I had a terrible and honestly humiliating experience at the Ross in Bloomingdale, IL on April 21, 2026 around 10:00 PM. I was standing in line waiting to check out, minding my own business with headphones on while one register was open and the customer ahead of me had a large purchase. Out of nowhere, an employee from across the store started yelling in my direction. At first I couldn't hear because of my earbuds, but when I took one out, I heard them yelling at me to "look in another f******* direction" and accusing me of staring at them. That accusation was completely false. I was not looking at this employee at all. I was simply waiting my turn. The way this was handled, loudly and publicly, was incredibly unprofessional and embarrassing. Other customers and the cashier started looking at me like I had done something wrong, which made the situation even worse. Based on how quickly I was singled out and accused without any interaction, I genuinely feel I was negatively stereotyped based on my appearance. There was no justification for that kind of assumption or treatment. I ended up putting my items down and leaving the store because of how uncomfortable and embarrassed I felt. I've shopped at Ross many times and have never experienced anything like this. This was unacceptable behavior from staff. Customers should not be publicly yelled at, accused, or made to feel like they've done something wrong when they haven't. I hope management takes this seriously and addresses the conduct of their employees. read more

Don't walk away from your cart, even the next aisle over. They will confiscate it without asking if it bothers to anyone. I was not the only person asking around aimlessly if anyone took my cart. I like finding awesome items at fantastic deals like $180 boots for only $30. I absolutely had no idea I would find something like that here. Television is always peppered with commercials for Ross. I've seen the bright blue signs popping up in shopping centers. Family and friends that have shopped there have mixed reviews about it. Some people think its awesome. Some people think it is just like Marshalls and TJ Maxx. I was wary about checking this place out but felt prompted on a random weekday afternoon. And... it is like Marshalls and TJ Maxx. Just cheaper. Items are hit and miss. I picked up the boots, an awesome red lace dress, and a pair of rainbow slipper socks -- all for $50. Nothing else here really appealed to me, but at the same time, I wasn't really looking for anything else. Ross Dress for Less is one of my favorite department stores. I can always find many items for great deal. The store was partially organized and clean. There are lots of sections : men's, kids, women's, juniors, home goods, shoes, accessories, and way more. They have a very large variety of clothing. In the women's section there is a very great range of clothes for different occasions. They sell lots of name brand active wear like Nike, adidas, puma, and way more. They also sell lots of dress clothes and maternity clothes. I usually come here to buy active wear for very good price. In the men's department they sell shoes, joggers, ties, suits, etc. The store sells a lot of name brand shoes too like Nike, adidas, timberlands, etc. Also, the store sells lots of dresses for many different occasions. I come here to buy dresses for lots of different events and everything is reasonably priced. The store has a large selection of expensive perfumes and handbags. Handbags from Michael Kors. I always have good experiences at this store and I always end up spending countless hours here. Would definitely recommend coming to this store. read more

I am not a TJ Maxx shopper by any means, but occasionally, I have ended up in one or two. This place is the BLUE TJ Maxx. We were greeted by a guy like at Walmart, except this was a miserable 19 year old kid that did not want to greet you in any way shape or form. If I was a secret shopper, that would be in my report. ;) It was pretty funny to just laugh at, though. The store well is laid out and I would call it pretty organized. They don't seem to have a lot of stock yet, but then they just opened, so perhaps they are working with vendors to get their shelving and racks full! I found a pretty cute cardigan sweater for $15 and thought that was a good find. I also found a VERY NICE wind proof umbrella for $10 and love it. Biggest and best umbrella I have ever owned. Used it for the first time earlier this week and it works great. I'll be back soon to see if I can find any other good deals. read more

This particular store is pretty decently organized and neat. I've seen some stores look like a tornado ran through it. The biggest complaint I have is that I used to LOVE Ross for their plus size selection, but it seems their selection has almost disappeared. Not even a whole rack of plus sizes, when there used to be almost 3 full racks. And the variety is very disappointing. Just because we're big, doesn't mean we want to go around in florals or grranimals. C'mon now, get a big woman buyer in the position already! read more

After I posted this review, I noticed there are several similar reviews on Google going back 12 months ago with the same issues. Sounds like the Store Management just doesn't care. --‐-----‐---‐-------------------------------------------- I love this store, I come here way too often, but lately the service has been really bad. Last Sunday, I was in the check out line for literally an hour. The line kept on getting longer. They only had 1 regular cashier and a returns cashier. On a Sunday evening people need to get home to get prepared for the work week. It usually takes an hour+ to browse through the store for deals. They never have shopping carts available. They are usually scattered around the exit door. The previous security guards used to bring them back to the entrance area. I was there again today and the same mess from Sunday was still there, wrong size shoes and clothes in the wrong size sections. Things on the floors in the aisles. It makes it harder to shop. Also I noticed people keep leaving their things in the check out line because the wait is so long with 1 cashier. They change their minds about buying stuff or they leave. I'm sure this affectstheir sales. Today I was here during my work lunch hour and there was a long wait again and 1 normal cashier. The security guard was standing around while there were no carts again, they were near the exit. 10 ft from the security guard, but I guess it's "not his job". Several people were carrying as much as they could in their hands and dropping items. They need to either hire more people or be more organized!! read more

This store is a complete mess. All the kids/ baby clothing are not sized at all new born mixed with size 7/8 and you can't even try the clothing on the kids because they are tied to the hangers. There are clothing all over the floor and they are all dirty. Next is the kids shoe area size 10's with with in size 1's and if your lucky to find your childs size its ink tagged together so you cant get your. Childs foot into it to see if it fits. The floors are covered in dirt I took my childs shoes off to try on some shoes and her feet are black and sticky with in seconds. The only reason I gave 2 stars is because after an hour or more in the store I found some cute clothing. Thank God they fit because I had to cut the tags off so she could try them on. read more

This store is a complete disaster!! I went in there for the first time ever today looking for a dress after seeing a tv ad for dresses. This will definitely be the last time I enter this place. There were clothes everywhere!! In the dress area, every fourth piece didn't belong there. I was surprised to see anyone working because it just looks like it's been left for dead. My daughter thought that the clothes were used, like at Goodwill (although Goodwill is MUCH cleaner and more organized than this store). I'm amazed that the managers are allowing this place to be such a mess. I doubt it will stay open much longer if it continues to look like this. No one will shop there. read more

DO NOT MAKE RETURNS HERE without being careful! I visited the NEW ROSS store of NAPERVILLE IL. 60540 I returned an item and bought something else right away. it wasnt the value of the refund i received, it was less, so the cashier handed me a receipt that showed a credit balance i could use in the future. Most stores give you a gift card, all she gave me was this piece of receipt paper to use at my next purchase. I thought this was wierd and that I might lose the slip of paper., so I didnt even leave the store...I went to make another purchase right away. I went to a different line, tried to pay with this slip and the cashier wouldnt accept it. she said it needed to accompany a card that came with it. I told her the cashier did not give me a card. This cashier went to the other cashier who said she gave it to me. SHE DID NOT!! I asked for the manager. the cashier called the manager and SHE DID NOT EVEN COME UP! she simply told the cashier to tell me that their was nothing they could do without the card. I asked the cashier for the corporate phone number, and it wasnt until that point that she decided herself, to check the other cashiers garbage can. IT WAS IN THE TRASH!!!! WOW! Let me air my grievances: This store is hella unorganized, and I'm always annoyed by the dressing room policy that requires you to count your garments before and after trying them on. I'm not going to steal a $40 Calvin Klein dress, kthxbi. That said, there are decent deals to be had here if you don't mind investing some time. I occasionally find some nice workout apparel, and the home goods section is rather eclectic. If you're looking for something specific, chances are you'll be disappointed. Just like a TJ Maxx with less stuff. This is located in the same strip mall as a TJ Maxx, so if you love this kind of store, you can walk from one to the other. They have lots of stuff here, just might not be the stuff you want. I found the organization to be shoddy, like it's been pawed over several times and not reorganized. I didn't see any employees besides the cashier and the large security guard at the front door. As far as merchandise goes, it's hit or miss (like TJ Maxx). You have to enter one of these stores with lots of time and no expectations. Perhaps you'll come across something then worth purchasing. I got some Cuddle Duds (long underwear) for $5 which is a good deal. This place has LOADS of clothes in larger women's sizes, so there might be some treasures there. I found the clothes I looked at to be not my style or poorly made. Maybe I could find more if I wasn't an experienced seamstress. So if you feel like going on the hunt, this would be a good place, but I didn't find it worthy of my time. read more

They do have good deals when you can find them. They need help in the shoe isle - there are shoes all over the floor every time I have been here. The shelves always seem half empty so shopping here is really hit or miss. And let me just say it is busy on Saturdays but the line does move pretty fast. Just a side note to the cashier ANN - stop barking at me! No matter how many times you tell me to insert my chip card it does not have a chip so I can't. It is not my fault that you have to redo the transaction because of it. I wanted a buy some X-mas gift bags. I found one that I really, really liked...but there was of course a red stain on the one gift bag that I wanted to buy. I looked and there weren't any others. I went to checkout and the manager refused to discount the X-mas bag at all. She said, quite rude "We don't do that here." Mind you, it was a $2.99 gift bag. So all I really wanted was 10% off...which would have been 29 cents. The manager couldn't pull the stick out of her behind to give me a 29 cent discount on a slightly damaged gift bag. I'm not really a knit picky customer either, if they had another that wasn't flawed, I would have gladly bought that one, but they didn't. Bought a few things from here but nothing special. The place is always clean. One thing that I love about discount stores such as this is the deals you can find on luggage. Why pay insane prices for a few handbags at Macy's when you can get the same branded luggage for significantly less here! I also find good deal on bras, which are ridiculously priced as it is. Came here to buy a winter jacket. There wasn't a big selection, just multiple sizes and colors of a few styles of a few brands. There are Michael Kors and Calvin Klein wool coats but these wool coats are only like 60% wool and I've seen coats of those brands at higher warmth. This location does have a lot of nice designer handbags but from last seasons. Like tj Maxx or marshalls this store is always going to be a bit messy, it's just that type of store which doesn't bother me. The time I came in this cashier named Yadira was working and she was very, very rude. She barely answered any questions I had and she just had a nasty tone. Trent was the young manager on duty. I had my receipt and two men's shirts 7.99 each. I bought at Christmas for gifts. I took off the ROSS tags (gifts)... Left attached was the Brands labels only. Trent said because my receipt was 2014 and not 2015 they could not credit me even with store credited. To my dismay, I am a customer that lives close and shops often. I leave "coin" with your location often! I was looking for store credit as I would be shopping again. He said even the store manager Kathy would not be a to help as that is your policy. I will not be back these shirts were of little value compare to what I continue to spend. Love the prices here. You do have to do some digging and they are really strict on the dressing room policy. No bags allowed inside the rooms and the lady must count each item with a limit of 5 i think. A bit of a nuisance to have to step out and change out clothing each time. I guess they must have a lot of theft issues. Still, it's a great place for good deals and I'm glad one opened up so close by. read more

So I came here with the girlfriend when she was looking for something nice to wear at an upcoming internship fair at her school. Upon walking into the store my first impression was is this a TJ Maxx? The store is laid out the same way as a TJ Maxx marshals etc. as previous reviewer's are saying so I don't know if these companies are related in anyway. All the clothes that you look through appear to be the rejects from the rejects either from wherever they purchase this stuff from or from other shoppers actually finding something good and leaving the rest of the tacky clothes behind. The one thing that came out of this trip is that the one person planning on not buying anything did. I found two nice fitted caps that normally cost a fortune in the mall for less then 20.00 for the pair. Not a bad price, maybe I'll return by myself sometime. read more

We were just at the Ross today in Bloomingdale, 6/23/19 and our experience wasn't great. We shop at Ross all the time and decided to try another one but I don't think we will be returning. Everything was fine until we made it to the check out line. The entire queue was filled which is understandable because it was a Sunday but the thing was that there were only two cashiers available. We waited in that line for about 25 minutes for a few items. There was also an employee, Catlynne I believe, who was just standing there talking to a cashier and distracting her, making it take even longer to finally get our items payed for. Finally a lady had to ask for another cashier to be opened but Catlynne was just standing around talking when she could have opened a register. Ryan or Adam was very kind to open up another register so the process would speed up. I hope you guys will get better management. read more
