This is quickly becoming one of my favorite places in the area for breakfast. Sometimes I don't need a super fancy or swanky breakfast spot. Sometimes I just want a nice homey place that's got that a little of that diner feel to it. Because what really matters? It's the food. Right? That's mostly why you are researching stuff as we speak. And not only does Copper Skillet give you good food. They give you a lot, which is always appreciated in a pricey California. So they have lunch specials and recently I tried the Chopped Cheese which is on Tuesdays. Like I said earlier, you get a lot of food so you'll definitely be full. In terms of the quality I thought it was really good but for some reason I was just expecting a little more from the sandwich itself. Maybe it just didn't seem cheesy enough? I also feel like it was a tiny light on the spread they used. Im pretty sure it was a mayo. But I'd still try it again sometime. I really want to get a shout out to the Chicken and Waffle though. I'm so picky about this dish but I was really impressed with Copper Skillets. The chicken had good flavor and was juicy. Meanwhile the waffle had a great flavor and texture as well. Our family breakfast was a series of avoidable frustrations. My husband and I were refused seating until our entire party arrived (our son and daughter in law (and baby grandson) were parking); meanwhile, the hostess seated two larger groups who arrived after us. When our kids joined us minutes later, we were forced to wait again because our table had been given away. The service remained unprofessional throughout. We asked for coffee while we waited. We were handed black coffee in paper to-go cups with no offer of cream or sugar. When finally seated, our server mocked my request for a proper ceramic mug. Our meals arrived 10 minutes apart. Unacceptably, the toddler's pancakes were among the delayed plates. Because we wanted to eat together, the first three plates sat and got cold while we waited for the rest. Meanwhile, a party of four next to us received all their meals simultaneously. A neighboring server eventually stepped in to help because our assigned server was so inattentive. Our bill was $102, and though I left a $20 tip out of respect for the industry, the dismissive treatment and total lack of coordination were a dealbreaker. We will not be returning. read more

Unfortunately for this family, values were only installed as long as you are all on the same side of the fence. Or should I say community? Nonetheless, here is a review of today's service. Our waitress bless her heart told us that she was obviously not new to the business, but new to the establishment. Respecting her as a previous fellow waitress, we did not fault her. She was actually very sweet, caring, attentive, and kind. All of the things that one in the hospitality service is born with. The people that actually run this restaurant are money, hungry bullies. I've worked in the city of Martinez for more than 10 years. Climbing my way up from nothing. The entitlement that flows throughout the Copper Skillet is just disgusting. I noticed a $.75 charge for ranch that I had never seen prior to this visit. Yes things change I understand, however notifying customers prior to the charge so that we could make that decision would have been key. No fault to the waitress just to her training considering she was new. She did the right thing and went and got a veteran waitress. One whose pictures are scattered on Instagram, however I do not know her name. Never in all of my years of working in the city of Martinez would I think of treating anybody the way that they treated me. I asked about it and said I would not come back if the attitude was all they were serving me. As free speakers, we are allowed to state what we feel. I kept it to a key minimum, until I noticed one of the waitresses literally staring me down. I turned to see if it was me she was looking at and she just kept a face that screamed for attention silly of me to give it to her. Someone who appeared to be maybe a sister to her an older much taller sister loudly said "I don't know who she thinks she's looking at", in front of plenty of customers. The restaurant was pretty filled. So I said just as loud, but not quite yelling yet. I'm looking at you.. or whoever over, there has not come to address the issue. Someone said something that I didn't hear and the big sister said.. "who does she think she's talking to I get off at 3 o'clock". I became enraged and said " are you threatening me, bitch"? At that point, I just wanted to leave and a large man came out from the back. As he came out after the incident had already taken place, a couple with a child walked in and sat close by. He came directly up to our table, put his face down near our faces and started muttering about my tone, but loudly saying "there's a baby here". I lowered my tone almost to a whisper, and asked "is that's how you're going to let your employees treat me". He said "now you can get out". I was so consumed by this large man, who stood so close to us, that I could feel his breath, I never saw the waitress. She was standing next to me! Here I was, and I kept saying "I just want to pay and leave". As I tapped my card and still tipped 25% (standard). The waitress snatched the card reader from me and I said "don't you snatch anything from me!" That's what I was threatened with the police, waste of resources, making an entire scene because his waitresses were in the wrong!Unfortunately, some of the customers agreed with him.. one of them even told me to "be quiet". The waitress that seem to be some kind of lead the one who is on Instagram, the one who snatched the card reader, the one who walked away after I asked about the $.75 charge in the first place saying "I'm just trying to pay my bills, I have to charge that I'm not trying to get fired." I responded "you've worked here long enough to know you're not going to get fired over $.75"! Out of pocket acting like a patron can't ask a question because you did not teach your waitress the etiquette, well it's all unacceptable. In the end, the huge man followed us out. We exchanged extremely disrespectful heated words and I just wonder if it's all on camera and if there's any sound so that the city of Martinez and the people that love his business so much can hear how he told me to go back to wherever I came from! 1st time here, the wait was moderate, friendly staff, from the hostess, waitress. Breakfast was delicious, we ordered, the Fiesta omelette (chorizo, onions, avocado & cheese) with country potatoes (hash browns available). I ordered the 1/2 order French Toast with 2 eggs & bacon. OCT2025 Stopped in for brunch with some family that had visited. The place gets quite busy but noise wasn't too bad which was nice. Service checked on us often with water and coffee refills aplenty. My partner ordered a Cali benedict with hash browns and onions. I had ordered the skinny omelette and we had a short stack between us to share. The benedict had a nice hollandaise, and the bacon a good crunch. The hash browns were cheesy too which was great. The skinny omelette was cooked well with all the veggies. Overall just needed a bit of salt but better to err on the safe side with that as it is. The short stack was good; nice and fluffy. This seems to be the weekend place for locals to grab breakfast. Families post kids sports, farmer market, it's certainly popular on Sundays. The owner seems frantically scrambling, which doesn't instill either comfort or confidence for the waiting masses outside. Once we breeched the entrance, things got better. The "drinks crew" was a speedy, efficient machine. Coffee was very low flavor, maybe the usual patrons favor cream and sugar. I typically drink black, this needed the additions. Time from putting our names to waiting list, (9:54am) ordering then receiving food (11am) 66 min. Food was tasty. Worth the price? Very much so. Worth the wait?. Not really, not to our family. Staff was super friendly. The restaurant felt clean. While I was waiting at the register to pay, no less than 4 staff informed me that someone was coming. 7 min later they did - kind of a long time to be standing by the register. Overall a nice, delicious and friendly place if you're enjoying a lazy Sunday and have no place to be for a while. We waited about 10 minutes for a table, but the time flew by -- and after eating here, we totally get why there's a wait. This place is clearly popular for a reason! Had a wonderful breakfast here with my mom and daughter this week. I have lived in the area a long time and this is my first trip here. I I'm definitely returning. I had the Fiesta Omelette, which comes with a side of sour cream, pico de gallo, and a wonderful medium hot sauce. It was a wonderful combination of tastes. The hash browns were perfectly golden and the toast was warm and buttered. My coffee cup was never empty and the service was really good. Love the wood interior It feels like a Tahoe restaurant. My meal was Huge!!! I wish I brought my wife to share. I've know of the Copper Skillet for years and always wanted to come here. Today I a reason. Dropped my son at the superior court for Jury Duty and had an hour and a half to kill before an appt in Pleasant Hill. Yeahi, breakfast time.... Walking in I was greeted immediately, "take a seat anywhere". It was 3/4 full on a Monday morning at 8:30am, a good sign. I took a seat, the interior was tight but not cramped. The waitress came right over with menus. I knew what I wanted. Chicken Fried Steak and eggs. She asked one or two? What restaurant states you can have Two steaks. I'm going for broke and said two please. My mistake. The steaks were large, plus three eggs and hash and toast. Half came home with me. So $20 later I was full, took tomorrow's breakfast home cutting the bill in half, and had a great breakfast. The staff continued to check on me throughout my meal but was never pushy. I'd like to bring Wifey here on a Sunday morning for a great meal and enjoy the downtown Farmers Market. 100% recommended. read more

Went to the restaurant again today for french toast. They have quite a complex menu there with a variety of unique items. It's actually worth checking out some nice combinations that are unique there such as a ham sandwich made out of French toast. It sounds very appetizing The staff was very friendly and attentive, I didn't have an empty cup of coffee. The food was okay. They give you a nice portions. I think next time however I will get the hash browns instead of the country potatoes. They're potatoes are sliced different and kind of look like they're deep fried which isn't bad, it's just not what I'm used to. A little pricey but I think all food is today especially restaurants Kind of a small place and it's really popular so seating might be limited. I'm from So Cal, but originally from The City (yeah, not just The Bay, but SF proper) and I consider The Copper Skillet to be my go-to favorite enough to call it, "Destination Dining" where I'd drive the 30+ miles that takes up to an hour or so embarking across the Bay Bridge just to get to The Copper Skillet whenever I'm in town, and I do visit family and friends often. The Food Gods has blessed me that they serve their signature breakfast menu all day, so I never have to worry about running late, or deciding at off hours that I crave their traditional morning delights. My recommendation is to customize your own breakfast, choosing among what seems to be nearly 50 different items on the menu and selecting something a little different every time. You can't go wrong with the linguica and corned beef hash, 2 of my favorite breakfast meats, or the chicken fried steak, which is well seasoned and tasty. Add in a waffle and country potatoes and you got yourself a great breakfast spread for one you'd never want to share because its so good, with great portions that anything leftover will have your heart and future appetite thank you for saving something for later. My wife swears by the Heart Attack Omelet, for the savory gravy atop a plethora of pork, highlighted by the linguiça (thank goodness, because otherwise I'd have to share mine with her!). It's super kid and family friendly, as my son loves the cute silver dollar pancakes, strawberry French toast or strawberry waffle for his sweet tasty carbs and sometimes gets the Courtyard Special which has everything he wants and needs. For some reason, we almost always order off the breakfast menu as creatures of habit and it's generally what we drive nearly an hour for as our obsessive craving. However, I'm also a soup guy and we always take a daily soup home with us. Yeah, we tend to overorder because it's our "since we're here and we drove all the way here" thing to do. When it comes to lunch or dinner, I'll deviate off the breakfast menu once in a while for a basic burger or french dip as I often just like to taste the meats with minimal garnishments, add on's nor sauces and those really hit their mark with me. The staff are welcoming and friendly and of course, parking is very convenient and easy, so it's always a pleasant experience coming in and going out. I highly recommend The Copper Skillet, as it's legendary by the locals, but for travelers passing by or those in the proximity, it's worth the stop and making a plan to check it out. read more

Bacon, 2- eggs, toast, coffee $19.00, I wasn't happy about the $1.95 a little bit of grilled onion but whatever. It's a little costly but the diner is downtown Martinez near the courts, jail Public Defender and DA office! Wish I could review the food but we didn't even get seated. My husband, toddler and I were waiting to be seated and we saw about 6 parties who came AFTER us, be seated before us. They came out and checked up on other party's, but not us. That's when I asked if we were still on the list? The family and I just LOVE this place. I'm the cook of the family and when I don't feel like cooking breakfast this is where we go (we drive down from Vallejo.) Always great service, always great food! They have the best coffee and the refills are free! The vibe when you walk is business as usual for a breakfast joint - but they've got a couple fun add ons. The "Jury Box" - we are in downtown Martinez, get it? They've got fun tile floors, a huge specials menu and a nice courtyard. Depending on how heavy you want to go on food the Benedict's are great as well as the hash with the potato sides. The menu is pretty standard, but the specials posted on the wall are anything but! The biscuits and gravy were incredible, and our friend got a waffle sandwich that he said was great - it was massive so more of a fork and knife sandwich than one you can pick up with your hands. My husband got a Bloody Mary with basically everything possible in it, including bacon. He gave that 5 stars. Notably there are basically no vegan options other than hash browns, which our vegan friend didn't realize until we got there. Just a warning in case anyone you'd like to go with is vegan. The restaurant closes around 2-3pm on the weekends, so we arrived there to have time eating at a casual speed. The interior was very cute and cozy. There was outside seating but most of the guests sat inside that day. As we were browsing through the menu we got ourselves a cup of coffee. The staff served the cup with a plate of cream cups. My past experiences with diners have been sour coffees, but the moment I took a sip of the coffee I knew Copper Skillet was going to be good; the coffee was not sour. In fact, I was able to drink it without adding cream. I ordered a hamburger and my relatives ordered sandwiches. We were able to customize the sides, so they chose fries and I decided on today's soup of the day. It was pea soup, and this was how I imagined pea soup to taste like. I liked the semi-smooth texture of the soup. I got to eat a share of my family's fries, and these were really good. They appeared to be thick cuts of zigzag fries, but the outside was crispy and the inside was fluffy. i was also very pleased with the hamburger too. Juicy and the grilled level of the patty was just right. The hamburger size was good for the afternoon hunger level. Copper skillet has been a restaurant in downtown martinez for ages. They are open for breakfast and lunch with a pretty extensive menu and weekly specials listed on a chalkboard. We were able to go to a late breakfast on Father's day for a party of 6 with only a 25 minute wait. Service was still amazingly prompt, efficient and friendly. Our server has been with copper skillet i believe she said over 20 years. The food came out fast and hot. It was all so delicious and amazing portion sizes. You can get a whole bottle of champagne with choice of juice for only $25 during brunch. We will definitely be back as next time I'm looking forward to trying food off the lunch menu. read more
