This is where the locals go! Sit by the boats with few crowds, chitchatting with the locals and knowing the town folks. Great experience

Dinner for 2! Two lobsters, pound of steamers, and corn!! $32!

We were here in 2013 and now back in 2019!! This is my favorite place in Maine to eat lobster!! This is a true lobster pound! Good chance what you eat at night came in from the ocean the same morning! The soft shell 1 lb and 1/4 lobsters are so sweet and delicious! Dinner for two last night was 32 (2 lobsters, pound of steamers, and corn)! No frills! Just lobster! I love this place! You enjoy your lobster right on the water by the boats! You won't be disappointed!!

$30-40 for the double lobster meal. Includes 2 lobsters, clams, chips, and an ear of corn. Still hungry & ordered 3 more lobsters by themselves. Pretty good meal for $75 total for all of that food. I never knew there was a hard & soft boil. Being from Maryland where crabs are the staple, I know how much goes into opening them. These were easy peasy to get into! Loved this place, highly recommended

Co-op is the white shack behind the sign. You actually go left despite the arrow pointing to the right. Might be a trap! jk

I'm still trying to wrap my head around how 2 lobsters, a basket of steamer clams and an ear of corn can be $24. I arrived here for lunch on a foggy afternoon and no one was eating here, literally no one. I'll admit, I was a little worried. I walked up to the little white shack and the two pretty, young ladies assured me they were open. I told them it was my first time in Maine and they immediately suggested I get the 2 lobster platter. At first I thought they were trying to scam an out of towner but after seeing the prices, and the size of the lobsters, I didn't argue. They asked if I wanted "hard" or "soft" but being from Chicago, I had never had soft shell lobsters before and didn't know which to pick. They suggested I get both to compare and contrast. They did mention that locals always go for the hard shell. The hard was a $2 upcharge but well worth it, as I later found out. I sat down at one of the many picnic tables by the water and 30 minutes later, a glorious platter of two lobsters(more than a lbs each), a ton of clams, ear of corn and a cup butter was put in front of my face. The girl who brought it out suggested I wait a minute because the lobsters were just out of the steamer and too hot to handle. That wasn't a problem because I needed a few minutes to wrap my brain around what was in front of my face. I'll admit, I felt a little self conscious at first. Eating that much food in one sitting seemed excessive. But once the girls told me visitors do it all the time, all the worrying went with the tide and starting crackin'! While the soft shell lobster was far easier to crack open, there was less meat in the claws and a little more water. The meat was also less sweet. The girls had mentioned this fact beforehand so I wasn't surprised. The hardshell is the way to go, even with the upcharge. The meat was far sweeter and there was more claw/knuckle meat. The clams were steamed a little too long but obviously fresh. And there were so much of them that I didn't finish. I can't justify taking off a star for that, it was a minor quibble. There were people going to the opposite side of the parking lot to eat but I can't imagine anything better or cheaper than this co-op. If you are ever out this way, this is highly highly highly recommended! It is a bit out of the way but after driving around the coast of Maine, I learned that the good stuff is worth the extra work.

On this visit we enjoyed the Anchor several times during our stay, for dinner, as well as a couple of happy hours. The front was very welcoming every time we went, when we reserved a table our server, Madison was friendly, knowledgeable, and even humored us by singing Happy Birthday to my wife in Spanish (with company lol). Other visits we ate at the bar and Andrea always kept our drinks and the conversation flowing - it was very enjoyable every time. Regardless of eating at a table or at the bar, the food was delicious every time. Over the course of four visits we had scallops, haddock, halibut and a pork chop - all prepared deliciously with nice presentation. My personal favorite was the grilled romaine salad which I three of four times - so good! We have eaten at the Anchor in the past and thought it was ok, but this season it really seemed together. Even when the restaurant was busy (happy hour) service was equal to the task and seemed to keep everyone happy and the quality of food and speed of service was excellent. I recommend you try this place (or try it again) if you are looking for something more upscale than a lobster on the dock and don't want to drive into town. Nice people and delicious food - thank you.

The service was warm and friendly, with the staff making a point to greet every customer. The lobster roll may not be quite as enormous as Red's, but it was absolutely delicious--cold, sweet, succulent lobster piled onto a perfectly toasted bun and served with a side of garlic butter. Instead of the usual coleslaw, you can opt for a refreshing seaweed salad, and the generous serving of fries is another nice touch. You have to watch carefully or map to the location, as the passing road is fast and you can drive by it without even realizing it. It's a small building with a decent sized parking lot - maybe can fit 10 or so cars. There is a picnic area to the side of the trailer, that has several picnic tables and a couple of little ones/lower to the ground. Very cute. Some tables with umbrellas for cover from the sun and in our case that day...brief relief from the rain, until it became sideways torrential rain. Plenty of garbage and recycling containers that are easy to locate and helps keep the place neat and free from debris flying around. It's not an extensive menu, however, the items we have ordered are fresh and flavorful. Item that stood out to us, the blueberry coleslaw. It's very very refreshing. They take electronic/card payments - it looks like it's a cash only type of place, but it's not. We had ordered our food for "here" and then the rain came. We sat at the tables as long as we could until the rain was coming down in sheets. We were soaked, so we ran to our cars...the staff saw what was happening, changed our order as "to go" and the gentleman ran the bagged orders to our cars with napkins and every thing we needed to enjoy our food. Great service! My fish basked was delicious. Love the fries that come with it as well. Plenty of fish, so much so, I had to give some to my husband to finish off. I love the finishing touches...may not seem like much to some, however, they take the time to put a tiny flower on each dinner. My niece and nephew loved it!! The bathrooms are in a separate building and are really nice. I thought they might be a potty, but they are fully plumbed, running water and electricity. I definitely will stop again, if it times right with our trips to the gardens and they are open. Great staff, easy location and great food.

I was already in a foul mood, walking in here set me into straight sensory overload. It's a bar where they sing. I am unable to get inebriated enough to enjoy bars where they sing any longer. Call me miserable, maybe I suppose. In addition to the merry old fella belting it out on the mic, we had the joy of having some drunk guy in a large group behind us try and out sing him without a microphone. He even challenged the old guy singing to a form of a duel. Anyway I was so off, I cannot remember anything about my server at all. Nothing. I do remember almost screaming and running out. I sat there trying not to lose it while my wife had the time of her life. Every song made it worse, everyone else is singing, I am dying. When the guy took a break, guess what, dickhead from the crowd goes up and takes over. Shots helped at this point and the weed is kicking in well at this point. Now I'm hungry... My food was inedible and I'm pretty sure incomplete as well. The worst flatbread in the history of flatbreads.
