Little chicken and poutine will do the mind good.
    Steven M.

When my original plans fell through for Sunday afternoon lunch I ended up driving around and trying to find a place to eat close to BMO Field so I could make the Toronto FC game in time, luckily I stumbled across Roses New York! This small restaurant is not located in a neighborhood I spend much time in so I'm kind of glad I stumbled across it by accident. The inside looks very nice and it was pretty empty when I came on Sunday. The menu has different burgers, pizza, and other entrees. I ended up getting a breaded chicken sandwich with a side of Rose's Poutine and I was pleasantly surprised with the combination! The chicken sandwich was really good and I was quite the fan of the breading used. The poutine was also good and the French fries were also flaky/breaded and made for a perfect side for the delicious gravy. Overall, Roses New York was a great experience. The server was super friendly, the food was super good, and the restaurant itself was pleasant to be in. I highly recommend coming to check this place out, it'll be worth it!

Beef kabob (with Roses salad and sweet potato fries as sides - you pay just a bit extra to get these instead of reg salad and rice)

Long story short: Good Persian eats at a reasonable price and prompt service! Long story long: Ordered the beef kebob with 2 sides (sweet potato fries and the roses salad). Everything was great! The kebob was marinated well and the meat tasted of very good quality. My partner ordered the Royal burger, which he said was good! Just needed a little ketchup to complete it. I stole one of his fries and it was good too; they seasoned well and fluffy. The crinkle cut sweet potatoes fries also tasted fresh and delicious. The calamari was not my favourite and I've definitely had better. It looked perfect, but had that "double fry", very greasy taste; I think it may have been the oil they used. Although the texture and squid inside were fine. I ordered a berry mojito. I liked the flavours, it was just watered down a lot. The staff were very attentive and kind. The food came out at a good time and we were checked on at a good pace. Overall, I recommend it :)

Food was very subpar. Our airbnb was right around the corner from Roses and we wanted to go somewhere for a quick bite. The restaurant was empty when we walked in but it was a cozy space. We ordered the nachos and veggie pizza and wish we went to McDonalds instead. For the price, it was not worth it at all. The nachos were dry, the cheese got cold really quickly, and the pizza was similar to the ones you find in the frozen aisle. Also, the onions and green pepper toppings were raw and uncooked. Kind of disappointed that this was our first meal in Toronto. I probably will never come back here.

My friends and I visited Toronto for my bachelorette weekend. Coincidentally, game 1 and 2 of the NBA finals were happening while we were there. We're from the Bay Area and die hard GSW fans. We wanted to watch game 2, and decided to go to Roses New York because it was across the street from where we were staying. We wore our Warriors gear knowing that we were walking into Raptors territory. We walked in and seen an open table, so we sat. The hostess comes up and says, "Just to let you know, if you want to sit here, each of you have to buy 1 food and 1 drink." Mind you, we'd just came from eating and wanted to drink and watch the game. So I suggested if we could buy 2 drinks instead. The hostess said it shouldn't be a problem but she had to double-check with her manager. She comes back and says, "My manager said that 2 drinks equals 1 food, so you would have to buy 3 drinks." OK, whatever. Then I noticed a couple sitting next to us and between the two of them, they had a pizza and 1 beer. Strange. Why were we subject to purchase a drink and a food item, if it wasn't a requirement for everyone? Anyways, everyone ordered their drink and appetizer. I ordered two drinks. My first drink was Jameson on the rocks. For $9 you would think they'd pour all the way to the rim. Nope! They gave me a shot of Jameson with ice. I was so disappointed (pic attached). We weren't planning to stay the entire game, so we asked for the check before the first half ended. I figured, if I wasn't going to buy a third drink, I'll leave instead, and free up the table for another group to sit. So we received our check, and noticed that gratuity was already included. Mind you, there were only 4 of us. To my understanding, gratuity is usually included for parties of 6 or more, unless they do it differently in Canada? We were puzzled, so my friend asked the manager about it. You could tell the manager was trying to come up with a lie because she was stuttering and her reason didn't make sense. She said that gratuity was included because it was a special night and so we wouldn't have to calculate the tip on our own, as if we didn't know how? What a load of bullsh*t. We strongly believe it's because we weren't from there and I didn't purchase that third drink. Whatever, though. The whole time we were in Toronto, everyone was so nice, kind, and polite everywhere else. But this place was just disgusting from the time we arrived until we left. I've never felt so unwelcome. I would never come back to this place, nor would I recommend it to anyone. No wonder it's a 3-star mediocre bar.

A perfect place to celebrate with all your friends. Good prices the burgers are the best! Special promotion during the weekdays. Also you can book the whole place for your parties and the have everything music, deco (if you needed). Great service, parking around the street. Big screams for enjoying match games

We went there as it was one of the few places open close by (Labour Day) without any expectations as this place is never busy. I'm not sure why though, they have a nice patio, service was good, prices fair. Burger on the pic was 16$ nice seasoning, ingredients tasted fresh, and I really liked the fries. I'll come back and try their nachos.

Pizza special $10. Chicken, olives, sundried tomatoes, peppers and lots of mozzarella.

I've walked by this restaurant a few times and always wondered why it was empty. Thought I would try it out and I'm kind of surprised because the food tastes so much better and affordable than some of the other restaurants on that strip and the decor isn't bad. They open till 2am for food. Food: Love their burgers. If you like the middle eastern spice flavour, their burger meat is filled with it and quite flavourful. Comes with a side of fries, sweet potato fries or salad. I also really like their flatbread. Good size and lots of toppings. Their pizza's are a decent size as well and always come with lots of toppings. Drinks: standard selection Decor: modern, cozy, lounge like atmosphere. Great place to have a private party or drop by for food or drinks if you don't want to make dinner that night. Too bad the crowd is usually small, but I don't mind. Service: prompt and attentive. Appears they have some regulars that drop by and like to carry conversation with the servers, but that shouldn't upset anyone as I've read in some of the reviews. The servers still do their jobs and check on their other patrons. Overall: this place has potential, I would check it out if you live in the area and just want to grab a bite close by or if your down watching a game.

Service was good. The sausage dip app was not good. I was going to order the eggplant one but last minute changed my mind. Wish I didn't as I assume eggplant one would be better. The sausage tasted basically like cheap hot dogs. On the other hand the kebabs dish (ordered the chicken and beef one) was good. Good, not great / mind blowing. I enjoyed it and definitely reasonably priced. I would go again but I'd skip the sausage dip. Also I'd like to try their shisha next time around.

Roses - Toronto. This is one of the worst restaurants for brunch that I've been to. The food is really bad. Coffee is not fresh, it's served from a pitcher. The sauce of eggs Benedict is awful and the French toast is just a piece of bread.

I heard a lot about this place, I came by around august and it was closed for renovations. Space looks good, menu is fairly interesting, I ordered a chubby pizza, lots of flavour, would easily feed two people, one person if you are really hungry. Service however is poor. The hostess was helpful but one of the servers was too busy chatting with her friend the entire time, I tried to get her attention multiple times but I was completely ignored, to the point I had to get up and ask the hostess for the bill. Over all experience was not so good. If I ever felt like having their food, I'll order as delivery. Pizza Coke Hst ------ Total $ 22.45

Small hole-in-the-wall but great Alice's and pies. I think it's the best regular pizza/slices in Williamsburg. Consistent, nice folks.

The first course was Labneh with bread, hummus, & beef tartare. Second course was Lamb pide & pear salad. Third course was grilled branzino, middle eastern fried chicken, black truffle rice, and thrice cooked fries. Then there was dessert which was chocolate mousse cake & baklava. Because of my many food allergies the main server for our table was very attentive & specific in asking me what I wanted as modifications. For example I got a wagyu beef pide instead of the lamb. Every dish was really delicious, presented well & quite filling. I couldn't eat all of the food. Though I tried almost everything. Service: The pacing of the dishes was quite masterful. They really paid attention to when the food was going to come out. As I mentioned above the main server was very attentive to my food allergies. I really appreciated that as some restaurants aren't as attentive. The food was served family style so everyone could take what they wanted from the serving dishes. The dishes were served in little bowls along the tables with each bowl serving about 4 people. We had asked for one long table so it was a little snug. But we made it work. Ambiance: For dinner the lighting of the space is really dim. LOL. I would have appreciated just a little bit more light. The restaurant is in an old building so to use the washroom you had to go down two flights of stairs. The dining area is small also. But it's a pretty space. As mentioned above we asked for one long table to seat 15 people. I was expecting square tables but it was a bunch of small round tables pushed together. So the tables were really crowded with food from all the dishes. But the servers made sure to take empty serving dishes away as soon as possible. The music was a little loud for me so I had to yell to be heard. The place was packed though. Everyone at our table enjoyed the food, the service & atmosphere. The restaurant is close to Roy Thompson Hall & the other theatres nearby so it's a convenient location as well. It's too bad this place is only open for dinner. I would have loved to see how they would operate a lunch time service. In any case, Byblos was amazing. I would come back here again to try other dishes! Note: Some of my pics of the main dishes didn't turn out so it's mostly desserts that are pictures

There's always something going on in the area, so it makes it a lively place to grab food, especially at night. I went around 10 PM last night and it was packed. The ambience is pretty basic, it's a small joint with a few tables and chairs, nothing fancy. It's clean and organized, but you can't really expect some super aesthetic interior considering the location and the constant flow of people. There's limited seating, just enough for a few groups, so it definitely feels more like a takeout spot than somewhere you'd sit and hang out for a long time. They get a lot of customers, so you can expect a bit of a wait, but honestly the service was impressively fast. We waited maybe 5-10 minutes max for our food. We got it to go, and everything was ready quickly and handled efficiently. The main star of the show was the chicken shawarma wrap. It was delicious, crispy, flavourful, and packed with everything we asked for. The sauce was so good and really brought everything together. I definitely recommend adding the pomegranate molasses. It adds such a nice sweet tangy flavour and makes the wrap even better. Overall, it was a really good experience. Fast service, solid food, and a fun location right in the middle of the action.
