I'm really surprised with how low the ratings are for Rosin Eyecare. My experience was great! Every staff member was extremely helpful and friendly. I had a late appt on a Friday and was in need of a solid quality pair of glasses. I did not feel rushed to make a decision so they could go home for the night. Everyone was patient and made sure I was making a choice that was best for me. The inside is very dated, that's the only reason why I took a star off. Everything else was fantastic. Gene took my initial color blindness tests and photos for deep into my eyes. She was great at explaining every step of the way. Dr. Kaur is also awesome. She thoroughly explained the results of my images and what she was seeing with my eye health. Bonnie helped me with the process of fitting my glasses and making sure I got the lenses that are best for my lifestyle. Everyone was great and I'm extremely happy I went here for my eye needs. read more

Came here for glasses and contacts for the kids and me after my previous spot closed. The various optometrists that each one of us saw were friendly and involved me as necessary. The building and interior is a little dated, but the staff were friendly and provided appointment reminders by text and email. There's quite a selection of frames to choose from making it easier for those getting glasses to find the right one at the right price. I went in for new contacts and switched to a different brand with the help of the optometrist and some trials. So glad that I got something that works and what options were available to me. Time to get new glasses ranged from 2 weeks and 1 1/2 month. Guessing labor shortage and supply chain issues are causing a backlog. Overall, very happy finding this new place for the family. read more

Dr Kaur was delightful and took her time with my exam - I hadn't had an exam since 2018. Bonnie did my pre- exam and she was patient and very friendly. I probably should have read the reviews before heading to this place. I too would give it zero stars as customer service is clearly not important. I received a new prescription and brought in my own frames to which they claimed due to covid they could not replace the lenses I would have to buy new two new frames since I needed one pair for the computer and one pair for the everyday. After asking around this was not standard practice and essentially it was a way to make me pay more. Also, when I called about coming in for contact fittings (which they did not offer when I was in originally) I was told I would need to pay additionally since this was not covered by my insurance. I followed up with a different location and was told that I definitely still had this benefit available so either they did not take the time to look properly or just wanted me to pay additional fees. Finally, I was attempting to order a pair sunglasses and realized that they prescription they gave me did not have the PD listed. When I called they told that they had the information but did not give it to me when I purchased my glasses and was told I would need to come and pay an additional $25. I do not typically write reviews but having had multiple bad experiences I wanted to share so that others don't. read more

My entire experience with Rosin EyeCare was subpar. Environment: The facility felt forgotten about. It doesn't look like it has been updated in years. The space is awkward and did not have the feel of a medical or wellness facility. Eye Exam: I liked the doctor herself well enough. However, when she was prescribing she stated that the astigmatism in my right eye was so minimal I did not need toric lenses though I have always had toric lenses in my right eye. So when I placed the order and received my contacts I thought I was going crazy because with my brand new prescription everything was still blurry and resulted in headaches unless I wore my glasses. I had to go back for a new exam at which point she recognized that I really did need a toric lens in my right eye. Ordering: Awful. Wow, just awful. I only wanted to order contacts because I was not a fan of the frames that they had and I had a pair of glasses picked out from a brand that they do not carry. They were SO PUSHY about the glasses. I stood my ground and did not purchase. They billed the wrong insurance. They added a FocusCare or some such package to the bill without explaining it to me and when I asked them to remove it, somehow my out of pocket expense went up. They entered my address wrong even though I asked them to correct it several times. Receipt of Lenses The first order with the incorrect Right eye lens took two week when it was supposed to be 2 days. The second order only took an extra week. When it had been a week and still no call letting me know they were in I called; I waited a week and a half for the first order. It seemed like they did not put the order in either time until I called to check the status. I've had much better experiences at America's Best and Target Optical. I absolutely would not go back. My wife had gone there with my two boys and their exams were covered by our insurance, so I went there and got an exam and a pair of glasses. $250 later I was asked to if I wanted "to buy insurance that is 100% covered for one year." I questioned that statement and said "so if at any time during that first year my glasses are scratched for any reason you will replace the lenses at no cost?" to which she replied yes. I should have known better, because 9 months into my warranty my son scratched my lenses and now they are telling me they are only 100% covered for the first 30 days and then are discounted by 20% less each month there after. There was a child there, so I bit my tongue and came to yelp. PLEASE BE AWARE OF THEIR WARRANTY SCAM. read more

I have been here a few times now with my children to get eye exams for school. I am impressed with their level of professionalism and compassion for their patients. I am also throughly impressed with their ability to handle small children and their patience with children. If you have children you know they don't always cooperate with doctors and get scared easily. Every single one of the employees I have encountered were extremely helpful and were able to set my children's nerves at ease and walked them through their eye exams seemlessly. I will continue to bring my children here for their yearly eye exams, and if needed in the future their glasses needs as well. I strongly encourage anyone on the fence about this place to give it a try despite some of the negative reviews below. I think some people are more prone to write a review about medical providers when they have had a negative experience vs when they have had a pleasant experience. read more

I was NOT happy with my experience here. I was forced to find a new eye doctor when I found out that our new insurance at work didn't cover my old eye doctor (who I've had for 18 years). Eye appointments typically take about 30 minutes, right? I was in the office for 1 hour and 30 minutes. Much of that time was spent waiting around. The doc must have been a pediatrician in a past life. Either that or she thought I was 12 years old (I'm 27) because she was talking to me like I was a child, and though that might be her personality or she thinks it's cute, it felt very condescending. They told me that my brand of contacts are being discontinued, so they put me in something different. The entire drive home, I couldn't see street signs. Comforting to know that what they are putting people in are terrible lenses. Put my old pair in (same prescription numbers) and could see perfectly. They also told me that what I was using for cleaner (Opti-Free - highly recommended by many) wasn't that good and I should be using something else. Found out later that they do not sell Opti-Free at the office; imagine that! They also gave me a ridiculous price for contacts. I'm currently waiting for them to confirm my old prescription via 1-800-CONTACTS. We'll see if they approve it or give me issues about it... read more

Bad experience received as I stepped in -- no welcoming or greeting or anything. There were 4 ladies (receptionists or assistants) sitting in front of their own computers/desks. Nobody paid attention! I had to wait for a while before the nearest lady asked (yelled) at another faraway lady to 'take' me. Then she told me to wait until either one of them are available -- at this point, no smile, no impression that they are willing to greet/treat me as their NEW customer. During helping me out, ordering contact lens, the lady was not quite professional and seems to not know what she should do -- had to confirm with another lady sitting near her (working on her computer screen) I usually don't write a 1-star review or unsatisfied review for any business, after I felt very uncomfortable during my visit the entire time, I felt like, okay, this might be the first and only one! P.S. There're a lot of vision shops in Naperville and around neighborhood (and I should for a good one before I decide to choose their service this time), I'm not going back there, of course. read more

As a child my parents brought me to Rosin Eyecare for exams and glasses. When MY son needed glasses, it was a place I went. But given the most recent experience, I will never return. In February 2019, we brought in a prescription for replacement lenses. About 6 months later, my son started complaining that he was having difficulty seeing. Finally December 2019, I took him in 3 months earlier than his scheduled eye exam to another facility where he saw a pediatric optometrist. I took that December 2019 prescription to Rosin to get new lenses. When I asked if the current lenses match the February 2019 prescription, I was told that the lenses in his glasses were made using a February 2018 prescription. So, 1) they made lenses with an expired prescription for a child 2) When I asked for a discount to pay for new lenses, I was told that it was my fault for providing a 2018 prescription (in 2019) and all they could offer was a 30% discount. So, my son suffered because they produced the same lenses for 2 years in a row on an expired prescription. Taking my business elsewhere, didn't feel that they took any responsibility. Then when I picked them up, they weren't evenly adjusted, they were chipped, and the prescription was totally wrong. It may have been because I had just had a horrible experience from my last eye doctor's office and this was so much better, but I thought this place was great. I hated the front desk people at my old place and had just had enough of them not helping me, so I decided to find another office. I was in a pinch because I was out of contacts and was trying to get in within a day or two. They accommodated me and were great when I arrived. The doctor took her time with me, but had my exam done in about 30 minutes which I think is record time compared to what I'm used to. I was then escorted to a person who helped me order contacts who was also very friendly and helpful. I don't know how competitive they are as far as pricing, but in happy with my service so far. read more

I have been a patient at Rosin for about 10 years now, and the quality of customer service at the North Naperville location has declined consistently over the last few years. The final straw for me was when I tried to schedule an appointment for myself and my two young children. Even though they had plenty of open appointment slots, the scheduler refused to make appointments for more than 2 family members for the same date. So I would have to schedule 2 different dates for the 3 of us (myself and two young children). I asked to speak to a manager. I wasn't allowed to speak to a manager but was told by the scheduler that it's their policy not to schedule more than 2 family members on the same date and there's nothing that can be done about it. I called the South Naperville location and spoke to Cara, the manager, who said the South Naperville location has no such policy. Cara went out of her way to make evening appointments for the 3 of us on the same date. Save yourself the unnecessary grief -- skip North Naperville and go to the South Naperville location instead. read more

My son was home from college for fall break and we had scheduled an eye exam 6 months ago to make sure he could get in while he was home. Received a reminder post card 2 weeks ago and he showed up as scheduled yesterday. They told him he was not on the schedule and that he have come back another day. One staff in front was friendly, the other one was not nice at all. I had brought a couple of my safety glasses two weeks ago to have the nose pieces fixed. They did not do that there which does not make sense. Turns out, the customers are expected to order the part themselves and then bring it there for them to fix. Almost all of my safety glasses has the same issue. I'm sure they would have known about that and made sure to stock up on this item. But no. And not one of them thought of this. While there, I made an appointment for my yearly eye check and they wanted the same form that they were supposed to have made a copy of two weeks prior. I didn't bring the form again at my appointment date because I thought since they said they wanted that information before my appointment that they have made a copy of it. So I thought I could just go ahead with the eye exam and just order the frames later. This one woman was so hard to talk to and was not friendly at all. Clearly the other staff did not want to step in to make up for the snotty service this woman was giving me. After a long explanation, they finally agreed to have my eye exam. There was some confusion in my insurance, but they never offered to pick up the phone to clarify it, especially after I had already spent so much time there. I ended up cancelling the appointment, and I called Cigna insurance myself after I left, which apparently showed that my name was somehow removed from their system. The insurance guy simply put my name back and all was clear. That call took less than a minute, which could have been done at Rosin, but they never offered. The insurance guy said they should have done that. So, after all that, I still have a couple of safety glasses with broken nose pieces, did their job for them to clarify the insurance issue AND have yet to make another appointment. Poor service, incompetent and not very friendly staff. I would go somewhere else. read more

I show up 10 minutes early to my appointment. I walk in and I fill out paperwork, as they make photo copies of my insurance. I filled out the paperwork stating I wanted a Glaucoma test. I wait like 20 minutes until all paperwork is filed and someone sees me. They do a few eye tests and have me sit back down. I wait another 15 minutes until the doctor sees me. The doctor first performs my eye exam, then the Glaucoma test, and finally the dilation test. After the eye exam, she told me my vision was -1.00 in my right eye and -1.25 in my left. My original prescription was -1.25 and -1.25. But when she handed me the print out of my prescription, she said "Oh, the prescription says -1.00 and -1.00. Looks like both of your eyes got better!" ... so I'm wondering why she told me one thing but entered it in the system as another and sounded surprised by it??? Also, with my glaucoma test, she told me "This is the glaucoma test. we don't do the poof anymore, we do eye drops" but I never found out what my results were. For the dilation test, she told me I had elevation in my retinas which could mean a tear. See below for more details. While my eyes are dilating for the dilation test, she has me go pay. The girl told me it is $75. I was shocked. I asked how much my insurance even covered and she said none. I asked her "How come nobody told me my insurance did not go through? If I had known this was going to be $75, I would have gone to Pearl Vision for $50." and she replied "I don't know." So I asked "Does that include my glaucoma test?" and she said "There's nothing in the file here that says you got a glaucoma test." I was fed up so I just said "Well I'm pretty upset that no one told me my insurance did not go through. Shouldn't that be policy to tell customers they're going to have to pay out of pocket before going through with the test?" She then went to her manager and the manager gave me 25% off, making it $56.25. I kept asking how my insurance didn't go through because I found Rosin Eyecare off of the BCBS website, meaning they accept BCBS. Anyway, I paid because I had been there for 1.5 hours and I wanted to leave this incompetent place. There's more! I call BCBS and they told me Rosin did not even try to submit a claim to BCBS. The BCBS lady told me they do cover Rosin. The BCBS lady said she tried calling Rosin but they weren't open. I just let it go and decided to eat the cost. A week later, my DAD calls me from work and says Rosin is looking for me. How the heck did Rosin get my dad's work number? I call Rosin and ask them why they called my dad's work number. They said they had his number as my primary contact number in the system. I know for a fact that I did not write down my dad's work number as my primary contact number- who the hell would do that?! Anyway, Rosin asks me for my credit card number to refund me because BCBS called them and told Rosin to bill them. There was no apology or anything from Rosin for being dumb and not billing my insurance before. I asked them how much they are going to bill my insurance and she said "We don't have that information"... how are you supposed to bill someone without knowing how much?! A week later, I checked my credit card statement and noted Rosin had charged me $56.75 but refunded me $56.25. I called Rosin and told them. I do not care about the money- it's more about how freaking incompetent every person at this place is. The Manager called me back and told me they had refunded me the exact amount they charged me. I told her no and emailed her my bank statement. Then she said sorry and to call her back. I looked at my invoice- it said $56.25 and then the credit card charge receipt said $56.75. How dumb was this person that charged me?! Really? This is how you try to steal money from customers? In addition to telling them their insurance doesn't cover the bill, without even trying to contact the insurance?!!! Anyway, I called her back and then somebody else called me back to ask for my credit card number. She told me the Manager would call me once it has been refunded. There is so much phone tag with this company (including many times related to the above) Surprise surprise, I have not received a call back! And there's more! Like I said, her "paper prescription" said -1 and -1 and NOTHING else. I spent money out of pocket to see a second optometrist since the Rosin one was so incompetent- there was no way I'd trust that simpleton. The second doctor gave me a prescription of -1 and -.75 WITH astigmatism in both eyes. She said my old glasses had astigmatism lenses and so did my old prescription. The Rosin doctor completely missed the fact that I had astigmatism! If I had used her prescription to get new lenses, she would have messed with my vision! As for the dilation test, this doctor told me I definitely had a large tear in both retinas (as opposed to the Rosin doctor who said they looked elevated and might have tears). TERRIBLE!!! read more

I've been a Rosin customer for 20+ years and count on them to craft my prescription glasses. I've always been very pleased with the precision of their prescriptions but I feel the quality of their eyewear and customer service has deteriorated significantly in recent years. My last visit was in May 2016 when I had new progressive glasses made at a cost of $499. The anti-reflective coating is wearing off on both lenses creating spots on the lenses, making the glasses unwearable. Two and a half years and the only solution is to replace the lenses. I have glasses from Rosin that are 8 to 15 years old with no visible wear on the coating. The quality of this current coating renders glasses useless in just 2.5 years. read more

I have worn glasses for 20 years. The glasses I received from Rosin are terrible. I have not even had them 6 moths and the scratch resistant layer has made them useless. They cost $500, $200 for the lenses alone. It took 2 weeks to get. You can go to Walmart or Sams club and get them much sooner and they are better. I went in to ask what they could do and they told me I didn't buy the insurance so nothing. Not even a 6 month warranty. DO NOT GO HERE unless you want to be ripped off. read more

I highly recommend this eyecare center. From the moment I walked in I was greeted with a friendly face! Dr. Sheldon was fabulous and took her time with me, considering this was my first visit ever to get my eyes checked! The exam was thorough and my prescription is exactly what I needed. After all of these years avoiding the eye doctor and denying that my eyesight wasn't so great, I can finally see clearly! The manager, Stephanie, was very patient with me while helping me pick out glasses. She wasn't pushy or trying to sell me something I didn't want or couldn't afford. She made sure I left with a pair of glasses that I felt good about wearing! I asked for information about Lasik and both the manager and Dr. Sheldon were very knowledgeable about the procedure and answered every question I had in detail. The lady selling me the glasses gave me a ridiculous price then made me feel like I couldn't afford them so she priced out thicker glasses saving me a whopping $40. If I was at the Berwyn office with the people I'm already used to I would have most definitely bought them. read more

I also had to order glasses because they found I have astigmatism. It has been over 2 weeks and I still do not have the glasses when they said it would take 2 weeks. I went for an eye exam at Rosin on Ogden Ave, in Naperville. The Optometrist I saw was Dr. Adifinger and she was just awful. She gave me the wrong prescription and I had to see a another Optometrist to get the correct prescription. It takes forever to get your glasses once they are ordered and they are never right when you get them. I will stick to Lenscrafters from now on no matter what the cost. I would rather get things done right and pay extra then to go back to Rosin. read more

I was called on Tuesday, for a Friday surgery notifying me that the doctor unexpectedly had to go out of town, over spring break. I really liked this place. The doctor that I saw was took her time. She made sure that she checked everything. She also was considerate of my plans that day as I couldn't get my eyes dilated as I would be outside the rest of that sunny day. In the past eye doctors haven't cared and said to wear sunglasses. Also, I ended up needing glasses and the lady who helped me find my glasses was very kind and patient. I am pretty picky about anything I wear and glasses that I will be wearing every day are a big one so I took my time and kept looking until I was completely satisfied. I finally decided on some very cute Ray Ban glasses and got transition lenses and some other upgrades that she recommended for the specific frames/prescription that I was getting. She said that my glasses would be able to be picked up within 10-14 days and before school starts. This is why I am giving them 4 out of 5 stars. I have been waiting 2 weeks for a call to say I can come pick up my glasses and they have still not arrived. I start school in 2 days and I will need my glasses for reading and seeing the boards and such and so I am hoping that I will be able to pick them up soon. However that is obviously not the fault of the doctor or the people assisting so if you are looking for a quality, professional, and nice experience I definitely recommend this place. read more

Dr. Lingk does not care about patients. Dr. Combs does. He cleans & preps the contacts before having you wear them. He is very thorough. The staff who made my appointment didn't check to see that I needed to see dr. Combs & scheduled me with Lingk. I waited 25 minutes & she never apologized for the wait. Dr. Combs always does even if it is only 5 minutes. Lingk did not clean the lenses & there was a film on the left lens. I could not even see the bottom two rows on the eye chart & yet, she had me leave the office saying that I should clean & soak it over night & the waxy build-up would be gone.I could not drive with that lens (a 45 minute commute),. Luckily, I had my old lenses with me. I am still having problems with the lens. Not sure if the wax hurt my eye & it is healing or if the lens doesn't fit right. Noe I have to spend 1.5 hours commuting to & from to have it checked. Nobody apologized for the inconvenience of having been scheduled with the wrong doctor. Lingk needs to serve her patients better. No one should be given a dirty lens to place in their eye. She should clean them prior to them being worn & she should not let a patient leave with a less then perfect lens. read more
