The game floors were not over crowded and it wasn't too overwhelming inside. Lots of game options for any age or experience. The food was expensive for what it was. I have had worse, but the over priced for bowling alley items. Will give them points for having old fashioned nacho cheese from the machine and not the cups. The burgers were just ok. I was very excited to hear about an arcade store with a lot of games. However, Round1 left me a little disappointed. Round1 does feel like how I remember DnB and GameWorks, and others...used to be when I grew up. And while there are a lot of arcades here, I also felt a little ripped off leaving the store. The prices for the games are a little high. My wife and I got a card for $120 which was the highest amount we saw at the card machine. There are a lot of claw machines here but the chances of winning are very low. I am normally very good at these machines, but I lost a lot on them. Every single machine, the claw would release the toy while it is being transported to the drop zone. And I have a closet full of stuffed animals from claw machines. The arcade selections were very impressive. However, a lot of the arcade machines were not working either. If they were, there was a chance it would not pay you out either. Downstairs has a bowling area. I did not check this location out. However, the bathrooms were filthy despite being open for a few hours. After playing for ~2 hours, our shared card was empty. And we barely accumulated any tickets. Normally, at other arcade places, we would have plenty of tickets. I feel like the games are against you at this store. There was nothing we could find for the tickets we won. In the end, I am very iffy if I would return here. The games all felt a little scammy. We visited Round1 Bowling & Amusement and stopped by the food stall located beside the counter. When we went to buy a water bottle, the staff member named TONY told us they were out of bottled water. I then politely asked if he could give us a small plastic ice-cream cup so we could drink tap water, but he refused. Left with no choice, I had to purchase a cup for $4, and it was charged as a Coke,just to drink water. Mr. TONY, if you happen to see this review, there is a word called courtesy. Round1 Aurora is a beautiful arcade located in the Fox Valley Mall. The arcade is full of competitive and updated games that is designed for all ages. Upon walking in the first thing that threw me for a loop was the prices. You only get 70 points for $15 and 150 points for $25. Even though this is a family establishment, it seems a bit pricey. Most of the games require 9-12 points to play, so it doesn't seem worth it. The cashiers at the front provided great service and knew the product very well. Once cashier tried to upsell me and I was thankful that she did her job, even though I declined. We didn't try the food, as it simply didn't look appetizing. While playing with my children, a lot of the games were taking their points or not working at all. My family and I spent a total of $60 in the place and decided to leave. The level of frustration didn't seem worth it. This location is worth a visit if you are looking to waste some time, but not worth a trip on its own. read more

We started off by playing the claw games! Good times, until one of the machines didn't work so I had to call a worker over to help. He smelled like he pooped his pants, it was disgusting. We had to use the bathroom so we both went, and when we came out and looked at eachother our expressions were as if we saw a ghost! Men's bathroom had poop smeared across the wall, women's bathroom reeked to high heavens and had debris all over the floor. Customer service was terrible. Ive always been told you had to be 18 or older from 10pm. And then 21 or older after midnight but an employee told me yesterday we needed to be 25 or older to bowl at 10:30. This was obviously a lie. just a few minutes later we see the same employee let an 18 year old bowl. I even asked the customer how old he was just to not assume but he was indeed 18. We then go ask the employee why he let an 18 year old play but not us and he starts making up excuses. we're obviously not happy with the employees behavior. we made that known and after we left we were told that he was trying to look for us and fight us. he also called us names. I don't know the employees name but I will say he was a bigger guy with emo hair. do not go here!!! me and my boyfriend are both 20 years old and they told us we couldn't be here past 12pm when they close at 2am, after we paid $70 for the unlimited bowling at 10pm, which they said couldn't be refunded. We had issues with all 3 of the lanes they tried to put us on because the lanes weren't being maintained. When I asked the manager when the last time they checked the lanes was, he said today. Absolutely laughable place to enjoy the amenities. Employees look like they hate their job, service was horrendous at the bar as the shady bartender was not cordial or friendly, overpriced drinks too, it should not cost 10$ for a Jack N Coke! The arcade games are terrible, they are all corny gimmick fair games with a few exceptions of the fun ones. Not that many classic arcade games either, and the play card is expensive to purchase. Its mostly weird japanese gatcha garbage games and weeaboo trash that the general public doesnt care for, not everybody is into this crap but Round 1 shoves this down your throat, Wayyyy too many japanese arcade games, some arent even in english! When this place first opened up, it had a lot of cool original games and a four player mario kart set up. They got rid of two of those Mario machines, they only have two now, and the hilarious part is that the co-op doesnt even work ... lmao. While the actual shopping at Fox Valley Mall didn't wow me, they certainly have a lot of kids activities to keep them busy. This was the perfect destination for a rainy weekend day! We came to check out Mish Mash Adventures, but had time to kill beforehand. My daughter and her friend immediately found their way to Round1 Aurora, where there are arcade games and more arcade games. It's 2 floors of games and bowling and I found myself having some mom guilt for not bringing my arcade loving boys along. The girls had a lot of fun themselves and used their winning tickets to load up on candy in the prize store. They were able to kill about an hour of time here, although I'm pretty sure I'd have to drag my 7 year old out after 4 hours. Definitely one of the most fun attractions at this mall and wish our nearby mall had an arcade like this for the kids to kill time and burn off some energy! read more

We purchased 4 cards from the machine and only 3 came out. I went to the front to find someone to help us and the poor girl at the front called for a manager like 3 or 4 times before someone finally came. I explained what was wrong to 2 different people before he arrived and they couldn't help. Once a manager got there he called maintenance and like 4 of them showed up to do a one person job. We stood there for like 15-20 min in total before the card came out and were able to play. Not to mention how many credits the games cost. And once you get to prizes you have to have THOUSANDS or you can't get anything thats not a damn dollar tree toy or some small pieces of candy. My kids were so disappointed. To top it all off, the actual arcade game selection SUCKS. Most of the what was there were claw machines that do nothing but rob you. I'm pretty sure the games even robbed us a few times because the games claimed they weren't taking our swipes but our balance went down. Will probably never come here again. It was a waste of money. DO NOT BUY FOOD FROM HERE! I purchased tater tots because i was starving after a long day of work. I asked an employee how much came in the large tater tots and he incorrectly insinuated that the entire container would be full, assuming that would be too much for me i purchased the medium tater tots for almost $6. I received my taters after about 10 minutes (insane) and was met with what couldn't be more than 10 tater tots. i asked the employee if there was any way i could get more for my hard working money. but she rudely blew me off and said that the amount is normal, which it is not, also on the menu it shows a full container of taters. this cheap horrible place unfortunately does not do refunds so me and my stomach had to suffer the unsatisfactory appetizer. Not bad for a local arcade - The second floor is your basic arcade with a variety of games, definitely a vast selection. Kind of pricy for what it is but not awful. The first floor was more enjoyable - they have bowling and pool/billiards which is always fun with a group. We went on a random Saturday and enjoyed how busy and lively it was. Perfect activity for a rainy summer night! They had a lot of machine with the claw game - which IMO is rigged. I thought this place was pretty fun. They have both arcade games and games where you can win tickets (like skee ball). They offer both ala cart game play and unlimited games. The unlimited game card excludes the games where you can win tickets. Cards cost $1 and you get extra credit the bigger the amount you load. 1 hour of unlimited games cost $10 Fri-Sun and $8 Mon-Thu. The games are in good condition and are fun to play. I wish they had a real air hockey table, though. One of them doesn't have enough air to really move the puck along and the pac man one is a bit nuts with all the tiny pucks that come pouring out shortly starting the game. The "tickets" you win are digital and go right on your card. The prizes are pretty good, including candy and stuffed animals for the lower value ones. Hello, I visited your location in North Riverside, IL today as a recurring customer and today is the last day I will ever step through those doors. Jackie (she said that was her name) the manager was egregiously rude and unprofessional. My daughter played a game and got the bonus tickets (1030 to be exact); I filmed it because she was so proud. So when we went to cash her tickets in for ONE prize she wanted, I was told there was no sign that she had ever played the game on her card. I was asked if she used a different one (no) and so I showed the video. I was told repeatedly there was no way she played the game. So I asked Jackie to check the security cameras. She said nothing and walked off. I had to ask several other workers where she went and what was going on. I was told she was checking the cameras. This was all a LOT for 1000 tickets but my 9 year old wanted the item. So we waited as patiently as we could. She (Jackie) then came back in a very surly tone and asked us to take her to the game. My daughter led the way, because again we FILMED it and had nothing to hide. I was then told that the security cameras were BLOCKED by the crane games. An absolute joke. I was told my daughter could not have the toy or her tickets, when it was clear it was an error on their end. I have never been so irate in front of my child in my entire life. Now I have to find somewhere else for my daughter to play. I'm extremely disappointed in the staff at this location and the fact that my daughter's fun day was ruined by a RACIST manager who lied and told me my daughter and I must have FILMED SOMEONE ELSE winning the prize. It was at 4:24pm, I told them the exact time to check on the cameras and all. I have absolutely no reason to lie, especially for 1000 measly tickets. Ridiculous and utterly unacceptable. I wanted to love this place. But I do have to say, the games and selection of games i would give the 5 stars. But the place is either poorly managed or there is a lack of structure. It's two floors, top floor are the games. They have classics like pac-man and space invaders to more of the classics when I grew up which are Street Fighter 2, Marvel vs Capcom,Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles etc. They have newer games as well. One side is more of the amusement park side which is the basketball hoops, ski balls, etc. They have some games specifically for tickets and tokens. The rest are the games which is about half if not over half of the top floor. Bottom floor is some gaming, bowling, darts, bar & restaurant. The restaurant was horrid. I went for a simple drink since the temperature was a bit hotter than I'd like. First of all, they closed their restaurant early that day, even though their sign in their counter clearly stated a later time. Why not move it right lol. But minor problems, they just started piling up. Ultimately they told me I could order drinks so that's all I was looking for. They gave me a cup and could fill up at the pop machine. I get there and my first 3 options were out. So it was annoying but then there was no ice. So, I go up to the counter and tell them. They said they would be out to fill it up. 15 mins later, no one behind the counter knows anything. So, i simply now just ask for ice and even that becomes difficult to do and have to wait about another 15 mins. Not sure why but while I stood there, I saw what it looked like behind the counter. It was a complete mess, it just reminded me how happy I was not to be ordering anything else from there. You buy these cards which give you the access to play games but understanding what cards work with what and for how much is bonkers. It was so confusing but overall I'd say, expect to pay $30-50 per person for around a 2-3 hour timeframe. That would be my best guess based on our experience. read more

Husband and I have only been here once in August 2019 since we don't live nearby. We were in the area and I hadn't been to a Round1 since I moved to Illinois so I wanted to stop by and play a few arcades. If you don't know anything about Round1, it is a Japanese based arcade that have locations in the US. I love going here because I can get my fill of Japanese rhythm games and Japanese claw machine. I mostly spend most of my time playing CrossxBeat Rev, Groove Coaster and Sound Voltex. I was actually disappoint to see that they didn't have Taiko no Tatsujin. That or I didn't see it. I did walk around both floors but couldn't find the machine. There are also lots of fighting game cabinets, shooting games and more. There are also ticket games but I never cared for them but if you have kids that want to win prizes there's a good amount to choose from. My husband mostly played at the claw machines and he won a couple plushies. If you know the tricks of a Japanese claw machines, you can win them pretty fairly. When I was there, there were some machines that weren't on, and oddly enough it was the dance machines. Those are usually the most popular ones and to see them off was very strange. If you like Japanese arcade games, I highly recommend this place. I wish one was closer to home but if I'm ever in the area, I'd love to come back! read more

This is the must disgusting place to take your kids for a fun time. my wife and I took my three granddaughters here and we could not believe the way we were treated by management. We spent $100.00 on a game card and would have spent more if not for the way we were treated. After playing several games the tree girls ages 10, 7 and 5 wanted to play a spin the wheel game to tickets. The first got 30 tickets then the next got 75 tickets and then the last got 50 tickets. You could not believe how excited they were and then they wanted their Papa to try. Well after giving it a good spin I hit the 225. once the spin is done it gives you a total on the screen of the total tickets you earned. Well it did not show the 225 tickets so we all went to the counter and wanted to talk to someone about it. the first young man did not have any answer for us so he got some Goth young female snotty manager. After explainging what happen all we got was there is nothing she could do other than give us the 12 credits back for the game. She could see on her computer that we did four spins and all the tickets credited except the 225. My wife continued to try to understand why these girls could not get what they are entitled to when all they wanted was some candy in the over priced store they had there. if this is a kid friendly business they did not make it seem that way. Was really that hard to give the ticket credits after I already dropped $100 there. What is this world coming to. This is a top-tier Japanese style arcade- with some other stuff attached. The POOR REVIEWS ARE FOR THE BOWLING ALLEY / service. Go somewhere else to bowl. The game selection is awesome, there are a ton of Japanese games in addition to American staples. You will find, frankly, weird foreign games you've never seen before, some are even Japanese language only which really didn't turn out to be an issue while playing. They're organized into big sections: fighting, racing, shooting, rhythm (my fav!), skill games (air puck hockey, whack-a-mole, skee ball, basketball hoop shooting,) and child/toddler games. Most unusual sections: Claw Machines... soo many & soo kawaii. but then, the Photobooths. These are really weird it's like a curtained greenscreen room for 4-6 people with editing screens outside the booth for after the shoot. you get to choose different print sizes and stuff. It's fun to see separate groups of children, teens, and adults all having fun in the same place. This place is a GEM, an experience you can't find anywhere else around here. read more

Absolutely TERRIBLE experience. I am a nanny for an 11 year old child who decided to host an "End of Summer Party" for 10 of her friends aged 7-11. We were very excited to find out that there was an All Inclusive party for only $22 per person. We went in on Thursday (three days in advance to schedule as requested on the party flier) and scheduled the party for Monday. The contract was signed, and we were told that we did not need to put down the $100 deposit that was also requested on the flier. Come Monday, we collect the money from the party-goers and go up to the front desk. The worker gave us a weird look when we told her we were here to start the party we had scheduled and rudely asked us for our contract. It took fifteen minutes for everything to get into place since they obviously didn't have our party written down, and the party started late. We started with bowling, and for the next hour, everything was fine. They ate their unlimited pizza, wings, fries, and soda as advertised and we had no problem ordering a second round of wings and fries (no extra pizza though because it tasted terrible). They then moved on to the arcade games, and I reminded them to keep an eye on the time because the last chance to order food was at 12:45. At about 12:40, the kids came down and lined up at the counter to obtain their ice cream. Multiple kids asked for two scoops and received their order. By about the 6th or 7th order, the girls helping started whispering to one another. They asked the children who had gotten ice cream, which was only 6 or 7, as stated before. The girls then told them that that was all the ice cream they would be receiving. I'd like to remind the readers that the sign advertises "Unlimited pizza, fries, wings, drinks and ice cream" VERY clearly. We pointed this out to the workers and they told us that there was a 10-scoop limit, which was stated NO WHERE on the posters or the contract. If this rule HAD been true, they had handed multiple scoops to one child KNOWING that another child would not be receiving ice cream. The workers then told us that we would have to pay for the ice cream if the other three or four girls wanted any. Luckily another angry mom took over and we got what we had signed up for in the first place. After this, the workers AND their manager spent the rest of the time huddled up obviously talking about us and what had happened. This experience sucked - the workers fought with young girls over 99 cent ice cream. We will never be returning to this establishment. read more

Been going to Round 1 for years, and have always had a great time. My fiancé and I used come here for a fun night 2-4 times a month, but with how much more expensive the games have become (some games are double, even triple the amount of credits they used to be) we come here much less often. However, last night we went out for a date night and had the absolute pleasure of meeting Felicia! She immediately noticed one of my fiancé's keychains and started talking with us. As we looked over the games, she would give us tips and tricks to winning prizes, talked with us about our night, and made us feel welcomed! Meeting her was definitely a highlight of the night, and even though the rising prices of games are making our visits less frequent, we sincerely hope to see Felicia again the next time we visit! Side note: At the end of the night, there was a drunk man being belligerent, and not only Felicia, but all the staff that night handled a potentially harmful situation VERY well.
