The craftsmanship was so incredibly poor that I had to ask for a refund, I am sorry to say. I usually do not write negative reviews for anyone but in this instance, I feel it my duty to warn other consumers. Roselle Shoe Repair gave me an extremely difficult time and did not refund my money until after (1) I left and came back with a police officer and (2) the cobbler removed the two elastics from my sling-backs without restoring the original elastics. So I now have a pair of un-usable sling-back heels with their slings disconnected. I should have never agreed to him taking them out without replacing the original elastics, but I am not the best at making deals under stress and I tend to concede very quickly. The cobbler refused to show his face to me and had a woman cover for him. An Old-World craftsman would have seen the poor work and just refunded my money. A true Old-World craftsman from Italy or Spain or a made in America craftsman would have never let such poor work pass to a customer. Detail shows the talent or lack thereof. Warning: I always try to pay cash to small businesses but no more. My advice is to pay by credit card. If you end having to dispute, the credit card company will always side with the customer unless there is blatant foul play by the customer. I've come here for years! Today I picked up my Burberry loafers that I had brought in before to have them sew the sole. They glue them back and told me they couldn't sew them. That tells you how much they know about shoes (European shoes are not glued together) I had brought them in before and the old owner was the one that told me he would sew them for them to last longer. My other shoes didn't fix with glue as I waited. Would never come back. The glue is already separating! For glue, this guy charged me $36.00, It's already coming separating. read more

I went to this guy with some expensive shoes that needed rubber soles to protect the leather soles. This guy is a pro. I've been to many other cobblers. He gets the job done right in front of you. He's truly a professional and knows his stuff. His prices are better than the other guys around him. He can do just about anything. He has been working with shoes his entire life. What a class act. The owner, Louis, was attentive to what I wanted. He took the time to show me the rubber that would be used, and he provided same day service. When I came in to pick up my two pairs of shoes, he took the time to show his work. I was very pleased with the results, and communicated that to him. He then said he was happy that I was pleased. The owner does the work himself along with the talented help of an apprentice, ladies and gentlemen this is true craftsmanship. Many years ago, I invested in a pair of Italian leather boots. They are my favorite boots and I wear them frequently, as expected the heel has worn from use, this is the second time he re-heels these boots and they look like new each time! It is obvious that they take pride in their work and go as far as polishing the leather for a perfect end product. I recently brought in a pair of heels so he can put a leather strap on them as my high arches can't keep heels on. When I went to pick them up, he asked me to try them on to see if the strap was to my satisfaction..boy were they..they are perfect! I needed the sole of my brand new boot reattached as it had been ripped off completely. I did not have cash on me at drop off and it was much appreciated that the cobbler let me pay when I picked my boots up which he typically does not do. I dropped my boots off around 1p on a Monday and they were ready a couple hours later the same day. Not only was the service timely but he did a great job. I couldn't even tell which was the boot that had been fixed. Would recommend and will use this business again. read more
