Even though I know Roy Rogers is a chain and quite possibly not the best chain out there, it is a unique chain. What sets them apart from the other chains is the fixings bar and the type of sides they offer. Those two things usually make for a stop here to be however you make it. With them having a fixings bar it is usually a quick preparation of your food and you are then on your own. I ordered a burger and since you are not stuck with the tradition sides here, I opted for mashed potatoes and mac n cheese. Definitely not what you usually expect as sides for a burger and it looked much like I was a toddler with my meal, but it is what I wanted at that moment. With my food prepared I was on my way to the fixing bar to top it the way I wanted it. Lettuce, onion, pickle. Grabbed some ketchup, mustard, and mayo. Then I was off to the table to enjoy my meal. The burger patty was one of those flower shaped patties that Roy Rogers has been known for. Decently seasoned, and cooked the usual way. I know the mash and mac n cheese are nothing high end, but I got what I wanted and was pleasantly surprised by my last minute choice to come here. read more

Stopped in for lunch. Had to wait for the menu board to switch from breakfast to lunch menu. Lot of other diners had the same idea. Got my sandwich combo fresh and hot and headed to the fixins bar. My food was hot and delicious. Counter staff was excellent as always. read more

I love Roy Rogers chain and with few exceptions I always have above average service. To was no exception. I ordered through the drive-thru they ask the right questions. And were more polite than your normal experience you would typically find at a normal fast food chain. My order hot and correct plus it came out in decent time. I really couldn't ask for more. I have no problem stopping here again. read more

Stopped here for the second time and this time it was more like we would expect from fast food. The service was still good, but this time it was much busier. The food was served warm, not hot, and the fries were a bit on the limp side instead of hot and crispy. Still better than any Popeye's I've been to. read more

Fantastic experience!! Great customer service upon entry, clean dining room, fresh table flowers, fresh fixings, clean condiment area, clean beverage area, plenty of seating. And then there was the food. Oohh My Gawd, we ordered a 2 Piece White and a 2 Piece Dark. Both Meals, salad, Fries and biscuits extremely fresh!! Best Roy Rogers I've ever visited. They also make Milkshakes from scratch!! Hubby ordered a Chocolate Milkshake. It was so good, he guzzled it down before I could get a picture. Trust me Yelpers, it was the business!! This place is a worse version of Arby's, kfc, and sonic all mashed together. Chicken tenders were over cooked and cold, roast beef was cold and mushy , the burger was just not desirable at all. I only made it through a couple bites and just took an L and threw the food away. Figured it was better suited for the landfill . Anyways, I don't want to just trash a place but I'd never waste my time in a Roy Roger's again , even if it was free. read more

While traveling from PA to VA, I stopped in Hagerstown for gas and came across this huge shopping area which had a Roy Rogers.  Not sure if you know, but if you eve find a Roy's, you MUST STOP IN as they have some of the BEST fast food.  They definitely have the BEST roast beef sandwich, which is made from real roast beef, not compressed pieces of beef. This place was not only very clean (restroom included), but they had a lobby hostess walking around to make sure everyone had what they needed and all items we filled.  The Fixins' Bar was beautifully stocked with amazingly clean and fresh veggies!  Service was very quick and with a smile.  The roast beef I got was outstanding and was prepared with great attention... Many times at a fast food joint, the crown and heel of a burger/sandwich aren't aligned properly and there's stuff hanging out of it, etc... Not here, this was PERFECT! The staff here clearly takes pride in their restaurant and rightly so, it's beautiful!  And they turn out an excellent product!  Lastly, they were packed at lunch time, something I'm always happy to see at a Roys, especially since there are very few of them left in the US and most are in this area now. I haven't been to a Roy Rogers in a while because there isn't one near where I live. I went on Monday right around 12:30 pm, in the middle of the noon-hour lunch rush. I went inside to eat as I had some time to kill, and there was a bit of a line as a bunch of firefighters arrived just before me. Anyway, the amount of time spent waiting in line to place my order was surprisingly short, and when I reached the point to place my order, a very friendly, efficient, and welcoming young lady with a terrific smile by the name of Lauren took my order and just made me feel very welcome. That made my day and I took note of her name because she was just so nice. Anyway, while I sat and ate my lunch, this other wonderful young lady came out from behind the counter and started cleaning up the dining area. And when I say she was cleaning up, I mean she went around the entire dining area wiping down surfaces, cleaned beneath the soda dispensers, threw some departed customers' trash away, cleaned their tables and seats, and generally seemed to be incredibly conscientious about doing her job well. Unfortunately, I did not get her name, otherwise, I would have called her out and commended her as well. All in all, a great experience, the food was good, and those two employees just really made my day. read more

I can't remember the last time I went to a Roy Rogers. They just don't have them where I am and that's a shame. The "fixings bar" is the business, for sure. I got a regular roast beef sandwich and loaded it up. Horseradish sauce, sure. But I also added four nice slices of tomato, lettuce and red onion. A few pickles on the side. Awwwww, yeah! I always stop at this Roys although there are two close proximity the other a short drive into the city. So far I have no complaints. I usually get the jumbo roast beef combo but today I tried the Spicy Chicken and ordered a beef to go. Beef good and chicken great, , but but make sure to ask for a free fixings cup . the spicy chicken was not dry which surprised me , and very fresh this was about 3:45 pm. YUM. the cashier did not ask me if I needed any sauces but I guess you have to ask for Mayo for the beef etc read more

Clean location, convenient on/off highway 81. I always try to stop at Roy Rogers when one is near, their fried chicken and roast beef sandwiches are the best! This is a great location with a large dining room and very popular drive through. It's always nice to have good fast food convenient to the highway. This will become a regular stop for me when I am in the area, there aren't many Roy Rogers in New Jersey anymore, which is a tragedy. read more

Was passing through Hagerstown Sunday after a 4 day ride on the C&O Canal trail with friends. We decided to stop at Roy's at the Valley Mall and ordered a cheeseburger, some roast beef sandwiches and some awesome strawberry shortcakes - for dessert, yum! Food was fresh, fast and delicious and the restaurant was clean throughout. About halfway through our meal the Roy's team came over and asked us if we'd lost anything. I had $300 rolled in my sock which had fallen out in the parking lot by our truck full of bikes. They found it and tracked it back to us! The Roy's team delivered great food and really demonstrated their philosophy and values of respect, honesty and community. I couldn't have asked for anything more and this experience made for a great end to my vacation. read more

We just had the best meal at this restaurant!! All the food was hot. Fries were lightly salted (other RR's usually have little to no salt). Chocolate shakes were awesome too. Food was good as always but it appears as though their current staff roster was recruited direct from the MVA. Shannon waited on us and was so cold & unwelcoming that I had to check for frostbite. Thank God we keep a bag of condiments in the car for roadtrips because you would have thought us customers (several of us received the same crap treatment) asked for an organ donation and not a fixins cup & sauces. All of the staff looked almost as miserable as Shannon, even the manager who walked in from break. Don't know who peed in this motley crew's cheerios but they would all be better suited in jobs that don't require a personality or direct interaction with the public. read more

This is the best Roy Rodgers in the area! The staff is caring and clean they take pride in the way they present themselves .Been in other fast food and they looked like they rolled out of bed!The food is always fresh and the dining room is immaculate including the restroom.The fixin bar is fresh and well stocked!They have a dining room attendant that walks around and makes sure everything is as you expected. Stopped here on one of our roadtrips back to Western Pennsylvania. Just a totally normal fast food restaurant experience. The food is good. Tables are clean. Bathrooms are clean. Lots of parking. People working here are friendly. Free drink refills from the soda fountain. I enjoy Roy Rogers roast beef sandwiches so I will definitely be back when I am in Hagerstown. read more

The food tasted okay. Since I was paying double what I would have paid at Bojangle's or KFC, I expected them to get a simple double order correct. Yes, it's a chain but actually a pretty decent chain. One of the better chains that I have eaten at. The chicken sandwiches are pretty darn tasty and although this place is slightly more expensive than other chains, it's still a pretty good deal for your money. read more
