The sandwiches here are incredible, my go to is the Buffalo Bleu Sub, packed full of flavor and always cooked to perfection. They also have a really good tritip sandwich when they haven't sold out. Love stopping by anytime I'm in Taft for a quick bite to eat. They have a great outdoor patio area to enjoy the subs, with limitless amounts of peanuts. The staff is always in a great mood and ready to provide the best service. A surprisingly delicious sandwich shop posted on the corner of main street. We were looking for a place to grub while on a visit from out of town. This sandwich shop looked promising from the other yelp reviews so we decided to give it a try. My main go-to at a deli that I'm unfamiliar with is a classic roast beef with everything on Dutch crunch with American cheese. This sandwich did not disappoint! Although it feels like the roast beef could use a little bit more flavor, it was overall a great sandwich. They also give pickles on the side and there are pepperoncinis available outside for you to grab yourself. My buddy ordered the classic rueben and it was damn delicious! It was perfectly toasted with melty cheese and the corned beef (I think it was corned beef...or pastrami...) was delicious! I would definitely get this again. Beer is also on the menu and during happy hour it's like $2.50...what a deal! Overall very impressed and a great classic deli shop. read more

Decent sandwich shop in Taft. Stopped by a little after noon and found the place pretty empty. It's quaint and they have a decent outdoor patio to eat on. Guessing in the heat of summer it might be a little unbearable. While waiting for my sandwich I found a little bucket with salted peanuts on the table. That's a nice sight when your starving and gives your something to do while waiting. Oh and you can throw the shells on the ground. Today I chose the tri-tip sandwich for my lunch. The tri-tip was thinly sliced with a little pink showing in the middle. Something that I like is medium rare tri-tip versus the over cooked well done version. The meat had a great flavor and all served on a soft Pyrenees roll. Anyone from Bakersfield or the surrounding area knows the Pyrenees bread is top notch. The sandwich came with provolone cheese, red onions which I chose to leave off. You also get your choice of salsa or bbq sauce. I opted for the salsa and learned it was fresh and scratch made. It's was tasty and had a great flavor. I had a good experience and will definitely try out their other sandwiches on my next trip. I've lived in Taft 5 1/2 years and have always wanted to try this place. I finally did today and wish I had tried it sooner. I had the veg out on wheat and added pepperonconis. It was sooo good! I got the Italian Sub today for lunch. I was expecting more meat like what they shared on the menu but I feel like I just got pepperoni and ham. Overall is was a decent sandwich and it makes you very full fast! I love the sauces that they added to the sandwich (I feel like I'm a sauce queen). I think the next time I get it, I'll ask for no olives. Olives don't seem to go well with pepperoni but that's my opinion. I got a chocolate chip cookie but I was really wishing they had the toffee brittle ones (so many years ago they used to have that kind.) Come support this sandwich shop. I love this place! Its very cute and I love that they have little heaters outside. I went and ordered the tri-tip combo with potato soup and a Dr.Pepper. Fountain soda was great, soup was hearty and delicious, and the tri tip sandwich was the best in town! Wow. This is perhaps my favorite local sandwich shop in Kern County. I live about 30 minutes from Taft and would drive here everyday for lunch if I could. The sandwiches here are phenomenal and you can really tell that they use the freshest ingredients. My favorites are the Pastrami and the Italian sub sandwich. The Italian sub comes with capicola, ham, salami, provolone and veggies and is seriously heaven on a roll! One of the best Italian sandwiches I have EVER had. The Pastrami is a hot sandwich and has some of the best Pastrami I've tried in the area. So flavorful and meaty! I also need to add that the sandwiches here are moderately-priced and do not break the bank like some places. Even the cured-meat sandwiches like the Reuben or the Corned beef are not overpriced. Plus, you can get a side of potato salad a drink and everything comes to about $12, which is not bad at all. I will end my review by saying that if you love a good sandwich, you really need to come here. I just there was one where I lived because I would abandon another local premium sandwich shop for this one!!! Truly the best sandwich shop in Taft and possibly Kern County! I got a Pastrami Reuben sandwich combo, which included a drink and salad of your choice or chips; the sandwich was pretty tasty. The salad I got was the pasta salad, it was a bit too oily for me. The combo comes with a large drink but they had run out of large cups so I was given a small. Its really not a good thing to run out of supplies (especially so early in the morning, I'm sure they had time all of yesterday to get it) and have the customer given something less in return , but for me personally a small is all I need anyway(luckily). It's a small shop but they do have a patio area where you can sit and eat. They have a barrel of peanuts on the patio and a bowl of peanuts on every table, so you can snack on those while you wait for your order. The service was good, the young lady was nice. This place came recommended to me by a friend when I started commuting to Taft twice a week for school. I called in and ordered a salad. The lady on the line was courteous and took my order right away. When I went to pick.up, there was a line which wasnt too terrible, but unfortunately I'm on a crunch and the lady taking the orders was a but too involved in talking about keto with the customer. Believe I don't mind, but there are other people waiting to he served. Once I got the salad it was good. I think it would taste better tossed and I tried doing it myself, but I ended up getting bacon clumped into one spot and chicken in another. Just a preference thing for me. I love this place! Every time I'm passing thru that area I always stop here. Every Tuesday they have tri-tip sandwiches. Tri-tip sandwich Tuesdays!! Service was TERRIBLE. The man that works there was less than pleasant. He embarrassed my friends and I as soon as we entered the business. He yelled at us like we were children because we ordered on the phone and not on an app. Which by the way would have probably have never made a difference because the orders were the same. This was our fourth time here. We have tried something different each time and have been quite pleased each time. The meat is sliced thin and melts in your mouth. The staff is friendly and helpful. The owner Jeff is personable and is quick to make sure you are comfortable on the patio, asking if you would like the heater on if it's cold. Not sure what he will do this summer when it's 110 degrees though. Guess we'll have to wait and see because we will be making this place one ok our regular lunch spots! We loved this place. Just the kind of find Yelp helps us find! We needed a layover while waiting for our "real" California Drivers License. It's easily missed as the signage is understated. We were greeted by Jeff, who has one of those easygoing personalities that just makes ordering fun and easy. As soon as we decided to eat here I was thinking pastrami and my spouse chose turkey club. We had combo's and sampled the pasta salad and potato salad. The lady behind us let us know she loved the pasta salad, a good sign. Jeff treated us to a side of spicy Mac (thank you Jeff!) which could easily be the start of an addiction. That Mac was a nice deviation from what you might expect, a little spicy kick to it. Their bread is cooked by a local baker daily and I could so tell. From the first bite, that freshness was palpable. Jeff shared they don't own a freezer, so it's all fresh. The pickles were to die for too, bitter, just the way I like them. Wish I'd have asked where they get them... We left joyfully stuffed and made it back to the DMV on time. So wish Route 33 was in Pine Mountain Club too! Needless to say, if your going to Taft to use their DMV, save lunch for here, you'll be glad you did. read more
