Came here with my family, and we loved a bunch of the goods. Zaatar was a hit, and so were the others closer to the register. I forget the names of them, but they were also very nice to give out samples to get an idea of flavor. Great spot. Owner explained that she recently took ownership and kept the baker staff. I've had some good bakery items from this business but do not buy a Tiramisu cake from here. "Tiramisu is a coffee-flavoured Italian dessert. It is made of ladyfingers dipped in coffee, layered with a whipped mixture of eggs, sugar, and mascarpone cheese, flavoured with cocoa." This "tiramisu" is whipped cream and cocoa powder with lady fingers. This is NOT tiramisu. This cake is inedible, cheap, and going straight into the trash. No mascarpone to be found. Just went to Royal Bakery for the first time after discovering it on Yelp. My Turkish husband was feeling homesick and hasn't had authentic Turkish eats in forever, so we hopped in the car and went immediately. I walked in and probably went a little crazy ("Four of THESE, one of THAT, two of THOSE, don't know what that is but I'll take two, please!") Standouts: -plain simit- excellent and fresh, crusty seeded outside, chewy and soft inside, exactly how you want your simit to be -kaymak- I have looked high and low for kaymak in LA and thrilled to have found it here! For those who don't know: kaymak is clotted cream. It isn't popular in America but very big in Turkey and also England, actually. I read a few reviews here that said it was like cheese w no flavor. It isn't cheese, so don't expect it to taste like cheese! It's like butter but in cream form. Get it with bal (aka honey). Spread the kaymak on your simit- drizzle with honey- it's the only way IMO! -burek- baked cheesey dough. It's noodley, it's cheesey, it's buttery. Nothing not to love! Their burek was excellent. -baklava- it's hard to find a good one in LA. This baklava is great, a total winner. We only got the pistachio, did not try the walnut. Personally would not repurchase: -simit stuff with pastirma (meat) and cheese- the meat inside (pastirma) is kindof like a salami or soppressata texture but it is beef, not pork. It is naturally a very salty meat, I had never tasted it before. It was a bit too salty for my personal liking, however my husband loved it. So if you like cheese and salty meat, this is for you! A woman (I think the owner?) was very sweet and helpful. She gave our dog a cookie on the way out so our dog is now a fan, too. I saw so many positive things online but I wasn't prepared for my experience! First, I was greeted by Zara who was so friendly and helpful. The little shop was so clean and charming. But the food wow!!! Amazing! Their Borek was beyond delicious! We had all three types: meat, cheese and potato. We were surprised that as much as we loved all three, the potato was the stand out! I am so happy to find Royal Bakery! I have family in Turkey and have not been able to find or make Simit like the street food in Turkey, but now I have! A friend of my husband's bought us some from here when I had an accident and it was the perfect recovery gift. So today when we were in the Valley we stopped by to get some. Zara greeted us with a smile and I think I was a little excied. I bought a dozen. So what is Simit? It is a ring bread, covered in sesame. They soak it in a grape molasses before baking to make a ton of sesames stick. They are best fresh from the oven, but these are also great reheated in a toater oven. The flavor is amazing and a memory of my grandma. We also bought profiteroles which are similar to chocolate eclaires but better! Haven't tried them yet because waiting for our boys to get home. But they look delicious and I can wait to try them. We will definitely return a lot! read more

Came here on a whim and ordered the following: - Turkish coffee - Cheese achma (cheese pastry) - Oregano simit (long circular savory pastry with oregano inside) - 3 random cookies The Turkish coffee was small, a bit grainy, and strong. The size was slightly bigger than an espresso cup. My boyfriend and I never had anything like the oregano simit. It's not sweet nor bland. You just gotta try it. The cookies were all sweet but not overly sweet. We had the raspberry filled cookie, chocolate dipped cookie, and a sesame cookie with a hint of tahini inside.
