I gotta believe the bare minimum a would be safe to eat at least. This restaurant is not clean ( go look at the kitchen) and the food is not safe to eat. I have been a member of the associated golf club, Angels Crosding in past years and experienced less than good food and service in the past. But they have reached a new low. This year (2019) there were a lot of changes in leadership for the golf course AND the restaurant and I was hopeful things would improve, but wary. I should have been MUCH MORE wary. Tonight May 23, 2019 after playing in league, II decided for the first time in months to try the food. I order a simple dinner, a grilled chicken breast with two sides - price $16.00. It came out fast! In hindsight probably much to fast. I am 68 years old, and need reading glasses to read, and and after this experience I probably should make it a rule to wear them when I eat. Why? Well after a few bites of chicken I thought " this is pretty chewy for chicken" ! I put my glasses on and to my horror, the chicken was raw. I showed the chicken to several people at my table and my server who confirmed it was raw. U fortunately, I had eaten several bites by this time. Plenty to getbgetbvety ill from eating raw chicken. Of course I sent it back. I had NO interest in having it re-prepared. I asked to speak to the kitchen manager who was there - but she was to cowardly to come out to speak with me claiming she was to busy. I say bull to that. My server said I would not be charged (big deal I ate little to nothing) and given my overpriced glass of wine for free. (Who cares about a free glass of wine if I get sick or die) This is wrong. I will be calling the health department tomorrow morning to report this. (if I am not sick or in the hospital) I've heard of other horror stories and it's time the City of Vicksburg to be be held acvountable. The city of Vicksburg who owns this establishment is not listening. It is dangerous and unconscionable to allow this to continue. Chuck Warner 269-207-3948

Apparently The Cove has a reputation for having great cheesecake so we made a special stop just for that. A lot of the menu items looked enticing and the view along the water was quite pleasant so we ended up ordering some other desserts including the chocolate mousse cake along with some other food and drinks too. Two of us had the Boozy Root Beer Float, I had the Sunset Sangria with a burger and Caesar salad. Next time I would like to try the crab cakes. Our waitress was friendly and making jokes. We enjoyed the atmosphere and even seeing a couple of swans with their babies pass us by.

My husband is on oxygen and has a portable unit. We, of course, were seated at the furthest table possible from the front door. That's probably just Murphy's Law and possibly an area to improve training the reception staff. Dining area has no sound suppression and is one very long room. Extremely loud. I could not hear my date from across our 2-top table. Service was disappointing, but it may not have been her fault. It seems this establishment has no interest in accommodating, nor knowledge of, food allergies. There are no vegan options and no way to avoid dairy on/in most everything on the menu. Absolutely no starters are available without dairy (or cross contamination). We were told the crab cakes "have butter as a binder..." I'm not kidding. It's simple, mildly seasoned food, but it's almost all covered in butter for absolutely no reason I can honestly fathom. Once our food arrived, things went downhill quickly. My entire dish was cold (whitefish meal, no substitutions). His was piping hot (Sunset Shrimp, no subs but no dairy). We found our meals to have mediocre flavor, at best. I almost never do this when out, but had to add salt and pepper to all of my meal. The "champagne butter sauce" on my whitefish was a bland Alfredo-ish covering (no, not a drizzle or light coating) that I eventually scraped to the side. We were also very disappointed when informed at the end of the meal that our gift card - given to us and saved for this experience - was not valid on Mondays, because we're members of the Millennium Group club. IYKYK, but we've never had another MG restaurant do this to us. All in all, a total bust. Not a good environment for a couple, a disabled person, or someone with a food sensitivity. While we love MG restaurants, we'll stay clear of this one.

Inside is a vintage, home town feel with Vicksburg posters of sports teams on the walls, some corner TV's and sparse St. Patty's Day decorations. Our waiter was Nick, soon to buy out his father and become owner of the whole restaurant! He has worked his way up from dishwasher, cook, waiter, front of house and is now being taught the art of pie making by one of his long time pastry ladies. Nick says everything is good on the menu, especially the breakfast. My mom ordered a kielbasa scramble with onions, green peppers etc. she loved it. I went for the eggs Benedict Florentine. So good! Great hollandaise sauce that did not split and had just the right edge of mustard to sharpen the flavors. Delicious! We finished with some homemade pies with decaf coffee. Very happy we stopped and enjoyed a meal. Thanks Nick! We wish you and your restaurant all the best.

They were having a live band that evening, which we did not realize until it was time, but it was a nice surprise! We stopped in on an early spring day - everyone is craving the sunshine by the time winter finally breaks in Michigan! We sat in the sunroom area which is SO nice and light, but also insulated enough to stay cozy when it's not quite warm outside just yet!! We sat at a table that was to be very affected by the live band about to come in and set up. No one let us know about this, even though the waitress came and took our order prior - it would have been nice to know ahead of time as we definitely would have chosen a different spot, but we were able to pick up and move ourselves to another table when we realized what was happening! The live music is super fun, but is very loud - just something to be aware of if you don't love that sort of thing - maybe choose a seat inside the main part of the restaurant, if desiring to avoid!! :) Our order was placed behind a very large table. Due to this we had to wait over 30 mins for our 2 person order. Not overly surprising but something to keep in mind - the kitchen is not equipped to keep up with the rest of the rest of the restaurant if working on one large party order! Bonus: the atmosphere was really nice for a long wait! :) Vickers has a nice sized menu with a lot of variety!! We ordered nachos and a chicken sandwich. They have a several choices for sides - this is something I very much appreciate as I don't always want fries or chips with a sandwich! The option to upgrade is a big deal!! I upgraded to a side salad which was a great size and a good amount of toppings to make it very delicious! We will be back to Vickers! A nice, local spot inside of a cute, cozy town!! :)

The parking lot (watch for the big pothole!) faces a beautifully gladed small woods. I was looking forward to eating outside in this little slice of nature. There are a few tables and chairs outside the building, located under the roof, which is helpful. The menu is either taped to the counter or as a sheet you can look at (see photo). There are a TON of choices! The staff was so kind and funny. We enjoyed talking with her. I got the Reuben and my husband got the House Specialty: Italian. These are hot subs, so you go sit and wait for them to come hot! I didn't love the music inside - seemed loud and there was also a tv going. I went to sit outside and there is also music PIPED OUTSIDE. I have one question: WHY?!!! When our sandwiches were ready, we went and sat in the car, windows rolled up to avoid the noise. We wanted them hot, or else we'd have driven a bit away to eat in peace. The grinders were hot, excellent bread, nice toppings. The meat was pretty stingy, imho. My Rueben had three thin slices of corned beef, a sprinkling of sauerkraut, a bit of melted swiss (yum), and plenty (thank you!) of thousand island dressing. I expected more meat and definitely more sauerkraut. The taste was delicious. I love that they come in a cardboard box - keeps the bread crispy and hot. If you must eat in your car, the box also unfolds into a sort of impromptu tray for your lap. We won't be returning to this location, because of what you actually get on your grinders, and the noise in the dining room and outside. Other locations are preferred for us for these reasons.
