My mother and I wanted to try this place as the burgers & pictures looked really cute but when we entered we were greeted rudely by the woman up front. We were sat and told we could only order the chicken nuggets and appetizers as they were out of everything else (it was 9pm and it said they closed at 10pm so idk if that normally happens idk) but the table behind us ordered burgers? The same woman walked past us a few times not asking if we were ready or anything. I was a bit confused but we waited a bit, as it did seem busy. As we waited to order, the lady who was rude to us sent another waitress to take our order and at this point we were extremely uncomfortable and I was upset by the service and the way we were treated, so I just told the waitress that was going to help us, we had to leave. We just had a late dinner somewhere else. I do not like to be rude to workers so I did not say anything directly as I was upset and confused at the experience we had. So I just decided to write a review. I hope others have a better experience than we did. read more

This is a fantastic spot. I'm a gin lover and they have an exceptional offering of all their high end spirits. The food was equally impressive and every bit enjoyable. I look forward to exploring the wine offerings next time and some bigger plates. If I could I would give Roselle 3.5 stars. Food, drinks, and ambience were excellent, and we did have an amiable server who checked in with us as we were using the online ordering system, to offer assistance with it or to take our orders himself. I was irked that there was a 2.4% "processing charge" on the bill that coud not be removed even if I paid cash. If this is to cover a cost borne by the restaurant -- maybe to pay for the use of the online ordering system? -- why not build it into the food and drink menu prices? read more

Roselle, hunny, where have you been all my life? Everything about this bar is perfection. I've literally ordered every craft cocktail on the menu. Each cocktail is like a flavor journey - complex, balanced, and FRESH. The food! Gah! So so consistently good. Something for everyone and every mood. Seasonal small plates, gluten-free, veg, meat-lovers. The furikake fries are such a treat. The space is light, airy, magically lit, and just plain beautiful. Lots of seating options. I personally love being able to order my next drink on my phone, but you can also order from a human if modern technology is not your jam. So get over there and start vibin'! read more

I love Roselle! Every food item I've ordered has been very tasty but the smash burger is the gold medal winner for sure. The drinks.... So inventive and spirit forward. They are slightly pricey but I feel like you really get what you pay for. Their selection of tequilas and amaros is impressive but they have plenty of other libations too. The clarified drinks are mind blowing- especially the tequila and apple juice. Dangerously tasty. One of my favorite places in Chico! ** 5 stars because this is someone's livelihood and they've obviously put a lot of work into their business and I don't believe in putting businesses down, especially after covid. BUT I will truthfully review my experience. My hope is they use this to learn and to grow to be successful** I was underwhelmed and disappointed. I really looked forward to my first visit to the new hot spot in Chico and it didn't go well. It actually was terrible. But even so I decided to try a second time even after the first time was so bad. So here's how it went.. The first time I got there when there were still several available seats and we got to pick our spot. Super cute decor. QR code menu and you order/start you tab on your phone. I ordered drinks and food to start. After some time our drinks came out but no food. We waited an additional 30 minutes, but the table next to us who came in and sat as we were served our drinks were receiving their food. I waited for a server to check on us or even come near us but after about 10 minutes I had to ask the hostess. To which it took another 10 minutes to get a server. When the server came over she said she would check on our food, I explained we had waited some time and already finished our drinks. She encouraged us to order more drinks and she would make sure to bring our food shortly. At this point we had been in Roselle's for 50min, no food. Since I was so excited to try the food and figured they were still new and sorting things out I decided to give it some more time and we ordered another round of cocktails. Now 20min later our second drinks came out, brought by a different server. The server we spoke to who was checking on our food was delivering the very items we ordered to every table but ours. Like I said we got there when the restaurant was pretty empty. By this time they were getting busy, and people who came in after us were getting all their food delivered in what seemed like a reasonable time.. but not us. So now 1.5hrs into our visit I, again, asked the hostess to please send us a server, explaining we still have not received the food we ordered. This time a new server came to our table and said he would check on it. I explained to him that I had to ask the hostess twice for a server and that I had already spoke to one of the servers who said they would check on the food and we still had no food after 1.5hours. The main purpose of our visit was to get food that we had not received nor have we had reliable service. He said he would check on the food and be right back. He came back 15min later and said they must have sent our order to the wrong table and they would have to remake our order. I told him that we would have been here now for 2 hours before getting the food we ordered. I told him I was trying to be patient and give them the benefit of doubt but that we were really disappointed and hungry and we'd like to go elsewhere now. I asked to speak to a manager to which I was told he is busy behind the bar and can't come to the table. I asked the server to please relay our issue to the manager and to at least comp our second drinks because had we known we weren't getting food we wouldn't have waited around. I watched as he approached the manager behind the bar and the manager looked annoyed, throwing his hands up and dismissing the server. This was sad to see, I felt bad for the server. He came back and said they could comp the second round of drinks. We cut our losses and went across the street. Second visit, a week later because I was adamant to to try the corn ribs.. service wasn't bad. Food and drinks all came out. Food was yummy, bourbon sour with egg white was delicious. We saw all the same staff from the week before. It was a decent experience and I wish it had been the first. Having lived in NYC, LA, and other big cities I've been to places where the QR code ordering system works, but clearly this left a bad taste in our mouth. I hope there are some positive changes to come, this place has great potential. read more

This is my new favorite bar in Chico. The staff is all very kind and the design is so refreshing to see here. I've gotten a few drinks here now, and they're all very thought out and delicious. I went to Roselle's last night for the first time. The ambiance was hip and the service excellent however the food was disappointing and overpriced. Drinks are at a minimum $15 so after 5 drinks for two people and a few shares small plates our bill was $143.00. I'm glad I tried it but will prob not be going back.... read more

Great, locally owned spot with very chill vibes. The drinks are dangerously delicious, and the food is equally high quality. Current faves are the corn ribs & French fries w furikake. The Dusk til Dawn cocktail is ridiculously good, as well as the Palm Reader, but I don't think you can really go wrong lol. The staff there are super friendly & accommodating, and the whole place is very clean with just a great ambiance. Atmosphere is great, but the online ordering is a pain and my cocktail was not traditional nor enjoyable.

We walked in at 4:45ish Friday to completely empty tables and a mostly full bar. The hostess immediately pointed us towards the bar and then after about 5 minutes with none of the 4 people behind the bar acknowledging our presence we realized there's a QR code embedded in the bar. It's no problem to order via QR but the cell service there is shoddy and I could never get it to load on my phone. Eventually, my date was able to order us drinks. Still wanting to peruse the menu on my own phone but unable to, we finally had to loudly ask if there was wifi. A cheery girl behind the bar immediately gave us the menu with the wifi code on it. Hallelujah! However at this point we'd been sitting at the bar for at least 20 minutes with no acknowledgment at all. In the hour we sat there, the only other (very brief, no eye contact) conversation we had was with the guy who delivered our drinks, which were excellent. We decided not to stay for food although it looked good and prices seem fair. The whole experience felt very bizarre. I suppose my expectation when I pay a premium to eat and drink is to also have decent service. I think at a bare minimum a menu should be given on arrival to help you figure things out if the business model is to make as little contact with customers as possible. read more

I love this place!! it's beautiful inside, the cocktails are perfect and the food is so good and fairly priced. My husband has Celiacs and this place is very gluten-free friendly. He hasn't had any issues eating here and we've been back several times so that says a lot about the care they use in the kitchen. The last time we went they added paper menus and we had the option to order using the QR code system or with a server which I appreciated. Staff was friendly and helpful! Highly recommend. read more

Roselle is easily the best bar in Chico, honestly maybe even north of the bay. I've gone here almost every week since it opened, on dates, with friends, and for events, everything has always been so perfect and delicious. Service has always been great too! I find it hilarious that so many turds get on here to complain about ordering through the QR code. It's harder to sign to yelp and write in a bad review than than it is to order a drink. As a classically shy ugly person it only democratizes the ordering process. I've waited at other bars for up to 30 mins when with out any acknowledgement, here your order is in in an instant. Anyways, if drinks aren't your thing they have amazing food too, I've honestly been coming here just to eat just as much. They've done a pretty good job of having a rotating menu fit to the season as well as keep the favorites on. They do healthy snacks too hamburgers, all incredibly well. read more

The definite highlight of this new restaurant is the food. It's super creative and delicious, and the portion sizes are generous. The food prices are reasonable. My cocktail called Summer Crush was good but not $14 good. I went last week and my husband and I each ordered the karaage chicken which was soooo delicious esp for something fried that was gluten free. The dipping sauces were super unique and delicious. We shared the furikake french fries (2 of my favorite things that I would never have pictured in one dish but whoa. . glad they did) which also had a special super interesting dipping sauce, and the Japchae which was served cold with heaps of colorful rich ingredients and flavors. I am so appreciative of the chefs making wonderful gluten-free food that isn't just an after thought or modification. The reason for my 4 instead of 5 stars is the ordering system. Ordering and paying is entirely by QR code here. I know it's a trend in bigger cities and a younger crowd may think it's fine. I like to talk about the food and may have a random question or 2 about ingredients, or seek staff recommendations. To me, that is all part of enjoying a meal out, specifically at a place I am unfamiliar with. I will say that the employee who told us how it worked was friendly, and said we could ask him any questions about the QR process, etc. He was just less than readily available. When you leave, you pay on your phone and just walk out. No one notices or says thanks or goodbye. So, the automation and lack of human interaction was not impressive, but the food/drink and most of the prices were great and I'd go back. read more
