I visited Ross to look for luggage but didn't find what I needed. I did purchase a small item with help from an associate and proceeded to self-checkout. After completing self-checkout and approaching the exit, a security associate stopped me to verify my bag and receipt. He rescanned every item I had already scanned at the self-checkout kiosk. I asked a reasonable question: if items are being rescanned at the exit, what is the point of self-checkout? The security associate said he "just started," but then Ross came over and was dismissive of my question, saying I had an attitude problem. My concern is legitimate--if every customer's items are verified again at the exit, self-checkout doesn't serve its purpose. Instead of addressing this operational inefficiency, Ross focused on my tone rather than the substance of the question. I got frustrated by his response and decided to leave. I came to shop, not to be yelled at by a so-called "security officer." Ross needs better management and a process review of how self-checkout and exit verification function. read more

Visited 3/10/18 - And this is my 2nd time posting this review in 2 days. This location is great and conveniently close to other shopping centers/stores. My Family and I are preparing for our upcoming Spring Break Vacation and were shopping for vacation essentials. Unfortunately we did not find those essentials but were able to find a few household items. Everything is on trend and is moderately priced The store is always busy and having patience is key! If you don;t have patience you will be disappointed and possibly leave without the items you found and don't even think about returning to purchase later? Ha! They will be long gone. The Sales Associate we had was "Yokoya" I believe is what her name tag said. She is definitely in need of additional customer service training, she seemed to be annoyed and "over it". I would suggest she attends a job fair to find a more suitable position that fits her personality. My youngest Son was in a tight and needed to use the restroom. The facilities were disgusting. Considering he is only 6 years old her recognized how nasty the restroom is and he was willing to wait until our next stop. Today, on my search for pieces to update my wardrobe, I stopped by Ross. I began check omg out the dresses and found some cute items. Somehow I ended up in the Home section in which I had to retrieve a cart as I was picking up too much stuff. I ended up getting a few tops, pair of shoes, and home items. This is the reason for the two stars as I was able to find items! Now, the conditioner service or lack there of was not great. The line was okay however it took a minute for the cashier to call me over even though she had no customers. It went down hill from there. She says "Hi" and I greet her back saying " Hey How are you?" She responds " I'm okay." That was the end of our dialogue. She proceeds to ring me up and have conversations with the other employees for the duration of the transaction. I've worked in retail previously therefore I know how customer service works! I probably won't return to this specific location and shop at the nearby TJ Maxx and Marshalls. read more

This location does not have an extensive amount of ladies clothing especially with the newer styles. However it was clean and service was friendly. I probably would try another location for better quality but it is nice in that it's location is next to Marshalls and a TJ Maxx. read more

This store is usually my favorite go to for clothing, bags, shoes and such. On Saturday, November 18th the checkout line was all the way to the dressing room. I wanted to get one item but the line was very discouraging and they were fully staffed. I decided to leave my purchase for another day. Compared to the other locations this one during peak hours are the worst. But the plus is you will find what you are looking. The store is always clean though. read more

I would pretty much compare this store to a thrift store except Ross sells new items. I have been to other Ross stores that were in much better order than this location. You can find good deals if you are prepared to dig. I compare this to a thrift store because nothing is by size even though they have markers on the racks that should separate items by size. Come prepared to dig for your deals. I found a Laundry dress with a retail value of $195 for $39.99. I'd say that's a pretty good deal. I also found a sweater dress for $16.99 that is perfect for this cooler weather. One complaint I do have about the prices here is you have to watch the "compare at" price. I bought a pair of DKNY jeans with the manufacturers retail tag still attached with a price of $49 and the Ross tag said "Compare at $59." The jeans were still a decent deal since they were $24 but it made me wonder if they jack up the value on all their tags. Also, be prepared for kids. This location is a magnet for people with a bunch of kids that they do not care to supervise. They run around screaming and the most annoying part is they sometimes crawl under the stalls when you are trying things on in the dressing room. The overall atmosphere doesn't make for the best shopping experience but if you are on a budget, or just really appreciate a good deal, then check it out. read more

The store recently changed around...now you can really see the lack of merchandise. The worst thing is that MOST of the cashiers shouldn't be in the business of customer service. Generally, when I see this type of trend it's usually due to poor management which trickles down to the poor employees. This store should either find new management or close. read more

My niece and I were leaving the Ross store in Smyrna when the alarm on our purchases went off. The cashier came running out of the door after us to check our purchases. Then the security guard rushed over. The cashier started rifling through our packages (which she had just packed) and then the security guard grabbed another bag. The cashier had neglected to remove a tag. The security guard asked ME to hold the bag so he could repack it after the tag was removed. The manager neglected to give us one of our bags back which we had to retrieve. All of this was for a $15.00 pair of house slippers. Neither the manager, the store detective or the cashier apologized for the embarrassment. I know cashiers make mistakes but the way the store guard and the manager mangled us is unconscionable, particularly since we did not make the error. ROSS, do you have to be so rude to your senior citizen customers when your cashiers make a mistake? Does your security team and managerial staff have to be so unprofessional and hostile? You wont be seeing me again. I cannot risk having a heart attack because of your employees incompetence and your managers unprofessional loss prevention protocol which entails "attack the customer". And the manager did not even apologize. read more

My first time at this particular Ross was not pleasant. Long lines. Rude employees. Nasty fitting rooms. Unorganized store. How do you have NO working restrooms in the middle of the day?! I'm guessing this is why your dressing rooms smell like piss. Like I get it, Ross isn't Nordstrom. But show a little respect to your customers. And clean up the store. Yuck. read more

DEAR ROSS: I only tolerate you because of the great bargains and cool home decor items that you have available. However, you really need to raise the bar when it comes to managing your store. As I entered this store, it looked as if you had just given up and that is simply not an option. As long as you are open and functioning as a business, you have a responsibility to present your best. On this Father's Day weekend you totally disappointed because your store was in serious disarray. Regardless of the population you serve, you have to set the tone for your customers. If you present a store that is well organized and well staffed, your customers will certainly follow your lead and make an effort to maintain the status quo. However, if you don't care, how can you expect your customers to care?. It was easy to predict that this weekend would be hectic and that additional staff would be needed to maintain organization and serve the additional customers. You should have planned accordingly. I visited this location last night and it was a mess. Shoes and clothes were scattered everywhere. There was no way to find a size etc. Even the bedding was out of order King mixed with Twin etc. I saw at least four or five employees there and a "loss prevention" person. He spent a majority of his time chatting up the the employees and not paying a lick of attention to the customers. Not sure how he was preventing loss, but this was not my concern. My concern was when I got in line to check out. There was one register open and it was the "returns" register. There was another employee behind the counter but she was only re tagging and hanging clothing. Everyone, all 9 customers in line were in the lane designated for returns because it was the only lane open. The cashier asked loudly if we had returns and all of us said "no" so asked us to move to the other line. I asked "isn't there only one lane open?" she said "yes" So I asked why we needed to change lines and she said "because if somebody with a return comes, they can skip the line" HOW does that make sense. People, nine people, in fact are waiting to SPEND money at the establishment that had no open check out lines, but if somebody came to return and item, the return lane would assist them first? So, since I was next in line I stayed to buy my three items. When I got to the counter, she greeted me with a mumbled, "how are you" and when she was finished SLOWLY ringing me up, remember there are 8 other people waiting, she told me. "Grab your receipt, it's right there". Worst customer service ever. In this store, there were at least four other employees, one was an assist manger at the location nearest to Little Five Points, I know this b/c she was having a lengthy conversation with the "loss prevention" guy while I was shopping and you could hear them discussing it. She was restocking items while she talked but seems her assistance at one of the registered would have been more productive than restocking and chatting with the guy, perhaps she wasn't aware of the long line forming at the front of the store as she was in the back. Another was hanging clothes behind the counter with the only cashier, she was certainly aware of the line but did nothing to help. In fact, she stopped for a while to laugh and converse with the "loss prevention" guy too. Another came by and looked at the line but made no motion to open a register or assist in anyway to help the customers that were very obviously annoyed at the lack of open registers. Another stopped by to take a rack of items that needed to be restocked and briefly join the conversation at the back of the store with the visiting assistant manager and the "loss prevention" guy. I am a frequent Ross shopper and was thrilled to find on in a plaza with so many other store that I also enjoy shopping at, but I will not be going back. Marshall's and TJ Maxx are right there and had far better customer service!! read more

I am in here at least once a week to get my shopping fix. It is pretty difficult to find anything worthwhile, but when you do, it's extra exciting since you had to do all that scavenging. They are a step below Marshalls and TJ Maxx in quality, but also in price. read more

The selection blows clothing wise for children. The toy selection for boys stinks as well. The home decor department is decent but you will never find a set of anything and if you do its broken. The fitting room attendants have an attitude like no other or are very friendly, I guess it depends on who is working. The women's selection of clothing needs work and their plus size selection is awful! Some of my friends can never find anything. The cashiers are usually friendly every time I've ever been.
