I don't say this lightly, but this spot seriously blew me away. The lentil soup? Absolutely incredible -- it instantly took me back to the kind of homemade comfort food my mom used to make. Rich, warm, and full of flavor in the best way. Everything here feels like it's made with care. The pita bread is unbelievably soft and fresh -- the kind you could honestly eat on its own and still be happy. And the rest of the menu? If it's anything like what I tried, I'm convinced it's all 10/10. Hands down some of the best Mediterranean food I've had in the Bay Area, especially in the East Bay. I like Troy. I always order the gyro plate and although I usually prefer the gyro meat to be shaved, I do enjoy theirs which is more in larger strips. It tastes really good too. The sides are very good - the Greek salad and vegetables. My wife really likes their food and usually orders the vegetarian plater or chicken souvlaki. The hummus appetizer is very good too. Troy might be one of the best restaurants in Martinez. Dude its kinda weird. You walk into this restaurant and just the decor and vibe feels like you aren't in Martinez anymore. It's really nice inside. It almost feels like it could be a restaurant in Walnut Creek or something. They have two hot sauces that you'll want to put on everything. First is a green hot sauces that is very herby but with a kick. The other is sweet but almost tangy hot sauce. If you get any fries put the sauces on them. If you get a Gyro? Put the sauces on them. I almost wanna say try them even if you aren't into putting hot sauce ln your food. Only because I feel like trying the sauces is actually part of the experience in Troy. You basically aren't having an optimal experience if you aren't trying them. Also. Get a Margarita. Went here with family and had such a good experience! After eating so much heavy food throughout the holidays, we were craving something different. We are new to the area and wanted to try a new restaurant. Stumbled upon this place and are so glad we did. We sat on the patio, which was a surprising option because it was cold and rainy outside. There were heaters and it kept us warm enough to still enjoy the meal. I bring my dog everywhere with me and they were kind enough to give her lots of pets and bring her a bowl of water. One of the most surprising things I ordered was the avgolemono (lemon chicken) soup. It was perfectly bright, yet hearty enough for the cold rainy day. I also ordered a grilled shrimp salad with feta and it too hit the spot. My family all ordered chicken souvlakis (add feta) and I was equally impressed by the flavor. Their side sauces are SO good and if they sold them by the bottle, I would 10000% buy. The fries were perfectly crispy and addicting, and it makes me want to come back and try the onion rings. Easy on the eyes and ears. Troy uses the art on the walls and the employees dress and movements rather than pumped in music to set a nice ambiance. I was pleasantly surprised about the Falafel wrap my wife and I shared. A nice fresh taste and crunch without too much salt or spicyness. They have (what I am told by my Son)- some deliciously spicy green sauce and milder red sauce that my co-diners used liberally on their chicken Shwarma and the Falafel. On our visit these were not offered but had to be asked for. I passed on these today - but next time!. They have decent beer on tap for $7 a pint, when some places have the nerve to charge eight or God forbid nine dollars these days. Our server Yazan had a pleasant demeanor and provided almost perfect service. Our 'to be shared' wrap came cut in half for us. Cut in half for us rather than leaving us with a knife, an extra plate and to our own devices. A couple of negatives. My Son, a former employee at Port Costa's Bull Valley Roadhouse, noted that a wobbly table is a big resturaunt No- No-!. He said "I checked Bull Valley tables daily for wobbles and carried pieces of cork in my pocket for an emergency table fix." Management: This would be Table: 62 Troy has two 'Choose Your Gender' bathrooms that while being far from horrible, could use some cleanup on the soapy gunked up soap dispensers and paper waste strewn around. So to rap it up, three of us got out of there with two beers, a refillable cola, a Falafel wrap, a chicken Shwarma for $53 before tip and enjoyed the food and experience. Their check-in process is pretty unorganized, so you have no idea how long you're going to be waiting for a table. Everyone stood in a line in front of the podium & waited until a staff member got to them, in the order of the line. No taking down names & people in each party. We ended up waiting for about 30 minutes to be seated, for the two of us. The staff seemed to be trained on all jobs, which made us think they must be short staffed. The person who brought us to our table, also bussed our table prior, brought us our drinks, & was a nearby table's waitress. The food came out quickly, but when we asked for more water & a side of tzatziki, that never arrived, & we had to have it taken off our bill. The food was pretty tasty, though the fries definitely needed a sauce (that we never received). I ordered the chicken souvlaki and was disappointed by the execution and accuracy of the menu description. What was served was simply sliced chicken breast, not souvlaki. Souvlaki is, by definition, marinated and skewered meat that's grilled with some char and structure. This dish lacked a skewer, proper marinade character, and any indication of traditional preparation. It was essentially plain grilled chicken slices mislabeled as souvlaki. The tzatziki also missed the mark. It appeared thin and watery, more like low-quality yogurt with additions rather than properly strained Greek yogurt with the thickness and richness you'd expect. The hummus was served as a very thin smear on a plate, paired with too little pita to actually eat it. The portioning felt more like cost control than thoughtful presentation. Overall, this wasn't a case of personal taste -- the food simply didn't match what was advertised. Mediterranean dishes rely on specific techniques and textures, and those fundamentals weren't there. We have been coming here for years and used really enjoy it. This place is not kid friendly. No kids meal and the "recommended" was $11 for a few chunks of hard, dry chicken and fries for $7. My son couldn't even eat the chicken and the fries were way over fried and dry. Most of the food is decent and service friendly. The pricing seems a little high and they ended up overcharging for items (like being charged again for pita when we ordered the hummus appetizer). The service struggles when there is a big crowd. Troy wasn't too busy on this particular Saturday night and neither was downtown Martinez which was kinda odd with the nice weather. My party of 6 sat on the patio which was very nice. The host was very friendly and answered all of our questions patiently. We shared a mezza platter appetizer. It was delicious. The falafel and pita were delightful. As you make your way to the door you see on the left and right side outdoor seating. For those who just want to enjoy this HOT summer then yes outside seating is available. Walking inside you are greeted by all the staff. You are asked "would you like to be seated outside or inside your choice" we opted in for inside as it was wayyyy too hot for us. So we sat down and this little room that had this amazing wall painting. The seats were very comfy and spacious so yes for those who are in the lovable side there are seats for us. As we looked over the menu not even 1 min we had fresh water in-front of us without asking for it so yesss amazing customer service. As we all looked through the menu I saw amazing food I've never heard of or eaten so I was excited. Yes queens first time eating Greek food so to quote Adele "go easy on me" I decided I would try this grilled chicken with rice grilled veggies and a side of Taziki yogurt never thought I would be having yogurt with my meal but OMG it gets better. For drinks I decided to go with the sour cherry Greek soda and a margarita. The soda at first tasted like Robitussin but after pouring it in the iced cup it tasted like hibiscus soda. It was such an amazing taste I was about to order a full 6 pack of this amazing soda so yes don't eww it till you try it the margarita was good it was just how I like them super strong. I must say I got to love the speedy service this restaurant has. We put our order in and with in 5-8 min we all had our dish in front of us. Like I said I went with the grilled chicken with rice and stuff. Another when with the grilled shrimp salad with no onions, another went with the melitzano wrap and the other one went with a chicken wrap. All with no onions. When I say the food smelled delicious I'm exaggerating as to how amazing it smelled. Now for the moment of truth did the Dendingers love the dish....... Drum roll please prrrrrrrrrrrrrrr..... YES QUEENS THE DENDINGERS LOVED THE MEAL AND WILL DEFINITELY BE COMING BACK FOR ANOTHER AMAZING DISH!!! I've never knew that Greek food was soooo fresh and amazing. I must say I was wanting more of that yogurt and more of the pita at this point I just wanted a whole new plate. We were immediately greeted when we entered the door, and we opted for some seating on the left side of the building, away from the bar. Alyssa was our server and she was fantastic! She gave us suggestions and here's what we ended up getting: Dolmas - tangy, refreshing, and delicious with tzatziki sauce (9/10) Spanikopita - flaky, crispy dough with savory feta and spinach inside. Heavenly! (9/10) Plain fries - weren't really feeling like having seasoned fries, so we asked for them plain. Solid! (8/10) Mediterranean Plate - came with chicken shawarma, rice, salad, pita, and hummus. Definitely shareable between two people if you're getting other menu items, but a perfect serving for one on its own. Absolutely phenomenal! (10/10) We had such a good experience here, and really enjoyed the food Troy had to offer! It was a pretty quiet night when we came, so it was easy to have a flowing conversation throughout dinner. The tables are nicely spaced out in the dining area to the left, so it's a little more intimate and is a great place to eat and chat with your party.
