They offer a $5.99 Small option for those looking for a smaller meal (yet not really small) that's priced right. There was no Roti option. Chicken was cooked very well, rub & marinade were OK but just moderate wow factor. I didn't get as much sauce as some of the other Yelper's pics but It wasn't dry by any means. Most of the chicken pieces were on the bone, which adds flavour IMO - but it also means 25% of that meat portion was bones, so what initially looks like a steal for $5.99 turned out to be merely fair. Not offered to customize heat level ( it was lower side of medium) I liked how the Coleslaw was neither too sweet nor too heavy on mayo. Rice & Peas was standard & unremarkable but did taste extremely fresh despite being an hour to closing time. I'd like to round them up to a 4 but that would be saying it's as good as Allwyn's & Layla's and I couldn't go that far. ( in Willowdale, they'd a 4 easily..) I still consider Rose's a solid choice. And for some customers - those who need better TTC access than Allwyn's, those who need their Island fix to be halal, or find the $5.99 deal to be an ideal price & size, it could well be a top choice in the area. read more

If I could give this place zero stars I would. My fiance and I went in and placed an order to cater my wedding (party of 30) 4 weeks prior to our wedding date. We were ready to pay the full amount at the time but were told not to worry, that we can just pay when we pickup the food. We were also asked to call 2 days before the wedding to confirm. On Monday July 19 2021, I call to confirm my order. My order is retaken and they say they will call me back in a few minutes with a price. I get a call back and am told I need to put down a deposit for the order. I explain that this was not what I was originally told but they insisted that I do.  My fiance takes the phone from me to reconfirm that our order will  get done as we are getting different info now and our wedding is 2 days away. He returns the phone to me and I ask what time.they close  tomorrow and if I can pay the entire amount tomorrow. I am told sure no problem. On Tues July 20th 2021 I drive from milton to Scarborough to pay the full amount (the night before my wedding). THEY HAVE A SIGN THAT SAYS THEY ARE CLOSED FOR EID. I call, of course no answer and also no voicemail. This is less then 24 hrs from my wedding with absolutely no communication from the restaurant and  no confirmation that my food will infact be ready without this deposit. I am absolutely livid with the lack of communication and the position I was put in by their lack of organization. I had to scramble last minute to find another caterer to help me.  On Wednesday July 21st ( at 430pm) I get a call from Rose about order and when I explained what happened  (that we came and they were close even though I was told they would be open) Rose starts yelling  at me claiming that when she spoke with my fiance she said it's okay to not pay (although I spoke with her and mentioned coming to pay the say prior nothing was mentioned about being closed for eid). They had my number they could have called. I got 3 different stories the 3 different times I communicated with them and then I get yelled at by Rose. I eventually hung up. read more

Pretty good lunch spot. It's halal friendly and run by a nice group of Jamaican people who give great service. I got the oxtail curry with rice. Very tasty! I really enjoyed it and of course oxtail meat on bone takes a bit of work to get around the bones. The in house Jamaican patties were quite good as well, I always love to try any place that makes it in house. The pastry on it was the standout, while the filling was fine, not spectacular. My coworker ordered the jerk chicken which has bbq sauce poured on top of the chicken, I am not sure if that's authentic thing to do but they weren't pleased with it and was hoping to have it on the side if they knew that was going to happen. read more

If this is what Jamaican tastes like... well, I don't feel like I'm missing out on much. So, I'm a halal-only type of an eater. Naturally, I was tickled by the thought of a Jamaican halal restaurant, which is why we came. We looked at the menu and selected to two most 'foreign' dishes that we could -- Jerk Chicken and Oxtail. They brought the food out within minutes. The chicken was good -- flavorful, fair portion size, and fun to eat. It was not piping hot, which made me feel like it had just been warmed up. The oxtail tasted weird to me. I couldn't put my finger on it -- it was fiberous and fatty, and overall was not something I'd like to eat again. I brought my parents here last night. My dad had the king fish and mom and I had the jerk chicken plates. We were all so satisfied with our meals in terms of the quality and portions. The business is run by a Jamaican family so you're getting authentic Jamaican food. They're very nice people. I've pretty much had everything on their short menu. I've also done catering with them. Not much of a fan of their coleslaw but rice and peas are on point as well as their Jerk chicken. It's very good esp for my Muslim brothers and sisters who eat halal and never got to try Jerk. They were all pleasantly surprised. I've even had my Jamaican friends say "yeah that's real jerk." I never had authentic Jamaican food before so I did not know what to expect. Once the order was placed, the food came soon enough and it smelled amazing. The jerk chicken was seasoned very well and there was some sort of thick gravy/curry on top of it that added so much flavour. The rice with beans and coleslaw combined with the chicken went so well together. I was very impressed. The food does take some time to prepare but thats because it is super fresh. I've become a weekly regular. Authentic home made jerk chicken by the owner's mother. It's got a nice spicy kick and saucy. Rice and slaw are too good. Reading these reviews I thought I would try the place out and honestly I have no idea how anyone would give this place more than 1 star. Times like this is when I wish giving 0 stars was an option. Anyways, the ladies at the counter have an extreme attitude problem, the jerk chicken is not jerk at all. The plate was also $18.... Which is EXTREMELY unreasonable for the portions. The rice n peas is literally white rice with some peas. Not the typical seasoned rice n peas you would receive at a proper Jamaican place. Being Jamaican myself I find this an extremely sad excuse for Jamaican food. Will only satisfy people that are clueless when it comes to such food. The atmosphere is disgusting. Worst seating area and it truly feels like you're walking into a mosque to pray rather than walking into a food spot to eat. Very unnecessary. I don't see why they would point out the food is cooked by "Jamaican muslims" it's very weird considering no restaurants feel the need to display the religion of their chefs or owners... a halal food sign is good enough just as every other place does. Really flavourful and tasty. I mainly take take out all the times. They do have tiny seating place but it's not desirable environment to sit and eat. I found out about this place last week and have been here 3 times during Ramadan (dont judge). We've only had the jerk chicken with rice and peas and it has been great every single time.
