I went twice to this salon, the first visit on a Tuesday and booked with a gilt discount. I spent about $120 for a single process with blow dry which is always a separate cost now. Rosemarie did a great job and I was very happy with the results. I did follow up with a second visit on a Saturday and the salon was extremely busy. It seemed as if I was being rushed out and I did want to get a haircut but she was booked solid, good for them not for me. I spent about $200 for just a single process, left broke and opted not to go back. It is a nice spot with a lovely staff and Rosemarie is great, it is just out of my price range :( read more

My review is both at first positive, but unfortunately, for my second visit, very negative. I went to see Anne Marie for a gray transitioning, in February. I was thrilled with the results, the salon and staff were very warm and friendly and I was so happy to leave without worrying about the slow process of growing out my gray roots naturally for the next 3 years. I even purchased the products they use and followed their advice on how to condition my hair and wash it. After about 2-3 shampoos later, my hair washed out completely back to normal, as if I had never had the highlights, low lights and toners in it at all. I spent a small fortune on this service and was so upset. I sent Anne Marie photos of what happened to my hair and she blamed it on my hard water. She sent me a toner and I added it to my hair but it just never looked the way it should have. She kindly offered to redo my hair at no charge so I took her up on her offer. This past weekend was my appointment for a scheduled redo. In the weeks leading up to my second visit, my cousin, (who is a hairdresser) informed me that dying hair gray is next to impossible and I wasted my money, (as I already found out). She suggested to try using a clarifying shampoo to get rid of product buildup before returning to get my redo. When Anne Marie saw my hair she started to yell at me in front of the staff and other clients because I used a clarifying shampoo (only once, mind you). She saw my photos and knew what my hair looked like, so I didn't expect such harsh treatment and I was so mortified and humiliated by her reaction. Even her staff seemed uncomfortable around us. I sat and endured her remarks and in hindsight I should have left, but I was too stunned to think clearly. She only gave me some low-lights, toner and a haircut but I couldn't wait to get out of there. The results were just so/so and I do assume they'll wash out anyway, just as it did the last time. I spoke to the manager today and attempted to explain my dismay over how Anne Marie treated me. He was polite and said he'll speak to her but basically defended her. I won't be returning to Roy Teeluck salon and I advise women who want to transition to gray, please, save your money. It just doesn't seem to work. read more

I am a brand new client who moved to the east coast recently, and scheduled my appointment after researching DEEPLY on yelp/google and whatever I could find online. I met Kali who is an incredible lady and extremely skilled at her craft. I wanted to donate my hair, and needed some DRASTIC change in my life. We chopped around 10-12 inches, and began from there. Raphael did my shampoo, and really did a great job without pulling or hurting my hair/scalp. It was soooooooo relaxing I just wanted to sit there for all eternity. Then after the shampoo, I went over to Kali's station and we got started with layering and cutting my hair according to the 'french/professional yet casual and easy to maintain" hairstyle I wanted to go for. She did such a phenomenal job, not only cutting my hair - but listening to exactly what I wanted to do when I first came in and understand the look I was trying to achieve. We even talked my hair texture, and how it is VERY THICK and hard to manage as well as color possibilities and planned for a balayage/coloring soon even though my hair is naturally jet black. I have more than enough trust in her! I really am so pleased with the service and wonderful experience I received at Roy Teeluck Salon, and definitely a huge huge thank you to everyone who was around to help me through this huge transformation in my life. Guy-Laurent is amazing! It was my second time into Roy Teeluck salon and I can not be more happy. Great experience starting from the time I walked in to the time I left. As I entered the salon, a woman offered me a beverage and checked my coat in. The shampoo was lovely as well. I showed Guy-Laurent a photo of how exactly I wanted my haircut and he exceeded my expectations with the cut & style. Before I start my review, I want to say that I saw Sandra for color, and Tim for a blow dry. Both were fantastic. I went to the Roy Teeluck Salon about two weeks ago on a whim- I was speaking with my boss that day and decided that I was sick of being blonde and ready to go brunette. Now, I have been blonde for about two years, except for the time about 10 months ago when I decided I wanted to be brunette and did it myself from a box- it turned out terribly. After work, I walked over to Roy Teeluck, and I was beginning to lose my nerve- I was very nervous that my hair was going to look as terrible as when I did it myself, and that, although it is my natural hair color, I do not make a good brunette. The salon itself is gorgeous, and every single person I spoke to was helpful and sweet. By the time I sat down at my colorist's station, I had been offered coffee, tea, water, and wine by at least three different people- but not in an annoying way, just because everyone was very thoughtful. When Sandra came over, I was VERY nervous. I love being a blonde, and this was going to be a huge change. I came very unprepared, and stupidly didn't even bring a picture of what I wanted done to my hair. I gave Sandra a strange verbal description of what i wanted, and leafed through a Vogue that was laying by my station, showing her what I wanted- although I don't think any of the models I showed her actually had the same hair color! haha. I know it is pathetic, but at this point I was shaking with nervousness because I was convinced I would look terrible, and I was already sitting in the salon, too late to turn back. Luckily for me, Sandra is AWESOME. She noticed my nervousness and told me I had nothing to worry about- she even told me it was normal to be nervous, even though I was definitely freaking out more than a normal person should. haha. She looked at me and listened to what I wanted, and went off to mix color. Any time I have gone from blonde to brunette, the colorist has simply applied the color right over my blonde. Sandra did not do that- she did some initial process to my hair that stripped it of the blonde- but it was completely non-damaging- and then applied the color to what she called my fresh canvas of hair. The color came out amazing, and now I don't know if I ever want to go back to blonde again. It is rich and layered, and not flat or boring (as I feared it would be) at all. Sandra listened to me, told me what she thought would look good, and then made my hair look gorgeous while calming me down from my crazy-nervous state. I don't think I could ask for anything else from a stylist. I then got a blow dry by Tim. I have very, very thick and curly hair that I always wear straight. Some stylists have not been able to deal with my hair because it is so crazy. Tim was very gentle with my hair, and did not use a straight iron at all- which is something that separates a good blow out from a bad one. He made my hair silky and smooth, with just the right amount of waves and body. While he was finishing up, Sandra cam over to inspect my color and make sure I liked it. I think it is also important to point out that this was at 10pm at night, and I was the last person in the salon- and both Sandra and Tim were extremely patient with me. Overall, I had a really great experience at Roy Teeluck, and I would certainly recommend both Sandra and Tim. In fact, I will probably be going back there for a cut very soon. read more

I went to RT Salon this week for a cut and color...Here are the high's and low's... Salon Overall - a little too frenzied for me; colorist, assistants, clients, running around everywhere made it feel more like a subway station than a high end salon; receptionist extremely bitchy but everyone else (including RT himself) were very friendly and not at all Madison Avenue snooty Color with Abby - just so so; I went in expecting miracles but she was just average. I told her specifically I didn't want STREAKS of color and that the most important thing was to keep it subtle. Well, I think I'm not fluent in 'colorist speak' because whille I did get beautiful color, it was streaky. My husband said I look 'very jersey' .... I paid $200 to look 'jersey' Awesome Cut with Aly - FABULOUS cut; he is quick but pays attention to detail; he cares deeply about the end product; and if it helps anyone at all, he's VERY easy to look at, right down to his tight Euro fit jeans, and trendy snakeskin shoes....Turkish accent doesn't hurt :) So overall, I will go back to Aly but not to Abby. My hair has always been my #1 asset. However, last week it came time to kiss the dry ends goodbye and say hello to a haircut that works in the New York City summer heat. I made an appointment with Antoine one day before going to the Tony awards, hoping that his positive Yelp reviews were true, and that he would work miracles on my hair too. I kid you not when I say that Antoine is a styling GOD. When I arrived at the Roy Teeluck Salon, I was greeted by the friendly receptionist, had my coat and bag checked, was offered my choice of many nice beverages, and within two minutes was met by the caring and delightful Antoine. He asked me what kind of haircut I was looking for, what I did not want, and then gave me a couple of options to choose from. From there I was taken to get a shampoo and a scalp massage, which was an amazing and welcome change from the salons who always try to rush these pamper steps. I found Antoine to be very precise yet efficient. My haircut took about an hour (cut plus blow-out and styling). Our conversation was great--he was interesting, worldly, and very funny. I very much appreciated his checking in during the haircut; for instance, he would ask if I wanted to go even shorter or if wanted more layers or if I wanted my cut to frame my face. It was nice to be able to have so much say in the process. It's been three days since my cut and I am receiving more compliments than ever before. I rarely spend more than $50 dollars on a cut, so it was a little expensive; however, it is the best haircut I've ever had and worth every penny (my cut without tip was $115). I asked that she keep as much length as possible while giving me some shape and interest. I swear my hair looked longer after I left than before in went in. Was recommended to use Antoine. Thought it was a lot more than I normally pay for a haircut but then saw the gilt city promotion. Got my hair cut for $80. When I went in, I was taken care of right away. They offered me a drink (water, iced tea, cappuccino, etc.). The hair wash was just OK. But I thought Antoine was very good. He listened to what I wanted, gave me his honest opinion, and did a great job with my hair. The only thing I am hesitant on is the price. Haircut was great - but not sure if it is $125 great yet. I had a wonderful experience getting a balayage treatment done to my hair, by the one and only Nancy Braun herself! Nancy was very professional and courteous from the time I walked in the door, and really listened to me when I told her what I was looking for. My hair hadn't been colored in a while, and I desperately needed to freshen up the color, and blend in the old ombre that was going on near the ends. I really wanted beautiful, natural blonde and that is exactly what I got. Unlike traditional highlights, balayage seamlessly blends with your hair color so that there aren't any unsightly roots once your hair starts to grow. I will definitely do another session with Nancy or one of the other balayage stylists in the future! read more

I'm iffy about going back to this salon. Even though I had a god haircut with Carrie (whom I met at her previous salon), I'm not happy with the customer service so far. They had advertised that they were running a 20% special for Monday appointments. When I called to make an appointment for a Monday in August, they told me that the promo wasn't happening during the summer. Ouch!! Why didn't they mention that in their announcement?? This threw my plans off course. When I called to find out when the promo would be back, Jeannette said she would call me by end of day with a answer. Never heard back from her. I'm VERY particular about my hair, since it's fine and color-processed. I went to Roy Teeluck last night based on my friend's rave recommendation and I couldn't be happier with my decision! I saw Russ for color and Dora for my cut, and both did a fantastic job. Did I mention that Roy himself came by to say hi and made sure I was being taken care of? Amazing. Russ seemed super nice and humble (as you know, a lot of colorists/stylists can be snobbish), and he was conservative in terms of not wanting my hair to go brassy or be unnatural/damaged, which I really appreciated. The color and highlights turned out great and I will be back in a month to touch it up. Dora did an amazing job with my haircut, as I decided to cut my 8 years of long hair to a pseudo-bob. I have never cut more than 2.5 inches, but I trusted Dora to give me a transformation. :) There goes 6 inches of my hair and I love it! To begin: I have never had a hair stylist and was never dedicated to just one salon. I don't ever stick to the regular timeline of going back to get touchups for highlights and tend to just use sun-in to get the blonde look that I've had for 7 years. And additionally- I cut my own curly hair. (No one notices anyways!) I decided to then just go on Yelp to find someone who could update my hair with real color (and not sun in,) who was available asap and had great reviews. I found Roy Teeluck's salon at 10am, called, and was able to book an appointment for 330 that day! I thought my luck would only end there, but it got better. I got to the appointment, and the receptionist, Keith, was a doll! They took my coat and offered me a drink- I grabbed a glass of wine. Russ was my colorist. He immediately clicked with me AND my hair and knew exactly what he wanted to do. My hair was a hot mess, rather, I'll be honest and say that it was just a MESS with multiple colors of blonde and natural browns but he created a gorgeous, natural looking head of blonde with and I'm in love with it. I also was able to grab a complimentary manicure and 20% off for finding them on Yelp. Edith was my manicurist and she was adorable. She spent alot of time making sure that my nail beds were clean cut and that my nails stayed their round-ish shape. The whole time she was dong my nails and Russ was doing my hair- I felt like I was in girl-heaven. I've never pampered myself like this before, so I figured I might as well continue it and get my curls blown out and see what the color really looked like. Enzo did the blow out and I can already tell the curl at the bottom will stay for days until I wash it again. I have really thick hair, but he took his time and made sure that each part that he blew out was small enough so that it got enough love. I'm definitely going to go back for touchups and will get a cut next time around as well. The only qualm I had was that there were so many people who worked on me/waited on me and required tips- even down to the coat check girl. But, to get a look like a celebrity I guess you require a team of people waiting on you like celebrities do- and sometimes, I don't mind paying for that treatment :) In case it helps anyone: I spent $197 on my hair and an additional $87 in tips. read more

This is my second time to see Abby Haliti and Ali Ozel at Roy Teeluck, and I am just as blown-away by their artistry as before. It is really awesome that Abby & Ali work very well together. They collaborate the cut with the color (or vice-versa), so that when your hair is done, it's the joint effort of two minds working in harmony for a single, beautiful masterpiece. Unlike other places I've been, I did not feel like I received different/lesser treatment when using the discount, and the entire staff was fantastic and so accommodating. For about year I was going to Roy Teeluck to have my recently grown out pixie hair, cut. I started with Dora who was amazing, but left on maternity leave. I then worked with Laurianne who was wonderful, but then she left town. Feeling frustrated with my stylist leaving, I started at another salon which came highly recommend. I worked with the salon owner for about a year, getting good cuts the whole time...Until I didn't. Until he took my chin length a-line bob and it turned it into a boxy shaved in the back mess. I cried for two days until I got my shiz together and headed back, head down in shame, to Roy Teeluck. I was paired with the incredibly talented and kind, Shab. After a quick consultation we decided that extensions wouldn't work (hair is too short) and we'd have to try to fix it. She tried. Valiantly. Roy himself even came over to help, but it was too far gone. The hair was done. It had to go. So after taking a deep breath (and having a wonderful conversation with a shampoo gal/assistant) we cut it off. All off it. The pixie is back and I now have a plan to grow it back, gracefully. I can't thank Shab, Roy and the wonderful staff enough for their kindness. I know it's just hair, but I cried my eyes out in the salon (ugly cries people!) and they were amazing. It was like therapy. I now have a fabulous pixie cut and am looking forward to heading back to Shab in 6 weeks for a trim to keep the dreaded mullet away! read more

If you need color correction or just amazing color go see Blanche. I have been going to her for five years after she fixed my destroyed hair from a very bad coloring elsewhere - I mean really bad. We continued to work on it as it's a process and I have been so thrilled! Blanche actually listens to you and is meticulous with every stand of hair. She has probably 30 years of experience with some famous clients too. She remembers everything you like and don't like about your hair from one appointment to the next, she is a true artist!. I am always happy with my results! They use Wella color there and I think they may use other coloring there too. The girls who wash your hair are very sweet. They are not open on Sundays. The woman who checks you out is awkward and can be rude, don't let her deter you, but that's the only downfall of the salon, every time I leave I have to deal with the rude woman (with long brown hair) at the front desk. I purchased a Gilt voucher for balayage with a junior stylist at Roy Teeluck. My stylist, Rosemary, did an incredible job with my quite dark, thick and difficult to highlight hair! The entire experience was excellent! When I arrived, they offered me wine/tea/coffee, which was a nice touch. Everyone was incredibly friendly - not like the vibe at some other salons. I showed Rosemary some photos of what I wanted and she did a great job executing the style and creating this beautiful chestnut color. She was so careful and took her time to get it perfect. She also blew out my hair and created these amazing beach waves - all with a blow dryer and round brush. I'm so happy and would trust her with my colors any day! Thanks, Rosemary! read more

I've been frequenting Roy Teeluck for years- my favourite stylist left to Vermont unfortunately. Today I had an appointment with Eddie and wow he's so creative and artistic. Practically laser cut each strand separately. I don't recognize myself- I often regret cutting my long locks but this time I was thinking why did I hesitate and not do this sooner- took ten years off my face - it Was a superb seven star experience if there's a Michelin star for hair styles this salon and its staff should receive it. I don't usually write reviews but I felt a genuine connection and the whole staff was friendly and unpretentious and most importantly don't push coloring or products on you. It's not a franchise it's a high end salon that gives high end hairstyles. Highly recommended and oh genuinely French not :) read more

I've been going to Roy Teeluck for years and it's an amazing experience! I see Kali for cut, color, Brazilian blow out... you name it! She always delivers exactly what I ask for (sometimes better!) and is a true balayage artist. I cut my hair super short about a year ago, and she did an amazing job framing my face and advising me on the right length. Their staff is super friendly and the atmosphere is lively and inviting. Only saving grace about this salon is the excellent customer service and Russ, who semi saved the color of my hair. Otherwise, I had 2 corrections here and I still did not get what I wanted. Their "senior" colorist ruined my hair. I went in blond and asked for touch up on my base color and highlights, I specified exactly what I wanted since I'm extremely picky and exact about what I want. I told her go LIGHTER or keep my same color... what did she do? She made me a BRUNETTE!!!! WTF? When I see that I'm brunette I'm pretty upset... however I was thinking maybe its just me since I'm very picky... well it wasn't just me being anal about my hair. My boss at work, A STRAIGHT MAN, goes "oh you went darker"... when I heard this, I was livid. I called the salon, told them about how upset I was and Keith, the manager, who's extremely awesome and helpful, said to come in for a correction and this time he would make sure another senior colorist was also there to work on my hair. How did the correction go? Well... my hair was spotty, ashy and ORANGE. At this point I'm effin pissed... I do not let anyone fuck with my hair this badly. And since this was the 2nd time it had been chemically processed in the span of just several days, I'm also really concerned about the health of my hair. I'm a natural black haired girl and I've been going blond for several years now, I take great care of my hair and never NEVER has any of my hair broken to the coloring. Well you know what? After what this place this to my hair, it broke. I once again called Keith and at this point I really did not want to return to the salon for another "correction" I suggested that I wanted them to pay for my correction at a salon that I knew and trusted. Keith said Roy would not agree to that and that this time they had someone who "specializes" in what I wanted to achieve, Russ. I went back a 3rd time. Russ "the specialist" did an excellent job in salvaging what he could. My hair is extremely weak, damaged, and broken in several areas but he was able to bring my color back to a blond. Is this what I wanted? ABSOLUTELY NOT. Should they have given me Russ when I had gone in my 2nd time for the correction HELL YEA. Is this place worth the money? From what I got... HEEELLLL NO! I will give them this, they do amazing hair cuts and have great customer service, if they can manage to squeeze in some more talented colorist, they would have a top notch salon. read more
