The beautiful wife & I went to Iarias last night for Devour Indy. Food & service were great! Appears they only had 2 wait staff on but both ladies were very busy but efficient & never got in the weeds. We shared a Caesar salad which was cold with fresh ingredients. For our 3 entrees we chose chicken piccata, lasagna & fettuccine Alfredo. All were tasty & prepared well. For dessert we each had a cannoli which were delicious! All in all a great meal & good value on Devour!

I wish it hadn't taken me so long to make it out to Iaria's but at long last I made it! I came to Iaria's during our January 2026 winter storm, coinciding with Devour Winterfest. Their menu offering was 2 people for $60 which is a pretty good deal, coming with a starter, 3 entrees, and a dessert. This was a tonnnn of food so we each got leftovers to take home. The ambiance in there is pretty casual and homey, still with some Christmas lights up at the time. It was very charming and cozy. The outside of the building is very unassuming and I've passed by many times without realizing it was a restaurant! I think it's very nice that the restaurant has been owned by four generations of the Iaria family, I love seeing the longstanding traditions within the city. For our starter, we got Pomodoro arancini, which is like a fried cheese and rice ball with tomato sauce. They are fantastic and I would definitely order again. Our entrees were the lasagna, pesto gnocchi, and penne with meatballs. The lasagna was nice and soft, and could be pretty easily cut with the side of a fork. The flavor was really good with a lot of cheese and a nice red sauce. It was also really filling so I only had small bites of the rest of our entrees! My second choice with the pesto gnocchi, in which the pesto has a nice flavor. They also mix in mozzarella pearls which make this dish more filling - I took most of this home for leftovers and it was even better the next day. The third entree of penne and meatballs was my partner's choice. I had some of a meatball and it was quite good but I didn't have any of the pasta since it was just plain pasta with sauce on top. That's a good choice if you're a more simplistic eater, that's just not my style. Dessert was a chocolate amaretto cake, which has a really nice amaretto glaze to get that flavor to shine through. Served à la mode too!

I recommend making reservations, it's a small location but worth it! They have an easy reservation online. The food was great and really big portions so we ended up brining some back. The staff seemed like they have been there for a while and knew the menu very well!

Still the funnest old school dining downtown! 4 generations of tradition, great eating and fun times! The dinners are very filling and a great value!

Was looking for an Italian spot taking reservations on race weekend, and Iaria's was one of the few restaurants with availability!Located in Fletcher Place, Iaria's serves a classic Italian menu with old school ambiance (think cozy, green and red neon sign-Italian vibe). Despite being packed, food was served within 20 minutes. My table ordered the calamari as an appetizer, which had a light, crispy batter. My entree was my server's favorite - the grouper piccata. It was my first time trying grouper and wasn't disappointed at all! The fish came in a lemon butter sauce topped with capers. I knocked down a star simply because the grouper was drowning in the sauce, making it very oily/buttery. However, the taste itself was tangy due to the lemon and capers! For dessert, I got a cannoli, which could easily be split between two people. The cannoli filling wasn't overly sweet and the shell was crispy.

What a wonderful treasure on the near Southeast Indianapolis. Been going for years, it's like taking a step back in time, great food, service and down home comfort. I've never had a bad meal there. If you haven't been there? You're missing a true Italian Gem.

    Drogato
    Jen K.

I love the homey ambiance here. It's family owned and cozy. We got the Drogato and the baked penne. They were delicious though I wished the pasta was a bit more al dente for the Drogato, and it was a bit more greasy than I anticipated. Still, they were delicious and I would definitely come back. For the baked penne I got out with one meatball and one sausage--would recommend!

Great food and service! Eating outside on mild summer night makes it perfect. The Grouper piccatta is perfect!

Ask the Community - Iarias Italian Restaurant

Are the duckpin bowling lanes still available to rent?

Iaria's does not have a bowling alley. The one next door I believe is no longer open.

Is Iaria's vegan friendly? We have a strictly vegan family member but want to go for a birthday celebration.

I'd strongly recommend that you call the restaurant during business hours, but outside of busy times and ask this question directly. The problem would be that they have reasonable options that are non-meat, but that mayn't be vegan. For example,…

While I don't think we should get an appetizer again because it was so much food, the marinara that can with the cheesy garlic bread was phenomenal. Both of our entrees were delicious! A ton of food. I wish we could have taken some home, but we're going to a show after. Brussel sprouts were to die for.... So good. Love the glaze they put on them. Again, I think we could have been fine with just our entrees and salads, but all the food we tried was so delicious - I am really glad we did. We may not make it back as often as I would like, but we love the ambiance, service, and food. This is a special place for us and we hope to share it with others.

The entrees (the monkfish special and the carbonara) were good but not great. I did appreciate the crispy, smoky pancetta in the carbonara but the monkfish had a somewhat mushy texture rather than the he firmness we would normally expect. The biggest issue, though, was the check. The calamari never came off, the meatballs for the children's pasta were more expensive than what was on the menu, and we were charged for an extra calamari dipping sauce that we did not ask for. Most of these problems were fixed but the whole thing illustrated a lack of attention to detail and an appearance of up-charging the customer in any way possible. Overall: Food: fair 4/5 Service: decent 3.5/5 Pricing: suspicious 2/5

Shrimp Scampi 4/5 The shrimp was good, however didn't leave much of an impression for us. It could also be just because the range of different flavors we got this just seemed pretty ok. Dessert!!! We shared a cappuccino cheesecake and it was actually really really good. Was super tempted to get the tiramisu but we were feeling for something new and this didn't disappoint. The first time I ate there, I ordered the branzino - which was amazing. Tender, flaky, and mild with the perfect crispiness in the exterior. Everyone who ordered it on this second visit raved about it. For my second visit, I branched out to the carbonara which was as beautiful on the palate as it looked in the bowl. A perfect crunchiness of the pancetta counterbalanced the tenderness of the pasta which was prepared to a perfect al dente. I reviewed a carbonara from a different restaurant earlier this year and now have an apples to apples comparison that heavily favors Vicino.
