Decent Ross location that seems a little smaller than most spots. They have the usual departments- men's, women's, kids, housewares, etc. Security is always really nice as are the other employees. They usually do not have a lot of checkers so the line can be a little long. If you are looking for every day items at a decent price, you should be able to find them at this store. My husband can usually find some decent sports gear to rep our local teams. read more

This Ross just lets in anybody. In the ten mins I was there, we saw 3 different dogs which barked and skittered around when they saw my service dog. Ross should not be allowing these poorly behaved dogs into the store especially because they're super annoying and it's not safe to have such behavior. Also, the store may be organized, but the racks are placed such that it is not disability accessible. read more

Since I was in the neighborhood, I decided to check out Ross since my daughter needed a cookie jar and I was looking for Christmas gifts for my very short list this year and found a cookie jar for my daughter, new fitness mat for hubby as he will be starting yoga later this month, as well as a Cusinart induction ready 3 quart pot to replace the one my daughter is using in her shop! I found all three and the store is well stocked for Christmas but the aisles are very narrow and hard to navigate through when other people are shopping. read more

It's not the most organized place, but are any of these department stores really that organized? It's almost as organized as a Home Goods store. While this Ross isn't the biggest store, it hasn't failed me in terms of finding a good deal with a variety of options to choose from. I honestly wish I'd remember to check out Ross for better deals compared to other full price department stores. They may not always be the nicest products, but you'll always find something interesting that you like. The employees are generally pretty friendly to me, but they could do a nicer job of keeping the products organized. Tough job though, of course. Also, a good thing to note is that Ross actually has a "Senior Discount Day!" The store attendant told me that was on Tuesday, which may be about 10% off your purchase, but you'll have to double check that. Also, returns are good for up to 30 days, which is standard. I bought a few rugs to see if I'd like in my living room, which I'm super excited to open along with a couple bathroom items. Always got some good stuff to buy at Ross! read more

Super mean worker there was a loud beeping noise in the shoes and he aproached me and my friends with a very sudden tone and said what heppend and when i replyed he ignored me and kept walking so me and my friends left to a different isle and he followed us and he made me feel uncomftorable so we left ross and im making this complant not because im angry because its for the safety of people to definently not shop at the castro valley ross. Great service from all staff. Including store manager Christina (I think) Store was organized upon reopening due to Covid closure. Loss prevention team was friendly. Special shout out to STEPHAN! It was his first time on the register and the opening day was crazy. He was professional, polite, knowledgeable and he did not appear to be overwhelmed. Came in to see car cell phone charger options. Just saw what the auto parts store had nearby was hoping for the good stuff to be here. The electronics section is up front. Very picked through. Odd stuff left behind. Found a cheap aux cord though that I will leave in a car I dont use much just in case. Not the most pleasant shopping experience but to no fault of the people working here. A guy obviously there with a fashonista gf or wife sits bored to death in the corner. 3 checkers, a small line. I pass the time with this review. read more

I always find something at this Ross location (and every Ross location). Prices are reasonable. Lots of items from shoes, clothes, to household goodies and even snacks! The only gripe is with their price stickers. It is awfully stuck to all the products. I bought really nice wooden serving platters and the wood was ruined because the sticky gunk from the price stickers would not come off. Same for shoes. The stickiness stay and when wearing the shoes, it's uncomfortable feeling as your skin/socks stick to the gunk. It's on all the products and luckily I can use rubbing alcohol on glass products to remove the sticky gunk. But all other items are ruined. Maybe it's time to suggest to corporate to use a different adhesive. read more

Ahhh Ross; For people like me who love a deal an don't mind that there is not much handing holding going on. What i mean by hand holding is there isn't much help to find things or prices let alone employees here. Parking here is slim to none so know that going in; you go here to get deep discounts on products; I almost think TJ max is better. What Ross really lacks is customer service. There was over 10 people in line for 10 minutes till they opened a second person. They have 8 places to run check out people but only run 1 or 2 at a time. The workers here are nice enough but man do they move SLOW! Talk about being paid by the hour here. They will just take there sweet ass time taking the hangers off getting you out of the door. I mean it's not a huge issue but if you are in a rust I would avoid going to Ross. They move at there own place and it's slow. They do have a good selection of products; i went in looking for a cheap gym bag; I like to keep on my stuff together and wanted something simple with a arm handle to hold my bag. I didn't want to be that guy with the man purse. I found what i wanted and some other low price gym gear. I go here to buy stuff I don't really care about; conformable clothing is always nice. They have good deals in here but you will need to dig and find it yourself. Just don't get crazy in the long lines and enjoy the way. It's worth the money you will save. But just have patience when you shop at Ross you will need it. read more

I used to like shopping at Ross ten years ago. Now Ross in Castro Valley is like another DDs store. The quality of clothings aren't any different and the people that shop there. Rarely i give a store a second chance after an extended period of time and today it was just that day. I shopped for couple of hours and Needed to use their restroom. I was asked to leave my cart outside the bathroom area and of course I did. I wasn't long inside, but when I came out of the restroom my cart was no where to be found. I took a look at the near by aisle and NADA. Sucks to have spent that time at Ross. Not returning to these Ross in the Bay Area, it's a waste of my time and effort. I bought a few items from Ross. 1 item in specific were the pillows. If you have ever bought pillows from Ross. You would know that they come in a 2 pack incased with plastic. The lady ringing me up literally dug her hands through my pillows. Her excuse was to find tags other people may have thrown in there. Never had this ever happened to me before and I had bought pillows countless times. Especially during a pandemic and the new Delta variant. She had her hands digging through pillows that you lay your head on. She did not sanitize her hands, nor did she put on gloves. I already knew she was checking if I stole anything. Since she opened a bag I had bought as well. But for her to dig her hands through pillows that were wrapped and to say she was looking for "tags" were uncalled for. My sister then continued to tell her I was going to grab new pillows. Since she dug her hands in my pillows and guess what. She had no problem with us getting new pillows. Since obviously nothing was stolen. Disgusting and definitely not covid friendly to have dirty unsanitized hands going through a wrapped enclosed plastic bag. Purchased a trash can from this joke of a store this evening. Got home, the product was defective and missing an item. Called the store and the first representative Jennifer told me she could not check to see if there was another product on the floor because she was busy and could not leave the register. She then asked me to return to the store tonight. Did I mention it's 10:12 pm PST? When I advised her I could not drive back to the store this evening I asked if she could locate the product and place it on hold for an exchange tomorrow morning. She told me it was against store policy. I asked what I was to do and was placed on hold. The alleged assistant store manager Carlos picked up the call. I explained I was placed on hold by Jennifer. He says he was told I had a question. I attempted to explain the situation and hit a wall as he continually cut me off to tell me what he couldn't do. He didn't bother to look for the item or ask about the product defect. Further, he told me the item cannot be placed on hold for exchange tomorrow. At that point I advised him that he has lost the sale and I will return the product completely. Then he becomes argumentative and tells me he didn't cut me off. So I ask for the phone number to the corporate office and the mailing address to submit my complaint. I also asked him to have "Val" the general manager return my call. Clearly the staff have not been trained to deal with product defects. Nor do they know what it is to retain a customer. I LOVE ROSS! Its my favorite store... this Ross, is overall pretty clean. Workers make fun of me because I'm always shopping there and say I need to just become an employee. This Ross always has great dresses, which is the main thing I shop for. In my opinion it has more of a selection than the one in Dublin. Right now, I'm going through a phase where I just like to slide into a dress and heals and throw on some accessories. This Ross is perfect in helping me do just that! The selection for Toddler Girls is decent. I found my daughter's birthday dress here which was super fancy for only $7.99. Also, got a lot of her summer clothes here as well. It was the Tokidoki limited edition collab with Sol Republic earphones that are no longer available anywhere. Granted the earphones were released 3-years ago, the sound quality and cute factor are superb! So, now I know... if I want to buy good quality earphones that were released 3 years ago for a great price, go to Ross. Here's my tip. The best deals are 2-days after Christmas... well, at least it was for me because all their tech items were marked 50% off their already low low price. So, what was the final dent to my wallet? Original price = $130. Ross price = $49.99. Ross extra sale price = $24.99! BEST DEAL EVER! BEST FIND EVER! SOUNDS GOOD AND LOOKS CUTE! After finding this, I ran to all the local Ross stores to see if there were other cute headphones to pick-up. Yea, I went nutso for earphone deals... NOTES: Large Ross store. Seems tighty and bright. They always only have one or two checkers at most with long lines every time i am here But the main reason for writing this is Your "employee" MELLISSA is a VERY RUDE worker ! Terrible customer service skills i placed my items on the counter to pay a belt fell down , okay i pick it up place it back on top , then it seemed as if she pushed it off the counter it happened again in 5 seconds all while being very rude and catty then she stupidly says "my bad" thinking its funny and having a clear attitude while checking out my purchase and making convo with the security guard while she should be checking out my stuff faster there was at least 8 people behind me in line growing impatient MELLISSA YOU HAVE A HORRIBLE ATTITUDE LITTLE GIRL ! I have nothing bad to say about this store. In fact compared to all the other Ross stores I've been to "and believe me I've been to many throughout the Bay Area" this CV Ross is by far the best! I like this Ross, I think they have improved a lot but they could be better stocked in the kids section. I have a hard time finding clothes for my son. I've bought something from every department here, including our welcome mat and our son's toys. Ross is a huge migraine. Sure they have some good stuff if you really look but is it worth it?? Employees there are incompetent. Some can't even speak english and they mess with your cart when you are in the changing room! Not to mention they got robbed as I was shopping in there and had the audacity to act suspicious of ME after they let the robbers (literally) walk out. I was purchasing over $100 worth of items!! Insanity. No wonder those type of people work at a store like Ross. One of the workers named Martha is an old woman who can't speak a word of English and messed with the items in my cart. Besides that she is severely incompetent, rude and should be fired. Ross Castro valley is a dirty mess and people will keep making it a mess if the workers don't clean up their attitude. Absolute horrid customer service!! There are 14 people in line and only two checkers. One of the checkers was on the phone with her Manager who instructed her to come to the back so her time sheet could be corrected. The checker informed the Manager that the line was very long - so could she come back later - apparently NOT! The checker had to close her line and had to go back to talk to the manager about her time sheet instead of continuing to check people out. WTF!!! Really! So now the poor remaining checker has to apologize for the long wait to 14 frustrated people who are spending $$$ at your store! Very Bad.-- Glad I was next in line. read more

I love Ross' home section. They are my go to spot for my kitchen towels and kitchen utensils. Ross has really stepped it up over the years. They have a lot of affordable home decor items and great candles. This location can get pretty messy especially during a holiday but overall it's not bad. read more

The CV Ross has been my Ross store for years. Bayfair has a roll-down metal door like those I used to see on Canal Street in New York back in the day when the cops raided the knockoff sales and has minimal selection; Southland feels more like DD's Discounts. CV may be messy and/or usually crowded but it never lets me down. I don't usually meander through the store like I did in my pre-parent days, now I come on a specific mission with a time limit: bath mats, black shoes for my daughter's school uniform, dog bed. This week's task before a 5:45 appointment: black pants for work. Within half an hour,I had tried on and purchased three pairs: Anne Klein, Calvin Klein, and an unknown brand plus an Anne Klein top.
