I love the food and beer here! Everything I've tried has been amazing! Never disappointed!

Okay, I will start by saying my parents LOVE this place and my wife has wanted to try it forever. I was leery, as I am not an ethnic food fan usually and I don't like Kraut... I know.... just shoot me. We met some friends here for dinner and I was pleasantly surprised. I ordered the cheese stuffed sausage, sans kraut, with mashed potatoes. It was delicious! I would definitely order it again. The dessert was incredible as well. We had the vanilla cream pastry and it melts in your mouth. We do not drink but they appear to have their own brews and had an awesome little bell they ring when someone orders certain drinks. The waitresses were in traditional German clothes, which added a nice fun flair to the whole thing. **WARNING: Watch your speed on the road there... it seems like a 60mph but it is not! Man...buffet buffet buffet!!! So this is my first time at Royal Bavaria and I happened to go on buffet night...bad idea. I ate like a piglet and had way too much beer (is there such a thing?). Tonight I was fortunate enough to come when they were serving pork cordon blue. They also had ham, schnitzel and various types of German sausage. I also had to good fortune to try the mushroom gravy and I will honestly say I'd take that gravy over grandmas gravy ANY day (blasphemy, I know). I will not go back here. We showed up this evening after driving a long way, lots of open tables in the Biergarten and staff standing around doing nothing. It was 6:45pm and they told us unless we had a reservation we would have to wait until 7:30pm. While they had open tables! As we drove away the staff was still just standing at the front doing nothing. Could've been serving my hungry family. Guess they didn't want my money so they won't have to worry about me coming back in the future. read more

Service was really good though slightly unprofessional on the hostess/seating portion. Hostess didn't seem to have an order or a plan for where to put people. She also quoted a party of five in front of us for over an hour wait meanwhile there were plenty of tables and we ourselves were sat at a table that could seat eight. The appetizers were really good but the main entrees all had the same taste so there was very little variance between the potatoes and the red cabbage and the meat which was odd. read more

First off this is not "Old Germany" which is the benchmark for German food in central Oklahoma. I go here at least once a year because it is a favorite of one of my dear friends. Average best describes Royal Bavaria. Don't get me wrong they have some pretty tasty dishes. But over all they are part of the pack of German resteraunts chasing the glory that used to be Old Germany. Tonight we ordered the Goulash, winerschnitzel, and a jagerschnitzel. The goulash was very workmanlike and mild flavored. There were good comments on the winerschnitzel but nothing outstanding, and the jagerschnitzel was pedestrian. If you're desperate for a Teutonic cuisine fix you could do worse but better is out there. read more

Royal provides not just food but an experience. The food is wonderful and staff very courteous. It's not often to see the owner and manager walking tables and visiting with guests. The specialty coffees are the perfect end to wonderful dinner. read more

An Alpen Haus rises in the flat horizon outside OKC - Royal Bavaria. Very nice, clean, quaintly decorated restraint and brewery. The Oktobefest Märzenbok Bier is tasty, as are the cheese curds with homemade mustard and dill sauces. Chris our server is polite, knowledgable and swift mit alles. Live German music, German beer, and the entire restaurant (including staff's outfits) were old-style German themed! How can you not like that? Why the would-of-been 3 stars? I've had all kinds of German food from different restaurants. I know they're all different and everyone has a different opinion. That being said this place is my favorite! They have a really nice outdoor area and clean indoor dining. Family friendly for sure. They brew their own beers and they're all great! Finally had dinner at Royal Bavaria after hearing about this place from friends for years. It was during the week, so the place wasn't crowded. I like the feel of the joint, it's semi-authentic I would say, but very comfortable. The tables seat 8 comfortably, and we sat at one with a half booth on one side. They had pillows for comfort, which was nice. We were immediately approached by our server, dressed in a traditional dress you see at German beer joints. We had a couple beers which were true to their German ancestry. To start, we went with the sausage appetizer. This is around $15 and gives you 4 types of sausage to share and a mound of sauerkraut in the middle. All were fantastic, I thought the wurst with cheese was maybe the best cheese infused sausage I've ever had. They were all juicy and flavorful. This is a great start to the meal, and imminently shareable. To eat, I went with my favorite German restaurant dish: Jagerschnitzel. This is schnitzel served with a bacon/mushroom gravy and spatzle. The pork version of this dish is $19 at Royal Bavaria, but I opted to pay the $5 upcharge and go with veal. This is a large dish, you get 2 good sized schnitzels with the order. I took one home and was still full. The schnitzels are fried crispy, but were dry in a few spots. That being said, I really enjoyed them and would order the dish again. The spatzle is traditional and goes well with the gravy. The gravy is good, I could have used more of it actually. Additionally, it was underseasoned, so I added a good dose of salt and pepper at the table. But, this was solid version of this dish overall. The table shared the chocolate bread pudding (I'm not even going to attempt to put the German name in this review). It was good, a little too sweet for me with the chocolate and orange caramel sauce. But, it's a large dessert and a good value for $7. Service was fantastic throughout. Never had to ask for beer or water refills, and she was great with my 4 year old son and the 2 year old son of the friends we were with. Be advised the parking lot is entirely dirt. So, I can see how it would be problematic if it's raining heavily. But, even if it's a bit of a drive from our house, I will absolutely return. read more

A bit disappointing. The jaegerschnitzel was well battered and crispy, but the meat was dry. The spinach spaetzle was mostly a glob of cheese; it was rich and heavy without being flavorful. We started with the sausage sampler: one sausage was excellent, but the others were bland (which is basically OK; a lot of authentic German sausages are quite mild... there's a reason why everything is served with mustard and sauerkraut). The "imported Bavarian pretzel" was great: just a bit crispy on the outside but chewy inside. It is a little pricey for a pretzel, though. The atmosphere is pleasant: clean beer hall decor, but it was surprisingly empty when we were there (7-8p on a Saturday). The waitstaff were friendly and unusually attentive--we really appreciated that. There aren't a lot of places in OKC to get German food, so give it a shot if you're really craving that stuff. But Fassler Hall is more convenient if you're downtown (much younger scene, though, and it's not really for families). Viceroy, also downtown, has better schnitzel but is much fancier and more expensive. read more

What we ordered: although it was Thursday buffet night, but we still order from the à la carte menu because I am craving for pig knuckle for ages. Their pig knuckle was crispy and yummy. It would be awesome if it is a little more salty. All the side dishes were outstanding. The preserved veggies were excellent, especially the red cabbages. I love it the most. We also order a sampler sausages, it was good as well. For the beverage, I actually looking for some black beer which smell wheat and smooth, and we had ordered two different kind of beer. THREE WORDS: CHOCOLATE BREAD PUDDING! We like to search for some good local food when away from hometown and we were definitely delighted at Royal Bavaria. This is our first time in Oklahoma and even though we did not find much to do around town, this place is so good that it made me want to re visit the town. Yep it's that good. It could be that back in DFW we are lacking of some good German food. I was really looking for some love in schnitzel. I started to forget how good they were in Austria. I think I finally found the closest here! We ordered: - Sausage Sampler - Jägerschnitzel mit Pilzrahmsauce, Spätzle (Pork, but can pay extra $5 for Veal) - Schweinshax'n"Braumeister" mit Biersauce, Semmelknödl (Ham Shank) - Bayrischer Schokoladen Scheiterhaufen (Bavarian chocolate bread pudding with orange - caramel sauce) - Oktoberfest Bier. The sausage is tasty but it's not stellar. I have had better or maybe it's just my preference. However, the sauerkraut is super yum. It seems fresh made to me. It's got great flavor not too tart and the cabbage is still a bit crunchy, a good crunch. We asked for curry ketchup to eat with the sausage. (It cost $1 and we didn't know that till we got the check. It's ok because it's tastier than the curry ketchup in the bottle I have at home.) The schnitzle is very yum! The way they breaded and fried that pork is just awesome. It's not overly coated with bread crumbs, the breaded part didn't separate from the meat. The meat is tender, the mushroom/bacon gravy is tasty. I have no comment on Spätzle, has never been a big fan of it because its bland taste. The texture is good though. The Ham Shank is great. We ate it up, the bone was almost squeaky clean. Good texture, good flavor. The bread dumpling that comes with it is a little bland in taste but good in texture (may be that's how it's supposed to be-- I don't know.) I exchanged salad for Mash Potatoes- Great decision!! The Mash is divine!! I'm not usually a big fan of bread pudding anywhere, but I can say I LOVE this chocolate bread pudding so much! They're a yummy goodness. My brain inception said this is not bread! this is greatness! The orange caramel sauce made everything even better. Oktoberfest beer is smooth. I hope to be back and be seated in the beer garden. They've got a large outdoor biergarten area. It would be nice having these yum yum on a lovely day. It was raining hard all day when I visited and it was still cold. Service is great. Our waiter is attentive and friendly. The hostess is not very much. not even a forced smile on her face. That's just odd for someone in the hostess position. I don't know if it's just us because we are Asians. Hopefully not. It didn't affect my feelings toward the restaurant though. Delicious food. Delicious beer. Great service. Unique and fun atmosphere. Just all around awesome. I highly recommend their cordon bleu, jager schnitzel, kasewurst and kraut, German home fries, Bavarian pretzel with the pate and German cheese spread, the trout is excellent, their hand cut fries are so good. You really can't go wrong! We've been coming here for close to 20 years. It's super authentic-the owner is German and bought from another German couple who started it-and he was professionally trained in Munich. It's a bit out of the way but it's totally worth it. It was a first for me to go and eat there. According to my husband the safest food I could order would be the schnitzel Well he was correct though. Lol I really forgot the whole name of the food but I ordered the famous schnitzel menu they have. To be honest the food is not bad. Thought it was a little bland for my taste. Because I think they cook the food the way like that. My Husband ordered the sausages and most of the sausage taste good. With their beers you can order the shot glasses for their beers so you would know which beer you'll like better. read more

Giant beer, live music, great food. Loved it! I'm only in OKC for the summer and plan on visiting as many times as I can.

This is some knock-out German food! Not to mention the excellent in-house brewed beer! I've been to many a similar place, and I can honestly say that I would come back here for sure if I were in the vicinity again. I had the Jaegerschnitzel, which they are apparently famous for. It was huge! I could barely get through half! Probably didn't help I had the potato/wurst soup to start, which was also excellent. And it came with a salad, which was also very good. The creamy garlic dill dressing is not to be missed! The schnitzel was big, and very well prepared; the frying technique was spot on. The breading wasn't too heavy, and it stayed on the cutlet throughout the meal. Seems like a pan-frying job, though if it's deep-fried, then they really know what they are doing there. The sauce was great, but honestly... not the best I've ever had... though it was still very good! Mushrooms were very flavorful, and other ingredients shone through quite nicely. I've had a few jaegers before, is all, and I have a spot in my heart for another at the top rung. ;) Service was spotty, but mostly good. I was seated near the servers close to closing, so probably not the best seat in the house at that hour. Still, my server was fairly attentive, amiable, and professional. I've been to a lot of great restaurants, but I have never been to a place like the Royal Bavaria. This place has it all - fantastic service, amazing ambiance, delicious vitals, German beer on tap, delectable desserts, and while we were there, a live German band. This place is fun - plain and simple. The food is delicious, the beer is smooth as butter and you could ask for friendlier staff. This place is a complete experience all by itself. Fellow patrons chant "Oi, Oi, Oi" at the end of the bands favorite song and please don't forget about the infamous Chicken dance. I had the brisket with horseradish sour cream sauce, brussel sprouts and the house potatoes. Each bite was authentic Bavarian cuisine at its finest. In between bites of perfectly cooked brussel spouts and red cabbage, I danced with the other patrons and thoroughly enjoyed our server, dressed as a traditiional German beer maid - who knew the menu, answered all our questions and kept our glasses full. Now - this joint loves its beer - but it's family friendly and incorporates the kids into the evenings festivities. The bread pudding is to die for and the apple corn shots and Vitzen beer only add to the flavors of the meal. This was our first time here and it definitely won't be our last. Make your reservations early however. When we arrived at 7pm on Saturday evening there was standing room only. We attempted to get additional reservations for the 2nd of February and was told they might not have a slot. It's well worth the wait and the extra time to make a reservation. Been here several times over several years and it's only issue is the manager (Not the owner). Very rude and covers up his mistakes to the owner, gossips to the waitstaff, and will try his best to get you to leave early. We love all the dishes and Thursday's buffet! Added bonus is the bands and outdoor beer garden. We will be back, but we stay away from the manager which makes our visits a little awkward. read more

This place is definitely worth the stop! Elizabeth was or server and she was great very friendly. The food was amazing and the portions are huge. The beer is very good we had a kings gold, and a dukenwizen. I would have both again! For the meals we had a jager schnitzel and a goulash that was great, but the portions are so big I had no chance to finish. We checked the website before we left, and it clearly stated that reservations were only accepted until 4:45. It was just after 5:00, but the website said reservations not required. Oh my goodness!! It was my first time experiencing Royal Bavaria after hearing my friends rave about it for weeks. Now I hate that I waited so long to try!! All the food is cooked immaculately and is complimented by the atmosphere the building and staff cultivate with their attitudes and surroundings!!! After a long day at work my colleagues and I come for a wonderful meal here. The beer was delightful and the food had ridiculously large portions. We all shared all the plates. However, the most amazing thing is on the dessert menu. LITERALLY, This is a PSA announcement. The German Chocolate Bread Pudding is to die for!!! Yes, it's to Hell and gone. And yes, it stands all alone on the prairie, just off the road. (Don't worry. You won't be butchered and turned into barbecue for hungry, passing tourists. No, you'll need to go to Nicoma Park for THAT.) And yes, it's often crowded. (But, hey, isn't that a GOOD sign?) Delicious schnitzel, lovely goulash, perfect spaetzle (try the spinach!), and exceptionally good beers made right on site. (Drink them at room temperature. C'mon. Drink your beer like a good kraut. My favorite dish on the menu? Easy -- that would be the Nürnberger sausage on the sampler plate -- with a dollop of mustard (made fresh on site!) and huge swig of beer, of course! VERY friendly staff. (Yeah. Expect dirndls on the female staff members. Totally corny, but fun.) The house salad dressing, by the way, is a creamy dill -- quintessentially German, quite nice, AND a pleasing departure from the other omnipresent ranch dressing. (What the hell IS it with Okies and damned old ranch dressing, people? Seriously. I wanna know.) I'm pretty sure that the schnitzels are all half-price on one night of the week -- is it Thursday? Tuesday? One of the two. Think it's Tuesday. (Pretty sure that Thursday is the day for the buffet special.) Try the Biergarten in warm months. Fantastic! Don't know how we missed this gem of a restaurant. I am on a specialized diet right now from a health issue. I have to research extensively in order to go out to eat. I was able to order a few entrees here! For this visit I chose the Forelle mit Spargel. Yum!!!!! Plating was a bit weird LOL. I included a picture. That aside, not only were our meals fantastic, our server, Ashley, was great! Finally, I adored the ambiance of the Biergarten. Nice little band, laid back, people's kids can move freely. Terrific. It's kind of isolated and looks to have been there for several year. That means it's a destination in my book. You don't need to be "in the thick of it" to get people to come see you. The food is authentic and spot on. I had the jagerschnitzle , sauerkraut and spatzle. I typically like my schnitzel lathered up in mushroom gravy, which they were a little light on,.......but I forgave them. The service is good and they have their own brewery on site which is fun.
