This wonderful place has seen me through several dogs. They saved the life of my chihuahua when she was attacked by coyotes. The vet actually slept by her all night! Who does that these days? Dr O'Dwyer has always been kind and knowledgeable, and the rest of the staff courteous and kind. I lost my Frenchie recently and they sat with me while I mourned. I send everyone I know who truly loves their pets to them. I see a lot of complaints on here about costs but I have never seen another vet that doesn't have the same costs. If I could give her zero stars, I would. I have tried addressing health issues that my German Shep has had over the years with this vet and it's been nothing but a struggle. Every time I bring my dog in "the vet" Dr. O'Dwyer insists on me drugging him with sedatives and Gaba to the point where he is immovable. The problem is when he gets there he gets nervous and knows very well where he is so he comes out of his fog. Mind you, he goes in with a muzzle. He cannot in ANY WAY bite her. His mouth is shut. She will send us home and tell us to drug him more and bring him in next time. I'm just curious if she wants him to completely stop breathing before she can examine him. She wants the little dogs and clearly has no clue how to deal with a big dog. I found another vet who handled him beautifully without requesting that he be completely in a drug coma. The staff is nice enough. She is terrible. She has zero bedside manner too. There are other vets that truly care about the pets well being and not just making sure that she charges for office visit after office visit. She should have a sign that says she can't treat bigger dogs so we don't waste our time. She made me feel like an absolute failure to my dog and made me worry constantly about him dying in the middle of the night due to all them meds she wanted me to give him. She doesn't care. That's very very clear. Shop around. Do your research. Find a vet who is dedicated to treating animals as opposed to lining her pockets and making people feel like they have no other options than to drug their pet and feel like a bad pet owner. read more

But she reviewed Kitty's records and felt Kitty's jaw tumor and knew it had spread around her ear. She told me the terrible news that Kitty was definitely in pain and would not get better. I was and am SO sad, but I can't imagine how much worse it would have been if she and Claudia and Victor were not so loving, caring, compassionate, knowledgeable and absolutely wonderful. Let me preface by saying I'm on Dialysis and my dog Logan is a service dog, & he is an escape artist. Every time I leave he freaks out and worries that I'm not OK, and will not stop at anything until he's reunited with me. Nobody knows how much I've gone through with this dog and what I've had to do to keep him safe. But that aside, I love him more than anything in this world, so none of that matters. I just moved into the area and we are still figuring out a routine. about 20 minutes after I left today I got a phone call from Rosemont veterinary Hospital, & of course my heart dropped just seeing that because I know what Logan is capable of. These motherfuckers had the audacity to tell me that my dog was hit by a car, that he had to get carried in to the hospital by the people who hit him, and that he was hurt. I left my appointment midway through, and drove 100 mph to the hospital to get him. Every bad scenario was going through my head, and I felt like I was going to have a heart attack, as any pet parent can relate to I'm sure. I walk in bracing myself for what I'm about to witness, and turns out Logan was not hit at all. He was his perfectly chipper, adorable, loving, healthy self. The people who brought him in loved him, and said that they saw him walking down the street, so they decided to bring him in. Not only did the staff lie to me in the most damaging way, but I am 100% certain that they did it to shame me for my dog escaping. When they know absolutely nothing about me or my situation. And let me add, even if this was not the case (which it was), getting the facts that horribly wrong is just stupid and unprofessional. Saying a dog got hit and is hurt when he wasn't is INSANE. We had been taking our dogs to Rosemont Vet Hospital for vet care and boarding for the last 7.5 years. Imagine our surprise when we called to confirm our dogs boarding reservations (we had made months ago), 2 days before our trip, they said yes, they are in but just a heads up as our prices have now gone from $35 per dog per day to $68 per dog, per day. Totally screwed us in the 11th hour. Also, we have referred so many of our friends and neighbors. Our friends got a new puppy a few months back and got yelled at by the front desk for attempting to walk inside- she said no one told her when she made the appointment. I can't speak about their veterinary services but I'm very UPSET. I scheduled my puppy's first appointment with them and asked to reschedule it a later time via text. I was told there was availability for later that day so I confirmed it worked. Today I receive a text indicating that my appointment was at the original time so I called assuming it was a mistake. NO ONE bothered to change the appointment time. Needless to say our time is valuable and they weren't willing to make any concessions for their mistake so they will not be receiving my services. read more

When I take my beloved furry family member to a new Veterinary Clinic I need to get a warm and fuzzy feeling from everyone who works there. I called to find out how much they would charge and it was $49 for the visit alone. That's already less that two VPA Animal Clinics because they charge $59. Rosemont is closer to my home, so I'm also saving money on gas and time. Tucker was limping after getting home from the groomers for a couple days and I took him to see Dr. Chung. Dr. Chung examined Tucker and he recommended two things. I could either have an x-ray done or he could take some anti-inflammatory drugs to see if that helped. The drugs seemed to help after he took them for a couple days so the limping went away. I also asked about Tucker's weight because he was about 36 pounds when I adopted him in October and he was now 55 pounds. Dr. Chung told me he could probably lose 5 pounds. He walks at least 3 miles a day, so we had to cut back on the amount of kibble and grilled chicken. I think my husband is part of the problem because he'll stop at McDonald's for an ice cream cone and give half to Tucker. He also gives him basmati rice, little pieces of waffles and other things. Tucker would eat all day long if we let him. I'll probably take Tucker back for check-ups and immunizations because they seem to have good prices and it's close to home. Tips: - If you are bringing your pet in for the first visit, don't forget to bring copies of their immunization records. - Bring some treats if your pet gets distracted or aggravated by other animals. Tucker doesn't like big male Australian Shepherds or Labradors, so little pieces of hot dogs help. - Take your dog for a little walk out front first, so they don't decide to mark their territory inside. My beagle son, Jarvis have been a client since he was a pup. We are super happy with their service and quality of people that work here. They always follow-up with our visits and even send us the cutest letters! Jarvis deals with neck pain as he is a beagle and loves to be very active. I recently had to take my sick doggie back to Rosemont due to some weird rash and was reminded of just how awesome the staff here is. I would mainly like to call out Dr. Galgoul who is the doctor that helped us this time around. I really wish that I'd come across more doctors like her when I myself need to go see a physician. I would highly advise you not to consider this vet, as I would never want anyone else to experience what my family and I had gone through. We generally visited this vet throughout the years for overall check-ups and unexpected concerns with our yorkie, Odie. This summer had been tough for our 16 year old yorkie as he was in and out of hospitals at ASG and VCA West LA for hospitalization, he was diagnosed with pulmonary hypertension. We knew that with his condition that we probably didn't have much time left, however we remained optimistic and provided everything that we could to make him comfortable. Several months later on the morning of September 14th, Odie exhibited the same panic inducing sounds of not being able to breathe. As his tongue started to turn blue, my brother and I hurried him to the local vet we trusted, Rosemont Veterinary Hospital, knowing that they had an oxygen chamber where we would be able to let him breathe. Once we got there, they were able to put him in the oxygen chamber and stabilize him. It again was pulmonary hypertension that was causing him not to breathe. The doctor at the time said that he was stable and breathing in the oxygen chamber but once he was out he was struggling to breathe on his own. My brother and I had decided that we didn't want to put him through the stress and agony of hospitalization and recovery to only have it happen to him again early down the road. As difficult as it was, we decided that euthanasia was the best thing we could do for him. As I stepped out to call my parents to update on what we were going to do, there was staff technician, Jeremy (sleeve tattoos and an English accent, who is also complained about in another yelp review) who kept telling us that he "would like to hurry up and do it quick" and that he had an upcoming surgery coming up that he had to get to. We asked the doctor if we could do the euthanasia while Odie was on oxygen but they told us no. He then told my brother that if we didn't do it soon, that they were going to charge us more for oxygen. Who does that? Who rushes a person to proceed with one of the most difficult and horrific decisions of their lives? Keep in mind the duration of our entire visit had been no more than 15 minutes. I got back inside and signed off on the euthanasia of my dog of 16 years. Once I signed off we went into the examination room, where we awaited what we thought would be our last moments to say goodbye to Odie and to tell him that we loved him, but no, we were robbed of that moment and cheated out of those final moments. The tech, Jeremy, had already given Odie his initial injection of sedatives. By the time Jeremy brought in Odie to the examination room, he was awake for just about 5 seconds before he lost consciousness. No goodbyes, no kisses, and no final moments with our dog. What's even more ironic is that once Odie was unconscious, he started to struggle to breathe because they took him off oxygen, so they took him to the back with us and put him on oxygen for his last injection that stopped his heart. I could only cry and hold his paw, being there for him as he was always there for me. I knew something was wrong when I rode back home with his body in my arms, I felt more anger about how we were robbed of his last conscious moments. People get to say goodbye to their pets before they get put down, we weren't allowed that right. A week later I called to see if I could talk to the owner, Dr. O'Dywer about my complaint of how Jeremy robbed us of our final moments with our dog. Initially the receptionist wanted to charge me a visit fee to just speak with her. I told her of our situation and I called them again the next day where I was able to catch Dr. O'Dywer. Throughout our discussion she was not remorseful, gave me an apology that sounded like she read it out of a script, and ultimately defended the actions of Jeremy. She wanted to quickly end our phone call saying there was nothing she could do that and that she had appointments to tend to. My brother and dad went to go visit a couple days later, the receptionist also wanted to charge them too for a visit fee. They spoke with the co-owner of the business who also sided with Jeremy. The co-owner admitted that there was in fact, no scheduled surgeries for that day we put down Odie. Why Jeremy rushed us during euthanasia, why we couldn't euthanize our dog on oxygen from the beginning, why Jeremy sedated Odie before we could have our final moments is all beyond me. The co-owner also mentioned they don't bother reading yelp reviews when we brought up the fact Jeremy was negatively mentioned before in a review. So why I am writing this? To warn you and make sure that this never happens to anyone else. No one deserves to get robbed of their last goodbyes with their family member. Do not support this business. Do not support these people that do not respect you or your pet, especially during the times when you needed them the most. read more

Took my dog in for a follow up visit and was shocked with the outcome. Never saw a vet or a vet tech, just the helper. Dog was gone for under six minutes and when the helper came out I was told to just keep doing the same thing. I was also charged for tests that should have taken much longer to run. After a disappointing visit, I went to check out only to be told that I was to pay $100.00 for a visit where I did not talk to a vet and was not even taken into a room. We had a pet emergency today - our 16 year old cat was dying of cancer and was in excruciating pain as she started crying out last night. I was hoping she would leave this world on her own terms, but I could tell she was suffering so I called around and Rosemont was the only place that took us in and helped us. The technicians were VERY caring and put her down humanely. My son was in tears but he knew she was at peace finally and not in any more pain. Words cant describe how absolutely wonderful they are!! My family suffered a tragedy with a fire in our apartment. We had two kitties a brother ( Buckley) and his sister ( Chloe) the fire dept. was able to save Chloe but she suffered some wounds. Pasadena Humane society took Chloe in and fixed her up, but suggested we follow up with our vet. We didn't have one yet so I chose Rosemont. They took Chloe in, did a through exam, bathed her, and gave me some advice on aftercare. The vet and her technician are absolutely the best! so we get Chloe in her carrier to go home and they tell me there's no charge!!! I'm an old school guy (construction worker) that was brought up to stuff your emotions but I gotta say with everything we are going through, for them to do such a compassionate act, I almost teared up!!! Dr O'Dwyer has given me at least an extra year with Oscar! A year ago we were considering how long we could watch Oscar suffer with his hip pain - 12-year-old rescue dog with hip Dysplasia. We finally tried acupuncture and were lucky enough to find Dr O'Dwyer. It is amazing to watch the difference in him. Our other rescue dog, a 9-year old lab/retriever, jumped down a flight of steps and tore her ACL, per several other vets and X-Rays. RAPEMONT--formerly known as Rosemont.... After 20 years, I have terminated my relationship with what used to be my safe zone for every animal I've had. I gave them a shot with the new vets, and it was just a nightmare. From the doubling/tripling of the prices ($800 for stitches...REALLY?!?!) to the absolute lack of bedside manner from Dr. Goulgoul to the graphically disgusting heartworm video proudly displayed on the front desk, as soon as you walk in. This, of course, is to get you to pop for their $200 Sentinel prescription because you're an "irresponsible" pet owner if you don't! Oh, and don't forget the POST-surgery charges (that didn't exist with Dr. Sallen or Dr. Mitchell) of stitch removal, re-bandaging, and the post-surgery check-up, at $65-100 EACH...totalling well over $1000 for stitches! Do yourself a favor, and drive down the hill to the Montrose Pet Hospital for the care we were all accustomed to for so many years! Dr. Mitchell didn't retire, or move out of state, start hooking, or whatever story "Dr." O'Dwyer's office is selling that week,,,she's still right here. FIND A NEW VET! I've been using Rosemont since 2001, and went in a few months ago. Things have changed for the bad 1) I get hit with an estimate for $318 for getting my cats nails trimmed because one of the nail was stuck in his paw. 2) The technician handling him was an English man with tatoos exposed (very unprofessional). 3) The same issue had occured previously, and the bill was $14. I then overheard that they were under new ownership, and I finally realized why the prices had gone up, and the service had gone down. This is a wonderful place to take your animal(s). Helpful and friendly staff. They make it a point to remember you and your animals and make you feel very welcome. I have been going to Dr. O'Dwyer for years now. My boyfriend and I first met her at Foothill Vet Hospital in Pasadena and now drive out of our way for our pets to see her in La Crescenta. She was great with my baby, Bandette, who was very old and sick. She never tricked me into getting any unnecessary tests or blood-work. Because of her help, Bandette lived a very comfortable, long life (19 years!) She is great with our new kitten, Pepper. My friends also take their two doggies to her. People on Yelp are saying the prices are crazy and unreasonable. I have never had an instance where I felt ripped off by her or her staff. All vets can be pricey depending on what procedure is being done. They are doctors after all. It's a small price to pay for the comfort and well-being of our furry friends. Also, getting pet insurance really helps. Dr O'Dwyer is the BEST veterinarian I have ever been to. She is wonderful at her job and her knowledge of animals is overwhelming. She is one of the warmest, most sincere people (who truly loves animals) that I have ever met. Even though she is allergic to cats, she still gives them all the love they could ever need. I've never felt compelled to rate a business on Yelp before . . . but our experience at Rosemont Animal Hospital was SO positive that I had to share it. We've been taking our two dogs to see Dr. O'Dwyer for years. She's extremely knowledgeable, articulate, and professional. But at the same time, you can tell that she absolutely loves the animals under her care. When she moved her practice from Pasadena to La Crescenta, we decided to follow her without question (even though we live a good 30 minutes away.) We were so surprised to see how well the rest of the staff members at Rosemont complemented Dr. O'Dwyer's style. The whole staff seems very personable, efficient and caring. We recently planned a vacation and our regular house-sitters weren't available. We hesitantly went to Rosemont to inquire about boarding. They let us tour the clean and spacious boarding area . . . and explained that they walk the boarded animals several times a day. We opted to leave our boys there for a week . . . and when we returned the seriously didn't want to come home. (I guess this is a positive and a negative?) Anyway - Two thumbs up for Dr. O'Dwyer and the Rosemont staff. They will be our first choice for as long as we live in Los Angeles. read more

She had to run many tests to determine what was wrong and she took every opportunity to save us money. The price was reasonable for the service and the peace of mind she gave me. I have had bad experiences with vets in the past and I would recommend Dr. Galgoul and her staff to anyone and everyone. The negative review regarding her bedside manner is way off..but anyone who would use the word "rapemont" sounds like they have issues with their own bed side manner. I would again like to say how amazing this place is. My boyfriend's cat aka my step-cat was acting oddly on saturday and was crying and eventually peed on some of my boyfriend's art. I immediately called the rosemont vet.... they told me I could bring him right in... they were so gentle with the little guy... gave him all the testing he needed.. even brought me in back to show me the ultrasound of the crystals in his bladder... gave him the medicine and pain killers he needed.. went into great detail about his condition, what I can do to help him, and anything odd I should watch for. They truly love animals here and are so knowledgeable and kind.... love this place!! read more

If I could give zero stars and 5 thumbs down, I would. If you love your pet find a different veterinarian. The facility is fine, clean etc. The staff is nice. The actual veterinarian Kathryn whatever was the most uncaring doctor. It was all about money and never really taking the time to explain things. I asked twice if there was a treatment to remove the liquid from my dog's lungs and twice I was told No, only by medication....and it was a nightmare giving her medication, she'd just spit out her food or just stop eating completely. They charged me close to $500 to do x-rays then prescribed tablets and didn't take the time AT ALL to go over things and to stress how sick my dog was.. And I kept telling them that she isn't going to take the pills,, but the vet never tried to offer any alternatives.. never told me how weak my dog's heart was.. when I explained the behavioral changes the vet didn't reflect on anything. Then called them again on Monday March 20 with the same concerns saying that my dog's condition has not improved,, in fact she's getting worse and also acting so different. I probably spend good 10 minutes explaining to Victor on the phone what she was going thru, both physically and how she was behaving, he said he will talk to the vet.. put me on hold came back said she's busy and will call me back.. they called back what felt like few hrs later saying they're prescribing liquid medication. I said AGAIN she's not eating anything for 4 days and she's getting worse isnt there a treatment to drain the liquid they said No.. the pharmacy will contact you to send you the liquid medication. They didntbevrn say to take the dog in for a check up. I started calling other facilities. By the time I found out from other clinics that there ACTUALLY WAS a treatment to drain the liquid it was already late. I took my dog the next day, which was on tuesday, to East Valley Veterinary Clinic to drain the liquid but at that point she was too weak. She died a natural death. Her body couldn't handle it anymore.. She just stopped breathing at the vet's office while she was surrounded by us, comforting and giving her love... Rosemont hasnt even followed up with me since Monday to see how my dog is doing. The worst Veterinary doctor. No personality, no heart. Someone who treats animals should be more caring and attentive. And by the way the pharmacy reached out about sending the liquid medication after my dog had already passed. No sense of urgency for any of these so-called professionals. I definitely DO NOT recommend Rosemont Pet hospital. read more

I would assume that "an emergency in the back" meant there was an emergency, as in saving a life or a limb. Maybe it's just me, but I would have cut them some slack. And, yes, another animal might be freaked out and fearful after being around trauma in the treatment area. Anyway, through 3 dogs and 2 cats over the years, Rosemont has always taken excellent care of our pets. They just send reminders when it's time for vaccinations which I appreciate so I never feel like I'm being pressured to have services done. On the big things, they have been very good about explaining options and costs to help with care decisions. We've had to board our dogs with them quite a bit lately and one of our boys keeps trying to get in the car when he's taken out for walks because thats how he goes to see his friends (the staff) at Rosemont. Even if we move away, we will come back to them. read more

I've been taking my dog, Koa, to Rosemont Veterinary Hospital for five years now. The staff are always helpful and polite. They make my dog feel like a celebrity, and treat him really well. I frequently kennel him at their facility, and he loves to be there with them. Thank you Dr. O'Dwyer for the excellent care. read more
