Let me start by saying I don't fuss over that much regarding my beauty routine, but a good haircut is one thing that I care about. Brad has been my hairstylist for many years. He is friendly, highly-detailed, and a good listener. He makes the process of sitting in a chair talking with a complete stranger for an hour feel relaxed and comfortable. Brad has a natural talent. He can do very edgy cuts or your more standard, long cuts and they all come out beautiful! I started going to Brad when I lived in California. After having him cut my hair once, I knew I never wanted to go to another hairstylist again -- I'm not exaggerating. I often feel like I leave even the best salons feeling "meh" about my haircut. Perhaps this is my fault for not explaining what I wanted. Perhaps I never really knew what I wanted. That is not the case after going to Brad. He managed to just "get it". I always end up with a haircut that is easy to manage and shaped well for my face. After leaving the salon, I regularly receive compliments from people I don't know, which you know is a good sign. I ended up moving to NYC many years ago, which meant I would have to find another hairstylist. Well, after a couple pricey, mediocre haircuts at high-end salons, I decided I would just wait until I planned trips back to CA to see family to get my hair cut. This tested my patience, but was ultimately worth it to know I would leave the salon happy. Then Brad moved to NYC and all of the painful months of waiting for a good haircut were over. Lucky for me this lady has a serious pedigree in hair...At least 25 years and counting! She's also very quick so you don't spend all day in the salon. Janet is absolutely one of the best hairstylists that there has ever been. She's got phenomenal pedigree, with very senior positions at Vidal Sassoon and John Barrett, and a career that has taken her all over the world. She's done lots of work for magazines and runway shows, and has had some pretty famous clients. No joke - every single haircut I've gotten from her has been great, and I've never heard anyone coming in or out say anything negative about the work she's done. She's basically perfect. On top of that, she's super nice, and the salon is comfortable, relaxing and totally non-stuffy. I think her clientele is mostly women, but she's fantastic at cutting guys' hair, as well. She's also got a stylist working there named Sarah, who trained at Janet's side for years. I've already heard great things about her. I used to go to Chinatown and get my hair cut for as cheap as I possibly could and then eat for as cheap as I possibly could-- then I moved to BK and got my hair cut by those guys on 7th ave... they're more knowledgeable about the yankees than Janet, but artistes they are not. I still do that food-wise but after Janet did her do on me.. I'm stuck in the high end hair trade because the results are such that I can't just go back and have my hair barbered. Without fail people comment on my hair afterward. I sent a picture to my mom of me and a friend at an event this winter in which I'd just taken off my hat and my mom wrote back, 'nice haircut.' I am writing because I just pressured my work associate to go and we scheduled back to back appointments-- and her hair is now perfect for her- I specify 'for her,' because Janet seems to have a knack for figuring out what to do for a particular face or situation and making somebody look as good as they possibly can be. I followed Carla Snow, hair stylist extraordinaire, to Janet Waddell and am in love with the studio. The team (and they really do seem to be a team) is so welcoming. The studio is light, airy, and spacious, despite being below ground. I can't recommend Carla enough...I have moved away from NYC and push off getting my hair cut until I can get back to the city. Carla is EXCELLENT at listening to what you want, but also good at making suggestions. Better yet, her work always earns me compliments after an appointment. Thea has been styling my hair for years now, starting at Vidal Sassoon where she saved me from a bad haircut I'd gotten with someone else. She fixed a bad cut for me and is working to help me achieve the look I want as my hair grows out. Just had my hair cut there by Carla Snow. I must tell you that I am a very picky client, and I don't let just anybody cut my hair. Carla can cut my hair anytime! Not only is she incredibly sweet, she seems to have an understanding of hair that not many hairdressers do - she's very precise and knows how your hair will fall into place, and she cuts it with this in mind. I've been to cheap $10 stylists and I've been to high-end $200 stylists around the world, and I have to say, it's rare to find someone like Janet. She still takes the time to sit down and have a face-to-face conversation about your hair, your lifestyle, your wishes. Even if you're not sure what kind of style you want, she seems to know immediately what will work for your face, hair type, and styling needs. You can tell she has many years of experience from her calm, precise handling of your hair, though you'd never guess from her friendly, down-to-earth demeanor that she's really in the top of the hair and fashion industry. The other stylists in the salon seem very nice and professional, too. No one tried to push products on me, though Janet does have her own product line. If you're sick and tired (like me) of stylists who ignore your input and arrogantly impose their "artistic vision" on your head no matter how much you protest, do give this salon a try. This is a great salon. Clean, simple, good energy. I just moved to town and it's always scary finding a new stylist. I have an irregular wave to my hair, and this town has made it frizzier than ever before. A musician friend recommended Bradley Rosen and I've never been happier. Not only did he understand my hair's texture and that I like to wear it both curly and straight, but he also listened when I asked to keep my long length AND did a great job shaping it to my face. I've been contemplating this particular haircut on and off for years and finally decided to pull the trigger. Brad spent 2 meticulous hours sculpting a dramatic undercut with partial mohawk, adapting very carefully to some *ahem* missteps I had made on my own. I couldn't possibly be happier and have received so many sincere, astonished compliments. I only gave them a star because i have to put one other wise they don't even deserve a star. I went there and greeted with a stylist which and was pleasant in the beginning. However after my shampoo she was showing me all these pictures while I was trying to explain what I wanted for a Hair Cut. and everytime I kept wondering what is she doing she would go into a different subject. THIS WOMAN DOES NOT LISTEN. then she started to be defensive when I questioned what was she doing. I wanted a simple hair cut and she wanted to give me an interesting one that matched hair style. Decided to try this place in finding a place to style my hair and this was one of the worstest styling appointments I ever had. Though I can't complain since the value of the styling I got is what I should be getting but what was up with the stylist who I know is an apprentice in training "man-handling of my hair" briskly swooshing my hair back and forth and getting hair and water into my eyes! In addition I don't know whats the health department rules in keeping pets at a business establishment unless its a service pet but you think that the owner would wash her hands after touching and carrying dogs then deciding to look through my hair running her hands through it! On top of that there was attitude go with it as well... I didn't think I was being rude to anyone there(?). The hair styled was not even impressive. Needless to say I couldn't go ahead with my plans for the day after my hair looked shitty as well as unhygienic. First time customer and last time as well. read more

Brad is by far the best hairdresser I've ever had. I went in with a massively thick, long mane that I hadn't really done anything with in close to a decade, and he sculpted a hip, beautiful, super low-maintenance cut for me (see photo!) that I get constant compliments on, even after it's grown out for months. He's incredibly warm and personable, so I truly look forward to our haircut-conversations.
