Who can actually say, "I LOVE MY DENTIST!" Dr. Emam is a great dentist. Her office is state of the art (digital exrays, new equipment etc.) and her staff is skilled and professional. The exams are thorough and she explains everything. The other great thing is that the office feels like you are going over to a friends house (a friend with high tech equipment and knows how to use it!). The receptionist rocks. She keeps up on the whole insurance thing and lets you know costs before you even ask! I have lots of other stupid health issues and the hygienist had obviously done some research on the meds I am on so when I came in the next time, she was able to talk with me about how they might effect my teeth! I've never been to a dental office quite like this before. Dr. Emam and her staff put patient care right up there with customer service. First off, the chairs are super comfortable and soft. They feel like luxurious massage chairs. Then while I was getting my cavities filled (yes I had cavities), I got to watch my choice of entertainment on the flat screen...so naturally I chose Grey's Anatomy. While they were drilling and buzzing away, I was deep into season's 1 episode 1 and 2! And I almost even cried on episode 2...however the best thing of all was that when the shows were over, Dr. Emam was also done and she did a wonderful job! With Dr. Emem as my dentist, I was under the care of someone fully dedicated to her craft and her patients, rather than her predecessor's focus on retirement and restoring vintage automobiles. Not only does Dr. Emam possess the world's lightest touch with the needle, she also has applied up-to-date dental technology to the care of my teeth including replacing her predecessor's silver amalgam fillings and perfunctory placed crowns, no doubt saving many a tooth. During the intervening years, she has upgraded the X-ray to digital and replaced her therapeutic tools with the latest technology so that previously undetectable conditions such as jaw infections and tooth resorption are apparent and, should the need arise, appropriate procedures are quickly and relatively painlessly applied or, if the treatment is beyond general or cosmetic dentistry, referrals to similarly outstanding specialists given. Beyond her clinical expertise and the office's advanced technology, what makes Dr. Emam's practice special is the pride and dedication she brings to her craft along with a genuine concern for her patients. DO NOT use this dentist! My mouth is ruined because of the work of this dentist. I have been told by 3 dentist, that the work is "mediocre at best". I have had everything fixed, replaced and have decay under everything this dentist stuck in my mouth. I have "jagged edges" between my teeth, I am now pre-disposed to gum disease. I now have to see a specialist to have my teeth restored as best I can. I was not aware, they are nice people but didn't realize the damage in my mouth until things started breaking and falling out, literally. How are we to know, we just open our mouth and have no way to know if the work is good or bad. Well this dentist work is BEYOND BAD. Save your teeth, do not use this dentist. read more

Dr. Emam is a great dentist. My husband was one of her first patients (seriously, his patient account number is 3) and I switched to her a few years ago. She did a super-thorough exam, the first I've ever had where the dentist went through my mouth tooth by tooth and checked the gum pockets and state of each tooth. She then compares against that at the subsequent visits. She also noticed that a couple of my old metal fillings were starting to need replacement, and she managed to not completely freak me out doing it (I'm way dentist phobic), thanks to her calming, gentle bedside manner. The hygienist is super-nice, gets my teeth very clean, and has a light touch. Just edited to take off one star. I just called to reschedule my appointment tomorrow, and got quite a bit of attitude from the receptionist (who has usually been very nice). Granted, I was within minutes of 24 hours' advance notice, but it was still 24 hours' notice. read more

Never thought I would love my dentist so much! I've been through LOTS of dentists in multiple cities, and always tried to avoid going. After moving to California, I decided to bite the bullet and find a dentist. Many reviews later, I tried Dr. Emam and am so glad! She has all modern, high tech equipment, and showed me digital images of each tooth. She's also quite thorough and transparent, which works well for me. I typically fall asleep during my cleanings/dental work since she's so gentle. I've also taken my partner to see her. He's had very bad dental experiences, needing anesthetics before any dental works (cleanings, etc). She was amazing with him. Her assistants are very sweet and it's clear they work well together. I've been going to her for a few years, and though I moved to San Francisco, I'll continue to make the haul down to see her. For me, that's a big deal :) read more

Her dental practice is about delivering quality dental care. She is very experienced and I have never had any problems with her in the decades I have been going to her. One of the many things I love about Dr. Emam's office is that the three of them form such a tight team, they work together beautifully, and as such provide a high level of patient care. They are like a family and they make you feel invited in, and also make you feel important. They care about what they do and it shows not only in their work but in follow up care as well. When my insurance changed, Dr. Emam was no longer covered by my new plan, but I chose to stay with her and her team rather than look for a new dentist that was covered under the new plan. If that doesn't tell you how highly I think of them, well, I'm not sure how else to put it. Dr. Emam is a great dentist and a wonderful person, her chairside manner is top notch. She is pro-active and believes in prevention which is a great thing in most situations. I had two old silver fillings she thought should be replaced and since I trusted her, I was all for it. One of the fillings turned out fine, however the other did not and I recently had to have a root canal to get it to stop hurting me. The endodontist found that I had an extra long root with a "high pulp horn" which just meant the extra drilling required for the new filling came too close to an unusually high nerve. I don't feel I was given all the information prior to having my filling replaced. I felt she should have warned me that when they drill into a tooth, it might lead to root canal, whether or not the tooth was hurting you before hand. She put a temporary filling in the tooth and then a crown, all in an effort to get it to stop hurting me. She then suggested I "wait" and have more "patience", which I did for 3 months. To go from not having any dental pain, to not being able to chew on one side of my mouth was frustrating. Furthermore, replacing old fillings just because they are old is highly controversial in the dental field so please do your homework before allowing any dentist to replace an old filling, maybe even get a second opinion. The endodontist advised me to not let dentists do that unless there is decay under the old filling. I have since switched dentists and will have spent nearly $1000 out of pocket ($2200 total with insurance) for the root canal and crown. Had I heard the words "possible root canal" before she re-did the fillings, I would've said no way and taken my chances on an old silver filling that wasn't hurting me to begin with. read more
