So I always get the plate and I get the chicken Shawarma I get all the toppings. The little salads are good. The pickles are good. I'm not crazy about feta cheese but when it's all put together, I honestly think it taste amazing. I I switch up the sauces all the time it's so good. I love the side of pita bread. I have never had Mediterranean food so this is a good start for me, but I think for the price and everything they give it's pretty good. I come here often . I'm obsessed. I have tried the Gyro meat, but it's a little bit dry for me. Even the pita chips are good.

I really enjoyed the food and freshness of it. I got the vegan dream by recommendation and it was a good first dish. They could of went a little easier on the sauces but overall it was great and fulfilling. Their pita bread was the best i've ever had from a restaurant though and this ginger ale on the side was a perfect drink to wash it down. I'll be back to visit again and may try something else because there are a lot of options, as well as meat options for those who would rather that. I wish I could have tried the gyro fries because they looked really good. 4/5 from me, for now.

    Kefta and falafel bowl. Tasty!

Love getting their vegan dream. You can choose between hummus, red pepper hummus, or baba ghannoush. Usually me and my partner will get two plates, one with hummus and one with baba. The plate comes with pita but I usually order an extra pita since there's so much food. They fry the falafel to order and the vegetables are always fresh. IDOF's vegan dream was the first time I really noticed and enjoyed cous cous. It has a nice chewy texture and is slightly sweet. The vegan dream is a great option since it's healthy but also delicious and the generous portions will last about 1.5 meals.

Where to begin?? If the concept is like chipotle, they have a lot to learn. The portions does not warrant the price. I was disappointed. I was planning to order the all in platter. On the website the cost of the all in platter was $9.75. I felt that was a good value. But when I walked in, the price on the board is $11.50. I told her the website price reflected a different price. She said they increased the prices 3 weeks ago. But now looking at the yelp pics. They changed over 6 months ago to $11.50. So prices didn't just change they just haven't updated the website or grub hub. They are deceptive to customers and are misleading customers who choose places based on price. The falafel was delicious. I should have only ordered the side of falafel. I ordered the CYO Plate. You choose 2 bases, 1 protein, any toppings and sauce. Thought that was cool. Until I watched them making my plate. The bases I thought would at least cover the bottom of the container like a salad. It was 1 scoop of salad mix and 1 scoop of chickpea quinoa salad. Yes scoops of the bases. They did not cover the base of the container. Next I chose the falafel for my protein. I got 5 which I thought was a nice portion. Then my toppings I chose was cucumber and tomato salad, pita strips and crumbled feta. All were scoops. The sauce I chose was tahini. And it came with pita bread. When I mixed everything together it was good. But still disappointed that there wasn't enough salad mix. I don't feel that this place serves the concept that they created. The flavor and food tasted good but I don't think I'm willing to pay for the portion of food you get. The bowls at chipotle I can save half and eat it as another meal. Looking through the pics everything is not consistent with the prices. Telling me today that they just raised prices is a mistake. Not sure if I'll be coming back anytime soon.

$11.50 All platter and the pita chips and soda is separate but worth getting on the side.

I dream of falafel has come to Taylor street near UIC campus. How sweet is that? I got to check out " I dream of falafel," today for lunch. I am a big fan of Mediterranean for decades and I am very picky about my falafel so I was excited to check them out. When you first walk you are greeted by a friendly manager and the menu is easy to read and order. But of course I always like the best recommendation to try everything on the menu, so I got their " all in " plate" it's $11.50 and you get a sampling of gyro, chicken shawarma, kefta kebab and falafel with saffron rice. In addition to cucumber salad and tabouli. Everything was delicious. Their falafel met all the criteria I look in a good falafel, moist on the inside and crispy on the outside. I can taste that parsley, coriander, cumin flavor in their falafel really good. I also had other things there too hummus, pita bread, and their lentil soup. I say along with the plates get their falafel plate it is worth it with the hummus and fresh pita bread. If you come here splurge a little with folks and share different plates because it's nice to have a little bit of hummus with the rice and meat. I really love how the place is modern but the food is authentic and delicious. Service is fast and friendly. You can eat in or take it to go really up to you. You can bet that I will return and I am excited to bring my family here to check out I dream of Falafel! " cause I might be dreaming about falafel after having theirs soon.

There's been a deluge of mediterranean fast casual restaurants in Chicago lately, but IDOF is standing above the competition with its fresh ingredients, great service, competitive prices, and where it counts - taste! I love that IDOF popped up on Taylor Street so I don't have to jump on the train to get my mediterranean fix. The pita bread is dreamy soft, and there's only one other place that has pita this soft. (Hint, it's in Skokie.) There are some preset "chef inspired" items, if you don't feel like customizing a pita, plate, wrap, or something on a "bed" of hummus. All the meats at IDOF are seasoned and cooked to perfection. Chicken shawarma and gyro meat sliced from a spit couldn't look more delicious. Don't forget to try the lentil soup and falafel chips. The soup is slightly spicy, but it's cooked fresh in house. The chips are something I never really get anywhere, but these were good! Not hard as a rock and over seasoned. Interior is clean, and the staff are very nice. So glad that there's some diversity in cuisine opening up in the area. No more having to drive to the burbs for really good mediterranean food. Win!

IDOF is a fresh and new addition to Taylor St and Little Italy. With many competing casual dining for the likes of UIC students, IDOF brings forth some much needed Mediterranean fare for a relatively decent price. Think of it like a Mediterranean Chipotle, with pita bread on the side! You get four styles to prepare your meal from wraps to bowls. I went for the later which allows you to choose two bases, a protein, various toppings, and sauce choice. For my $10 plate, I ordered the Chicken Kebab with Red Pepper Humus and Baba Ganoush, and topped it off with plenty of fresh ingredients and Tzatziki sauce. Mmmm At first it didn't seem like it's be a filling meal, but once you mix all the ingredients together and take a bite out of their fluffy pita bread, you were all set. I enjoyed the flavor and savoriness of the chicken and the blend of veggies that made my meal feel just a bit healthier. Don't forget to top it off with fried pita chips too. Being brand new, the interior is well lit and clean. There's plenty of seating and large windows facing Taylor so you have some great opportunities to people watch while enjoying your meal. Definitely plan on coming back here at some point.

Very tasty and quick service. It's set upon a quick pick assembly line. There are a variety of meal options and sides to select from. There are many that are vegan friendly as well. There were a few items I wasn't familiar with and it was all delicious. Staff were friendly and helpful when picking out what to get. Glad to have this as a new quick place to grab some grub.

Stylish Fulton Market Brunch with Great Food and Service…read more Booked brunch for two on OpenTable at Aba in Fulton Market, and it's easy to see why this spot is so popular. The space is beautiful--open, bright, full of natural light, and stylish without feeling overdone. We ordered the Short Rib Shakshuka, which was flavorful with just a hint of spice and a generous portion size. The warm, soft pita served alongside was perfect for dipping. The Steak and Eggs was also excellent--the steak and eggs were cooked perfectly, and the fried potatoes were a standout: crispy on the outside while still moist and tender inside. Portion sizes were just right. We also tried both of the recommended brunch cocktails, and they were strong, flavorful, and well balanced. Service from Mike was great--friendly, efficient, and attentive throughout the meal. Overall, Aba delivered a polished and enjoyable brunch experience. Highly recommend, and based on what we tasted, I'd absolutely come back to try dinner.

The place is beautiful with a lively terrace on nice days but also a very open and bright interior with modern decor. We were seated right away at a table off to the side of the bar area. We must have waited like 15-20 minutes before anyone even realized that we were there. It seemed as though none of the servers running around serving other tables around us had our table to service. Eventually we caught the attention of who I can only imagine was a manager or supervisor who finally came over to take our orders. We ordered the Smokey garlic hummus which fresh pita bread and this was very good. We also ordered the crispy potatoes and the Brussel sprouts as a side. These were also nice and crispy and the brussel sprouts had a tasty kick with the harissa honey. For our main we had the chicken kebab which was perfectly cooked and tender, braised short rib (not as good), and the shawarma skirt steak frite. We quite enjoyed our meal and everything very fast which more than made up for the initial delay in service. For dessert we decided to share a frozen Greek yogurt with Olive Oil and sea salt. This had an interesting taste with a tanginess at the end. I'm not sure I would order this again but you could tell the Greek yogurt was of very good quality. All in all we enjoyed our meal at Aba and would definitely come back if in town.

The biggest issue was that our drink glasses had a terrible odor, as if they hadn't been washed properly. I ordered the short ribs, which cost $35 and the portion was extremely small. One of the pieces was also mostly fat, leaving very little actual meat. Made last minute reservations for brunch next day after the infamous architecture tour. It was quiet as we've put in an early morning. All the more better to savor all intricate dishes from start to finish. Like the name, The Purple Pig, their specialty is pork dishes so majority of our orders were this. Daily special of the bone marrow bacon jam toast - glazed, slippery off the bone, savory and sweet. Always love a good bone marrow dish to get the sweetness off it. This was so good that there were bits of the marrow and jam left stuck to the bone, I took a piece of the toast and scooped the bone dry. Nothing left for anyone to attack this. Non pork dishes were the Mushroom 3 ways and Spanish octopus. Mushroom dish was savory with all the coated sauces elevating this. Spanish octopus was kicked lightly and easily can bite in to enjoy the tender and charred portions. But the award went to my main course - the braised pork shoulder with saffron, apricots and Swiss chard. Aside from the rippable pork meat when dining on it, the sauces fused together on this dish elevated it and had everyone coming back for more. I needed an official Chicago culinary experience and found it at The Purple Pig without a doubt.

I mentioned this to the waiter and they remade it, which turned out great, so I'm hoping the salty dish was a one-off. 5/5 Our waiter was very friendly and attentive throughout. The restaurant itself is also casual upscale, so nice for most occasions. Avaspi exceeds expectations and I highly recommend this excellent Mediterranean restaurant.
