We love Dixie Paws & Claws! We rescued our pup Monty in 2023 and he HATES being groomed so we are…read moreso grateful that Cassidy is willing to work with him and they always do a great job! We still give Monty sedation meds because he gets so anxious and also working on getting him more comfy with tools at home. Dixie Paws is easily located in Downtown Woodland so you can explore while your doggies get a safe spa day! They also have lots of toys for doggies and it's always just a pleasant visit, even though Monty is a stress ball, we are sure he is very grateful to everyone there for taking such good care of him! He smells good and is always a handsome boy coming out! I also wanted to note that their rate is super reasonable compared to other places we called up initially. Thank you Cassidy and team! Please note that they are currently undergoing construction so you will have to access the building from the back entrance! As of 4/2/2026

If you're in Woodland and need a groomer you can actually trust, Dixie's Paws & Claws is the place…read more They've been grooming our dog Bentley Patel, and I can honestly say they do an amazing job every single time. Not just a quick clean up, but a proper, detailed grooming where you can tell they actually care about the dog and the outcome. What really stands out is how easy they are to work with. Our schedule isn't always the simplest, especially when we're coming into Woodland, but they've always been accommodating and flexible. That goes a long way and is something you don't find everywhere. Bentley always comes back looking great, clean, well groomed, and comfortable. They offer a lot more than just the basics too. Nail grinding, different grooming options, and attention to the little details that actually make a difference. I also love that they're right on Main Street. It just fits Woodland. Local, accessible, and part of the community. Whenever we're in town, this is our go to. No second guessing, no trying somewhere new. Thank you for taking such great care of Bentley and always doing a solid job.

Highly recommend YCAS for doggie adoptions. Their customer service is outstanding. They engage on Facebook & their friends of YCAS website is easy to navigate. I will admit I reached out to other shelters simultaneously for meet and greets, and I will tell you they were all soooo difficult. YCAS made it so easy for us! I filled out an inquiry form and someone got back to me same day. They were flexible with my schedule as my boyfriend couldn't get the time off work and we had to push out our meet & greet to Saturday (called on a Monday). The staff were very helpful there and introduced us to another dog in addition to the one we came to see. They know dog people when they see them, and trusted that our dog would be comfortable/safe meeting our new potential dog. All went well! The checkout/adoption process is easy. The staff at the front desk are knowledgeable and helpful. We couldn't believe the adoption fee was such a great deal, we definitely donated more. We are just about a month out of adopting and it has been such a smooth transition. Thank you YCAS!

You really have to wonder if the people running things here don't actually want dogs to get adopted…read morefor some reason. They are appointment only; bold choice, but I guess I get it if you only have the budget for one person to handle adoptions or something. They require you to bring any dogs you already have to the shelter with you; I can't imagine that the majority of dogs wouldn't be extremely stressed out being brought into a shelter which would make any interaction with another dog at best, less than accurate of how they will interact in a home. They are weird about footwear. I emailed the adoption person and explained that my dog gets extremely carsick but would I still be able to make an appointment to adopt a dog. She replied that it was STRONGLY recommended but exceptions could be made on a case by case basis and which dogs was I interested in? I sent the names of the dogs. She couldn't be bothered to get back to me. Ok then. Normally I would say that at the end of the day, management has the right to do whatever they want. However with this type of thing I think that no, you don't. What you have is an ethical obligation to act in the best interest of the animals in your care. Having extra hoops to jump through and prohibitive protocols is not doing that. We ended up adopting a very sweet dog from the Sac SPCA. And we weren't required to make our other dog violently ill to do so. Or wear special shoes. Just saying.

Legitimately loved this vet clinic. (You're gonna want to keep reading!!!)…read more I'm a first-time puppy owner and 3 days after I brought my pug puppy (2-month old) home, he started showing symptoms of Parvo, which obviously freaked me out. (And the Google search results that told me his survival rate with treatment would be around 60%-90% freaked me out even more) First, I took him a highly rated Yelp vet clinic that had an availability for him on the same day. Of course I know Parvo is very serious, but the technicians there made the whole situation very negative and made me even more nervous. They recommended me to either take my puppy to a 24/7 vet hospital which would have been crazy expensive (they would not give me a general price/quote for it either!) or conduct home treatment which they said will most likely not work. They didn't give me a third option. I'm pretty sure I didn't even get to speak to a doctor. I just felt frustrated and pessimistic about the whole already-stressful situation. However, I immediately called my friend whose friend worked at Yolo Vet Clinic, and she told me she recommended me to take my puppy there for a second opinion and for more transparency on Parvo treatment prices...and everything is now history! The Dr. Bulkeley and the technicians at Yolo Vet helped me and my pup so much. As soon as I got there, they kept me feeling optimistic and positive, and by ensuring me that I caught the symptoms early and calming me down. They gave me a clear picture of what their non-24/7 hospitalization process looked like, and gave me a realistic price estimate. Before, I thought Parvo puppies could only survive at a super pricey 24/7 vet hospital (being misled by the other clinic) due to the low-ish survival rate, but I had no idea how fast my puppy would get better and recover under the care of Yolo Vet! He came home after 3 days and the technicians gave me specific instructions on how to continue to support his recovery! But of course do keep in mind that each puppy is different and have different immune systems! To say I'm eternally grateful would be an understatement. I loved and appreciated their transparency, optimism, friendliness, and professionalism. Their app also helped so I could contact their technician if I had any questions. Overall, suuuuper positive experience!

They don't rush you out of your appointment, are able to give honest quotes quickly and are very accommodating. My cat, Winx, seemed to like everyone there as well! Can't ask for anything else, really. Sure the place could use a little paint or updating, but I'll take scuffed up paint and honesty over rude and judgmental any day.
