Steffi Gutierrez and Charles Cherentine the previous owners/ bakers left last year for South Korea, the current hot scene for pastries. Taking over is their lead baker. Nothing has changed, in fact I think the pastries are better if that's even possible. The kouign amann is spectacular, both the plain and apple topped. Just like you'll find in Rennes. The laminated dough is classically prepared. The caramelized sugar encases the bottom of the pastry like a thin sheet of sweet glass. It's firm, not syrupy and not sticky. The guava and cheese danishes are also memorable. Their classic croissant and baguettes are like those found in Paris. They have a large interesting selection of baked goods. They also have very good coffee. I ordered and paid on line a day ahead and picked it up early the next morning. If you want to make sure of availability arrive around 7 am or order ahead. Today was my first time at Breadologie... I brought my family along with me for the trip. As it was our first time, to our surprise it caught our attention being located on the corner of a small shopping center with yellow paint and a green sign When we walked in, we saw the shop full, but the line was moving quickly which was awesome because I brought my family here on an empty stomach lol. The kind young lady who took our order was so kind and patient to answer our questions. Below we ordered a few croissants and a coffee... the pistachio, almond, and pretzel croissant were all so soft, delicious, and had somewhat of a crunch to them too. I also ordered a Horchata Latte which was perfectly cinnamon-y with a creamy coffee flavor. The croissants were literally perfect and fresh. It is wonderful to have a mom and pop local bakery, that is accessible, for quick in and out purchases. A prominent business in this regard is, Breadologie, in Granada Hills. On their open days, their hours are 7 am to 2 pm, if you are in the mood for French and other breakfast fare. I have to say also that, if you are looking for small quiches (which are more than substantial for one person), they have the best selection anywhere, in this or adjoining vicinities. My favorite has always been, the bacon quiche and that is what I picked up to go this time too (they have several other choices). This preparation of theirs, has the right balance of ingredients, eggs and milk, and the crust, to harmonize in the oven to culminate in the eye catching finished product. The top is optimally browned to give you the taste that your eyes desire. Most of all, it is not dry inside. Instead, moist, fluffy and silky to the tongue, during the eating process. Also selected a chocolate croissant to add to my bag. There a variety of other types of breads, croissants, danishes, eclairs and other baked goods that are also available here. The selections here though limited, are different in scope, variety and presentation, that you will not find at another morning bakery. I've sworn off sweets for a bit, but that doesn't keep me from coming in to buy goodies for friends and relish in the smell of fresh baked treats, so I popped into Breadologie when I needed a gift this week. So much selection, I don't know how people decide on ONE ITEM! Luckily for me, I was in search of blueberries as a "something blue" for newly wed friends. Two blueberry danish left and I snagged 'em! I'm a bit disappointed in what Breadologie has become. While waiting, I was speaking to another customer who said the place is under new ownership from earlier this year and we both hoped the food didn't change. Sadly it seems like it did. The Vietnamese coffee was nowhere near a "Vietnamese coffee". This was just a coffee with cream. No strong coffee or sweet flavors, it wasn't even sweet to begin with. For pastries I tried the Onion bacon cheese and plain Croissant. Both were just okay. The onion bacon cheese wasn't very cheesy and didn't have enough bacon to really get a good flavor in each bite. Overall it was pretty empty. The plain croissant was oaky, a tad dry and overbaked, and definitely not enough butter . read more

I've had the croissants from here a few times before and they've always been SO delicious. I don't go often because they're decadent but when I go they're a real treat. So I was so disappointed today to get some croissants that were very old and past their prime. The croissants were so dry and hard, they were almost inedible. If I was going to go straight home, I may have tried to warn them to see if they would soften some. But we had to just eat them as is. It's such a bummer because these are some of the best croissants that I've had before. Mind you we came at 1:00. They didn't not taste like they were just old from the morning, but that they were at least a day old. Hey I get it. I wouldn't want those to go to waste. But if you know your product isn't fresh, maybe sell it at a discount. This will not stop be from going back. But I will definitely ask before I purchase them to make sure that they're fresh. read more

Not the same quality of pastries at all because it changed ownership! Last time I went there I was very disappointed by them, they sold me some pastries of days old and still charged me the full price which is ridiculously expensive! We stopped by this cozy spot and enjoyed sitting at the outdoor chairs. The food was mostly a win, but one drink was a miss for us. We ordered the Spinach Pita and the Chocolate Croissant, both were really good! My husband had the Bacon Quiche and loved it, especially noting the big, hearty chunks of bacon. For drinks, we tried the Macadamia Chocolate Latte and the Dry Chai. Unfortunately, the Macadamia Chocolate Latte was overwhelmingly chocolaty for my taste, so much so that I had to swap with my husband. His Dry Chai was much more to my liking. I'm so happy I found this hidden gem! Any time I pass by this there is always people. I decided to finally try it and as soon as you walk in the staff is extremely friendly and very attentive. I went ahead and tried their pistachio croissant, almond croissant, chocolate croissant, cherry tart, and also the passionfruit tart. This is hands-down the best croissants I've ever had. When I came home, I've looked up their bakery, and to my surprise the owner is from France and you can definitely tell by the high-quality ingredients he uses. The bread is very delicate with an air texture. This bakery deserves 5 + stars! If you are ever in Granada Hills it's worth giving it a try! I will be definitely coming back! read more

I found out about this bakery from a local coffee shop who use to sell their creme brûlée donuts. The coffee shop has since closed down but i made sure to ask about the donuts and was directed to this bakery. Great and Fast service here. However it does get quite busy. Very mid bakery. Picked up an assorted box of pastries and some were better than others. The fruit danish was nice and fresh and was a good blend of sweet and tart. this is was probably the best pastry in the box. The chocolate croissant was really dry and flaky... I don't recommend this one at all. It tasted old and was a bit hard. The almond croissant was so caramelized that it was hard to chew. For espresso, I tried the caramel iced latte and it was basically caramel milk. read more

There are so many strange, overpriced new businesses on this street and even though this one isn't new it's very clear that they have departed from the quality of the original owners. This place has been hit and miss since the new ownership. More miss, I'd say. Bought some pastries and a couple of Matcha. Some of the pastries were good, the chocolate croissant was meh. For the matcha, they said they ran out of regular milk and asked if I'd be ok with almond or soy milk instead. I said almond milk is fine. Looked at my receipt and they charged me extra for the almond milk. Why would you charge me if the only reason I am getting it is because you ran out of my preferred milk option? And his response was....well, it cancels it out cause I forgot to charge you for the sweetener. Wait, you also charge extra for drink sweetener?!!! It's been way too long since I have updated my review and way too long since coming here. Since moving away from the valley 6+ years ago to Ventura County, it's not very often I am in the area but I am so glad I remembered to stop by last weekend on my way home! The layout was a bit different, with the array of desserts having now expanded and a refrigerated section too full of fresh quiches, eclairs, fruit filled pound cakes and more! I was a little sad that my favorite blood orange croissant was not there but was told it's seasonal. Also didn't see any cheese pockets so I hope they still make them - I forgot to ask! I picked up 4 items and my two favorites were the spinach puff and guava cheese danish, so so good and everything reheated perfectly in the toast setting on my toaster oven but the owner recommended a minute or two in the air fryer, so next time I may try that. I don't know if it's under new ownership or something but this place is completely different now. Their almond croissants used to be my favorite along with their other pastries. Now their croissants and pastries are dry and bland. All the workers are new and I don't see any familiar faces anymore. I've gone back a couple times thinking I just got a bad batch but I can confirm that it isn't the same anymore. I won't be returning to this place again. Surprisingly haven't tried this spot till the other day! I've always heard great things about it but never noticed it since it's tucked away in a corner of a small lot. We drive by all the time and not sure how I didn't notice it since it has a bright blue sign! We finally made the trip out 30 minutes before they closed and managed to grab some goodies. I went for their Vietnamese iced coffee which was great! Wasn't super strong like a regular Vietnamese coffee but I liked the flavor and it did its job. We also grabbed a bacon quiche, strawberry Danish, and fruit tart. Everything was fresh and suuuuper delicious! I don't even like bacon but it was so good with the strawberry Danish to balance out the sweetness. It wasn't super sweet at all and the cheese was so creamy with the fluffiest bites. I didn't think I'd care for the fruit tart so much but it was also very good. Love the thin layer of chocolate on the inside of the crust. Been coming out here for years now. Great petite bakery that remains small town thankfully. Just waiting for them to blow up like they should. Thankfully it's never too long wait of a wait for their delicious pastries. Filipino offerings are delish here. Don't think their croissant are over $8 yet. KAs are my fav here! They brûlée the bottoms possibly. We try to patronize them every couple months for work and our own pastry fix. Will always come back till the lines get longer and the prices go closer to double digits, so as long as they're not getting the patronage they deserve I definitely will not be complaining. read more

Such a cute small spot. Everything is baked fresh and fully stocked. My only qualm is that the croissants weren't warm but still VERY good. I got the pistachio and crookie. Tried this little place out for the first time today. Everything was delicious and flaky, and it's obviously a local favorite (5 minute line to get in). It's a cute little store with decorations - I like the sign that said "Valley Born & Bread". Chocolate almond croissant was recommended to me by a regular. Good choice, a tad too sweet for me but it went down easily with coffee. Brownie was more cakey than it looked. I was expecting something very dense. I visited the bakery after tasting their variation of croissants at a friends house. It is a tiny little bakery with some outdoor seating. Located in a small shopping center but no parking problem. They were pleasant and helpful to us to decide what we should get. Tried the plain, Almond, Almond/Chocolate, Pistachio, Chocolate croissants and strawberry custard filled donut. Donut was good, their croissants are very light and crispy but The Pistachio Croissant!!!! is out of this world Very creative and tasty.
