I'm really stuck on what kind of rating I should give Roxanne Jewelry but since 0 stars is not an option, I'll stick with one star. Without going in to too much detail I will say that the owner (Jennifer) has no concept of customer service or common courtesy. I initially came to her store because I think she has one of the best selections in the jewelry district, but I was immediately turned off when I saw her belittle another customer because they were not able to afford a more expensive piece of jewelry. Unfortunately my boyfriend has also been on the receiving end of her condescending attitude towards potential customers and that is beyond unacceptable to me. Another issue that irked me was that she was not willing to work with us on the sale. She preferred to completely lose a sale since it was not going to be "her way". Seeing as how most of the jewelers in the jewelry district are really hurting for business and struggling, I simply can't justify giving the profits to her. I came to Roxanne Jewelry because Jennifer called out to me while I was strolling the Western Jewelry Mart. I needed some jewelry fixed, as well as some custom work done on some loose jewels I had. I was trying to find someone who could fix it that day, as I don't live close. "We can absolutely do that for you today, come here, let's see what you need done," she cajoled. She assured me that they could do this and that their work would be top notch. She wouldn't tell me any prices and only after spending about 45 minutes going into details of what I needed done did she tell me that the guy she uses to fix/create jewelry wouldn't be there for a few hours, and in order to get the best work done, I should just come in two days to pick up the jewelry. Super frustrating, because i'd already wasted a ton of time with her because she'd TOLD ME THEY COULD GET IT DONE THAT DAY. After finally quoting me for each piece (and refusing to clean a few extra rings at no charge - which all other jewelers in the district have always done for me), I leave the pieces with her and told her I'd have a friend pick up in two days (since i live far away.) I just got the pieces pack. The few items they managed to fix are mangled. Totally destroyed. I had an heirloom diamond ring that is now barely recognizable. Two chains that had broken are now "fixed" and have an obvious seam/sautering mark on them. Totally unprofessional work. And the kicker, about 60% of the work I left for them to do was left undone. Apparently, the guy didn't feel comfortable working on antique russian jewlery... but did Roxanne Jewelry call me to let me know this? Did they offer to find someone else who might be able to fix it? Did they even call to apologize that they couldn't do what they'd ASSURED me they could? Nothing. They returned the pieces to my friend, way overcharged me for the few fixes they did, and i never heard anything else. They have a very sleazy vibe. I picked up on it in the beginning, but should have trusted my instinct. I'd stay away if I were you. read more

This was my third stop in the diamond district and the places I went to were giving us high prices that I was not comfortable spending but were also trying to haggle and did not feel comfortable buying from but then I found Roxanne's Jewlery and met Frank and Jennifer and immediately knew I was in great hands. Not only did they have the BEST PRICE and QUALITY and FRIENDLY but they also genuinely had MY BEST INTEREST IN MIND. All of those separately are hard to find but together those qualities are PRICELESS. I was surprised that nobody had reviewed Roxanne Jewelry, so here goes. What great people! I went in there a year ago with my girlfriend - just to see what they had and what she liked. I knew that I couldn't afford a ring just yet. She asked how long it might be befoer I could afford it, and she put the ring on layaway for five months! She called at the five month mark and I asked her to take the ring off of layaway, as circumstances were not right for me monetarily. A year went by, and with a full wallet I went in to Roxanne Jewelry again. Jennifer not only recognized me - she remembered the ring my girlfriend loved and special ordered a custom wedding band to match. All told, I ended up with a wedding set for my honey with almost 2 carats of diamonds set in 14K white gold AND a 7mm white gold wedding band for me for at least half of what I would pay anywhere else. Jennifer and Frank want to make you happy - get you what you want at a good price. So pop in to #16 at 700 Hill Street. A year ago, my girlfriend & I decided to go the Jewelry District to just look at engagement rings, we had no plan to buy. The first place we walked into was the building that housed Roxanne. We strolled around a bit and when we got to their counter Jennifer welcomed us warmly. We talked about our desires and price range and tried a few options. One ring in particular caught our eye and we fell in love with it. Very unique, inexpensive and beautiful. But we weren't looking to buy and this was just the first store we had checked out, so we put it on hold and walked down the street. We went to a dozen other shops and didn't care for anything we saw. We took a break at Starbucks and talked about it. We loved that first ring. We decided then and there that we wanted it right now. WOW. ZERO stars. Typical small jewelry store In the downtown la jewelry district - all sweet talk, compliments, false assurances that if anything happens, they will be there for you because their customers are number one, that they couldn't be successful without catering to their faithful clients, yadda yadda yadda. All BS. Once they have your money firmly in their pocket, they act like you're the plague, a nuisance and treat you like dirt. I bought a piece of jewelry from here because the owner said the ring fit me perfectly, that it was supposed to fit this way, that it was fate (I left my own ring on the counter and came back later to retrieve it) that brought me back, etc etc and after some aggressive selling, she lowered the price to an attractive deal. I was so overwhelmed by her praise and the price and the diamonds glittered so beautifully....that I bit the bullet. However, once I took it home, I was very underwhelmed by the piece. It was scratched and nicked like it was worn, the diamonds were dull and lackluster (how I did not notice this at the store is beyond me. I must've been really blind/stupid or they have amazing spot lighting. Maybe I was too excited and couldn't see the flaws.) Oh and the ring didn't fit! It was much too big on me (I wore the ring incorrectly while trying it on at Roxanne). Anyway, after one month of NO wear because it didn't fit and because the diamonds looked like FROZEN SPIT, I called and asked politely if I could exchange, not return, the item for something else. She asked how much I paid, and then said she couldn't do anything for me. The most she could do was resize it for me. However, the nature of the piece is that it has pave diamonds all around and thus cannot be resized, so I'm basically SOL. What am I do to with a ring that can't be worn? Well, I guess it's my fault for falling for their trap and for not being a savvy buyer (understand why I'm such a brand name whore now? This would never happen at VCA, Cartier, or Tiffany). They use cheap diamonds, crappy material, and no surprise, they have equally shitty service. I'm out a pretty penny. All I can hope to do now is get half of what I paid at one of those scamming "cash for gold" places. Should I try craigslist? Oh, wait, maybe it belongs in the trash where it belongs. I admit it is my fault - buyer beware, you get what you pay for, etc and all those other age old idioms apply to me. But it doesnt have to happen to you. If you value your hard earned money, don't come here. There are so many other reputable places to buy engagement rings in dtLA, it's a shame I haven't been to one for jewelry. Expensive lesson well learnt. ETA: ring is worth about 100-150 and I paid 7x that price. Wow, I totally got suckered, didn't I??? read more

This jeweler offers not just great priced jewelry compared to other stores in the area but also excellent quality which is very important. I bought a necklace, a new wedding ring setting and band. I was very pleased with what I ordered they went above and beyond what I wanted, it is beautiful! I love how Jennifer is so patient and took her time to make sure what I wanted was just right, she was also not pushy like other sellers and allowed me to admire their collection at my own pace and come back later to make sure it was what I wanted. I wanted a second band to go with the single one and Frank told me if I by a new band he would replace the diamond for free. So I bought it and they replaced the diamond for free. Another 6 months later another diamond was missing. I went back and Jennifer talked me into buying a necklace so they didn't charge me to replace the diamond. Another 6 months later I was missing another diamond so I went back to them. They replaced the diamond again and told me they would charge me the next time. I asked Frank if I could exchange the ring and he said no! I am contemplating taking them to small claims court. VERY DISAPPOINTED! Avoid this place! Jennifer really really disappointed me big time. I asked them to make a second wedding band for me. When I went to pick it up the diamond was smaller. I could obviously see this very easily, but instead of being truthful with me she continued to tell me what a great job she did. I will not do business with someone who is not up front with me. I randomly strolled over to their booth and asked them for their opinion on the best place to have my jewelry molds made. Jennifer instantly gave me great advice, never once suggesting to me that I should let her own company do this for me. I used to live right down the street from here, and spent a lot of time in many different jewelry stores in the jewelry district. Over the years, I have bought numerous things from this store, including a diamond pendant as well as a 3 carat diamond ring that has a complex and very unique setting. Jennifer is totally awesome. A few years after I bought the ring, I injured my hand in my car accident. A small diamond fell out of the ring during the accident. I called Jennifer in a panic as I had moved out of town.
