I want to love everything about this place. But I can't give it more than 3 stars. First: the Barcade- it's great, but you could end up waiting for hours just to get in. The selection of games is unprecedented, with many childhood throwbacks. The process of acquiring tokens is equally nostalgic but seems unnecessarily cumbersome. Why aren't there prizes to win? The food- generally good but not great value. I could have gotten a chocolate shake twice as big for the same price down the street. The grilled cheeses are delicious but not filling. Thankfully they have excellent burgers and chicken sandwiches. Everything was tasty but left me wanting more. The bun on the burger was a little soggy and reminded me of stop and shop brand. I've order from this place twice from Uber Eats and both times they brought the wrong order. However in both situations it wasn't the Uber Eats drivers fault. I'm a Brazilian teacher. I flew to Boston to take part of a workshop. I was walking around with a friend, and we saw Roxy's Grilled Cheese. We decided to eat there. My friend and I waited in the line for a long time to get in. When we were about to get in, we found out that the line was only to people who wanted to play arcade. Ok. We ordered, sat, and ate. I decided to take a look at the arcade room. I didn't want to play or so. Just wanted to take a look. Well, as I opened the arcade room's door, this small, bearded guy, chased me, saying that I couldn't cross the door. My friend, who speaks English better, tried to help me, explaining to this guy that everything was ok, that I just wanted to take a look etc. This guy was extremely rude, saying "shhh" to my friend, as if he was a child or a dog. He and the other guy who was organizing the line (wearing an octupus hat) removed us from the local. This other guy, who saw us in the line, instead of being reasonable, preferred to give cynical answers to us. Everything could be solved through a simple, civilized talk. These guys need to learn how to deal with people. It was a very bad and frustrating experience. read more

I was walking in the area while hungry and decided to give this place a try since you can't go wrong with grilled cheese. While they do sell burgers and other items, I ordered the three cheese grilled cheese. For $6 I had plenty of food to fill me up before continuing to run some errands in the area. I haven't had such a crazy delicious veggie dog since having a "Pukka dog" in Kawai'i. Walking over here I said to my husband, "I'm thinking of those Pukka dogs." The fried chicken sandwich is super good. This is my second time here and the first time I got the short rib grilled cheese, which was way too heavy, but the chicken sandwich was perfect. Let me start out by saying I love this place and I come here all the time but this particular Roxy's (Mass Ave) has been getting worse and worse sense it opened. I came here on 2/27/18 and ordered a pimento grill cheese with bacon and side of tomato soup. They changed their bread to a french bread style bread which is not what grill cheese is supposed to be on. The bread would have been tolerable if there had actually been any pimento on my sandwich and more than just one piece of bacon. I also got a side of tomato soup which was ice cold. To top it off my order came to 13 dollars... and it has never been more then than 11. Again, the price increase also would have been tolerable if my order came out right and wasn't cold. Not sure what I paid 13 dollars for but what a rip off. read more

I have to say that I was extremely disappointed entering this establishment. As soon as we walked in, we were completely ignored by the front of the house staff. We weren't greeted and received dirty looks from the girls in the front. After we finally ordered we waited for an extended period of time only for the food to burnt and inedible. We had also ordered the lemonade which was over filled and put in a dirty cup. The lemonade station was dirty and the counter area unclean. While waiting we asked for the lemonade and was met with a poor attitude and rolling of eyes. I have to say this is very different from my experience at the food truck in the financial district. I would highly advise that mgmt better trains the staff in customer service techniques. Next time I'll just avoid it all by going next door to Flour, where I know I will be treated well. read more

Got a vegan grilled cheese and it was pretty good, but the fig sauce that came with it was overpowering and made the sandwich too sweet. Other than that, however, the quality of food was top notch and the service fast. I definitely want to check this place out again to try something different! I've been meaning to try this place since it was first pointed out to me months ago! When you first walk in, you wouldn't realize that there's an ARCADE behind it. The exterior is pretty unassuming, classic diner-esque and then you go in through the back and are transported to your childhood. There's fun music playing, different classic movies on the screens and tons of games to stay amused all night long. I was pleasantly surprised to see how busy it was on a Tuesday night, but still run very well. I ordered the classic Three-Cheese Melt and truffle fries and while I skipped over a beer this time, there was an extensive list of lagers for sale. The grilled cheese was delicious! The bread is amazingly crunchy and flavor and contrasts very well with the cheese. I wish it had been delivered slightly quicker because I did feel as though the sandwich was a little room temperature and the cheese wasn't as gooey as I would have preferred. The truffle fries were slightly disappointing - cold and kind of stale. I would definitely come back for the grilled cheese but would skip over the fries. The frappes looked really good too and nothing beats a grilled cheese with a chocolate shake. Overall, really pleased with the ambience of the place and the sandwich I got!
