Weekend get away has started with an awesome stop. Warm inside and really unique decor keeps a person busy looking and wanting to stay. We were seated right away by Andrea and served great draft beers. Our food orders were salad so that left us plenty of time to check out and buy a bottle of wine for dessert after exploring Harper's Ferry. Canned beers to go maybe following us out also since we can not always find Devils Backbone Vienna Lager at our local stops. No surprise Fredericksburg monster here but was a fantastic must stop for anyone seeking an adventure in taste and a unique vibe.

Totally surprised by this little gem on the road into Harper's Ferry. Went with a large group of friends, they were gracious and happy to accommodate our party. Service was prompt and attentive as our mixed and indecisive group poured over the wine and beer lists (great selections!) and explored food choices. The atmosphere was clean, crisp, and relaxed. Very inviting. And as the drinks came out, we were thrilled to discover they were creative and delicious. I went with the baker brie board for my main, and it didn't disappoint. It wasn't exotic like you might find in a more pretentious restaurant, rather just thoughtful ingredients, plated with inspiration, and a joy to eat. Parking might be a little challenging at the height of tourist season, so allow a little extra time. Otherwise, please visit Snallygasters and enjoy!

Such a cute local wine bar and cafe! The to-go selection is rather pricey and I would perhaps avoid for that reason (despite it being an adorable local collection), but everything else was lovely. Setting is cute, homey, old timey. It felt warm and welcoming. Good selection of wine, beer, cocktails, and coffee drinks, including a few non alcoholic mocktails. Service was friendly and quick and then otherwise left us to enjoy our wine in peace. I love this style of service. Overall highly recommend this adorable spot to linger a while with friends and a drink!

We phoned-in our reservation (a good idea!) at Snallygaster's Cafe, out W. Washington St. in historical hilly Harpers Ferry. There's some street parking, plus parking out back that fills up when musicians are playing back there at The Barn bar and music hall. Since we were at the day-long Memorial Day Saturday concerts there, we just walked across the lot to dinner here. This is a nicely decorated smallish restaurant with some outdoor seating, maybe 30 seats at tables inside, and a 6-seat bar. It was quite busy at 6pm this Saturday, yet the friendly efficient hostess managed to seat several couples who didn't have reservations. We had prompt and frequent attention from our server, and started with some local craft beers from their really extensive list (which I think you can also get to-go). We ran through refreshing ice-cold tart grapefruit Citrus Tsunami IPA and bright Day Crush sour ale, also some fun sasquatch-themed dry Wild Trail IPA and rich Mothman Black (dark) IPA. You could easily make several evenings out of exploring their beers. That dark IPA was a new flavor to me, like a lightly-bitter medium-stout, worth seeking out! The menu is creative, well-made, and generous. We loved our start with the complex fresh flavors of their garlic basil balsamic bruschetta. The savory Chipotle Shrimp Linguine had large juicy shrimp and veggies in a lightly-spicy Chipotle cream sauce with tangy cilantro. They readily accommodated our ask that the queso blanco topping be just a light sprinkle. This evening they offered a fun hearty take on an Appalachian classic dish, sausage greens & beans, made with a noticeably spicy whole Andouille sausage over small white tender cannellini beans and creamy polenta and a tender flavorful layer of collard greens. We barely saved enough room to enjoy their bright sweet warm cherry pie with a light crust. This was a lovely dinner in an eclectic setting, suitable for a casual or elegant-feeling dinner, and tempting for a drop-in to see if there's seats available at their little bar. This restaurant on it's own is worth the trip to Harpers Ferry.

We finally made it out to Snallygasters for dinner and wow... I'm kicking myself for not doing it sooner Started with two cocktails made with fresh juice -- so refreshing. They even made a mocktail for my wife that tasted just as good Talk about accommodating! The roasted garlic was spreadable, flavorful, and not overpowering. The Wagyu Salisbury steak hit a sweet spot -- perfectly cooked with rich, tasty gravy. The red pepper & pesto pasta brought me right back to Italy -- fresh, flavorful, and comforting. Great food, great service, and a cozy ambiance that makes you want to stay awhile. Already planning my next visit!

Fabulous. After a long day of cycling on the C&O canal we found our way to Snallygaster's - Service was excellent. Our server was enthusiastic and had good recommendations. The cocktail special was a winner. All our mains were excellent and the Apple Pie a la mode dessert was off the hook. We came back for breakfast. What more can I say.

Cute local cafe and wine shop in Harpers Ferry We stopped in for a late lunch Friday and the spot was packed! Eclectic interior with small tables and mismatched chairs (shabby chic?) Spacing was tight. Service was slow, not sure if it was due to the busy time or inexperienced servers. I ordered soup and salad, never got the soup. I might have asked about it but noone ever checked back in. Our salads were nice sized portions. Nothing exceptional flavor wise Wine shop is in back. Street parking What we ate: Lamb meatballs over spring greens Ceasar Salad My rating rationale + Service + 1 Food~Taste/flavor/quality +1 Presentation +1 Atmosphere/vibe +1 Value

This place surprised us in a good way! My wife and I had a great experience. We sat at the bar on a Thursday night and had dinner and drinks. The bartender was very friendly, and suggested two drink specials - a "Dear Jane" (Goodall) and an espresso martini. I had the Dear Jane which was absolutely delicious, and a fruity rum cocktail that I think was called "A Pirate's Life." For dinner, I had the shrimp, chorizo, and polenta, which was excellent. The tails were left on, an annoyance when in a dish and not an appetizer. My wife had the red pepper and pesto pasta with veg noodles substituted, and she loved it. The desserts we saw looked great, but we didn't have room. Would definitely eat here again!

Stopped in for a glass/bottle of wine. Service was great and the wine shop is a cool feature. This old building was built in the late 1800's early 1900's... creaky and cool.

Cool old town vibe. Interior is comfortably decorated. Staff is attentive. The bar tender was kind enough to come to our table to verify our Old Fashion cocktail due to the opportunity for the customer to customize the drink to their taste. Very impressive and one of the best Old Fashion I have ever consumed. Nice selection of meals. Unfortunately the dish we wanted was sold out. The appetizer, main meal & dessert all delicious and plentiful. I even found bottle of my favorite French wine in the cute wine store off the back of the restaurant. Very reasonably priced too!

What a cute restaurant that is tucked away! We walked in and were greeted immediately with such a warm ambiance. We had their specialty martini with coffee and the flavors were amazing. Their appetizer of baked Brie was very tasty. We had shrimp & grits and their specialty of ravioli with langostino in a pumpkin purée with sage. These were both simply mouth watering and extremely well prepared. Definitely a place to check out!!

He told me Maryland specialized in Cabernet Franc and Viognier and I knew nothing about Big Cork prior to arrival, but dad it was named as a top 10 tasting room by USA Today. Bold claim, especially coming from California. It was an absolutely beautiful day to visit Big Cory on Sunday. U called to confirm I didn't need a reservation, was told I didn't. That was nice, so I continued my drive to the winery, following three other vehicles that turned into the winery grounds. Ample parking, stunning grounds and views of the surrounding area. A big white building with a surround patio greeted me as I walked in, taking in the ambiance of the place. It was busy with patrons sitting outside, standing at mo sitting at the bar. I was greeted by an English chap, names Andy who said he works be right with me. Gave me a few minutes to look around and take in the experience. Andy greeted me and told me to grab any seat. Told him o was new to Maryland wine, as it was my first time at any winery outside of Paso Robles. I guts my expectations were high but I dialed them back as I ordered my tasting flight. Not a big white fan, I was impressed I'm with their Chardonnay, not buttery like the California. It was light, crisp and fruity. A very well done white. In fact I enjoyed it more than the Sauvignon Blanc, which if drinking a white I usually lean towards. Found this a bit too sweet. On to the reds, which is what I was reliably looking forward to. Andy took time to explain each wine, some characteristics and processes behind each glass. Their Meritage, a red blend was okay but was missing something for my liking. I did however enjoy the Cab Franc as single varietal. Never got to the Siberian Ice but was treated to the Syrah, Nebbiolo and Black Label Malbec. Those last two tasting were wonderful. My tastings done, I ordered a glass of the Rose Brut as I took care of Andy and my bill. I did walk out with a bottle of Chardonnay and Cab Franc. Overall a wonderful tasting with some good wines. Worth checking out but being from Paso I'm not going out of my way to find East Coast wines. I know what my palate enjoys but a little change now and then can be a good thing. If I get t girlfriend out, we will be back.

I was surprised to see this winery so close to the Maryland border and we headed over. It is such a relaxing atmosphere and a great spot if you're visiting with kids. The winery has large fields that they can run around and the staff was so warm. When we visited, they had extra desserts they were giving out since they had an event. It was such a nice touch and my kids went back (multiple times!) to help themselves to the pumpkin cake. They even gave us a bag of cookies to take with us. The menu was also a hit for the kids. They offer a cheese flatbread pizza, and for the adults, we enjoyed the goat cheese pizza drizzled with red wine vinaigrette. The spinach artichoke dip was also a hit. My partner and I also did wine flights. I decided to do the red flight while my partner did the classic flight. Of the wines, the un-oaked chardonnay was our favorite. For the reds, I liked the cabernet franc, which grows so well in Virginia and you can't go wrong. This place is great in the summer with it's large outdoor deck. But also seems like a fabulous spot in the winter with its large fireplace and comfortable couches. We'd love to come back!
