A hidden gem in Sacramento! I wanted to learn to weld in order to seal up an Oklahoma Joe smoker, but didn't want to spend 5 months doing an intro class at one of the community colleges, and didn't feel quite ready to tackle it fully via YouTube. Gina's intro class was exactly what I was looking for - I went from zero welding experience to making a sculpture in a couple of hours, and I definitely plan to go back for the intermediate class at some point. Gina is a great teacher, and does a great job at making welding less intimidating. For context, I am a Software Engineer - so it wasn't like I was already a trades guy picking up welding. Even if you don't have a project in mind, the experience of welding something and getting to make a piece of art is so fun. I HIGHLY recommend taking a class here. I was looking to take a class of some kind but I'm not very good at painting, sculpting or some of the more 'traditional' classes out there. I ran across Gina Rossi and her welding class. She is the best! She is high energy and very patient. We had such an awesome time at Rossi design. I had a coach help me improve by welding beats. Gina worked with my granddaughter and the results was a skateboarder on af skate. I only gave Sofia a brief introduction to welding just two nights ago so she felt comfortable using a welder. It was so rewarding looking up from my welding table and see Gina working with Sofia on her design. Gina was so nurturing with my granddaughter. My little brother and I took a class here a month ago, a present from our Dad, and we had such an amazing time! Gina was so fun, enthusiastic about teaching, and patient with her students, ie me with no previous experience, having two left hands. I hadn't really wanted to go, to be honest, since it was my fathers passion, not mine, but after 10 minutes of Gina's instruction, wearing the helmet and holding the gun in my hands, I was totally into it and so glad for the opportunity. I checked out Rossi Sculptural Designs on Second Saturday and had a blast! There was a welding demonstration, lots of really cool art and some snacks and beverages. I loved the big metal octopus and the metal spider mounted onto the outside of the building. There is also a metal tree with pretty glass ornaments hanging like fruit. I'm going to return for the next Second Saturday event and get some information on the classes that are offered. read more

I took the intro to welding class with my middle-school-age son today, and we had a great time. Gina was very knowledgeable, friendly, and supportive. She did a wonderful job helping my son settle on a design when he was dithering around not wanting to take any creative risks. In the end he had a finished sculpture he can be proud of for years to come, and I was able to complete my own project as well. I was surprised we could pretty much immediately dive in and create whatever we wanted once we'd learned the basics.
