I wrote a review of Marjo's a few weeks ago. It was a great review of this great neighborhood place. Good, hot food Great staff,etc. BUT, we have a discount card that Schoolcraft High School sells. Discounts at various restaurants in and around the local area. We've bought these cards for the past several years. We've patronized participating restaurants who support the area schools. This year, Marjo's has a new policy about these cards. Instead of 5 percent off your tab, they only take 5 percent off of one food item. So, for two breakfasts and drinks our bill was $28.00. Our discount .58, yes 58 cents!!! Very disappointed. Why patronize any place for a .58 discount ?? read more

Where to start....the 6 egg omelette, the huge biscuit....the sausage gravy?? It is no wonder why this place is rated awesome by the good people of the community. Good thing I paid for the meal with my credit card instead of debit. I was notified by my credit card's fraud dept of an overcharge. I left a cash tip and someone charged my card an unauthorized 33% tip. I will NEVER be returning to Marjo's diner. read more

Marjo's is nothing fancy, but don't drive on by. The food and service were excellent. Breakfast all day is a plus for me. I thoroughly enjoyed the breakfast bowl, which had blackened potatoes, sausage, scrambled eggs, and gravy. We stopped by after the lunch crowd. My companion had a nice sized western omelette with a biscuit. The biscuit was large and delicious, and sure beat toast! read more

I was in town visiting some friends for the night and we decided to come by here and grab a late breakfast before starting our day. Even with the inside seating limitations, we were about to get in right away. Huge breakfast menu with very reasonably priced meals. I went for the Sampler 2 (because I wanted a biscuit and gravy) and my friend went for the breakfast burrito. Both looked amazing, but I was really happy with mine. We had lunch on Nov 14th at Marjo's. We had driven an hour and a half down to Schoolcraft from Zeeland to go to B and G discount. Marjo's looked like my kind of place, a little mom and pop joint, so that's why I chose it. It completely exceeded my expectations. The food was incredibly good. The portions were very generous and the prices were great! But the star of the show was Jessica, our waitress. She was the life of the party! Although this was in the north, she had that southern style charm. Great sense of humor, very animated, very clever, very sincere, and ultra hospitable! She made our visit so enjoyable. We can't wait to return, When we do, I will call ahead and make sure Jessica is working. It wouldn't be the same without her. To the owner, Jessica is a pure gem. Take good care of her. read more

I've been trying since Covid to make it here before they close. They only do dinner on Friday nights. The menu listed is no longer accurate (not surprising). It is condensed CONSIDERABLY. Came here for breakfast after a local event. Place was crowded but we were seated quickly. We got our drinks and ordered our breakfast, and within 5 minutes they were ready. Portions were big and very very tasty! I got the Texas Hash-brown breakfast and it was more than enough! Eggs were perfectly done and hash browns were mixed with sliced ham and onion with cheese on top. I ate it all! My daughter got a Kids Omelette and it was big as well! For those who don't like greasy food, you may not like some of the dishes. For those that do, it's a must come and try place! read more

I love these small town independents...always seem to have a few surprises on the menu. Located about 10 minutes south of K-zoo, Marjo's is Schoolcraft's only alternative to McDonalds for a hot breakfast early in the morning. I stopped in before sunrise while traveling on business and was really pleased with the small town hospitality and the great food and service. I loved the unique touch of the "coin machines" (see pic) just inside the front door. I've found that rural Michigan/Indiana are some of the few locales where you can still find these novelties of a bygone era. I chose the B'fast Special #2...the open faced, grilled bagel bread squares, Canadian bacon, 2 scrambled with melted Swiss and a mountain of hashbrowns. This was a really delicious and filling treat while opening my eyes with a hot cup of Joe. Marjo's lived up to my highest expectations. I'll be coming back for Special #1 on my next visit. read more

Great value - a half omelette is still 3 eggs and I took leftovers home! I am picky about restaurant cleanliness and sanitation. I'm not afraid to use the word "filthy" here. Dead bugs aplenty in the light fixtures, gross food chunks on the table bases. I got a glimpse into the kitchen and it wasn't pretty. They honestly need to close for a few days and host an all-staff cleaning party. Food was good, our server was great, but they really need to get all those employees smoking out back into the kitchen and dining room with a scrubbie and degreaser. read more

The food was nasty, cold, and greasy and the coffee was nothing but colored water.. The wait staff had bad attitudes. My father asked for napkins. When the waitress brought them, she slammed them on the table. My husband ordered his fries to be cooked lightly, they were brown and cold. They both ordered burgers, they were so cold, the grease on them congealed on the bun the burgers were setting on. This is a great restaurant. The food portions are great and service from Jessica was wonderful. Being a traditionalist, I like my food to be fresh. I like my sausage gravy to have ground sausage instead if chopped links or patties. Marjos has the ground sausage. Happy face...lol. The only critique I have is the mushrooms. They are canned. Yuck. I left a polite suggestion and spoke with the waitress. My theory is that if fresh mushrooms are suppose to be cleaned with a damp towel, why is ok to pack them in water? Just a thought..lol. Three of us stopped in MarJo's for lunch on our way north. I love these little mom-and-pop joints. It was fairly busy but we were promptly seated. Service was a little spotty as it seemed that the wait staff also ran the cash register and refilled condiments. I had the Reuben with coleslaw and fries. The portion size was huge. The Reuben was full of corned beef and the sauerkraut was pretty good but I could barely taste any swiss cheese. Everything was on well toasted marbled rye. A decent sandwich. Stopped by Marjo's on a Sunday. Had the French Toast combo, which is delicious. My only complaint, is that I order my eggs softly scrambled, and they don't seem to be able to get that right. My friend got half sandwich and soup, which he said was very good. Other friend ordered same as I, and although his eggs came out the same, he didn't mind. It took us a while to decide what to order because so many things looked good. The waitress was nice and laughed with us about taking so much time.. We came here for breakfast on a random Thursday morning. The pro's were the friendly staff and HUGE portions with very reasonable prices. The only con was that I received white toast instead of the wheat that I ordered, but the food was so good and the portions so large that I didn't feel the need to complain. Visiting in Michigan and stopped by here for breakfast. The food was excellent. They had the largest biscuits I have ever seen. Breakfast is served all day. I had a breakfast plate of 2 eggs, bacon and 2 pieces of French toast for $5.79. My husband had a scramble bowl. It was more than he could eat. He loved it. Our waitress was great.
