Very happy with the customer service. Overall the food is pretty good. My friend ordered a clam chowder and when hers arrived she offered to let me try it. I liked it so I ordered one for myself. Unfortunately, mine wasn't as good as hers. Hers was thick but mine was watery. I wonder if they were running low and tried to stretch it out with some water maybe? I ordered the seafood platter which comes with cod, oysters, shrimp, scallops and deviled crabs. All fried. You have a choice between french fries or baked potato. And you get a small container of slaw and a very small container of tartar sauce but they will bring you more. Plus two hush puppies. I was pleased with all of it. The deviled crab was heavy on the stuffing and light on the crab but it still tasted good and not dry. This restaurant has been considered a local favorite for many many years. Closed permanently as of May 3, 2025. Newspaper and TV accounts confirmed it. Very abrupt closure. I never understood the appeal of this place. Almost all of food was fried and heart attack city, and the service really declined because (according to the owner's interview on TV news stations) it was challenging to adequately staff the restaurant. But weeks after it closed, literally half the population of this sad little town have come completely unglued over the closure. Go figure. read more

This place is so delicious! I forgot to take pictures of my food, but definitely will when I go back! I ordered the combination seafood plate that fish, scallops and hush puppies, with a side of raw onions, which I thought initially was weird, but it definitely complimented the fruit we were eating. Rose Hill Seafood closed and over 1/2 of Columbus was very saddened that this happened. Buford King's son opened it back up and it is still the same great seafood as ever. Love the raw oysters, fried oysters, fried whole catfish and the rainbow trout either fried or broiled. Plenty to choose from their varied menu. The food, and the service make this Columbus best fish house. The ambiance is old time fish house and the same it's been since Rose Hill re located to its present Hamilton Road location. Years ago it was originally down the street near where John B Amos cancer center is located. Talking about old fashioned down home seafood cooking this is the place. The young lady waiting on us was very nice and made our first time visit easy. This restaurant is packed with people coming to sit and eat and in the to go line! It took some minutes to get our order but it was okay. Sat. 11/20/2025 I called in about 5:00pm for a catfish plate. When I got my order I didn't check it out. When my husband open up the box. There was a couple of whole catfish the rest of it was junk pieces of catfish, it was like pieces of fish that they wouldn't serve to the customer eating inside. Maybe pieces that had come apart in the fryer. It wasn't a great experience. The box was to small all the food ( French fries) were crammed inside the box. This is the first time we've eaten from Rosehill since the new owners took over. Not a good experience. Someone needs to check food before it goes out to the customers. Long wait to sit down and get food after it was ordered. But the waitress was awesome. She brought drinks and starters right after order was placed. The food was awesome as I remembered. We got fried pickles, broiled trout and fried catfish. They were all delicious. I especially liked the baked potatoes. 03/21/24i called in an Order for a Mullet and a baked potato. I was told that coleslaw was included and pickles and onions included upon request. I requested they add The pickles and onion. I did not check my order before leaving but the cashier opened the baked potato box and added sour cream and butter. I arrived home and there was no coleslaw, onions or pickles. I called to report but I declined their offer to put it in the box ( I assume my name) to get an extra cole slaw the next time I ordered. while I waited for my un prepared call in order, I noticed 2 separate groups of African American families with children that said they had been waiting over 15 minutes in the lobby and some handicapped standing on a walking stick waiting to be seated, while other ethnicities walked right in and were seated. There were many empty tables !!!! The 1st family of 5-6 left in disgust after addressing with the staff behind the counter. I will not patronize this establishment again. It appears that they could care less for certain people business anyway. I patronize businesses that "respect" and want my coins..When I see that elders are not respected I have an issue it's that. Just something better at Rosehill. I like to cook my own. If you like pan fried cod served with a lemon butter caper sauce, Mashed potatoes and fresh foam cooked spinach, you can't but your fresh cod fillets anywhere else. The meatiest fresh cod. Every time​ I​ ride past Rosehill the parking lot is full. So I said hmmm they must be pretty good if they're always full. So I​ stopped by around lunchtime​ one day to order​ some Shrimp and fries. I was going​ to sit there and eat but idk.... not somewhere I​​ would probably​ sit and eat... The lady that took my to-go order at the counter was super friendly and ​gave me some great recommendations​. My food took about 10 mins to cook, not long at all. Once I​ got home I literally​ ate my food in 5 mins that's​ how good it was. The fries were soooo good and the fried​ shrimp was really fresh! I will definitely​ be back to Rosehill read more

I have always heard that rose hills has the best catfish in town, I have to disagree and I ordered the whole catfish and will say that was the worst catfish I have ever had because they cut the meat off of one side of the catfish and the other side is so thin you have less that a 1/8" of meat so all you get is a pile of bones. I told the cashier this and she said you should have just ordered the filets. So why is whole catfish on the menu if all you get is a platter of bones. Everything else was great but this puts cutting corners to a whole new level and all you really can taste is the breading. I'm pretty good at eating whole catfish without getting any bones in my mouth but there is no meat to slip off the bones. read more
