I have two high energy pit mixes whose leash reactivity had gotten worse in the past half year, and it had reached a point where it was unmanageable because they would start barking and lunging at other dogs even from a healthy distance. I met with a few trainers to get a sense of their methods and styles, and Ceslie felt like the best match because of how she took the extra time to know my dogs and understand their behavior before recommending a plan, compared to others who jumped into training without asking many questions. There was a noticeable difference in how my dogs responded to Ceslie after their first class. She was thoughtful in customizing a plan that fit their needs, from teaching proper corrections to reinforcing obedience to providing the right equipment. She also taught me how to be a better handler (something often overlooked in training!), and it's truly strengthened my relationship with my pups. We had weekly sessions over the course of a month and there has been significant improvement in my dogs' behavior. Walks are stress-free and enjoyable again because we're able to bypass other dogs without issues, their door etiquette has improved, and we're now slowly working on their separation anxiety (slow and steady process but we're making progress!). The entire team is AMAZING. They're consistently on time, incredibly communicative, thoughtful, and absolutely hilarious. The pictures, jokes, and stories they send throughout the day regularly have me falling off my chair laughing. Asher is a bit of an older gentleman, and they're so attentive to his individual needs, whether that means taking it easy on hot days or making sure he's socializing with other well-behaved pups in their carefully curated playgroups. And if you need proof of just how much these people love their dogs, when Asher was sick and spent a few days in the dog hospital, the entire Sniff crew sent him a get-well-soon gift. I can't even express how much that meant to me. I also travel often for work, and knowing Asher has a second home at Camp Sniff with Heather and her family takes an enormous mental load off my plate. The pictures of him adventuring around Fort Funston, hanging with his dog friends, and generally living his best life are priceless. They keep me completely updated on how he's doing, including immediately flagging anything that seems even slightly off. I never have to wonder whether he's safe, happy, or being loved. Asher is beside himself with excitement every time one of his walkers comes through the door and absolutely LOVES going to stay with Heather. TLDR: Poor communication, never confirmed feeding instructions for our dog, never got our…read moreprescription wet food back, and I felt an overall concern for the safety of my dog while in their care. We brought our foster dog to Pet Camp in hopes of helping build his confidence but ended up being super disappointed and confused during the whole experience and felt that Pet Camp really failed him. Scheduling the appointment wasn't too hard, they said they'd reach out to me via phone to finish our profile for our dog. We set up a time and they did not reach out, like they said, but I was able to call them the following day and finish setting up the profile. For his first day, we included a bag with his prescription grade wet and dry food- along with a couple toys, an article of clothing for smelling etc.- these were all things that we were asked to bring but when my partner went to drop him off, Pet Camp thought he was being boarded "because of all the stuff he has" (??). Pick up went smooth but when we got home we realized they did not pack his wet food back into his bag, which we thought was strange since the can was brand new. After talking to my partner, we also realized that no one had confirmed with either of us how much our dog was supposed to be fed per meal!! We had to call the next morning and check in on both of these things since we had planned to bring him back that day.... They were apologetic about not checking in on his portion sizes and confirmed how much they fed him, which wasn't far off. They also said they will keep the wet food in the fridge, if the dog is coming back the next day...all of that seemed good. When we went to pick up our dog after the second day, we let them know we would not be scheduling him for another session at that time. When we got home, we realized we were charged a different price than the day before. It turns out they stuck our dog in the most expensive group, which is allowing him (a 10lb tiny chiweenie) to hang out with all of the big and small dogs outside for the entire day, with only an hour inside to eat and nap. Our dog is a timid tiny dog and the package that was chosen for him at the beginning was partial outside and partial 1:1 time with a councilor. This was very different and not what he needed or wanted. Another thing we noticed was, of course, no wet food was brought back on the second day (even after we confirmed that he will not be returning). We now need to wait for a new prescription from his vet to get another refill on his food since that was his last can. When we called Pet Camp later that day to figure out why we were charged extra, we learned about them putting him in the other group and were not offered any sort of refund of the difference or real explanation as to why they made this choice. We were just told they were sorry and he had "fun playing all day". Too many basic communication issues and I don't feel safe leaving my dog here. It seems all of their negative reviews share the same complaint about communication.

The person working there was very nice and I think they care about animals... but they still buy some animals from breeders/breeding mills to resell them... It's really sad that some pet stores still do this, while so many rescued animals need homes. I hope The Animal Connection with do the right thing by transition to rescue-only and partner with local rescues to help get animals adopted who needs homes, and stop buying/selling any animals from breeders/breeding mills. Please do the right thing! Myself and soooo many other animal guardians really want to support businesses like yours, but not animal exploitation.
