Overall: A solid Mediterranean addition to the loop's options for lunch or easy dinner. The good: If you've been to Roti before, you know the deal and whether it's your style or not. If you haven't been, it's a Chipotle-esque restaurant with Med flavors instead. I love coming here, the chicken kabob and roti are always fantastic, and the options for additions are plentiful. My bowl ended up being around $4, which is amazing for the amount of delicious food! I ordered a Salad Plate with grilled chicken as my protein, all of the side veggies, and roasted red pepper and s'hug as my sauces. The bowl is super filling and comes with a warm fluffy pita. The chicken was well-cooked and tender. I loved all of the side veggies, from the red cabbage to the onions and carrots. I have a foodie coworker. He's sooooo into this place. Decided to finally try it. The line was out the door at lunchtime so my expectations were pretty high. It's kinda a Mediterranean Chipotle, a step up from Naf Naf and definitely worth the wait in line. The line moves quickly by the way, it's not as bad as it looks. The interior doesn't have that fast food look to it with plastic booths so if you dine in you'll feel comfortable and less rushed to scarf down your meal. I always get the rice plate with Roti chicken and I get ALL THE DARN TOPPINGS!! Like hummus, couscous, roasted veggies, pickles...etc hold the cheese. Feta is a waster of dairy if you ask me. TIP: don't get the pita sandwich as your option, get the plate instead because they give you a free 99 pita anyways. Might as well get as much food as you can! The cookies are great too! The people are nice and the flavors are great!! Everything has a pop of flavor so don't expect bland. The option for riced cauliflower instead of saffron rice is great as I'm laying low on the carbs. On a Sunday afternoon, I was surprised by how many people came in. The place definitely wasn't packed but there were at least 5 tables filled the entire time that I was there and many more people that took it to go. This place is like a Mediterranean Chipotle. You put your bowl/burrito together depending on what you'd like. Some of my favorites include the hummus, tomato and cucumber, couscous, and the seasonal kale salad. As for the sauce, I've tried a handful of them before and all of them are tasty but the best would be the dill, yogurt, and cucumber!! If you order a bowl, at the register they'll ask you if you want pita. If you don't say yes, what are you doing?! As for drinks, I would recommend both the pomegranate black tea and the honey apple cranberry! The one thing I didn't like was at tables, the front two chair legs are put onto bottom center of the table, which I'm sure is for cleaning purposes, but it can also be a bother because it makes them less stable and people who pass by might knock them over...and I say this because while I was there a girl knocked down three getting in and out of her seat. read more

I love places where you chose your own adventure aka build your own bowl or if you are an indecisive person (like me) they also have the option of pre made options. I decided to build my own bowl and got the rice bowl with the roti chicken. I loved all the options they had for sides, sauces and dips plus the fact that they were not limiting at all for how much you could get. I've always seen Roti's around the city and finally got to try it the other day! I learned that Roti's makes everything fresh each and every morning including the hummus (which is delicious!). Not something you expect from a "fast food" based restaurant. It was my first visit and I decided to go salmon and steak for the protein. They both were so fresh, juicy and flavorful. The steak itself was so tender and perfect, it would have been great even just eating it by itself with no sides. I also got the rice, hummus, kale salad, chickpeas and green s'hug sauce! I mixed all together with my rice plate and it was delicious. Roti's is a yummy healthy alternative to fast food. It sort of reminds me of the Mediterranean version of Chipotle. I came here with my friends since we were in the area and needed a quick bite to eat. Roti has a chipotle like concept except Mediterraneanized. You have your choice of rice bowl, salad, sandwich, etc. I ordered a chicken rice bowl with hummus, tomato salad, and cous cous. Since the food is warm and just waiting to be scooped into a bowl it took literally less than 2 minutes for our food to come out. The rice bowl also comes with 2 pita breads which are great to stuff your food into. I also added the dill and cucumber yogurt sauce, and the spicy sauce on top of my chicken, freaking delicious. Total came to $8 which was a really great price since I had enough food for dinner. I wish they had this chain everywhere. I really want to try their falafel and sandwich next time I go. read more

Ok, so it was late and I was getting hungry. This place got OK reviews so I thought I would try it out. When I went I was 1 of 4 people in the place (not counting the workers). I don't look at that as a bad thing but as an opportunity to talk to the staff. I asked the young lady behind the counter to help me pick out something tasty and unique. She suggested a mix of the chickens and a bit of ALL the toppings. The only sauce I added was the cucumber based one. She was a hoot to interact with and it seemed she, as well as the other staff folks there, liked working there or at least with each other. The place was clean and empty so I got to sit where I wanted - by the window. I love people watching. I cut my wrap in two to get a good photo and the stuff just started falling out. The flavors were wonderful . Not to spicy. Not bland at all. I ended up needing a fork to get all the stuff that fell our. Didn't want to waste any of it! Yum! I have eaten here several times and always opt for the rice bowl with either Roti Chicken or Steak. Both have always been cooked and seasoned well. I have come during off hours (5 pm, before the dinner rush) and the meat I got was still hot, which isn't always the case with these fast casual places. After picking meat you have the option to add sauces and hummus. I got the hummus once and was not impressed. Something about it tasted off, but that could very well be personal preference. After saucing up, you get to pick your veggies (I absolutely love the tomatoes and cucumbers) and adding feta cheese. If you got a salad or a rice bowl, you also have the option of getting a side of pita to go with your meal. I recommend doing so as the pita has always been warm, soft, and delicious. Overall, a quality lunch option, conveniently located in the loop. Grabbed lunch here during my visit. I had the chicken roti salad. I loaded on the sides with hummus, tomato & cucumbers, fresh vegetables, and onions. I had my salad mixed in the bowl, which I should not have as it made my salad too wet. The flavor of the chicken roti was good. The meat was moist and not dry. The hummus also tasted good. Portion size was ok for lunch serving, as it would not weigh you down after eating. Service and setup is like Chipotle. Order your dish and protein at the first staton, to be moved to the vegetables and sauce section, followed by the cashier. This system worked, as the workers were able to move the line very quickly. I was very pleased with Roti. I've seen a number of them pop-up around the suburbs recently and have been curious about it. I frequent a few local middle eastern restaurants. Actually, one of the reasons I had not tried the one in Schaumburg before is that I prefer to to buy from locally owned businesses. Roti is the "Chipotle" of middle eastern foods. You go up to their counter, make your selections of meat, toppings, and if you want it as a wrap, a salad or a rice platter. Since we were next to Lavazza Expressions, I already had a cup of coffee, so I did not get anything to drink. The food was surprisingly good. And, there was a lot of it. I had the rice plate with chicken kabob, cous-cous and hummus. There was so much I could not come close to finishing it - I ended up sharing it with my family. I went to Roti because I went somewhere else similar and was disappointed in the service, the wait times, the quality, and the cleanliness of the location. My experience with Roti was the opposite. I ordered online and arrived a few minutes early to pick it up an it was ready and waiting. Inside the bag was silverware and plenty of napkins. The pita bread was fantastic. It was flavorful and perfect. The chicken was cooked nearly to perfection. I don't generally get hummus and decided today that I would. I didn't need 25% of my bowl covered in hummus. I understand if you love it, but that was A LOT of hummus. I made the mistake of getting too many sides so everything was lacking a little especially with the hummus consuming so much space. The vegetables also seemed a little too "wet" which was a bit disappointing. I was pleasantly surprised. I didn't love what I got but I did like it. The pita bread and chicken were truly the stars of the show. I won't go out of my way to eat here again, but I also won't completely avoid it in the near future. read more

On Sunday eve, before they close, I tried to grab some Mediterranean food. But found that their service was pathetic. I ordered Salmon kabob (paid $2 extra. This is only mentioned on the board near the Counter!) and pita ToGo. Suggested to serve pita separate so that it does become soggy, but both the server and the manager had hard time to get it. Finally, some how after few tries they understood... Next, I asked falafel on side and I was ready to pay more for the side. Here, the manager provided funny sounding math! 3 falafel for $3.15, and if I get one then ¢50. I asked how does that math work? I was willing to pay $1.50 for by ordering individual 3 falafel, but the Manager wanted to charge $3.15. I again tried to explain that even with Chicago's extorting and exorbitant Sales Tax on food, his math doesn't work!!! And, note this was just few minutes before they close, with absolutely empty restaurant, and lot of leftover food. I have had pleasant experiences with many of the eateries when typically the staff adds even complementary food item when they are about to close for the day. Not expecting any courtesy... The rice was a little dry and not warm, and falafels did not have the grainy chickpea texture typical of authentic falafel, but more like blended chickpea, and it was kind of bland. We catered for work from roti and that had me hooked. Everyone knows it's a Mediterranean rip off of chipotle. Basically swap guac for hummus. Not a bad thing, just an alternative. I like how you can order at the kiosk. I got the pita the first time I dined there. I really like it but it's like a taco. Like with a taco bell crunchy taco, either you bite all beef or all lettuce. Dont judge me for taco bell. You get a bite of veggies. Then you get a bite of meat and hummus which is so damn good by the way. Try the roll too. The concentrated bite is less of an issue.
