Ross Dress for Less have been popping up absolutely everywhere. The problem I usually have is there usually isn't a huge selection for large guys. I like 2X because I'm large plus I prefer my clothes to be loose fitting. Typically I don't normally buy anything as I have way too many clothes but I couldn't resist the cool Tokyo shirts that caught my eye. At most Ross stores I find a limited selection of things in my size. This Ross was very well stocked & I bought 3 cool Tokyo T Shirts that were 2X. Well stocked & super clean. We were checking out and Mario was our cashier. My daughter who is ONLY 3 years old was touching the phone at the register and Mario yelled at her and said, "CAN YOU NOT TOUCH THAT" and I about lost my marbles. First, we were waiting in line and the lady told us to wait, because she was going home... very bad customer service there and do not recommend going there. When I walk into a TJ Maxx or another similar store, I usually have expectations that I'll find something, especially in the home goods area. When I go to Ross, I don't really have any expectations. That's a good thing, because otherwise I'd be terribly disappointed. I've been to a few of the Ross locations in the 'burbs and haven't been blown away by any of them. Sure, I've picked up a couple skirts, a pair of boots, a rug, and other odds and ends, but not enough to keep me coming back. Ross is kind of my 'last-choice' destination among similar stores. This location is no expection. New, yes. Clean and spacious, yes. But different than the others in terms of merchandise? Not really. OK, there was this rainbow striped bath rug that I wanted, but husband stopped me before I got too crazy (I already picked up a rug earlier that day). So. Yeah. Opening Day is always crowded, busy, with long long lines and it's every bargain huntress for herself - when it comes to procuring a cart. There were regular carts, the short carts (my preference) and rolling baskets. The best I could do - rolling in at 2pm, was nonchalantly strolling by the fitting rooms and snagging an empty basket, quickly dumping in the 5 dresses and random other things I had been hanging on my forearm for the last 20 minutes. Phew, that was a close one. Anywho - this was a typical Ross, not the largest I have seen for sure, going by how tight and small the shoe section is, but its WAY closer than the one near Streamwood. Hurry in, there is a pretty good selection of stock - at least for now. Where else will you find a multi-color stacked Ck platform for $35? Or a MK faux chinchilla car coat for $70? Magenta pink suede platform pumps $30. Scored 2 black asymmetrical and a leopard print chiffon tunic dress and more, for $86 including tax. Not bad... definitely got 60%+ off retail and with 12 registers going full-steam, the lines don't last that long. Ross always has good prices, and if you need a dress, their selection leaves TJX/Marshalls in the dust. read more

I frequent the Ross stores fairly often. There are 4 different Ross stores, in different towns, that I visit. Since their stock is constantly changing, I've found doing that gives me the best opportunity to score some great deals. Yesterday, I stooped by the Ross in Schaumburg. I was blown away by the horrible condition of the store! The shelves were almost completely bare. The merchandise that was there, was just thrown haphazardly in random places throughout the store, and a great deal of it was broken. I was so disappointed. I'm not sure I'll be visiting this particular Ross again. read more

Why can't they just call it "Ross"? Adding the "Dress for Less" cheapens the already cheap image and, those people who are doomed to mispronounce things are bound to call it "Ross For Less" and make me cringe during every conversation we have with our friends about where we got our traveling dress...you know who you are. Yes, the traveling dress! My friend wanted to come here to shop for a dress for an upcoming wedding. This store is much more clean and organized than other locations, and the inventory is plentiful in all departments, especially the dresses! My friend tried on at least 10 dresses, all of which were right around $20. This is a good place to shop if you like fast fashion and trendy pieces that you know you won't be wearing in a year. We ended up liking the same dress and, because it's Ross (similar to TJ's and Marshalls), there's no guarantee that another one exists. It fit us both nicely - a black, stretchy satin above-the-knee dress with cap sleeves and a floor-length, flowy skirt with mauve flowers and a slit up the middle. It looked much more expensive than it was. Again, only $20. Ross is also a good place to browse if you're feeling spendy but in a "I really can't spend money right now" funk. The dressing room security here is nuts. It's such a strange system. You must hang your clothes on the rack while they count your items. Everything is so cheap, stealing from here makes about as much sense as people who steal credit cards and max them out at Wal-Mart. Go big or go home! read more

This place is a dump! This store isn't very old at all but it's dirty, disorganized & they clearly don't have enough staff to keep the place in 1/2 way decent condition. Saw an employee just piling shoes on an already overflowing shoe display with not a concern in the world. Go down the street to Marshalls just a block further. read more

This was my first visit to a Ross. It was better than I was expecting... but to be fair, I basically had the lowest expectations ever. I'd heard things like 'digging through clothes in piles on the floor' and when I walked in that wasn't at all what I saw. It was basically a more sparse mix of a nice Goodwill and a TJ Maxx. I don't quite understand the business model or how they keep semi-stocked, but I also know nothing about business so maybe I'm the one in the dark here, not their buyer who in most cases only has one of any size or style... or if more of the same thing exist, they'll most certainly all be in differently aisles. Aisles were set up really strange. The women's shoes, for example, were set up by sizes, which is normal, but on one side there's sizes 7-8 1/2 on 4 different racks, then there's a divider in the middle of the section for seating ,and then what you think will be more shoe aisles in other sizes, but again it's just sizes 7-8 1/2. Lucky for me, I'm in that range, but otherwise you'd be out of luck. The variety was strange and not really on trend with anything. Just an incredibly random array of shoes, very few matching in style. Another example was this aisle with candles and other household tchotchkes, but only had three small packs of votive candles spread throughout the entire aisle, thought none were next to each other. It was sort of like an interim miscellaneous organization section that no one ever got around to organizing. Pricing on items seemed fine, but I was still pretty skeptical that what you bought wouldn't break right away, if it weren't already broken in the box. Overall this store wasn't for me, but it was fine to kill time if you're waiting for someone getting fitted for a suit next door at the Men's Warehouse and are too lazy to walk over to REI in the rain. read more

I normally don't shop at Ross. I just never find nice items. Everything always seems used & old. But I lucked up on this visit. This was my 1st time in this Ross. The store was clean & easy to browse thru. I got 2 pair of UGG boots for a great price. I also got 2 cheap name brand belts. I got 2 pair of pants for under 20 bucks. Found 2 decorative pillows for my sofa. I did good & happy I stopped in here! The cashier was also friendly. I wouldn't rush back, but I'd definitely go back if I'm in the area. read more

Not only is this store EXTREMELY limited in selection but every time I shop there checking out takes nearly 30 minutes because they only have ONE cashier who takes FOREVER to ring the person or people in front of me up!! This was my first time going to a Ross store. My expectations were low. I was surprised first at some of the brands they had and had good luck finding some cute clothes at great prices. But they didn't have much to choose from..Anyways, I went ahead and tried some things on..this is where everything went down hill. I went to the fitting room to try on 6 different items. The last item I tried on was a pair of leggings. You know those security tags? Well, there was a tac from the back of a security tag that I think was still in the leggings and it fell onto the floor or it was there the whole time. I stepped full weight on the tac b/c I didn't see it. Needless to say this was very painful and was so gross having to take it out of my foot. I was bleeding everywhere and had to hop out of the fitting room to get the attention of girl in charge of the fitting room. She was shocked to say the least when seeing all the blood. Did she react quickly? Nope. I sat in the fitting room waiting on someone to come and help. It took about 5-10 minutes for someone to bring bandaids and alcohol wipes. THAT WAS ALL THEY DID! The fitting rooms were dirty and clothes in them, not picked up. They had no clue how to handle an incident like this and I had to ask if they were going to record this. My background does include being a liability claims adjuster and handling claims like this from Sears and Kmart stores. So I knew the proper protocol. They did not. They had nothing in place. I had to ask for an incident form, which they didn't have one. The manager on duty gave me the back some sheet of paper to write down my information, which apparently they have lost b/c I have yet to receive a call. I took their store managers name and number but I haven't called b/c I've been sick with strep since a couple days after this happened. Unrelated. The whole point of me writing is this; if you own a store, you're going to have incidents happen. You need to be prepared for how to handle them. No pictures were taken, the tac was thrown away, no incident form filled out, nothing out of customer service done in any way to make up for their mistake. I WILL NEVER GO TO THIS STORE AGAIN! They didn't offer to help me out to my car b/c I could barely walk on my right foot. Then they gave me the clothes that I did purchase, in a trash bag. When I went to purchase it the lady quickly dismissed the smile on my face And told me she hated the Cubs and She's mad they won and she's a sox Fan and sox fans are treated differently. Like really? Horrible horrible customer service,!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. I had some shoes I wanted to exchange. Those shoes were bought by my mom with a senior citizen discount of 10%. When the girl rung them up, she said I owed 2.83. In other words she did not honor the 10% even though I was making an even exchange. Long story short she called who I think was a shift supervisor and this women said "we are not even suppose to exchange for you, whoever purchased the shoes has to be present" That's bs I said. NEVER in my life had I heard that. I mean ppl buy presents for other ppl all the time. There was a long line behind me and I did not want to inconvenience other customers so I paid the $2.83 but I will NEVER go back to them! Monique walked over and immediately accused me of removing them from the package and was extremely rude. What a terrible way to treat someone buying products from your store. I was hoping that this location would be better than the TJ Maxx and Marshalls near by, since they have raised their priced and are usually picked over. Unfortunately this location is even MORE picked over. There is barely anything to even look at. I don't know if I came at a weird in between season time, or if it is always like this. Store was filthy today. Bathroom made me want to puke and didn't have any hand soap. My 5 year old had to go so we had to go in the nasty bathroom. I told a couple of workers that someone needs to clean the bathroom but they just laughed and did nothing. This location has been here for a bit though I just recently stopped in and surprisingly, found a few good items. While I am a fan of TJ Maxx & Marshalls, I was't too keen on the look of Ross for some reason. Actually, the prices are even better for certain items, bought a stack of velvet hangars for $10 where the same kind are $12 at TJ Maxx. Found a nicely designed, sturdy, insulated ice bucket with handle and handle compartment for $8, a great pencil skirt for $8 and the short list goes. Stores like this require a walk-through to see what grabs your attention in terms of price and quality. Yes, there are broken items and messy shelves but if you're a regular shopper at TJ Maxx or Marshall's, then you know that's par for the course. I've come to accept this as the charm of these odd stores, kind of like rummaging through an antiques store. From afar, it looks like one heap of cluttered chaos but if you take the time to look things over, chances are you'll find something you love at a great price. And it probably won't be there in that same condition the following week so grab it while you can! read more

Store is okay, but terrible customer service at check out. It was almost closing time and I was in line to check out. The cashier yelled out that she could help who's next while the people in front of me were still paying. That confused me and I hesitated to go up there, but she called me again to step up. She scanned my items as the customers in front of me were paying and as I was about to pay she called over the only other people who were behind me to come up. Sorry, but I dont want a crowd around me as I'm fumbling with my purse and wallet while the cashier is still packing up my items in the bag and while the other people are unloading theirs. I do not want to get rushed through check out with other people at my register when I'm trying to watch the prices being scanned, gathering my items and preparing my form of payment!!! I went back and it was the same story so I guess this is their standard check out procedure. read more
