I can't believe we didn't take one photo. I guess the food had our total attention! We enjoyed happy hour at Burban Kitchen this afternoon -- we enjoyed our cocktails and ordered a trio of dishes to share. The portions are big! The warm beet salad is practically a meal for two. Same with the calamari, which we could not finish! (My friend isn't crazy for the spices used in the calamari breading and dip, but I liked it okay.) Leave room for dessert. We recommend the cheesecake! Seating inside is intimate. There were only a few parties when we were there but I could imagine if the place was hopping, acoustics would be iffy. The ambiance is cute, casual, and has a modern environment. I particularly liked the open kitchen concept. We were seated right away on a Tuesday night, which was my third time there. My boyfriend was trying it out for the first time. The service was a bit slow. I wasn't sure if they were understaffed or if the waitress was new. We ordered the angry mussels and the braised short ribs. After 10 minutes, the waitress informed us that they were out of mussels, so we opted for shrimp instead. I'm not sure why they didn't know they were out of mussels and we had to wait 10 minutes after ordering. The food did take a while to arrive. There were about four seated couples and a few people at the bar. I gave the service a mid-For rating and the food an excellent rating. Decided to check this place out the other night. I had my dog with me and we showed up around 7:15 for dinner. They sat us quickly on the outdoor patio and were quick to bring menus and water for both myself and my pup. At the waitresses suggestion I ordered a variation of the SALMON SCALLOPINI. Instead of pasta she recommended a bed of mashed potatoes and to hold off on the Roma tomatoes. My first thought was that I had never had salmon and mash potatoes as a combo before but hey....i was feeling adventurous. While I waited for my dinner, I ordered a BK Old Fashioned to drink and honestly this was the only item that wasn't up to standard. The ice cube was on point, perfectly clear and good sized. The rest of the drink was lackluster. The ice cube made up the largest portion of the drink and there was no orange peel rub on the rim and no cheery in the drink. I know different places have different ways of doing things but this wasn't truly an Old Fashioned in my opinion. Two sips and it was gone. I think I've taken shots bigger than this drink. The waitress was great! Super attentive and friendly. The food was brought out in a reasonable amount of time and WOW, I really didn't think I was going to enjoy it as much as I did. The flavors were all very good and complimentary and the salmon was seasoned and cooked perfectly. The mashed potatoes actually went very well with the salmon and the dish was filling and well proportioned. Gave this place another shot since it had been awhile and the menu looked updated. Hubs and I did a couple of appetizers, he did a burger, I did a salad. I feel that the menu has improved greatly with small plates, flatbreads, and entrees. Lots of variety with the small plates from mussels, to veg, to ahi tuna, to tacos. We picked pork belly tacos and Spanish tacos for apps. Both were delish with tons of flavor. Hubs Hudson burger was juicy and I loved the fried onions on it. My Caesar salad was dressed perfectly and would've only been improved by some fresh cracked pepper. Love this place!! I've been a fan since they first opened. Their appetizers are the real showstoppers here - the fired green tomatoes, beet salad, and Brussels sprouts are my personal favorites. My family likes the ahi tuna and pork as main dishes, but you really can't go wrong with anything there. The cocktails are decent - the garnishes are great, but the flavor is lacking. I ordered my usual pork this time around, but the vegetable on the side changed - I believe it was some sort of roasted veggie last time which went well with the pork. This time, I received a pile of flavorless spinach as my veggie. Otherwise, the food was up to par and delicious as always! The waiters are always super friendly, and pretty laid back given the setting. My wife and I came in for an anniversary brunch, place wasn't to busy, we were greeted quickly and seated. Love the vibe and open feel of the restaurant and staff are friendly. Ordered ice tea and an Arnold Palmer for drinks. I had the chicken and waffle, my wife had the beet salad with salmon. She appreciates that they use wild salmon, we always ask before ordering. We're not fans of farmed salmon. Food was good, the waffle was a Belgian style waffle, I prefer thinner style, but that's me. The fried chicken was great, flavor was excellent. Definitely felt like we got a lot food for our money. Server was very sweet, did a good job on checking in occasionally, not too much. Over all, great experience, I'll definitely be back. Not enough tomato, the bread was pretty thick and seemed old as well as there was way too much balsamic vinegar on it and I wasn't a fan of the parm cheese added on top. Saw this place on Yelp and had to try it. Wanted to start with an Old Fashioned since this is a bourbon place, but had to try their Beetlejuice drink. We had a wonderful server Carina, who was attentive and caring. Especially because the bartender hadn't come in and she had to pivot to doing different tasks, Hats off!! Things are starting look different in Chico! This is a new super hipster area with a fancy juice place, coffee shop and a farm for events. We arrived at 5:30 on a Friday and were able to get a table for 6 right away. Despite it being a busy Friday, we were never rushed out. Our server whose name I didn't catch, was attentive. I ordered the prosciutto and pesto flatbread with their cheese alternative. It was really a 10 inch round thin crust pizza. It was so delicious that I didn't even notice it was a cheese alternative. I wanted to devour the entire thing but had to slow myself down. This is not a place for picky people as the average plate is $18 (average for their entire menu). My husband had their short ribs ($29) and damn near licked the plate clean. The meat was tender and melted per his description. I'll be back next time I am visiting! read more

We have been wanting to try this place for over a year. We finally went as a treat to ourselves after a day of shopping. I do not think we will eat there again. The ambiance is like a sports bar/ cafe feel. There are big screen TV's . I was expecting something a little nicer considering the price. Seats and booths are uncomfortable. The food overall lacked seasoning . The beef cut of meat was overcooked. The grilled salmon with creamy orzo flavors clashed. I expected crispy skin. Something on the plate had a thin milky sauce. Fish and milk do not pair well. The beet salad needed more acid and more feta. The bruschetta was ok , and the creamy mashed potatoes were good. The shrimp were seasoned well, but rubbery and overcooked. The steamed spinach was soggy and waterlogged. We waited an hour for our entree . We arrived a 4PM , and it was not busy. Now that we checked the Burban Kitchen off our list. I do not see us going there again. This early dinner bill was $160 for two people . Average price per plate is $29. Appetizers are $16 . Bottle of wine is $34 to $70 . The food here was not worth the money. read more

Used to come here a decent amount with my girlfriend because we live close by. The last visit, she ordered a veggie burger and let the waitress know that she does not eat meat. She was assured that the burger would be vegetarian. The food came out and my girlfriend took a couple bites out of her burger. She stopped, and took the top bun off to see pieces of bacon on top of the patty. A man who seemed like the manager or owner was walking by and we let him know what had happened. He apologized and took the plate, and said he would bring out the veggie burger. He said that there were multiple orders and it must have gotten delivered incorrectly. The new burger was dropped off, and there was no more mention of the mistake that had transpired or any concern for my girlfriend. We didn't expect a refund or anything, but at least we thought they would check in more to make sure my girlfriend was okay. We did not make a scene or anything at the restaurant, but she had a stomach ache for the rest of the night because her stomach was not used to eating meat, and also the thought of eating it made her upset. The restaurants customer service and attention to food allergies or dietary restrictions could be a lot better. They have decent food but we felt uncared for and that they forced something upon us. I understand things can happen when you eat out. That is why we do not come here anymore. read more
