Even though I live fairly close to downtown, I don't get to come here during the week that often. This was one good day for me to come down for lunch though. It was quiet around 1:30pm They had a lady playing guitar in the front near the window and there were a few patrons eating also. I ordered the Chicken Pesto Sandwich with a side Salad and water. The sandwich was more like chicken salad when I expected an actual breast of chicken. But the flaky French Bread it was on was divine. Now to the best part. The pickles and pickled onion were the best! I should have asked for more. I put them on my salad and the combination of ranch and pickle and crisp green were oh ma gawww! Gooood! If you eat these pickles and onions you will be thinking of them for days after. Service was great. The waitress said you can ask for extra onions and pickles with your order. If they have extra because they make them in house in small batches. So good! Come here for lunch. You'll really enjoy it. read more

Who are these people who got good service at Roxx on Main? It's a slow Tuesday at this place and there is no silverware on the table. That doesn't change quickly. My coffee nearly got cold waiting for the sugar and spoon to hit the table. It takes four requests and 30 minutes to get table water. The flatbread which should have come out first came out after our wrap and burger. Oh and the wrap my wife got. The waitress wrote down the wrong one. So after 40 minutes (for a wrap!) they have to make her the right one. Apologies? Half-hearted with a sneer and glare that tells me the waitress thinks we're the ones who ordered wrong. Not true! So the food is good right? Meh. The strawberry balsamic flatbread was okay but really should have been toasted a bit more. The wrap was more like a salad in a loose tortilla which made it tough to eat. My burger? Average which is not what I expect for $10. In all, there's no good reason to visit Roxx unless you enjoy poorly-served mediocre over-priced food. read more

I've been back several times and love it. I was last there on Friday for lunch. I didn't realize they had a Niman beef hamburgers and I was on-board. The burger was wonderfully tasty and cooked perfectly. Alyssa, our server, was attentive and fun. My friend with me enjoyed it as well. As I read Kevin G's review, I can only wholeheartedly DISAGREE with him. Everyone I've talked with (most don't Yelp) always have really good things to say about Roxx. It's been my experience as well. Mom and Pop Tapas is about all I can say. - Wait staff is quite green. No clue that service is what brings people back. I felt embarrassed I brought my wife here on our rare date night out. I had high hopes for this place. They appeared 'packed' at 7 pm last weekend when they had five tables with about 10 people in the place. - Entering the place was unimpressive. From the kitchen, someone yelled hello as if it was a sushi joint. They need to establish some sort of host station up front. - Tables were kind of kicked all over the place. Nothing really elegant - no table clothes / candles / silverware - we waited 20 minutes for our drinks and water. - The outside sign said "good brew", so was hoping maybe it was a rare find.... when I saw two of the tables with locals that had Budweiser on their table, I realized my idea and theirs was different. Beer selection was ok for any standard 'bar'. They did have Affligen Belgian, which is about all I would consider a 'good' beer. Wine selection was a 3.5 out of 5. - Food was actually very good on its taste. Their strawberry flat bread was quite inventive. I give them a 4.5 on that for the construction and taste. I give the actual thick flat bread a 3 - so you can figure out the final total. We had another dish, which was basically the same. - The menu after that was not very interesting, and since our server was so unengaging, I didn't want to waste any more time there. We had our one drink and two plates and left. I had hoped to experience something else but didn't see the need. In Summary: 1) Establish a front host station 2) Fix your tables to make the area more inviting, not just scooted in the middle of your place, as close to the kitchen so there's less room for you to have to walk around. 3) Your menu is lacking something for Tapas. Sliders and Fish tacos, sorry, but might be good, but not what I think of when going out for a nice dinner... I can fit Cheetos on "Small Plates" too, but I just won't do it. 4) You had 6 people working that night, yet our one waitress visited us twice in the first 30 minutes of our visit with a total of 6 tables. That is not good, and should be worked on. Food as a whole was very good - Please work on your service. read more

Went looking for a place to get a salad and we coincidentally ran into this cute place. We ordered a great BLT and built or own salad both of which were so tasty. Will defiantly come again if in the area. The only thing I would say that coulda been better was the side salad that came with the BLt was very plain and the water glasses had spots. Cute little intimate restaurant/ cafe! I live walking distance form this place. It has weird hours and live music! Definitely a different kind of crowd (older and hippy), but a solid choice if you are in DT Martinez! Mostly knocking stars because no one greeted us. We awkwardly grabbed a table and werent sure if we were supposed to. Also, everyone who was in there looks like a regular and was kind of staring which made us really uncomfortable. First of all- very limited booze selections. Just a handful of red/white wines and some beer. The menu is surprisingly pretty diverse, with items like soups, sliders, and flatbreads being the highlight! I enjoyed the clam chowder which was really good! Made fresh daily. Our server was the owner I think, who was incredibly sweet and helpful. I also had a flatbread which was good but small. My friend had the veggie lasagna which she really enjoyed. The live music was reallllllly loud and obnoxious at times. We definitely had to yell over each other to have a conversation. Not really what I was hoping for a Friday night meal around 8pm. Overall. Food was good. I just think they could do more to be welcoming of new customers. Seemed like the owners were friends with every patron but us. read more

Roxx on Main is my new favorite place. I love my hometown, but its selection of good dining and a late night hangouts downtown (that doesn't involve a crowd of overly large white shirts and baggy pants) is hard to come by, which is why I was so surprised to see Roxx. The staff is amazing, the regulars are family, and even though the restaurant closes at 9, if it's hoppin', they stay open. It really is a charming business and such a positive addition to the Main street. read more

My new favorite place. I'd never been to the former Roxx on Main but had seen some pictures of what it used to look like so I was pleasantly floored at how Leslie and Pete completely transformed their new place into a chic, charming new eatery with great energy, excellent use of space, and deeelicious food. It was their grand opening and we were lavished, by their gracious, happy staff, with delicious appetizers flowing generously from the beautiful new kitchen until we were literally just to full to eat another bite. I can't wait to go back and order from her regular menu. And oh my gosh, we all loved the band! They were so much fun and their songs had people up dancing. Great night. read more

Went to Roxx this evening solo , first mistake. There were only about 10 patrons sitting at tables. I chose to sit at the counter. Five mins later a waitress came over to me and asked me if I would like something; yes I would like a menu. Then I got another waiteress who took my order. Food and drink came and never did she come back. Went to the bar and ordered myself another drink. More attention to couples or groups. I was invisible . Never again, service is terrible. read more

ROxx on Main was excellent!! The Food, the other people eating around us and service was perfect. I felt very welcomed like they new us and we were long lost friends. My husband ordered a vege burger from this restaurant through work 4/28. Although the bread was gluten free and was ok. The vege burger itself didn't taste right and being that he hadn't eaten here before didn't know what to expect. Needless to say his stomach is extremely unhappy. I think it is about time I gave Roxx on Main the props it deserves. I have seen this place since day one. All I can say, is that what a wonderful way to 'class' up Martinez. I love the wine selection, the cute inviting atmosphere; close, intimate. Oh, and of course, super CLEAN!!! Staff is friendly, knowledgable, and with the new outdoor seating too, WOW! We had the flat iron steak with scalloped potatoes, greens and mushrooms. Everything was delicious and the entree was big enough to share! All parts of the meal showed care and attention, from the fresh bread to flavorful side dishes, pretty flower garnish, and of course the steak with mouthwatering au jus sauce. Stopped at Roxx on Main after my graduation ceremony in SF with my parents, grandma, and fiancé. We were all pretty hungry and wanted to grab a quick bite to eat before heading to the nearby hospital (my sister was pushing out her first baby!). The kitchen was already closed, but they brought out a delicious cheese plate with goat cheese, blue cheese, and another cheese (I think it was from Dublin). Oh my, it was so good! The staff was so kind and generous. One gentleman, I'm thinking he was the bar owner, gave my mom and I a glass of champagne on the house. What a nice gesture! There was live music playing Sat night too. I have to say that Roxx on Main sure beat sitting in a hospital waiting room. Well Leslie Stiles has done it again! After her huge success with Haute Stuff years ago, she has opened another restaurant on Main Street in Martinez, which has only been open for a week. We went for lunch yesterday, because we know Lesley's cooking, and Tony's too! I ordered the Portabella mushroom sandwich as I'm a vegetarian, and it was absolutely delicious.It was cooked to perfection and loaded with roasted red peppers portobello mushroom and other veggies as well. It was moist, flavorful and the roll was delicious as well. It came with a side salad that had fresh tomatoes grown by Leslie and had a light summery vinaigrette. My friend had a beet salad and said it was outstanding. She had crème brûlée for dessert and I had a mixed berry crumble with vanilla ice cream which was slightly warmed and mouthwatering, incredibly delicious. I can't wait to go for dinner, and they have entertainment on the weekends!!! read more

As we were leaving, I told the man, Pete Sabine, that the staff said was one of the owners, that I didn't like the disrespectful band, "Killbillies," and the Roxx would not get my recommendation. He became upset about the poor rating, told me I hadn't parked my motorcycle right and he was calling the cops. He told me to leave and his buddies started yelling at me. The cops arrived. I explained my side of it. A cop told me I could leave if that is what I was doing. A few minutes later, Pete Sabine saw me on the next block. He stormed toward me, passing several businesses to tell me, "I just want you to know my name is Sabine and I'm Sicilian." I took this to mean that he is mob connected and I had better rate the place five stars. I said nothing. He walked back toward his club. We will never be back there. This place is fantastic!! I brought my daughter to Thursday nights open mic to get her some performing practice, and left as a customer who will come back for sure. First, the service was excellent. I was attended to quickly, even though it was busy. Our server knew the menu, and was not afraid to make food or drink recommendations. Next, the crowd was great. Very low key, but friendly crowd. I would bring my daughter her anytime, and will recommend friends do as well. The open mic was great! A well represented group of musicians, and a host who kept things rolling even though the event was booked, and had a waiting list of a dozen people. The sound system was good, and the host was always sure to adjust when needed for the different performers. To finish things off, many people, including the owner, the host, and customers came to congratulate my daughter for a great performance. It was great to have that, and the confidence it gave my daughter was priceless. I highly recommend this place if you want good food, great service, and a diverse, child friendly crowd. read more

My wife and I were on vacation from Florida and stopped in Martinez CA as we heard that it's "the birthplace of the martini". We stopped at Roxx for lunch on a beautiful California September day. We sat outside (COVID dining) and had a most amazing meal. My wife got the corned beef and said it was the best she ever had, and she's from ny! Lean with no fat that often makes corn beef chewy. I had the turkey and avocado sandwich, just amazingly delicious. And by the way, our martinis did not disappoint, perfectly made to order. I had a splendid dinner at Roxx on Main a few weeks ago. I'm new to Martinez and this was definitely a find! Had the petit filet with veggies and mashed potatoes (though not sure it it's still on the menu) and a side salad. Everything cooked to perfection and the glass of Green Valley Cabernet (more kudos for promoting local vineyards) complemented the meal perfectly. I wanted to thank Roxx on Main for giving me the opportunity to have an Easter dinner. I work for a company that is considered an essential service, we are working 12-15 hr days and had to work today. Without them I would not have been able to have an incredible Easter dinner. Easter dinner is one of my family's favorites. The ham and potatoes were amazing, the salad was fresh and crisp. Thank you again, the food was amazing. My husband and I ate here one night to see the local musicians. We were the first two people in the restaurant and actually had to wait an hour for our order to be taken. It might have taken longer, but I actually walked back to the kitchen to ask somebody to take my order (a lady at the table next to us had to do the same). The food was okay, but mostly plain and overpriced. We were given little four ounce water glasses that were only refilled once. We were so parched we drank the whole 1-liter water bottle I had in my purse and had to ask them to give us tap water as we were leaving. We never received a check, having been there for hours, so I walked back to the kitchen to get that also. I was pretty dissatisfied with the service so I didn't leave a tip. As I was balancing my checkbook later (and yes, I realize I'm probably one of the few people left that still do) I saw that they added a $9 tip. I emailed them to ask them to reverse the charge (per the advice of my bank) and they explained that somebody must have confused a "6" for a "9" or something to that effect. I explained that I left no tip so that it couldn't be my handwriting either way. They said they would mail me a check or if I sent my debit card info they would reverse the charge. I didn't feel comfortable with either so I just had my bank dispute the charge. Long story short, if you don't believe me or even like overpriced, mediocre food and crappy service, go ahead. But pay with cash or keep your receipt and check your bank statement. Since nobody balances their checkbooks against bank records I can imagine it's pretty easy to get away with. read more
