a meal in a black container

This place was surprisingly good from my last experience. Not a 4 star ... but a full 3.5. Went to this place on July 14, 2021 for a friend's wedding. Today I ordered calamari to share snd seafood pene. The calamari was not heavy with batter and salty ... just how it should be. The seafood pene was flavorful. At first I thought I would only be able to finish half of the pene ... but I ended up reading the whole thing ... so must have been good! :) I spoke with the server and she said they changed the menu and recipes recently.

Great family restaurant with staff that are always friendly. The menu changes every once in a while and has always been tasty. Love coming here at night for dessert when its not that busy

This white spots awesome with Greek friendly staff. I've been coming here for years now for a weekly meeting and they never let me down. The food is always hot, and fresh, and the price is great. I just had a spaghetti meatballs and it was as good as what Mama used to make.

Great food and amazing friendly staff. The food is always the best comfort food. Don't forget the blue berry cheese cake omg so yummy.

This is one of my favorite restaurants in Langford. They offer reasonably priced daily drink specials, a variety of fresh food options including calorie wise, vegan and gluten-free options and have relatively short waiting times from the kitchen. The environment is warm and inviting and has music playing at a comfortable level which is very easy to talk over. options are fun and affordable for kids. The activity book is good enough to keep little ones entertained until the meal arrives. The average time from ordering to getting the food is 25 minutes which I'd say is very reasonable. The endless salad and endless fries made the meal feel even sweeter and the food itself was well cooked and very enjoyable. The only thing holding me backing from a 5-star rating is our server didn't check up on us for drink refills often enough. Other than that the service was great. The total bill for three kids, two adults and 4 alcoholic drinks was $96.30 before gratuity.

Booth seat cut my calf.

Good service and food was as expected. No issues with food or service. Would probably eat here more if lived in Canada.

The pieces are generous. One piece is plenty for the average person. The halibut is BC caught, which is great. Tasted fresh and delicious. I like the fresh tasting coleslaw. It isn't that gluggy sweet sugar & mayo combo you get at many places. It was just a simple cut up cabbage nicely seasoned. Maybe it had a little something else on it. Expect a line whenever you go because the word is out. The wait staff was friendly and working hard to keep the line moving. We found a chair up against a narrow wooden "bar" facing the water. It was quite warm so we appreciated the shade of an umbrella.

The line can get long, but it's worth the wait. My recommendation: get the BC Halibut. Perfectly cooked, flaky, and incredibly fresh, it showcases exactly why Pacific Northwest seafood has such a great reputation. Simple ingredients, expertly prepared, and packed with flavor. Grab your food, find a seat along the waterfront, and enjoy the views while watching the boats come and go. Great food, great location, and a true Victoria classic.

Just another excellent evening with the restaurant folks! This time, finding the place was easier…read more(it's off a back alley). Got there just when they opened and got a prime seating near (but not to near) one of the fireplaces (they have several italian brick style). The restaurant has many twists and turns creating many wonderful dining alcoves. Very inviting to sit and talk. So on a cold December evening we both had the Polo Appollonia; a wonderful mixture of garlic, bacon, and cheesey pasta. But the real star of the meal were the appetizers! Amazing tasting tomato soup, and the insalata caprese. The salad had a large portion of crisp tomatoes served with like a half pound of real homemade buffalo mozzarella, and lots of fresh basil. Almost a meal. The waiter was very helpful in selections of the food and some wine. We will definitely be back on our next visit to Vancouver Island.

I ordered the LINGUINE CAPESANTE without onions. It could not have been better. Allison was the most amazing server. Ask for her! My friend had the FRUTTI di MARE della CASA. Those were probably the table favorites. The manager even came by to ask us how things were going. On a Monday night the place was packed. I recommend making a reservation. The bread and the olive spread with the dinner were so good. We ordered the tiramisu and the crème brûlée to share. Amazing. I cannot say enough good things about this restaurant !! Love it!

Ambiance was great - super warm and welcoming which was magnified by the host. Super lovely. Then the wait staff. Whoever is hiring/training is doing a great job! We also sat right beside the pick up window so it was fun seeing food come out! The food was fantastic. See pictures for what we ordered. We are big fans of traditional fare, but the Block is a place we are so glad we experienced and will certainly return utilizing the knowledge we garnered during our first experience. A big thank you to for helping us through picking one price fixe January exploration of your local restaurants and filling it with other ala carte additions. As we often do we ordered far too much food, wanting to explore everything off a menu that is far reaching. Not sure if our additions worked with the price fixe menu, but we sure enjoyed checking everything out. The interior is interesting with the addition of structural steel in the space to keep this heritage building (I think) standing tall for a few generations. We sure hope it's still here for a long while and will most likely come again the next time we are in Victoria. That is saying a lot as there are a wide range of restaurants in the neighbourhood, but you do want to check the Block out!

Because I could sea a small layer of oil on the bisque, which I think is where the deep, rich seafood flavor (i.e. lobster flavor) was coming from. The seafood pasta had the same lobster flavors as well. Must try this place again.

My spouse had the chuck and brisket/bacon burger with fries. The chef would not prepare it medium but well done only. Complaints were a dry, possibly pre formed and frozen meat patty...the veggies were necessary for moisture. I had the buttermilk chicken "schnitzel" with fennel salad and potatoes. The fennel salad consisted of 2 1/2 thin shaves of fennel. The potatoes were good. The chicken was most likely 3 oz and pounded literally as thin as paper and deep fried within an inch of its life! The dish was small or meager size and I don't need a lot to feel satisfied but simply didn't with this dish of greasy, overcooked paper thin chicken. Ugh. Chocolate torte for dessert....although thin, it was rich and delicious. We shared the white bean mezze for a starter, the hummus was good and the pickled carrots very good. The ambiance of the restaurant is nice, dark with deep colors and chill. The feeling we had was this restaurant trying to be a 5-star, chic culinary adventure (small portions but amazing food); however they fell very short. Unfortunately this hotel offers no other kitchen or menu for guests and room service. You won't find a delicious and varied menu here...you are stuck with Fathom. Do yourselves a favor and enjoy a culinary adventure outside of the hotel - every restaurant we have dined in (every time we ferry over to BC) has been yummy, with the exception of Fathom.
