I ordered from here since my regular Thai place was closed for renovations. The people were kind, and the food was ready when I went to pick it up. Besides that, the food was meh. The flavor in the tom kha was pretty nonexistent, couldn't even finish it tbh. Pad see ew had the flavor, but when you're paying $16-$20 for a dish, and you get smaller portions that what you're used to from the rest of the city, it's pretty difficult. My favorite Thai restaurant for our weekly Friday night takeout after the long workweek closed - so I decided to try this place on a whim. And while I miss my old place I'm so glad I discovered Golden Triangle! It's great! And so nice to have the variety of different cuisines also. I'd passed it before - but somehow the modest storefront down in the busy end of South Street made me assume it would be bad Asian food for partiers. WRONG! I ordered online and food was ready for pickup when scheduled. We had several of the Malaysian dishes and they were really excellent. Chicken in curry, Roti, Tofu curry, summer rolls. All well made flavorful and delicious. It's also a great value, very reasonable price at a time when restaurant prices are escalating (understandably though). And once I was inside it was just fine as a casual place to eat in also. I'm looking forward to that, and looking forward to trying the Thai and Burmese offerings next! read more

The hunt for the best Beef Rendang in Philly led me to Golden Triangle. This Beef Rendang was seasoned well, the curry was rich but the meat was a tough chew and the portion was underwhelming. Not exactly what I'd expect from a contender for the best Beef Rendang in Philly. The Singapore Fried Mee Hoon with Shrimp was ok. The dish mostly consisted of noodles with some veggies and a small shrimp. It was good with a sweetness that was addictive. read more

We were at FDR park and my dining partner was hungry for Thai. This popped up with really reviews on Yelp! so off we went to try it out. Street parking was available a block away. For a Saturday at 12:30pm we felt lucky, but aren't sure if that's normal. The restaurant was empty so we sat near the window. It felt clean and friendly, with plants some decoration. There was a TV near the register showing the news. We ordered red curry, pad Thai, and a Myanmar coffee. We asked if we could get the tofu raw (not deep fried) and was told that even though they do make their own tofu, they make it fried, as it's egg tofu. Ok, we'll give it a go. I looked up to see what a Myanmar coffee was before ordering and what I read was they double-roast their beans, which are 80% of the mix. The rest is wheat, butter or margarine, and salt. I thought I'd give it a try for the experience. The food was good but not really anything amazing. The coffee was super sweet and had some kind of milk in it. It tasted like strange Vietnamese coffee. We asked if we could get it without the milk and sweetener and was told they could not do it, which makes me think it was a powdered drink with water. It's kind of what it tasted like. We were rather underwhelmed with the entire experience. It was good but nothing stood out, and we considered the coffee a fail. read more

A killer dinner. I've eaten a lot of pad kee mao in my life and this was by far the best--absolutely no contest. Saucy noodles and fresh veg with tender, juicy chicken and just enough kick. Portions are big enough that you can get more bang for your buck by taking the leftovers for lunch tomorrow! The roti canai justifiably gets attention, too. As a bread fiend, the chewy flavorful hunk that came rolled up in foil was a dream come true. The potato-chicken dipping soup it came with was fairly spicy. I'm a wuss, so it was probably hotter than I would like if it was just the soup alone, but the roti made it manageable. And wow, the depth of flavor...! What a lil hidden gem! I'm so glad I stumbled upon this place after a work event. I had the garlic classic with shrimp under their thai regional entrees, and it was cooked to perfection. I requested it to be extra spicy, and love when restaurants accommodate. The shrimp was juicy and plump and worked so nicely with their sauce. I of course had to get their fried wontons and thai iced tea, and they did not disappoint either. Ordered three appetizers and two entrees for takeout. The website said 15 minutes and it was ready in 15 minutes, despite being a busy dining hour, and the fact that many other takeout orders ready to be taken away, as well as three or four dine-in parties present. I got the Roti Canai with mild spiciness to appease my children, and it had just the right amount of kick. Popia Summer Rolls were so glutinous they stuck to the foil package, but the filling was very good and the sauce was a big hit. The samosa was divided into three pieces, perfect for my party of three. The filling was very flavorful, and the sauce that comes with it added to the depth of flavor. The Malay Buddhist Delight had a good variety of vegetables, but the glass noodle salad, which there was not much of, absorbed all the sauce, and was a therefore a little too slimy. Pad Kee Mao was on point, and the fact that you can choose scallops as your protein is a nice touch. Portions are sizeable and the price is very reasonable. read more

Food we ordered: char kueh teow with shrimp, nasi lemak, penang tofu with chicken, and veggie fried rice for the table. I can only speak for the penang tofu and fried rice, love it. The tofu in the fried rice - flavorful, don't know what they do but when I cook tofu it tastes like a bland sponge. The tofu in the penang tofu - it was freaking juicy, I loved it. It was drenched, DRENCHED in red curry sauce. The chicken was tender and juicy. It is a mild spicy, had to put some chili oil on it because I like spicy. It came with a small bowl of rice. Very filling. My friends raved about their foods too. Nasi lemak is their go to order, so def recommend!l. We also ordered dessert! We got the pulut hitam (sweetened black rice with coconut milk?), and mango sticky rice. Would also recommend. To boot, the service was attentive and the atmosphere was cozy and homely. They had holiday decorations up, and paired with the southeast Asian art they had up, it felt like a tropical Christmas haha! :) Would come back again, and would recommend. The curry dipping sauce has a nice amount of spice as does the green curry. I almost always order both every single time haha. Okay, the fried tofu and papaya salad often end up in my to go bag because I'm greedy for the flavors. Service is always exceptional and if you get a chance, sit at the two top in the front window with your boo. It's well lit, cozy and great for people watching over a thai tea. Beef rendang, where have you been all my life? I saw a picture of this dish somewhere and did some quick research to find that this restaurant was walkable from my office. I bookmarked it for a future day when I "might have / possibly / purposefully" forgot to bring in lunch. I will say that for a $15 dish, I expected a bit more, but nope, you got a serving of rice in a small bowl, perhaps six cubes of meat with just a few shavings of carrot strips on top. And it was DELICIOUS. The beef was so tender it nearly fell apart as my fork touched it. The sauce had a undertone of spiciness that gave it just enough kick. Sorry not sorry - I ATE THE WHOLE THING. Ayam Pandan: 4/5 crispy wings with a fantastic spicy dipping sauce. Nasi Lemak: 4/5 a mixed plate of different textures and flavors and a good intro to this type of cuisine. Ordered a bunch for pick-up last night (a Thursday) during prime dinner time, and was ready in 15 min as promised. We ordered roti canai, vegetable spring rolls, steamed dumplings, wonton noodle soup, crab fried rice, green curry w/ shrimp, and beef rendang. All of it was, hot, fresh, delicious - 10/10. Zero complaints. (For reference - I did the "medium" spice level which was perfect, but I will prob go up 1 level next time.) The star for me, hands down, was the beef rendang. Ketchup taste indeed on the pad Thai --perhaps I just like a different flavor profile from my pad Thai (little sweet , brown , rich and flavorful and savory ) at first I couldn't quite place the intense , tangy extra tomato-ey edge --until I looked at one other review which mentioned "ketchup " Not sure that was what it was , but it almost tasted like the Thai version of spaghetti sauce . No sweet balance , chicken a bit rubbery . Broccoli was yummy and I added it to my pad Thai . The thom yum soup --vegetarian --was a little better --veggie variety was excellent but the broth was just too tart for me and resembled American vegetable soup broth . Papaya salad - good amount of spice to the dish. Has fresh papaya, cucumbers, carrots. Great flavors! Beef and Chicken Skewers - the meat was tender and perfectly cooked. Would order this again. Beef Rendang- would not order this again. The beef was tough and didn't really include much with the dish. Black Pepper Beef - really enjoyed this dish. Lots of black pepper flavor and the meat was really tender. Service was ok, but the food came out really quickly. Great little BYOB if you wanna grab a quick meal. My boyfriend chose Golden Triangle for our Friday date night and it did not disappoint! Golden Triangle offers a menu blended of Malaysian, Burmese and Thai cuisine. All the food is super aromatic and flavorful. We ordered the Sambal Sauce chicken and Crispy Basil Beef. The Sambal Sauce dish was essentially a choice of meat cooked with bell peppers and onions with a strong shrimp paste -- on the fishier tasting side if you like that! A slight hint of spice too. The Crispy Basil was essentially the same thing but no shrimp paste, just a savory light sauce. Both dishes were satisfyingly explosive in flavor! The sauciness of the dishes paired perfectly with the rice on the side. We also ordered a hot Burmese tea which tasted equivalent to a hot Thai tea. It was super sweet, which was fine for someone like me with a sweet tooth. Prices on the menu range from $10/dish-$18/dish depending on what you order! Overall, the restaurant is clean, food is good and reasonably portioned, and staff is friendly! I would definitely return. I'll be honest, it was my first time eating Thai /Malaysian at a restaurant, and boy does this place not disappoint! Got the Roti Canai for an appetizer (this delicious crepe-like pancake which you rip and dip into a sweet and savory curry chicken potato dip). Then we followed things up with Pad Kee Mao, which to me seemed similar to Pad Thai, but without the peanuts and more savory flavors instead. Lastly, we got the Chicken Curry Mee, which was a delicious spicy coconut curry soup, which was a perfect blend of savory with a hint of sweetness. Nice little restaurant on 5th street right next to south street. Their food is delicious and quite authentic. I came here on several occasional and always received good service and tasty dishes.. I insisted on really spicy green curry one time and it was exactly how I wanted it. The pad Thai was the best I've ever had- very tangy tamarind taste and not sweet- quite unique.
