Our AC went out a little over a week ago, of course it happened toward the end of the week so it was Friday afternoon by the time we realized it wasn't something routine maintenance on our side would fix. Jary (who helped us when we first moved in) came out on Tuesday and said we had a leak somewhere since the closed-system unit was totally out of coolant. He came back Weds. to do the leak detection and found the leak, recommended a new coil. We had the new coil installed on Friday; this time it was Ricardo and team that did the work installing the coil. They did a great job and a couple hours later our house was back to normal temperature. Gabriel helped us with all the coordination and estimates and seeing if the part was still under warranty (it wasn't, but I didn't expect it would be honestly.) No one likes spending a bunch of money on repairs but I'm very confident that the recommendations Jary made were sound and correct. He did not attempt to upsell me at all, which is greatly appreciated. (The estimates Gabriel sent did include options for replacing the unit, but that wasn't necessary at this time and there was no pressure to do so.) Learned about Cold Comfort HVAC while researching companies locally bc we needed to replace our entire HVAC system in the Fall. Cold Comfort was our 3rd company to provide an estimate and to come out to assess my unit, etc. The owner, Gabriel was the reason we made this company our choice. He was down to earth, honest and provided solid reasons why they choose the products they use. Our unit was over 25 years old, had served us well and I was unfamiliar with some of the other brands being offered now. We were a "Carrier" family. They were immediate in responding with a same day appointment for the service call and we were scheduled for installation withon the same week On the day of installation, his amazing team arrived right in time w/ cheer and professionalism. They explained what they were doing and how, lines my floors with cloths and covered their shoes to avoid a major mess, they were efficient and communicated with us throughout the removal and installation process. They cleaned up after themselves leaving us with very little to do other than dust. They showed us how everything worked, how to troubleshoot if need be and how to communicate if there were questions or issues. In total, Cold Comfort replaced the entire HVAC system, our humidifier, thermostat and then several days later, our water heater! Whew!!! We have been extremely pleased with everything so far and are grateful we found such a wonderful company to work with before winter! We highly recommend Cold Comfort HVAV services! Cold Comfort HVAC were fantastic and my new go to for any AC needs. I had them come to assess and issue we were having with a 12 year old AC unit that, to be honest was never installed correctly, and caused me nothing but grief. I was completely prepared to replace the whole unit. The tech (Jary) came out and dug right into the problems with the air handler in the attic. He clearly pointed out all of the issues he saw and was amazed it was functioning at all. we discussed the previous installation errors, and he had clear insights on why it was causing so many problems... Then next day, they had a quote for with a whole range of options and prices, and spent some time with me on the phone discussing the pros and cons of each. There was never any pressure - just information. They scheduled the install, and since it was going to be just over a week until they could fit us in, they graciously came over and loaned us some portable units to get us through the absolute heat wave we were experiencing (perfect timing). The install in our sweltering attic was incredibly professional, and going up and seeing it compared to what was there, I was blown away. Clean lines, everything tied up, everything contained within a metal emergency pan, all the lines insulated, wires managed... it was amazing. The new unit needed some adjustment to the airflow and the to adjust for the side mounting and they were there within an hour to make perfect. Gabriel and his whole team were absolutely top notch and went out of their way to make sure we were satisfied - even texting me on the next Saturday night to make sure all was well. Amazing responsiveness and service! My furnace conked out overnight during perhaps the worst cold spell I've experienced in MoCo. Called at 7:30 AM, got a call back within 5 minutes, and a tech out by 10:30 AM. Marvin showed me exactly what was wrong (dead induction motor) and was extremely helpful walking through the options; particularly whether to repair the 20+ year old furnace or to replace it. Installation was done within 2 days as expected with great quality as far as I can see. What happened was this: my residential 2017 Carrier HVAC equipment failed (the dreaded "Code 41 system motor fault") in the middle of a mean heatwave -- and I'm one of those people whose health can't tolerate extreme weather and the poor air quality that goes with it -- and very few repair technicians available on short notice. The solution: Cold Comfort, in a little over a day. Mind you, the fix wasn't straightforward, either. It required the 2-man team (real gents, they were, too) a total of 3 visits. The last of which was one they cheerfully volunteered to make at the end of their nonstop 12-hour workday. The final compliment I'll make is they dealt with the warranty claims directly, so my total cost was under $500. Definitely impressed. read more

He explained there was an electrical problem he discovered that needed to be fixed before he could install the new HVAC part. Explained the issue to me. Our A/C was running but no air coming out of the vents. I contacted a well known HVAC company and they said it would be 2 WEEKS for the earliest appointment, because it's been so hot. I was in a panic. I saw Cold Comfort HVAC on Yelp and all the 5 star ratings and called them. They had a technician come the following morning on a holiday! Jerry came on the 4th of July earlier than scheduled and found a simple solution that was causing our coils to freeze up with no air coming out of the vents even after shutting off the system for 7 hours. I was floored and so impressed he didn't try to upsell me or charge extra. These guys are absolutely amazing. Jerry educated us and gave us tips on what to check next time if the system doesn't work. Cold Comfort had come out to replace our thermostat 3 years ago and we were pleased with their service. Now the AC stopped working two days before we were on vacation. This company is listed on Fujitsu website as specializing in Airstage H-series repair. However, I was told they will NOT work on any system that they did not install. In all my years as a homeowner, I have never heard of such a practice. So in spite of their high ratings, do not bother contacting this company if you have an existing system installed by anyone else. Superb! Please support this small Veteran owned company. Hats off to Antonio and Gabriel. Hats off to Jary! Hats off to Ricardo! Last month my AC made a huge loud cranking noise and it died on us. It was scorching hot at 80-90. Gabriel was very nice to let us borrow their portable AC Toshiba unit which helped us cool the house down. To have your house feel like a sauna is an understatement. It felt like the sun was inside my house instead of outside. Jary is their special certified HVAC tech that came to investigate our old Goodman AC unit last year and warned us that our coil is getting bad and went into details that eventually, we would need to replace our AC either next year or 2. He also saw how poorly designed our AC unit was built with Goodman brand which is known to be a horrible AC brand. We called them because our AC unit kept turning off. Long story short, he was right. Gabriel even came out with Ricardo to see how our vents were built and said our AC is good for now but will eventually need to be replaced because it's more than 24 years old. Also, prior to them coming, the AC never ever went up to the top floor and it's been always hot when the temperature rises. Two rooms were so hot so Gabriel explained what needs to be done because the original build of the vent was a trunk but didn't spread to the top floor, so only the mid and basement floor would be cool instead. Fast forward in April, Ricardo and his team was professional and opened up a brand new Toshiba portable AC and our rooms were cool. They don't need to do this but they did. It just shows you THEY TRULY CARE! This team did an amazing job. My house is now cool and because of Jarry, Gabriel and Ricardo, they did a thorough investigation and actually broke down each problem and told me step by step. Before Ricardo left on the day of installation of my entire unit, he showed me how to use the control of both the thermostat because the top floor has its own thermostat so the AC can flow to the top floor. Also, they tested my heat on all floors before they went to make sure the heat works as well. Overall, after they finished my entire top floor, it was nice and cool and no longer hot. A+ Ricardo. So, their price is at the highest quality and I've compared to others and they're a no go but these guys know their stuff and it just shows. Overall, we are 100% satisfied. I bought an older home with some curious quirks when it came to the gas furnace and central air conditioners. Prior owners clearly had no problem spending money on equipment, but did not supervise or guide the installation. I encountered an oversized, loud, neglected basement furnace that tried desperately to heat a home that is a tad on the drafty side. The attic furnace, meanwhile worked too well and created a degree of toastiness that was a bit overkill. Further, the prior owners leaned a bit heavier on aesthetics rather than practicality with the placement of the A/C condensers. Imagine having refrigerant lines buried in the ground running the perimeter of the home...yeah. I was a bit incredulous of Cold Comforts high ratings on Yelp. One of the maxims of modern living is that there is no way this many people are content enough with an HVAC installation and O&M company. Just not possible. However, I included them in a group of three for estimates and a general problem solving session. First, they showed up on time. A huge plus. So often I have dealt with contractors that not only did a poor job, but didn't even bother to show up on time. Second, they had a thoughtful approach to solving my problems. I am not an HVAC expert of residential contractor, but I have just enough sense and experience to know what makes sense and what doesn't. Their ideas made sense and when I indicated I was looking for a practical solution they embraced it and ran with it. They communicated well, provided me with a nice set of options on quotes and were very responsive. In contrast, the other two providers seemed to come up short. They seemed intimidated by the project, provided superficial insights and wanted to present me a laundry list of options on equipment selections. I do not mind optionality, hell I love it, but confronting a project like this with categories like Platinum, Gold, Silver, Bronze Plus and Bronze without any context and noticeable difference other than cost was a big turnoff. Further, when given the quote for work, it was a no brainer. Cold Comfort was communicative, thoughtful and affordable for pretty much the same product tech as the competition. It took two days, but the guys showed up on time and cleaned up well. They took pride in their work, communicated well and it was a big win. I love dealing with a firm that wants my business and wants to work. They were great and while it is my hope I don't need them again anytime soon, I am also comforted by the idea they are going to be coming out for any servicing in case there are time ups needed. read more

My AC unit had not been serviced or even looked at since it was installed in 2006. It has been working well all this time, as I change filters every three months without exception. But lately it seemed to be struggling somewhat and I couldn't tell if it was the consistently brutal weather or it needed servicing. So as usual I got three estimates from local highly-rated companies on Yelp! Cold Comfort was the highest of the three estimates, but after reading a few pages of reviews and ratings of the competition, the estimates were close enough I decided to go with Cold Comfort because of the stellar reviews from Yelpers who were solid Yelp community members. I'm glad I did. Jary let me watch and ask questions as he spent a couple hours inspecting both the outdoor AC unit and the furnace. He explained that the condenser, which changes the warm air to cold and helps dehumidify, is actually housed with the furnace, not the outside unit. The estimate was $99 plus whatever repairs might be needed. In the end it was $99 and Jary showed me how my coils were very clean and said the religious changing of filters was the trick. He also said I should be going with a less expensive filter because the one I had was thick and stressed the system. He showed me how to choose the proper filter (something "8" marked on the filters) and mine was a 12. All in all, I feel like I got a bargain with all Jary did. He was also a nice guy to talk with.
