I found Rowdy Mermaid by chance, and I am so very glad that I did. Since meeting this lovely crew at the Denver Fermentation Festival (which I found out about through their website/Kickstarter) I have had the pleasure of visiting the establishment several times. As a supporter of their Kickstarter I was happy to attend their "Kickstarter Countdown Party". They had delicious food from Zeal and also featured a DJ and happy hour prices on their Kombucha. I must say that the staff are open and thankful for suggestions (I reached out to provide information regarding what I'd seen/encountered at a Kombucha establishment in Maine as well as information on a local woman who not only makes her own mermaid tails but also performs as a mermaid). I recently gathered several colleagues at the Rowdy Mermaid for a meeting and was just delighted to have a place to go where I could enjoy a delicious healthy beverage (i've become a bit bored with the coffee/beer scene). I contacted the staff ahead of time to let them know that we would be coming in and they were happy to help re-configure the furniture to accommodate us. We also had the pleasure of meeting the new brewmaster LeoDavid who was very friendly and approachable. I look forward to taking an upcoming home brew Kombucha class with him. What a random discovery!! We were at the Boulder Farmer's Market and ran into the kombucha booth mostly because it was next to a vendor where I wanted to order food. I thought they were good but I wasn't in the mood for it. About 5 hours later, I took a friend to a nano brewery since she's never been to one and on our way out she spotted this place noting it was the same one we tried at the farmer's market earlier. I really liked the ambiance! It was a modern feel and the music complemented that. There was a very positive, good vibe but really laid back. It is loungy and I can't think of a better atmosphere to enjoy kombucha. We got a flight of 4 types of kombucha and I found three of them really good. We had the deep forest, kom pow cherry, morning dew, and super grass. I felt like the size of the tasters were perfect not to mention the food truck outside gave reason to munch on something as well. To me, this was the perfect way to spend an hour or two just kicking back and trying some different types of kombucha! read more

Strawberry Tonic is by far the best kombucha out there...though I enjoy all their flavors from living ginger to rowdy bellyand savory peach and more. The sugar content and calories are low which lets the subtle flavors burst. I use their kombucha to make sangria...both the peach and strawberry pair quite well and all who I have made it for ask how I get it sparkling without bubbly. *kombucha I have been lobbying my little local Whole Foods to carry it in store..still waiting but am hopeful! BEST. KOMBUCHA. EVER. I seriously can't go a single day without having my daily dose of mermaid. They have the most unique flavors and I love how low sugar they all are. All of the ingredients in each one compliments each other so well. This kombucha has turned my kombucha hating friends and family into the biggest kombucha lovers. Although this place was not easy to find (we first went to the old address and then their "office" location before going to the correct location which is inside of a red building, not clearly labeled that rowdy mermaid is inside)...we were very happy with the kombucha and service we received once inside! The kombucha is delicious!! I highly recommend the "flower grown" flavor. Our barista/server was super nice and helpful. There's free stickers and their shirts are super soft!! Deff worth checking out once you figure out where they are located. Parking was not super easy, but they do have a lot in back and we got lucky that someone was leaving as we were coming in. I was never a fan of kombucha until we stumbled across this spot leaving J Wells brewery next door. We did a flight of kombucha and was so impressed we bought a growler to go. They also serve kombucha beer (not available for growler fills) that was fantastic. I will definitely stop by the next time we are in Boulder to get our growler refilled. read more

I've never been to any other "Kombucha Brewery," but...Rowdy Mermaid sure was fun. The space is lovely, with an open garage door and some simple patio furniture. We were the only ones there on a Saturday afternoon though. Chatted with the friendly bartender (is that what he is?) and sampled 4 different Kombuchas. The Kombucha has great balance, not as overwhelming as other's I've had. I loved the Peach and the Ginger. Rowdy Mermaid knows how to support the local community by bringing in artists, teachers, musicians and connecting to other restaurants/coffee shops/farmer's markets etc. The brewers and owners really know what they are doing. Very into researching their products and studying how to make the best Kombucha in the most genuine way. It's clear that they really don't know anything about fermenting. deciding to put it in a can is beyond stupid. Either they line the can with BPA/BPS and poison us, or they leave the can unlined and this drink which is naturally acidic dissolves the aluminum in the can and you are on your way to Alzheimer's. I want to support a Boulder startup, but this is pathetic for what's supposed to be a healthy drink. read more

I try to sample the local Kombucha wherever I travel and this was by far the best I have had!!! First off the idea of a Kombucha tap room is genius. While there I ordered a flight and was lucky enough to try every flavor they had that day. They were all amazing, the Point Reyes being my favorite. This establishment is fairly new and I encourage anyone in Boulder to stop by this place. I'd also like to mention that the staff is great. While we were there the guy at the counter was super friendly and gave us a bunch of tips on where to go in Boulder. Thanks to him we went on a hike, got some great pictures of the Flat Irons and had an amazing dinner at Jax. A sweet little bar on the outskirts of town serving up some seriously delicious Kombucha. It's not just one style on offer here, they've got several tasty concoctions that are outstanding. I feel in love with the Lavender, but the other 4 flavors were a close second. The atmosphere is friendly and the ambiance is relaxing. A sweet and social bartender serves up yummy beer-level alcoholic beverages, a handful of energy bars and great conversation. There is limited space here but there's ample room to enjoy an audible time with friends. This is the healthiest and most delightful hole in the wall around. read more

The kombucha was light and refreshing. Having tried 4 flavors they were all unique in their own way and none of them were too sweet, or flavor heavy. Often they have new flavors and you can try everything before you settle on what you're going to buy.The tasting room is quite unique and I wish it was open more often. We were more than a bit skeptical of kombucha as a product, but we decided one sunny Saturday to go check out Rowdy Mermaid. The owners have clearly put a lot of thought and effort into providing a cozy space for their customers, and one of the owners, Jamba, was there himself to serve us. Despite our skepticism, we ordered a flight to make sure we were getting the broadest possible opportunity to sample the wares. I was actually shocked at how good they were--lightly carbonated and refreshing, each with a distinctive flavor. The less sweet varieties appealed more to me, but they were all at least thoroughly drinkable, and the good ones were great. RM also claims to have the only "visible" kombucha production facilities, if you're interested in getting a five-minute tour. Between the quality of the drinks and the friendliness of the owner, I'd strongly recommend Rowdy Mermaid if you're in the Boulder area and looking to try something different. Enjoy! read more

My wife and I make Kombucha; also we just moved here from Oregon where kombucha is abundant. We had some time to spill so we headed to Rowdy Mermaid. I like the industrial style atmosphere. Everything about the experience was down to earth. We had a great conversation with the lady from France. Loved the kombucha as well. Very unique flavors from what we were accustomed to.
