Cold Comfort was our 3rd company to provide an estimate and to come out to assess my unit, etc. The owner, Gabriel was the reason we made this company our choice. He was down to earth, honest and provided solid reasons why they choose the products they use. Our unit was over 25 years old, had served us well and I was unfamiliar with some of the other brands being offered now. We were a "Carrier" family. They were immediate in responding with a same day appointment for the service call and we were scheduled for installation withon the same week On the day of installation, his amazing team arrived right in time w/ cheer and professionalism. They explained what they were doing and how, lines my floors with cloths and covered their shoes to avoid a major mess, they were efficient and communicated with us throughout the removal and installation process. They cleaned up after themselves leaving us with very little to do other than dust. They showed us how everything worked, how to troubleshoot if need be and how to communicate if there were questions or issues. In total, Cold Comfort replaced the entire HVAC system, our humidifier, thermostat and then several days later, our water heater! Whew!!! We have been extremely pleased with everything so far and are grateful we found such a wonderful company to work with before winter! We highly recommend Cold Comfort HVAV services! Jary (who helped us when we first moved in) came out on Tuesday and said we had a leak somewhere since the closed-system unit was totally out of coolant. He came back Weds. to do the leak detection and found the leak, recommended a new coil. We had the new coil installed on Friday; this time it was Ricardo and team that did the work installing the coil. They did a great job and a couple hours later our house was back to normal temperature. Gabriel helped us with all the coordination and estimates and seeing if the part was still under warranty (it wasn't, but I didn't expect it would be honestly.) No one likes spending a bunch of money on repairs but I'm very confident that the recommendations Jary made were sound and correct. He did not attempt to upsell me at all, which is greatly appreciated. (The estimates Gabriel sent did include options for replacing the unit, but that wasn't necessary at this time and there was no pressure to do so.) I will continue to call them if we have issues in future with our HVAC system.

Let's talk about how my water heater started leaking during one of winter's last cold spells LOL!!!…read moreTo stop the leakage, I had to turn it off... which means I didn't have any hot water, yikes! Thankfully the mess didn't get out of control -- but waiting on the claims process from my warranty was a bit of a pain and back and forth, no doubt. After dealing with them, I learned I had to replace my unit... and thankfully, while it was free, I had to pay for installation, which was going to be quite hefty through them. Thankfully, my dad had just gotten some related work done, and asked the guy about it. And a few days later, Mohamed was able to come out to my house and take care of everything for a much better price than what was being suggested through my warranty! He also noticed two small leaks in the pipes around my water heater and fixed them without charging too much extra. It's been a few weeks now, and everything is still working wonderfully. He was very professional and polite, and I would recommend him for other jobs in his skillset. Can my hot water go down in the summer next time?

I have tried reaching out multiple ways, including email, Yelp message, phone call, voicemail, and text message, but have not received a response. I understand companies get busy, but when a recently installed HVAC system has an issue, I would expect some level of follow-up, especially if warranty service may be involved. Based on my experience, I am disappointed with the lack of communication after the installation. The initial work may have been completed, but the lack of response when a problem came up has made it difficult to recommend them.

Update: Aug 7 2025 -- Abdul had to come back and check the unit bc it was definitely working overtime and still doesn't feel cool. It might be the unit but he added what he could and cleaned up what he thinks could be the problem. I did look back on the bill he gave me the first visit and checked to see what I got charged. Everything seemed legit except that he charged me $120 for travel cost, which was a sticker shock to me. I would think most hvac folks gave to travel to homes in order to provide service, so I see that as cost of doing business, but that's just me. I would give the biz 3.5 stars but yelp doesn't have that option.

I had a broken AC and I didn't know what the…read moreproblem was and I didn't want to pay a couple hundred dollars for a new AC so I just called him up and he picked up fairly quickly and in 30 min he was at my door then in another 30 (might vary becuase of problem) he was out I paid a fair amount for a fair amount of work. Overall he is quick and efficient and is good for saving you a couple hundred bucks,( he works on AC'a big and small)
