This guy is only the second contractor to do exactly what he said he was going to do with the utmost professionalism . Not to mention how well he communicated from when he was picking up my new pool heater to when he was going to be arriving at my house. I am a retired Electrical Contractor and I understand the building process. Not only did he install my pool heater, He actually took it a step further and properly redid the gas line that had been unproperly installed the first time. He did it all for the exact price that he quoted me and did not try to upcharge the project as most companies do. The guy (Paul) told me it was working perfectly and said that if I had any problems, he would replace it with no issues or give me my money back. The part was not working. we've used them for two years. At first they were great. Then our pool pump stopped working. Paul told us we needed to replace it to the tune of $2500. Two weeks later we had the same problem with the new pump as we had with the old one. They got it working and then it stopped working. We texted Paul several times and tried to call him. No response. We contacted Pentair who makes the pump. They we're wonderful. They recommended Modern Pool Company who took care of everything. We hired them to take care of our pool. They are professional and take good care of us. Don't use Royal Blue unless you want to be ignored and throw your money away. Great end-to-end customer experience ... top quality parts and exceptional service (both in the office and in the field). I had the most amazing experience with Royal Blue Pools and, it was one of those dreaded warranty claims that homeowners and contractors both have to fight hard to get covered items handled properly. Late on a Wednesday (6pm, after business hours), the top half of my Filter Tank exploded when a heat-related crack finally gave way. I filed the claim online with my warranty company by 8pm (Wednesday night). The warranty company assigned Royal Blue Pools. Roughly an hour later (9pm Wednesday night), I left a voice message at Royal Blue Pools (outbound message indicated it was Debbie) to advise my claim was coming their way and that I was hoping they could fit me in as soon as possible (note: Royal Blue Pools, like most companies, doesn't open until 8am). Much to my surprise, I received a text message from Debbie at 6:18am asking me to send pictures so they could begin the process of locating a replacement parts ASAP. Wow ... this shocked me in the midst of the current "scam-demic" where many use this as an opportunity to delay response times and jack up parts/labor prices. I sent the pictures by 6:30am and Debbie immediately advised that she would have a technician come out this same day (Thursday). At this point, I didn't know if I was dreaming but, thankfully, I had stumbled upon a contractor that treated my (pool) emergency with the same urgency/importance as they would for their own family member. Paul (the owner) managed to fit me into his busy schedule by midday Thursday. Paul concurred that the tank had lived a long and productive life (13-14 year old) but was now toast. Paul informed me that he would (if necessary) fight on my behalf with the warranty company to have the entire unit replaced since the bottom half of the filter tank had also suffered from the same ravages of heat over time. These units operate under high pressure and can be dangerous. Paul did still one better ... he was able to have my warranty company approve an entire replacement "kit" (a $1250-$1450 parts package, excluding labor, from my research) - i.e., new Pentair upper and lower tank, new filters (say what?! wow!!), new metal collar, new O-Rings (throughout), new air release valve, etc. By Friday morning (pool now out of service only Thursday and part of Friday morning), Paul was at my door with parts in tow and ready to install the new unit. Paul assured me he would stand behind everything for the next year (note: warranty companies extend follow-up for only 6 months). I am one to do my homework and I'm certainly not an easy person to please. I take recommendations (good & bad) seriously. I will research contractors on NextDoor, Yelp and Google. I have the utmost respect and appreciation for the end-to-end experience provided by Royal Blue Pools. I have added them to my preferred contractor list for both warranty and non-warranty repairs and service. read more

Flow to my waterfall and pool had markedly decreased over a few week period to the point of almost no flow. Contacted Paul at royal blue pools. Amd he replied promptly and was on site the next day to evaluate the situation. We decided that the 20 year old de filter system was to blame. And within 24 hours, he replaced the filter system with a new pentair cartridge system and my pool has never been better! He was professional, courteous, prompt and reasonably priced. 100% recommend him. And I will definitely be contacting him if I need any further assistance. read more

He was awesome, and me, being a Deaf owner of the house, has a great attitude and so much patient with me during our communications using paper and pen or texting. He was able to get the job done precisely with the pool lights and the pool pump leaks. I can feel my house is beginning to come back to life and feel so good about this house! Royal Blue provided our pool cleaning service for about six years. We were pretty happy with them for most of that time. Unfortunately, they left us scrambling in the end. When we first purchased our home Royal Blue was awesome. They acid washed our pool and even gave a hefty discount for paying cash. Most of the year they cleaned our pool weekly and cleaned every other week during the winter months. Invoices were sent monthly by email and it was easy to pay that way. The communication with Paul got worse over the years. He and my husband communicated by text. My advice would be that Paul focus on the use of complete sentences in communications. That alone would go a long way. Here's where things ended on a bad note. Our pool pump was having issues. Paul texted my husband saying the pump needed to be replaced. When my husband asked if it was broken Paul replied that the pump was now working. The saga with the pump continued until the pool was allowed to turn green. Suddenly, Royal Blue no longer does acid washing to clean the pool. Paul recommended another company to drain, acid wash, and refill the pool. So we spent the $500 to do this with the other company. The communication with Paul became very spotty at this point and our pool cleaner wasn't always coming. We became worried that the pool would go green again and we'd have to spend another $500 if nobody was cleaning the pool. My husband sent Paul a text letting him know it seemed like he was unwilling to service our pool and we'd have to change companies if he couldn't resume cleaning service. Paul responded that he'd refund part of that current month and basically released us as customers. I'm not exactly sure why our previously reliable pool company decided they no longer wanted our business. It's interesting to release customers who have paid on time for years during a time when many people probably can't afford luxuries like pool service. I have a strong feeling that our grandfathered rate was no longer attractive to Paul. If professionally communicated we would have understood a rate increase matched with reliable service. My house cleaning company raised my rate years ago and I'm still happily using them, but they had a professional conversation about it. Overall, they took great care of our pool for years and we were happy. It's when they no longer want your business that you'll have a problem. read more

My wife and I hired this company after wanting to switch from our previous pool service. We figured our neighbors seemed happy, so we asked for the company name and number. At first, this place was doing great. However, today, our pool guy, Jose, decided to bring his girlfriend, who doesn't work for the company, onto our property without letting us know. She helped herself to my tools and started dumping leaves into our gravel from the pool. We tried calling Jose, who told us this person was his girlfriend, and then promptly hung up on us and ignored us afterwords. I told his girlfriend to put my tools back, but she simply dumped them on the ground and went back into our pool guy's work truck, and ignored me. After Jose refused to speak with me, though I was in my yard cleaning up after his girlfriend, we called the company's owner, who apparently isn't as friendly as we thought when we first hired them, and proceeded to lie to us that this lady was our pool guy's assistant, not knowing Jose already admitted who she was and since he never brought anyone before, knew we were aware she wasn't an assistant. We ended up firing both Jose and Royal Blue Pools on the spot and don't recommend them to anyone. read more

Been using Royal Blue for about 3 months after buying a home and becoming a first time pool owner at the recommendation of a friend after having a questionable experience with my first pool company. The guys here are awesome. The owner responds to my texts almost immediately. They have answered all my questions and helped me learn how to use my pool (hottub, heaters, etc.) they are very reasonably priced and very reliable. I texted them after the recent dust storm which turned my pool green and was easily able to schedule an extra cleaning. They even do pool repairs at a reasonable price! I hired Royal Blue Pools to clean my pool last year. At first everything was fine. Where it went downhill was when he decided to outsource the work to another company WITHOUT my permission. These new guys (which cannot be found anywhere online) are supposedly called "Blue Magic Pool and Spa". They do not exist anywhere online and seem to be some sort of phantom company that filed to do business about 6 months ago. Paul never called me to say "You are being outsourced to another company". He simply sold me out to this phantom company and they are terrible. "Blue Magic Pools" comes once a week and vacuums the pool. That is it. They do not brush, they do not test, they do not backwash the filter.... nothing. They vacuum.... So if you want to be outsourced by Paul and get vacuuming for $125/mo. this is the service for you read more

The WORST pool service ever!! This company charged us ridiculous amount of money just to clean our pool. We are first home buyer so we didn't have any idea about the pool and we wanted some advise from the pool service company. However, this company purposely closed our valve (other pool guys told us about this), so we wouldn't be able to clean our pool by ourselves. 3-29-15 I just cant speak highly enough about these folks. I was having a wedding last weekend and when turning on the fountains for the pool in the morning our filter exploded. I called Brett and Paul and told them what was going on. After sending them pictures via phone, Paul showed up within an hour and replaced the filter housing. The wedding went off without a hitch thanks to Royal Blue. My weekly service is excellent too. A few weeks ago, I caught Brett playing with my dog. Excellent! read more

They started out well, but after a year or so, the quality of their service deteriorated until it was completely unacceptable. An automatic pool filler (which they supplied) leaked chronically and created a large pool of thick brown algae on our pool deck. Leaves and debris lined the pool beach. They were asked to repair automatic pool cleaner, and took it, but did not do any repairs. Finally, when we pointed out the extremely dirty state of our pool, backing up all complaints with photographs, they abruptly terminated our service. They then refused to reinstate service, claiming that we had hurt the feelings of the laborer who does the actual pool cleaning. Very unprofessional. I have many photographs to back up these claims and will post them if it's possible to do so. It's your choice, and your mileage may vary, but I personally regret ever had dealings with this company. Should you choose to deal with them, never complain. Accept the state of your pool or they will desert you, just as they did with us. read more
