One of the smaller Ross locations in North County. It's on the west end of the Las Posas shopping center near Broken Yolk, so if they're busy parking can be a challenge. Since it's small there's not a huge selection. This time I walked out with nothing, since they didn't have the things I had been looking for. I found some items at other stores, so I'm trying them in different locations hoping to track down more. This Ross somewhat survived the holidays shopping apocalypse, all of their stuffs were the same from last year hauling, no restock at all, found some random tools and Under Armor backpacks that worth my time, the rest of the toys are just peg warmers, stuffs that nobody wanted to buy, just sitting there forever, waiting to get marked down to $1. I know Ross doesn't like carts to leave the store - the item I wanted to purchase was too heavy for me to carry out. I had a $10.99 return from a different ross location WITH the receipt but without the ross tag (that's how it was purchased), the cashier didn't want to return it and told me very rudely to take it back to oceanside. I asked for a manager and she told me she was one of the managers. if she was a manager, she's not a very good one. I stopped by the vista location on the way home and the cashier there returned it immediately. when I told her I tried to take it back in san marcos and was denied customer service, the vista associate said "seriously?" I asked her if she thinks the san marcos cashier was just being lazy and she said yes. so thank you ross san marcos for your lack of customer service, do better. read more

If I could give zero stars I would. I've never been treated so nastily in my life. Went in to return a shirt I bought yesterday. It didn't fit. Couldn't try it on at Ross because despite every other store reopening their dressing rooms, Ross refuses to open theirs. The rude checkout person, Shay, tells me she won't accept the return because it's "covered in dog hair". I let her know I don't have a dog and that's ridiculous. She was speaking down to me as if I was a criminal trying to scam her with some illegal transaction. I was literally returning a sweater I bought 15 hours prior with the tags still on it, in its original bag and receipt! I asked for a manager. The manager came over and the sales person snapped immediately how she had told me they don't accept items back with dog fur. The manager said she agreed with her staff and I am unable to return the sweater as it's now somehow tainted by this imaginary dog hair of a dog I don't own (I'm allergic!). Worst customer service I've ever experienced. I know it's Ross and super low end/ quality, but I still expect some level of decency and respect when I shop. read more

The location is good- same center as Nordstrom Rack, Ulta, bed bath beyond, & sprouts. Parking is pretty easy too. The security is more in your face than the other stores & the dressing room policy makes you think it's a crime prone store which is a little uncomfortable. Dressing room is not nice. The security guard who walks with a limp is so rude. He was ringing me up at the cashier line and when I told him I didn't want to take one item which was a hair brush, he threw it across to the rack and it fell on the floor, coming out of the box, rolling on the ground. I said," it came out of the box, maybe you should pick it up". Under his breath, he says, "Callate". Which means,"shut up" how rude could someone be. Obviously, he didn't think I could understand what he was saying, nor did he care if I heard him since he had the nerve to say it right in front of me. He has a disability since he walks with a limp, but that doesn't give him any excuse to be rude with customers. He should get fired. I've never had someone provide worst customer service. read more

Very frustrated at the lack of customer service at the San Marcos, CA location. Purchased $400.18 of merchandise at the Encinitas location and a sensor was left on a shirt... it happens... but by the time I noticed it, I was much closer to the San Marcos location. The loss prevention associate greeted me at the door as I activated the door sensor, and looked at my receipt, and he asked for a manager. When the manager showed up, she shook her head to him, then told me and him that I had to go to Encinitas to get the sensor taken off. I was walking out of the store to grab something out of my car, And all of a sudden someone was about to drive off from their parking as they pull out they speed out of the driveway almost hitting me and my sister. This Ross has pretty good selection of everything and it's quite organized with friendly and efficient staff. Like other Ross stores, you have clothes for men, women and kids, shoes, home decor, kitchen and bathroom accessories, hair and body care products, etc. With Christmas approaching, they have lots of Christmas decor like Christmas-themed kitchen towels, placemats, pot holders, etc. By the registers, there are tons of candies, chocolates, tea and coffee with Ross prices too! I was surprised to see so many Ghirardelli chocolate truffles, squares and bars; they even have Lindt chocolate bars too! Admittedly, this Ross is cleaner than other Ross stores I've been to in the past. Since this Ross is right next to Sports Chalet, I decided to stop in to and check out their active wear. The selection was really sparse with next to nothing in my size. I was specifically looking for running shorts and a running top, but didn't find any. Disappointing... Horrible place! First of all security Spanish Mexican guy very rude and made me feel very uncomfortable while I shopped. He did nothing but follow me around and talked Spanish to the employees wherever I was. He never welcomed me as I came through the door and he was very rude to me after I purchased my merchandise, I was headed for the door and I accidentally was going to go through the entrance and he rudely gave me a glare and said wrong door. My new favorite Ross location. Clean, organized, fun inventory, practical options as well, friendly people and best of all is the location. It's located near Nordstrom Rack and Marshalls so you can park in one spot and check out all three. I had a $25 gift card and a "paper" credit voucher from 10+ years ago (I came across it when I was packing up to move). I asked the cashier associate if accepted and he said yes. I shopped, brought purchases to associate. He ran gift card and paper credit voucher but had issue trying to locate where to insert credit voucher into their printer so he contacted manager. While awaiting manager, he was able to figure it out and ran credit voucher through printer. Right after she arrived, she looked at the voucher and informed me that it was from 10+ years ago and so credit was expired and they do not accept those vouchers. I didn't want to argue as didn't want to hold up line. I checked Ross website and it clearly states that credit vouchers never expire. I'm very disappointed and I feel I've been cheated out of rightful credit. The cashier associate was great but clearly the manager needs to be brought up-to-date on store policy. Update: Contacted Ross yesterday (via email) and received response this morning from their headquarters. Per their instructions, I mailed the credit voucher to them and they will issue a new merchandise redemption card. Will send another update of progress. I'm submitting this update to inform Ross manager & staff of Ross process of redeeming "old" credit vouchers. read more

I came from overseas and was glad coming back from being stationed in Japan It was Sunday and my son and I was looking for something to wear for 4th of July. My family likes to shop at this place for household stuff and didn't have any issues with customer service until July 1 2023.My son already picked his clothes that he liked and I told him to push the cart but somehow him being silly he decided to hop in the cart without realizing I'm that his not suppose to hop and push it while his on it. One of the employee yelled at him so loud " common dude stop it! the other customers heard and my son was humiliated. I told my son to let me push the cart. My issue was the employee should have just talk to the kid parent. I didn't like the way he yell at my son so we just left the store and ending not buying what we have in the cart My son was sorry and when we got home he was still talking about it and cried and felt humiliated. I called and wanted to speak to the manager she answered and told me that they spoke to the guy who held at my son. I know this is not what they train for .Treat customer with respect and dignity. I was not ask for a name and just told that do the survey on a receipt and follow up. How I'm suppose to know that the employee was talked to and what actions they did to him ? I felt for my son , he is not a bad kid .I wish that employee talked to me and Addressed it correctly I am traumatized now going to that store. Ross employee should be trained to be not rude. This location is in the same shopping structure as Marshalls and, Nordstrom Rack so when I go shopping I usually hit up all three. More often then not, this is where I end up finding what I am looking for. I find this location to be one of those RARE ross gems where it is organized enough to find what your looking for. For example, I needed to get black jeans for my son. Other stores did not have what I was looking for or starting price was 40 on up. I really love Ross and this store in San Marcos has been on my go to list since it opened up. I can remember this time last year hitting this store up at least once a week and coming away with something I was excited about. Unfortunately the last few times I've gone here the store has been nuts. It's crazy disorganized and just simply dirty. I was just in this past Saturday looking for something for my work holiday party and was so irritated by how messy everything was from the bathroom to EVERY isle I went down that I just left. I know this store is hiring and I'd advise they do so soon because with the limited staff they have now you can tell they just can't keep up. The problem is, I also know it takes over a month to get a call back on a job at this place and that's not helping the customers OR the employees out. This location .... Clean and Well Organized. I personally love Ross as a Company and have always been able to find something to buy. They have great selection of Shirts for me and I seem to pick up at least 1-3 each time I pop in here. The shoe selection for me is sometimes much harder as the size 12 shoes is not as big of a selection as I would like. But I would much rather come in here 1 or 2 times looking for a pair of $35 dollar dress shoes that I will destroy at work in a month or so. This last time I ended up finding a pair of sweet work out shoes with buitl in memory foam. They were the last pair, super comfy and super affordable. They have a great selection of art work and home care items in the back that we will be back to pick up in 2 months once we move again. First of all, this is a Ross were talking about here... So expectations aren't going to be super high to start with. However, I frequent this location about every month or two just to check for a good deal on cloths or shoes. Most of the time the shoe selection isn't top notch, but I have found a few gems over the past year or so. A pair of Nike sneakers for $35, dress shoes for $25 and some kick @ss Nike cleats for $20!!!! So I your looking for some new kicks on the cheap give it a shot, it can't hurt. As far as clothing goes, I usually walk out empty handed. But I did get a couple nice golf polos there a while ago so I keep coming back.
