We visited this spot over the summer and they have some great flavors of icecream. It is an icecream stand that is right next to a dairy farm. Sitting and watching the baby cows chase around the mother cows playing in the field while you have gourmet super creamy unusual flavors of icecream while spending time with your family is a great thing. The Ice cream here is by far 5 stars REAL GOOD. I just remember the 2nd time I visited, it was around the end of the Summer season & getting cold out and there was a very long line at every kiosk. It seemed like every person in line was placing massive orders of the pint or quart sizes to take home (this stuff is so good people want to stock up on the ice cream so they can last through the seasons!), so my friend and I waited probably a good 20 minutes until we got to place our order. Unfortunately this also meant that they ran out of certain flavors by the time we reached the top of the line!! I wanted Pumpkin Oreo but got the Pumpkin instead. The flavor was very good, tasted a nice creamy pumpkin with just the right amount of pumpkin spice. Same generous serving size! I didn't see any of the half dozen free-roaming cows that graze in the large plain of grass adjacent to the parking lot (probably because of the cooler weather). read more

The service here is awful. Their process, or should I say lack of, when it comes to dealing with customers and food allergies is non- existent. The manger actually said to me "if I have to deal with every person with a nut allergy I wouldn't get anything done!" Mind you I was not referring to a nut allergy. So needless to say we don't go back. To bad we live in town but will travel to the "other" ice cream places. They are AWESOME when it comes to food allergies. read more

Stopped here on a Sunday evening and it was very busy but the line went very quickly. They encourage social distancing and mask wearing (while you wait in line and order). Gorgeous views of their farm and lots of parking. I ordered a small wild Maine blueberry and WOW! So rich and creamy. Also, the size of their small could have passed as a large at other ice cream shops. I couldn't finish it even though I tried so hard! I will certainly be back! We have to hit Rota at least once a season. Tucked out in the country, it's a beautiful place to sit outside, breathe fresh air & eat some ice cream! There are belted Galloway cows on the hillside, and goats behind the building that you can pet. Kids love that kind of stuff! The ice cream is good, a bit overpriced (we paid $12 for 3 small cups), but I'm okay with that. I'm willing to pay a bit more for the scenery! Things to note: 1) no restroom, enjoy the porta-potty; 2) put on your sunscreen, because the shaded tables are under a tent in the parking lot. Not the view I was talking about; 3) they don't take credit cards. See you next season, Rota-Spring! read more

I'll give it to them, they do have unique flavors of ice cream. That's what I look for when I try a new ice cream place. I tried Rota's last summer and got Ruby & Onyx which is vanilla ice cream, chocolate chips and maraschino cherries. It was okay, nothing spectacular. I thought I'd give Rota's another chance today. My family and myself came around 430pm and walked right up to the window. I ordered coffee caramel brownie. The coffee ice cream was bitter, lacking caramel and the brownie was almost non-existent. My other family members got the special of the month of May which was banana caramel crunch. They also were not impressed. I give Rota's kudos for being different in their flavors and having a plethora of ice cream choices, however I don't think I'll be back. They do get immaculate business on the hot summer days, which must mean many families do enjoy them, which I'm happy for. P.S. I would go there just for the animals. Outstanding Ice Cream. Worth the drive no matter where you are coming from. They give u plenty even in a small cone. The service was excellent and the young people there a very pleasant with manors, something you find less and less of. There is plenty of room to bring the whole family or bring some home too. This was some yummy ice cream!!!! I was a little boring & went with one of my favorites...chocolate chip! The vanilla ice cream was so smooth & tasty! Not too sweet & it was loaded with tons of chocolate chips, big ones too!! There were so many flavors to choose from & clearly written on a board above the counter. Looked like they also served food too. Great prices & 2 scoops was plenty, probably a little too much for me. Next time I will get just 1 scoop. Staff was friendly & the place was busy with long lines but more then one window was open & they moved quickly. 5 stars is a no brainer for this quintessential ice cream stand. Cows, presumably of whose milk is used for homemade ice cream, graze on grass(!), sometimes close enough to touch. Kids of all ages can enjoy goats relaxing and kids playing in their own area. You can also walk past the goats and up a large hill to the actual farm for a beautiful view of the area. Farm-grown items, baked goods, and treats are just inside. Easily the best scenery and setting for an ice cream stand around.
