Salmon croissant with fries and salad
    Yojna J.

We decided to check this place for lunch, and it turned out to be great! Love the banners and ambiance. We got a table inside close to the window which was lovely. Our hostess was so lovely and provided excellent service. We got the salmon croissant and fries for lunch and it was delicious. Great little pub in sooke. Highly recommend this spot!

    Friendly western restaurant and bar

A total random decision to try this establishment... was very pleased with everything about our lunch experience in this roadhouse style locale. To start, plenty of wait-staff (who were clearly happy to be working there) so no delays in being approached about drinks and meals. The drinks were generous, the french dip was one of the best I've had (very lean meat and a lot of it), the pesto chicken is a great choice as well. And finishing off with dessert a very nice portion of cheesecake (they make their cakes and desserts in-house). A really enjoyable meal!

This restaurant never disappoints and is absolutely worth the drive in from Victoria! Though it may look unassuming from the road, you are in for a treat! A local culinary treasure for sure, Route 14 takes their food and flavours next level! They are often quite full, but there is a reason for that, and you never have to wait too long! Tonight, we enjoyed the Blackened Swordfish as well as the Chicken Parmesan. Both were cooked perfectly and absolutely delicious! Huge servings, and plated beautifully. The flavours were rich and complimented each dish perfect. For dessert, we had the Blueberry White Chocolate Cheesecake and the Chocolate Bailey's Crème Bruleé to share. WOW. If you have a chance, stop and eat here. Great, friendly, and prompt service. Clean tables and restrooms. Outstanding food!!

We were left feeling very disappointed and underwhelmed with the service and food. We are very surprised at the high reviews and this was not accurate to our experience. My husband got the fish and chips while I had the chicken club sandwich with a side of clam chowder. The chips were overcooked and stale, while the club sandwich fell flat especially with the ciabatta bun, and the clam chowder needed more seasoning. We expected much more from this local joint, especially with the prices.

    French dip

Stopped here for dinner when vacationing in Sooke and really enjoyed it. I ordered French dip sandwich and poutine with bacon bits. Both were exceptional! Our waitress was friendly and attentive. I only wish they had a better selection of microbrews but very satisfied nonetheless.

    Honey glazed chicken burger

Came here last minute as they were closing their kitchen and were welcomed with open arms. Great vibes and super friendly service w/ a well rounded menu. Pleasantly surprised by the food - my honey glazed chicken burger was the perfect balance of sauce and meat. The chicken was incredibly juicy and the bun fresh and tender.

    White wine sangria

Fantastic meal on our way back to our hotel. I had the grilled chicken sandwich and seafood chowder with a glass of white sangria. My husband had the beef dip and chowder with a local beer on tap. The ambiance was warm and cozy. The food was tasty and to our liking. The service was excellent and helpful. And don't forget dessert! The brownie cheesecake was delish! If you're on your way through Sooke don't miss this gem of a restaurant!

    Poutine with Montreal smoked meat

Great place for Canadian/Western food in Sooke! We came here on a Saturday night and the wait wasn't too long for a time. There was seating right away outside but with the heaters not working and it being a bit chilly, we opted to wait for a table. It did take a bit for our food to arrive but when it did, it was delicious! I got the poutine with added Montreal smoked meat and did think the extra $7 for the smoked meat was a bit pricey. However, no complaints about the food and would recommend!

Ahi tuna, Island mussels, and fried calamari appetizers

Service was attentive, friendly, and helpful. Food: we had the Fried calamari, Ahi tuna (seared), and Island mussels appetizers along with a bowl of seafood chowder. All were 4 out of 5. Ambiance: Neat relaxed setting with lots of seating. Warm and comfortable.

Fish and chips were great; very crispy and the batter was light. Kids had original burger and was more than satisfied.

I made a reservation for two about a week in advance. I ordered the sourdough with sunflower spread from the first section of the menu, the weekly pizza from the third section, and the pappardelle, also from the third section. The sourdough arrived first, but within minutes, both the pasta and the pizza were brought to the table. We had not even finished our first piece of bread. The sourdough was a bit chewy, and the sunflower spread was underwhelming. I wished I had chosen the butter instead. The pappardelle, on the other hand, was fantastic and turned out to be our favourite dish of the night. The snap peas were crisp and added a pleasant texture, while the sauce was rich and buttery. The pizza, made on a sourdough base, was also quite good. It was light and airy, with well-balanced toppings such as potato, bacon, and snap peas. The bottom was slightly burnt, probably due to the flour used to prevent sticking, but it added a nice smoky flavour from the wood-fired oven. We finished with the pavlova for dessert. The berries tasted fresh, and the meringue had a lovely toasted texture. The service felt a bit rushed, and the courses were not staggered as expected. Although the staff mentioned the menu is structured to guide the order, this was not reflected in the pacing. Overall, it is a great spot for fine dining, despite the timing of the service

Beautiful presentation, and the blend of flavors in the dishes was both creative and bold. I had the seared tuna with fingerling potatoes and garlic tapenade- the tapenade worked perfectly with the charred veggies, and the pea shoots added a light earthy flavor. Add the gooey poached egg to the mix, and you have perfection! The merengue raspberry dessert I've renamed "Alice in Wonderland"; the crunch of the merengue, paired with the smooth mousse was lovely, and all of the varied aromatic, sweet and sour toppings made this an incredibly unique, and flavorful treat. The edible flowers and ferns, paired with the lush landscape, made my gourmet dining experience special. Worth noting as well is the full bar, with high end liquors and craft cocktails.
