First time trying out this wonderful establishment! Celebrated my Mom's birthday, we loved the food ( lollipop lamp chips, sriracha shrimp over colorful slaw, zucchini fries and chilled crab salad. Drinks were great. Blueberry mojito and martini. For dessert, mango sorbet and her birthday dessert was a berry tart. Service was excellent, waitress very attentive. Loved the beautiful artwork, lighting, and warm atmosphere. Also, we met the owner and she was so gracious. Thank you. Looking forward to coming back.

The service was spot on and the steak and vegetables were cooked to our liking with one steak well done the other medium. The bar made an excellent old fashioned. The only reason I can't give 5 stars is that the rice although tasty, was a too mushy.

Highlights of my dining experience here are the appetizers and customer service. Appetizers ordered were the sriracha shrimp & zucchini fries. Both were very tasty. On the flip side, I did not enjoy my entree. I ordered a medium well NY strip with French fries. Was delivered to me well done & the fries were old and awful. The owner/manager did try to make it right but serving me a better version of my order actually done as ordered & stayed to make sure it was to my liking. Much appreciative of that great service! Unfortunately, the height of the tables is pretty awkward. The tables are lower than normal, not accommodating for the average height adult.

Updating my review with a very mixed opinion. After my first trip with the waitress moving a plate into my hand resulting in a double lined burn on my finger, the owner reached out to me wanting to make a new experience upon my return. So, we gave it another whirl. When I made the reservation, I commented in my notes on the yelp reservation that we were returning and to please let the owner know because he requested that. I honestly do not think anyone relayed the message. To start off with we had one waitress, and she was not very knowledgeable about the menu. When we asked her questions, we could never get a direct answer and she was very vague and left us feeling a bit awkward. An example would be I asked what the upgrade was for the spinach salad with the coconut dressing and she said that it was only spinach leaves and coconut balsamic dressing. Sounded kind of odd to me, but I ordered it anyway because I like coconut. When I got my salad, it was literally spinach leaves, feta, and a side of what tasted more like Italian dressing to me. Later when we got our bill, there was an eight dollar charge and I asked the new waitress that we had about it and she started explaining a salad that was nothing like I received with spinach and fruit and nuts and all kinds of stuff. She did removed the charge. Then, my friend is celiac and inquired as to the options on the menu and went over things because she will get very ill if she has any trace of gluten. Later her French onion soup was set in front of her. She dipped her spoon in and had bread on it. At this point, a new waitress came over and the owner came over as well with apologies and I know they were taking accountability for what happened and apologetic. I'm assuming we had a waitress change because of the soup mix up. Our new waitress was very communicative and deserves praises for kindness and attentiveness. Our entrees were good and cooked accurately. I loved my baked potato and scallops. My friend says that his lamp was cooked really well and that is a challenge to do so! I was a bit confused on my entree, as I ordered surf and turf thinking it was just plain medallions, but they were set on a mushroom sauce and I hate mushrooms. The confusion really was on my end and nothing with the restaurant because the item above it gave a thorough description of what their petite medallions were and this was that entree combined with a seafood option. That was completely my mistake. At the end of our meal, we were offered desserts. I asked for bread pudding to go and my friend ordered crème brûlée. We were brought the crème brûlée and I never saw my bread pudding. At that point I was just full and thought it best not to have it. The owner did step outside with us as we left and inquired again as to all of our experience and where they failed. In my honest opinion, Chaz is a upstanding restaurant owner who truly desires to make sure his employees and chefs are held to a high regard and that his patrons all have a noteworthy experience. I think he will continue to strive with every effort to achieve his goals and wish him the best in his endeavors.

This is our 2nd visit to Chaz 51 and it was delicious . Our server, Shay, was amazing! She was very knowledgeable with the menu items and has a fantastic personality. I had the Surf & Turf with a baked potato. So delicious, both the meat and lobster were tender and full of flavor. My husband had the 14oz Boneless Ribeye with Linguine Butter Sauce, he said the Ribeye was very flavorful and juicy, the linguine was one of the best he's ever had. We also had the Sangria which had a mix of tangy and sweetness, very refreshing. We were too full to have dessert, but we are taking home cheesecake and crème brûlée, looking forward to them. Please ask for Shay when you visit, she truly is a delightful person.

Amazing meal!! 5 star service from the moment we walked in. We started out with the lamb chops and ahi tuna both were excellent. For my entree I got the ribeye! Amazing flavor and cooked to perfection!! Can't wait to come back!!!

Food was excellent! Lots of heat with the Asian cuisine option I had. Beer selection was great, dessert was fantastic, but it was the service that was outstanding!

The appetizer bread was excellent. That's about it. The steak was not good. The picture is supposed to be a 6oz filet mignon. It was not, not even a filet and definitely not med well. Although the server tried to convince us that it was. It was not. Surf 'n Turf was the same, the only thing that made it seem that it would be good was the $55 I paid for it. Staff needs training on cut of meat and wellness. Probably not a return visit, sorry definitely not a return visit. The drive from Sarasota not worth it. If you need to know about the taste of the steak, the horseradish sauce made it okay at most. REPLY to owners comments: A couple of things to your take on my review/ critique of the establishment. The picture of the plate that I showed was half of what supposed to be the replacement filet mignon. The replacement was not enjoyed and it was not eaten. You did not replace it with a bigger filet mignon it was replaced with a sirloin. 2nd the fact that it was turned around quickly made it even clearer that a different piece was not cooked. What we got was plate that was waiting to get picked up. The plate came back with carrots that were not ordered And under cooked and it was a sirloin and not a filet. The critique should be taken as a learning experience and move forward. The waitress was tipped and the money was paid without a sweat off my brow.

    Caesar salad, bread. Yum!

First up - PARKING was awesome!!! we parked in their lot and had plenty of choices. yay. Second - When I had made a reservation for our special occasion I was asked "Inside or Outside" which I picked Inside. I was then ASKED "window table?" to which I happily confirmed yes that would be great. I then confirmed to my wife. 6PM, Inside, & Window seating. When I arrived I was quizzed if I had a reservation. Yes. Then I was asked did i want to dine Inside or Outside and I replied I had confirmed an Inside, window reservation. And he brought us to our inside aisle non-window table. When I asked why not a window as I confirmed - I was informed they only give them out when they are available and he can't guarantee it? I then asked "Why do you ask then when the reservation is made?" He just walked away. Probably not a good candidate for a public or customer facing role. As others have stated (and I in my first review) the staff and server experience here is highly variable. 1/10 Third - Our server was excellent and gregarious. we were seated well over 5 minutes until we able to tender a drink order, but then everything went very smoothly. The bus staff seems "nervous" and inexperienced, I had to ask twice for more water. The bread and butter was a little disappointing. one of the rolls was ok, the other either old, stale or did not sustain the heating process very well - inedible. There were two flatbread crackers in the basket as well. 3/10 Fourth - We both got a cup of seafood bisque soup. This was a smooth and flavorful soup. Chunks of seafood of various types and a little shot of sherry on the side to pour on. (my 10 year AA medal pushed it away - smile) 9/10 My wife ordered a Pompano special with scallops and the chef special vegetables and green beans. This was very substantive entree and she did bring half of it home. The fish was nicely prepared and properly cooked, the vegetables were cooked al dente and not just something on the plate - good job. The green beans so nice as a vegetarian / vegan plant based eater I am going to order them as my entree! 9/10 I ordered a shrimp cocktail as part of my main. I haven't had shrimp in a few years, and these were fairly decent. the cocktail sauce was disappointing as I am a Kelchner's horseradish and Heinz Chili Sauce kind of guy.... pink from the 50/50 mixture. The sauce here was a restaurant pack can of catsup and a splash of tabasco. yech. 5/10 Also as my main an Arugula Salad with Roasted Beets, NO goat cheese, Almonds, Honey-Citrus Vinaigrette, Raspberry Coulis. A VERY nice salad with an extremely fresh and beautiful collection of arugula lettuce, and the roasted yellow and purple beets were nicely cooked and prepared. The dressing was light and tasty and not some gloppy oil slick of goo. 10/10 Finally, our server brought us out a little keylime pie to commemorate our occasion, we were actually pretty full from the dinner and declined dessert but she brought this out and we took a few pictures!!! VERY nice touch!!! Thank you. I think the kitchen has improved over the last three reviews and last three or so years. The reservation and front desk and the service is variable and inconsistent, still. The communications and reservation situation is flawed - a reservation is between two parties - if we agree on something the expectation is we BOTH deliver (I arrive on time and pay, and the establishment seats and accommodates as per the expectation) Both should expect what was agreed to? Obviously this is all personnel and seasonally dependent here in Venice, FL, now that we enter the slow and less tourist oriented I think the employees and the patrons will be less wired and unpredictable. I started with the pain pill cocktail - their version of a pain killer. It was really tasty. It came in a very tall glass with some cinnamon sprinkle. The pineapple was fresh. While I looked over the menu, she brought out some warm crusty rolls with salted butter. Yummmmm. I was famished so I dug in. They had so many things on the menu I was a bit in information overload. I started with the coconut shrimp, which they say is a house specialty. The dipping sauce was interesting - like a cold coconut milk? The shrimp were butterflied and lightly fried. There is four on the plate. Pretty good. For dinner, I had the fresh catch with mashed potatoes and the zucchini medley. The medley had zucchini. squash, onions and red bell pepper in it. They have other sides like sweet potato as well. You get your choice of two. The entree came with a side salad. It was a small portion. It had some sweet candied nuts on it, with some shredded mixed cheese and a side of their house French dressing. Some of the pieces of lettuce were really long so it was kinda messy to eat. The red snapper was my choice of fresh catch. I asked for it grilled but the other option is blackened. The fish was a good portion. About 6 to 8 ounces. The mashed potatoes were delicious. I enjoyed my meal and I was too stuffed for dessert. But I saw the bread pudding with ice cream at another table. Wow! The scoop of ice cream on that dish was huge! The key lime ice cream pie sounded interesting and I imagine they have a good tiramisu. Next time I'll get dessert. Service was stellar. I was not bothered but I was checked on often for another drink and water etc. plates were cleared often but did not distract me. I really enjoyed being outside because they had a one man band playing guitar and singing so wonderfully. It's a gorgeous setting outside. A bit warm, but I was gross from golf anyways. They do have quite a few fans but I'm glad I was away from them. I hate when I'm trying to eat and it's all I can do to keep my hair from blowing in my face and mouth from overzealous ceiling fans. Bathrooms are clean and well stocked. Parking is a private lot out front and I easily found a space. This place was recommended by a coworker. I am so glad I took her recommendation!
