Went here on accident it was a beautiful one! Place was loud but clean, seems to be a locals spot it's small and so is is the parking lot I would go early... they serve Mexican and American breakfast and brunch... coffee was on point and we so was the soup!!! Had the huevos ranchero and French toast and it was amazing! Would strongly suggest the place

Yet another 5-star experience. We went for breakfast and arrived around 9am on a Sunday. There were a couple tables full but otherwise fairly empty. That didn't last long! Within 1/2-hour the place was PACKED with people waiting to be seated. Despite the full crowd, we got our food quickly and it was just as delicious as before. My husband got the chicken & waffles. I got the avocado toast. Both were filling and delicious! This is one of our favorite breakfast spots!

Okay food, was not worth the cost! The kids liked their pancakes which came with bacon, but they were very dense, bland, dry, and overall okay. I had the chorizo con huevos with home style potatoes and toast. I much prefer tortillas when ordering chorizo and eggs. The dryness of the toast doesn't complement the eggs. My husband had the pancake as well and he was not at all impressed. I would prefer to go to ihop or a smaller diner for an equally good breakfast with half the cost! $80 for breakfast?! That's insane. The service was nice, and the place is cleaner than the last time I came. This time it didn't smell of urine. The ambiance feels outdated and cluttered but to each their own. I know we won't be coming back.

My wife and I had breakfast on a Friday around 9:15 a.m. In our 26 years eating at places around Harpers Ferry, we have been to most of the ones that cater to the eggs and coffee crowd; thus, it was time to try someplace new. Web searching led to Rossy's Place. It is near one of our regular areas to shop anyway (Flowing Springs Road) but we didn't know that we had hit the food jackpot, to steal a phrase from casino advertising. The breakfast menu offered numerous choices for picky eaters. Chris loved the breakfast potatoes, we both enjoy Black Dog Coffee and we both had veggie omelets. The food arrived quickly and hot. People were chatting with the owner and across the booths to each other. As other Yelpers have mentioned, the atmosphere is warm and inviting. We both cannot wait to try some of the lunch menu. I even told Rossy about DubVEatz delivery service so maybe in the future we can get delivery on the mountain! All around good experience here. [Note: the building has been painted teal so a new outside photo added.]

Came after a day at Harpers Ferry; on a Sunday the parking lot for this establishment, which is just off of a road, was almost completely full. That was the first sign to us that this was a place for locals. We happened to come the last day before they closed for vacation, so they were out of some items. No problems there, totally understand. It took awhile for them to get our order, the table next to us complained, but considering this is the reality for many restaurants during this time, I wasn't fazed by the wait. It was also at capacity, so almost every table was full at 12 PM on a Sunday. My family enjoyed their cod sandwiches, while I liked my pan con chicharron. I made a point to order something Peruvian since I'd never had that kind of food before, and so the pan con chicharron comes on a toasted ciabatta roll with fried pork, a red onion relish (which was loaded with cilantro, so if you don't like cilantro ask for regular onions perhaps), and a sweet potato on the bun. It came with a side of home fries. I thought it was really good! The sweet potato added a nice touch, and there was almost too much on the sandwich (which I liked) for the size of the roll. The table next to us got regular breakfast, which smelled divine. If I'm ever back in the area, I'd get breakfast because it looked good.

"Voted Best Fried Chicken by a Yelp review." I have never read a more accurate statement. I was camping nearby and I enjoyed the food and service so much that I had to come back once more before I went home. The service was outstanding and the food tasted amazing. My first visit, I had breakfast: chicken and waffles, (I've never had it this way before) but they put sausage gravy on their chicken and waffles. It's a great combination, rich with flavor and the syrup too. I also had Huevos rancheros which was just as amazing. For dinner my significant other ha the beef stroganoff, I grew up on this dish along with Hungarian beef goulash and it's nice to see some people can make home cooked comfort meals. The chicken wings were also great, fried to perfection and with just enough spice. Lastly to finish it all off the most important piece to the puzzle here was the upside down pineapple cake. This was AMAZING. Rich in flavor it tasted great. Try it for yourself. It was comforting to find such an amazing place with great tasting food and perfect service. I'd recommend to all.

$123 for breakfast! Outrageous! While I understand that the price of food has increased exponentially, this is almost unbelievable! My husband, kids and father in law went this morning and had a mediocre experience in general. My husbands pancakes were so hard and stiff he stated they could be used as frisbees. Everything else was average. $4 cup of brewed coffee??? Come on.... They will not return. The service was only mediocre as well. This is DC prices in good ole' Charles Town WV. With these prices, you would expect the food to be phenomenal but sadly, it's not. Buyer beware.

The food is ok, it's way overpriced, service is horrible and slow. I stopped for lunch and spent an hour and half. Not a restaurant I'd go back to.

    Country Meatloaf

Small little restaurant with plenty of great food. I ordered the meatloaf, although a bit on the salty side it was cooked well. The veggies perfectly cooked and balanced the meal. The mashed potatoes are incredible, very tasty. The absolute best part of the meal was the tres leches dessert! A repeat visit is needed just for the dessert alone. Looking forward to trying out their other dishes as well. Good place. The staff is amazing and very attentive to your needs.

I live right up the road from this place, but I avoided going there for over a year after they opened. You see, over the years I have watched so many businesses go into this location and be, to be blunt, horribly disappointing. For instance, it was a bar last time, but while talking to one of the owners he told me that none of his family drank and they really didn't know anything about alcohol or running a bar. It showed, and it closed. After seeing so many businesses fail here, I figured that Rossy's was just going to be another disappointment. Holy crap was I wrong. The first signal to me that Rossy's was going to succeed was all the upgrades that they added to the outside of the building. They added a lot more parking, and just made the place look a lot more appealing. Of course, being a restaurant, decor and appearance matters a lot less to me than the food and the service. Both are outstanding at Rossy's. The restaurant was only running at half capacity when we went because of covid restrictions, so we were told there would be a bit of a wait. Based on reviews and pictures we had seen of the food, we were fine with waiting. The place was super busy with a lot of take out orders in addition to every table that they were allowed to fill being occupied. It took about 30 minutes to get a table, but was well worth the wait. Once we got to our table, we ordered a couple appetizers which came out pretty quickly. We got nachos topped with lomo saltado and buffalo shrimp. The lomo saltado was fantastic. The steak is super flavorful and tender. I would like to tell you that the shrimp were delicious, but my wife ate them all like a ravenous beast before I could get any. Judging by the fact that they disappeared in about 60 seconds, I'm guessing that they were pretty delicious. My wife got the fish and chips, which she loved. The fish was well cooked and flaky, with a nice crispy shell of batter around it. My personal recommendation is that when your server hands you the menu, just give it right back to them. While the menu has a lot of great items on it (like the fish and chips), the real story here is the SPECIALS!! I had been seeing pictures of the birria tacos on facebook for a couple of weeks before we ate here for the first time, so I knew that was what I wanted. I had never heard of birria tacos until I started seeing posts about Rossy's birria tacos online. For those unfamiliar with them like I was, birria tacos are made by braising beef in a flavorful broth. The meat is removed and shredded. The tortillas are dunked in the broth, then loaded with meat and cheese, and then onto the flat top to get the cheese melted. Along with the two tacos, you get a bowl of the broth that the meat was cooked in. First of all, look at the picture of those tacos. I don't want to exaggerate, but each taco weighed about 75 pounds. I think I dislocated my shoulder picking one up. The tacos are so juicy and flavorful, and the broth is simply amazing. I would buy it by the gallon. It really is a huge amount of incredibly delicious food for the price. If you are looking for a great meal with great service, Rossy's is definitely a top notch place to go.

    Heuvos rancheros
    Ward D.

Driven by here a 100 times. Now kicking myself for not stopping to eat before today. Went in at about 10:00 and had a delicious brunch. Huevos rancheros were excellent. Nice crispy tortillas with the perfect ratio of black beans, ( a nice twist on refried pintos), eggs and a nice fresh ranchera sauce. My son had Huevos con chorizo and he devoured them. I believe the family here is Peruvian and there are authentic Latin dishes as well as a good assortment of traditional American food. This is a hidden gem. Don't judge this book by it's cover. It's clean and appealing inside and the service was top notch.

Great music! Excellent whiskies and beers. Ambiance like a really nice barn :-)…read more We wanted a Memorial Day (2025) daytrip from greater-Baltimore. Harper's Ferry is very close! Like an hour (ish) drive. So what's happening in HP? The Barn out Washington St. had a MemorialDay weekend all-day mostly-country music event 2pm to 10:30pm! Very nice. They have a great little bar inside, and sometimes have food from one of the restaurants across the parking lot, or just walk over for takeout, or i think i read that they deliver here. By the way, parking can get a little tight for a bigger event like this one, but we were early enough, maybe 1pm, and we scored a space when someone left. I might as well add that there's several clean restrooms sort of across from the bar. We settled into a huge comfy couch near the back of the hall, behind the seating for roughly 30 at tables and picnic tables. There was also seating for roughly 20 at tables out on a deck. The first solo singer-guitarist, D.C.'s Kate Smiles, had a lovely voice and sweetly original interpretations of rock and pop and country songs that i knew, and a presence that made me say, Hey, Wow, I can relax in this mellow mood with a really nice whiskey from a list that my local bar would envy. By the way, they were out of the local whiskey, Devil's Due, so i had a warming fiery oaky slightly-sweet Elijah Craig bourbon, neat, with a water back. Mmmmm. The second musician, W.V.'s Andrew Copenhaver, moved among soulful blues and country, some classics, some modern. He could put an edge on his voice, and he could hit some deep bass notes, so it was a real pleasure when he gave us Folsom Prison Blues. When you can hit that low note, you have a right to do some Johnny Cash. By now i was into some crisp local beers. That little bar really has everything, including a versatile bartender who made every drink we knew, and we sampled his skills as the third musician, NoVA's Mark Cullinane, took the stage. He had a wide range of country songs, including a moving original that made us feel we were driving in our pickup behind his dad's. He had a great rich tone and great range. Like the second musician, he used some kind of looper to create full layers of harmony. What with all the beverages, we started to fade a little as the music moved into the set by NoVA's seriously-country Rowdy Ace Band around 8pm. They really lit up the hall and the patio and probably a good piece of nearby Harpers Ferry. We eventually moved on to our reservations for dinner across the parking lot at Snallygaster's restaurant. But that's another story. We had a terrific afternoon and evening. The Barn will definitely be one of our go-to spots in this town, and we'll be looking to hear these musicians again!

In my view, good service deserves to be recognized regardless of kitchen performance, and Lydia absolutely earned that. This was our second visit. My wife and I enjoy oysters and were excited to find a nearby spot offering fresh half shells--especially with their $1 oyster special on Tuesday nights. On our first visit, we tried the "double D" oysters, which were large, plump, and fresh--exactly what we were hoping for. They were the highlight of the meal. Unfortunately, the lobster rolls didn't live up to the same standard. At that price point, they should be more substantial, and the bread should be appropriate for the dish. Instead, the roll was dry and the lobster portion was underwhelming. I'd recommend skipping it. That said, Lydia's service that night was excellent. Last night, however, was a different experience. Upon arrival, we were greeted by someone who appeared to be the floor manager, who made seating two people without a reservation feel like an inconvenience--despite several open tables and a largely empty outdoor area. Not a great first impression. Once seated, we struck up a conversation with a nearby table and ordered an appetizer, a dozen mixed oysters, and entrees. I went with the flank steak sandwich featured on the menu, while my wife ordered the paella. The iced tea was good, and my wife's cocktail was well-made and generously poured--no complaints there. The salmon bite appetizer, while tasty, felt overpriced for what it was: essentially broiled salmon on lettuce with a maple glaze. When my sandwich arrived, it came with exactly three overcooked, limp asparagus spears--I should've gone for the tots. The sandwich itself was even more underwhelming: a small bun with maybe three ounces of meat, a few mushy onions, and some cheese. My first bite was mostly gristle and fat. I understand flank steak isn't a lean cut, but when served as a sandwich, it should be properly trimmed and sliced. There's no excuse for a $20 sandwich to be that poorly prepared. The overwhelming taste of black pepper didn't help either. I ended up sending it back after one bite. Lydia handled it as professionally as possible, but I declined a replacement. As for the paella, it raised a different issue--how do you end up with overcooked shrimp and undercooked scallops in the same hot dish? It doesn't make much sense. While the flavor was decent overall, the execution didn't justify the price. To summarize: Lydia is excellent--if you go, take care of her. The oysters remain a strong point: fresh, plump, and enjoyable, though they could be more generous with the horseradish and cocktail sauce. The biggest disappointment was the lack of accountability from management. There was no visit from the floor manager (Mr. Inconvenienced from earlier) or anyone from the kitchen to address the issues, leaving Lydia to handle everything herself. The wait staff deserves better. If you're going for oysters, it's worth a visit. If you're planning a full dinner, be prepared for high prices, small portions, and inconsistent execution. The service staff and menu have potential--but the kitchen needs to step up. One final note: if you're charging $36 for a pour of WhistlePig whiskey, it should be served properly--with a clean glass and appropriate ice. Serving it with debris floating in the glass is unacceptable. You lost that customer too. Lydia is the ONLY reason why this is rated above one star. Kitchen needs to step up. Big. You're going to start losing servers.

The table had an umbrella, so we were able to enjoy the outdoors without being in the sun. We ordered the Cobb Salad ($20) and Red Rice and Hemp Burger ($15) with a side salad instead of fries (additional $2 for the salad). The Cobb salad was very good. Large portion with big chunks of moist chicken. The salad was fresh and tasty. Italian dressing was good. The "Hemp" Burger was a new one on me, but essentially i understand it is a rice-based burger with Hemp seeds for protein. It comes in a large bun with caramelized onion and bbq sauce. I liked it. It has a mild flavor, the patty is pretty soft and the combination of flavors was very pleasant. The "side" salad was large and very fresh. I enjoyed the vinaigrette very much. Unfortunately, our server went AWOL after dropping off our food. We had a question and he wasn't around. My water glass was empty and no sight. My partner's water glass was empty for a while and - I kept looking around - but no sighting. I finally did something I hate to do, which is to call over another server, but we both were thirsty and needed something to drink. That server was very nice and promptly came over with a water pitcher for us. The bad service really wrecked what was otherwise a good meal in a nice atmosphere. So, here's the thing. I considered giving 3 stars for this review based on the service. (We actually thought the server had quit - it was ridiculous - the place wasn't crowded at all.). But, the other servers in the area were working really hard and one did come over quickly to help out, so I'm going to hope for the best. I do want to send a message in this review to the restaurant that this did leave a bad feeling. I doubt we'll be back. Too bad.

Food: there was a blend of Chinese-American, sushi and Thai. I typically do not go to restaurants that have that many Asian cuisines on their menu because it looks confusing to me. I normally choose more 'authentic' style restaurants. I want to state that so my review doesn't seem too harsh. 2 of my friends and I shared the crab rangoons, Peking duck and broccoli. Crab Rangoon was average but I did appreciate the sauce wasn't the typical sweet chili sauce. Our main had great crispy skin but the duck was dry. I was disappointed since it was $69 so I was expecting it to be a lot better. The broccoli had great taste but u was surprised that it was American broccoli and not Chinese broccoli. I understand it's Chinese American but maybe I should have read the description a little better. My friends did love it. Overall - the food was ok. The service was great.

This place is right on the property for an outdoor adventure park that does tubing in the winter and river tubing/ ropes courses/camp in the summer. Being in Harper's ferry and given the neighboring business this is a captive audience gold mine for a restaurant. Sadly, we came here on a Saturday and it was PAINFULLY obvious their service capabilities could not match the customer demand signal. We started at 4PM and they were about at 50% capacity (generously). You order your own food at the bar or via QR code. This is a standard practice so nothing wrong there, but it did take us about 10 minutes to then get our drinks. The food came out within 15 minutes. Food was descent if not a little on the expensive side. Beer was fairly priced. They don't have a super large menu and they were out of a handful of things. Like for one, being out of iced tea seemed like an easy fix from my perspective working in bar/restaurant management in the past. We went and enjoyed the Christmas lights and then went back in around 615PM for a nightcap. This is where things went off the rails. The inside was full the outter tables were 40-50% taken. Overall I would say 80% of a jam packed house. We ordered 2 Irish coffees and a beer. 25 minutes later I went in to check on our drinks and the patrons faces inside said it all. The couple at the bar had been waiting 30 minutes to pay their bill, one lady got up and left because people had come in after her, ordered the same thing, eaten, paid, and left before she got her food. They hadn't even started our drinks and when I went to the bathroom I could see the kitchen order display and half their tickets were lagging, badly. From what I could tell they had 3 people tending bar/running food plus other food runners. I don't know what the kitchen staffing was. This place should be KILLING it with how they are set up location/clientele wise but I can say for certain they will take a hit on return business tonight. This place has great potential and I hope for the owner's sake this was an off night. As a bartender/bar manager watching personnel work tempo, efficiency, etc... I was screaming inside.

But Normandy lodge with the bear head carpet. Overall the food..for bar food it was a disappointment. Not bad but just not good. The wings okay, the blue cheese weak, the fires pass the test but barely. You can drive about 5-10 minutes and get better options and see some of the historic sites in the area. That's what I recommend. Now I wouldn't say pass them by, just don't expect a top 10 meal from Alstadts, they will fill you up and that is all.
