Had an oil change at Midas. They said I had oil in my coolant. Took it to Subaru dealer, they said it was a head gasket and would be $5000+. I took it to Route 44 Tire on a recommendation. They said it would be under $2000. But when they did diagnostic it was something really simple. A $100 part and with labor the total bill was about $200. They could have done the head gasket and charged me $2000. But were honest and only replaced what was needed. And I will be sending a letter to Subaru's corporate office. read more

Wednesday Nov 14 I ask them to replace rear shocks mounts Mounts ware replaced but in the process they broke one Belstein B6 shock And then was trying to tell me that it was bracken before I came to them I understand that mistake happens so tell me and we can find solution I will Buy a new shock and you replace it but stop lying to my face I absolutely hate when people lying It was my last visit to this shop read more

Our tire was pierced by a sharp screw and I dismissed the "tapping" sound as a piece of gravel stuck in the tread. Meanwhile, I was losing PSI while driving around looking for a place to take my car. I stopped at three places. These guys were the only shop in town to take on my emergency repair, despite the fact it was a Saturday and they were closing soon. I waited while the work was done, the mechanic was friendly and the repair cost only 25 bucks. I didn't look up reviews, I just went. This was one of the best experiences I've had with a shop that I was unfamiliar with. read more

After going to Moe and Rt. 44 Tire & Auto for many years, it's about time I left a review. I'd leave a 10-star review if I could, but 5 is all I'm allowed. There are many reasons for my high praise. First, Moe, his son Mark and the other mechanics are top-notch - really experts in car mechanics. There is literally nothing they can't fix. And if it's really something impossibly difficult, they don't give up until they have a solution and a fix. Second, Moe runs a one-stop shop for virtually anything your car needs. Besides the normal work mechanics perform (brakes, struts, wheel bearings, batteries, etc.), they do welding. My exhaust had a leak, but instead of replacing the exhaust system, they welded where the leak was, saving me hundreds of dollars. My air bag light was on, and I know many mechanics won't touch that kind of problem. But Moe diagnosed a clock spring problem and fixed it. Moe not only sells tires like most shops, but he will fix any problem (leaks, re-seating) and rotate them for free for the life of the tire. He also performs four-wheel alignment, which many mechanics do not offer. And third, as busy as he is (he has eight bays, most full most of the time), he can almost always squeeze you in within a couple of days. As for his prices, Moe is definitely fair. I do not price shop because of all the reasons I listed above. He does a great business and deservedly so, probably because of his reputation and referrals. read more

I have been going to this shop for years. They always provide good service and fair pricing. Our car had the wheel come loose and break the wheel studs and ruin the wheel. Moe found me a used wheel and repaired the other damage quickly and economically. I would not go anywhere else for tires or suspension work. read more

Do not go here. We have used Route 44 Tire & Auto a number of times and we have gotten costly surprises each of the last three times. The first surprise: Route 44 Tire insisted that they were required by law to repair a broken tire pressure gauge. I pulled the current laws and regulations that clearly state that they are not required by law unless the gauge was broken while in their custody. They refused even after reading the very clear statutes and related regulations. My only choice at this point was to either pay them the $140 or hire a lawyer and rent a car (since they said they wouldn't release the car). The second surprise: After quoting us $900 or so dollars to fix the air conditioning (the compressor), ordering the part and having us bring the car in, they called us up and asked if we wanted to install the "Dryer" part that came with the new compressor. They said this would cost us another $200. Wouldn't any experienced mechanic know about this in advance? Surprise! It ended up costing us what the dealer quoted us. Bait and switch! The third surprise: The air conditioning system made a new additional noise right after they fixed it. Before my wife had a chance to bring the car in, 5 days after the initial repair, the power steering went totally out and when we checked the power steering fluid reservoir it was empty. When I called Route 44 to tell them about the air conditioning and the power steering, they said that they had done a power steering fluid flush and the owner refused to talk to me. This was news to us! After i had the car towed to their shop and Route 44 then said that they had never done work on the car. And then they changed their story saying that the power steering fluid flush was a year ago. The owner, Moe, said "I don't care" and walked out of the front office leaving me stranded. Clearly he wasn't going to even look at the air conditioning issue or the power steering issue. We trusted three times and we paid for it. Hopefully you can learn from this and avoid going through the same thing! Go someplace else! read more

Not a happy customer. I had a quote over the phone that was reasonable so I scheduled a visit to get my tires replaced. To my surprise when I got there the price went up. I told them about the quote over the phone and they played dumb. I really needed the tires before I went on a long distance trip so I decided to do it anyway. I opted for the nitrogen fill they offered not realizing that it was going to add a couple of hours to the install. That would have been nice to know. When all was said and done everything seemed fine. It wasn't until I started cruising around on with the windows open did I notice the rattling. Apparently they put a weight right where the hub cap is supposed to clip on and instead of fixing it they must have just tried pounding it on which split my hubcap at the edge and mangled the other retaining clips. Now it is broken beyond repair and instead of telling me about their mistake they just tried to pass it off. Terrible customer service. read more
