Easy terminal to get in and out of. There are two negatives: if you're driving and parking, you have to get here around 10am if you want a spot near the terminal otherwise you have to park in the overflow lot. Parking is $22 a day - you can pay on the way out. Crazy thing, not a lot of changes inside the terminal since 1999 unlike at other ports where there's a nice waiting area, etc. read more

There are two major cruise ship ports in the L.A. area: Long Beach and the Los Angeles World Cruise Center in San Pedro. Carnival sails out of LB while Princess, Crystal, and NCL sail out of this one. Both terminals have their pros and cons, but I slightly prefer the San Pedro port over Long Beach for several reasons. First, parking here is super easy. There's a large open and uncovered parking lot that has plenty of spaces. Expect to pay around $23 per day to park. It's easy to drive here, but the surrounding area is pretty industrial. It's safe, but those vacay vibes don't kick in until you're actually on the ship. Check-in can be a mixed bag. When it's organized, it moves quickly and smoothly. When multiple ships are leaving at once, it can feel crowded and a little chaotic. Security and boarding are fairly standard, but this port employs an outside private security company. That means the employees can often be surly and downright rude. I guess it's good they keep us all safe, though. If you arrive before your specified time, be aware that you WILL be standing outside in the direct sun. There is no shade, no overhang, and no seating. It's best to arrive late rather than early. Once you are inside the terminal, there are rows and rows of chairs where you can sit and wait to board the ship. The terminal has restrooms and usually cups of tap water are provided while you wait. Boarding the ship (especially Princess and NCL) is pretty painless and simple. Of course, it helps if you have an elevated repeat customer status on a cruise line because you'll get to bypass a lot of the lines (but only inside the terminal). Dropoff and pickup via rideshare is also easy, and there are plenty of porters waiting and eager to take your luggage. Be sure to throw them a tip if you let them take your bags! Traffic folks keep the flow of cars moving pretty quickly, and it's so much more efficient than the total clown show at Long Beach. Overall, the LA World Cruise Center is functional and no-frills, and that's all it needs to be. Not exciting, not awful, and just a reminder that the real vacation starts once you step onboard. read more

Another visit to the Los Angeles World Cruise Center: this time to take the Royal Caribbean ship, Quantum of the Seas, on a 4 night cruise to Catalina and Ensenada. This review is for the logistics of the cruise port itself, and in that respect, it was OK. My wife and I came on a Monday mid-morning, with the Lyft from downtown Long Beach to San Pedro taking 15 minutes and costing about $30. Our scheduled check-in time was 12:30 at Berth 92, but through experience knew that we could arrive earlier. Unlike the nearby Long Beach cruise port, there is no green space here...it's a very utilitarian set-up, basically a cruise terminal using a large maritime warehouse. Arriving at 10:00, we bypassed the luggage check-in area since we had only carry-on luggage. All guests were allowed to get in the security check line inside. It's a similar set-up to an airport, with us needing to lift our bags to go through conveyor x-ray (except sealed liquids are allowed). One thing they will confiscate is hard liquor, beer, and a second bottle of wine per person. They also will question power strips, unless it's needed for medical equipment like a CPAP machine. Once through, you are directed to a series of smaller queues, each with a port worker with tablet, checking people in. One of us needed to bring up the boarding pass on our phone, and then provide both of our passports. It didn't take long, and we were reminded that we wouldn't need our passports again during our trip (which ended up being true). Unlike other cruise lines, RC does not give you your sea pass/room card at this time. Thus, your boarding pass on your phone is important, even after check-in. Each cruise port does the next part slightly differently. Here, we were directed to a large sitting area with makeshift folding chairs, where we sat down to wait. It didn't take long: at about 10:30, people were allowed to board the ship. We needed to get our boarding pass scanned again at the port one last time. We boarded the ship by 10:45. On disembarkation day, we got off on Berth 92. Berth 93 had the RC Navigator of the Seas. There were two gangways on Deck 5, one on each end of the ship. The Royal Theater and Two70 were good places to hang out. Vacating our room was mandatory by 8, but we left by 7, hoping to leave with our hand carried luggage early. The lines were well organized, with attendants clearly directing people how to use their luggage to maintain their place in line. At exactly 7:30, the ship was cleared by the port and we started moving. We scanned our ship card for the last time, and then walked a long portable winding gangway. From there was a narrow escalator to ground level. We were in the group that was self-assist, meaning we had all of our luggage with us and didn't need to pick up any additional luggage (though it looks like the workers had already made good progress from the look of things). From there we went through passport control, with one line for folks with birth certificates only, and the two for folks with passports. All it took was one picture and we were done. The area for rideshare (and private pickup) is right in front of Berth 91. It was crowded when we got there, but it was very difficult to get a rideshare. We later learned that it was because the port authority had blocked much of the roads into port in preparation for the Memorial weekend facilities. So many rideshare drivers just didn't want to deal with it. After cancellations, I upgraded to a Black Lyft (about 2.5 times the normal price) and got someone pretty quickly (we got lucky..he had dropped somebody off earlier and was just looking for a ride worth his while). Ended up costing us about $70, but we got home before 9 am. Extras: -- Has 3 Berths: Berth B92 is the main terminal, with B93 being used when B92 is used. On very rare occasions, there could be a third ship docked, and that would use B46 (about 2 miles south on the outer harbor). There is also a B50, which is also located on the outer harbor (only used once in 2026). There's been talk about converting the outer berths into a real-time cruise terminal, rivaling those in Galveston or Florida. Nothing concrete though. -- Like LAX, the designers didn't really think about how cars can effectively get in/get out when very busy (i.e. two ships in port together). -- During the summer months, only RC uses this port: two ships, one doing weekly cruises (Fridays) and one doing 4 day/3 day (Mondays and Fridays). Cruising out of this port was an absolute nightmare. There were two ships boarding at the same time, so traffic was insane. What should've been a 15-minute drive from our hotel to the cruise port would've taken three hours. We were in stopped traffic a mile away from the cruise port and our uber didn't move for 20 minutes before we ended up hopping onto the highway and walking the rest of the way. Definitely recommend ubering to this port over driving a rental car, as the cars we walked past didn't have the option of abandoning their vehicles to make the cruise. Wow. I've been to 50+ cruise ports all over the world, and for a major city like Los Angeles, this port is pretty run down. My first visit to this port was back in 2011, and honestly, it doesn't feel like much has changed since then. I visited both terminals bathrooms were clean, but the facilities overall are dated and worn. The only consistently great thing here is the parking... if you can find a spot. Overnight parking for 6 days cost me $142, but credit where it's due: the parking staff was professional and helpful. One bright spot: the porters. Most of them were honest, hardworking people tip them well. Security was also solid friendly, professional, and they even caught me trying to smuggle in my iron At least you know they're doing their job. The city is doing some construction at the car entrance, and they've added a decent water fountain, which is nice. Also love that the USS Iowa is right next door that's actually pretty cool. That said, the whole terminal feels neglected. By far the worst embarkation process I've experienced, especially if you're flying in or relying on rideshare. It's chaotic and not well set up for out-of-town travelers. Honestly, my husband and I had a very seamless and easy experience boarding our first cruise from the Port of LA. We arrived much earlier at the parking lot than our cruise line told us to (RC said the lot wouldn't be open until 3PM, but we arrived at around 1PM and were able to park just fine) and we are super glad we did--if we had arrived when the cruise line said, we would not have been able to park steps away from the boarding area. Once parked, we did find it a little confusing in terms of where to line up, but a worker directed us to the right line. Once we were checked in, the whole process of boarding our ship took a very short amount of time--much shorter than expected, as we were planning on not being able to board until 3:30 PM at the earliest, and I want to say we were on our ship by maybe 2:30. Just goes to show how efficient the staff of both RC and Port of LA are! Parking is definitely steep at $23 a day, but I suppose that's not any different from having to park anywhere else near the port (or any port for that matter). This is located in San Pedro, California. We boarded Royal Caribbean's Navigator of the Seas here. We booked two cars to drop off 6 of us with ALL our luggage. Luckily we had booked a 2 bedroom Grand Suite plus I brought a walker along for our shore excursion to Ensenada. We were waved to a faster shorter line to take an elevator up to the ship vs an escalator. Then a ramp up after security checks showing your cruise documents and passports. On our return at the end of the cruise there was only one grumpy crotchety man we encountered by the elevator who barked at me and a mother with twins in a double stroller. He really needs to retire because someone more capable and friendly should bid the passengers a fond goodbye. He was so rude two passengers decided not to use the elevator ie elderly, handicapped or other circumstances for joining that line. read more

It's a cruise terminal, there's nothing special about it except that if you're here, you're likely going on a cruise. There's a huge uncovered parking lot adjacent to the main building. As of 08/2025, it's $22. / day. You enter by tapping a credit card, and when you leave, use the same credit card. This prevents vehicle theft. There's a QR code that pops up in the screen you can scan for a receipt. Very efficient. Inside, there are plenty of staff guiding you. Lines will move fast or slow depending on when you arrive and what time your boarding is. The porter can check in your luggage so you wouldn't have to lug everything around. The whole process took 15 minutes and it was a very easy process, much better than Carnival Cruise terminal at Long Beach. The disembark process was a bit different as they make you walk a longer path in a zigzag pattern to reach the exit. There's a facial ID station and when the light turns green, you're good to go. No cameras are allowed so I couldn't take photos, but it's easy to figure out. Bon voyage! read more

If you can't get onsite parking they do offer overflow parking 7 minutes away with shuttles. I just got back from a cruise out of this location and it was pretty good! The location is clean, has parking and the staff are all very helpful. It's much easier to navigate than the Port of San Diego, so for me, it's worth the 1.5 hour drive. The waiting area once you check in is really nice as well. I've gone out of here for three of my cruises and it's been similar every time. The only complaint I have is that there is only one working elevator, so it takes a really long time if you are traveling with someone that happens to have mobility issues. The parking lot is a bit confusing at times, but overall it works for what I need it to do. If you want a good place to catch a cruise, this is the place. read more

Interesting first visit. Place looks easier for ride share Lyft/Uber and taxis or passenger pickups to drive around. This is way easier than Long Beach near Queen Mary where drivers are likely to get lost coming to pick up passengers. Los Angeles World Cruise Terminal/Port of Los Angeles is like a one way loop and each stop is clearly labeled with a number for drivers to easily identify where they are picking up passengers. Looking good so far. Lines move through without problems. There's plenty of employees onsite to direct traffic. I would consider coming to this cruise terminal area in the future. Only problem is there isn't too many places to walk around on foot nearby. I wish there were nearby hotel options or restaurants. This was my first visit to this port, and I was genuinely surprised by the level of service. The porters were outstanding--very friendly and extremely helpful, especially since we were traveling with a large group and plenty of luggage. My only real complaint is the lack of clear signage outside. It wasn't obvious which line we needed to be in, but the staff quickly stepped in and guided us to the right place. Once inside the terminal, I was impressed by how many employees were smiling, chatting with guests, and creating a welcoming atmosphere. It made the entire process stress-free and surprisingly enjoyable. If you're sailing from here, I recommend arriving early. Parking filled up quickly, and many guests--including us--had to use the remote lot and take the shuttle to the terminal. Despite that, disembarkation was the fastest I've ever experienced. This port is incredibly efficient at what it does. The terminal itself could use a little refreshing, but the bathrooms were exceptionally clean. Theres two loading areas north end with large building or east end with large tents. Staff are very helpful directing you. This is where you'll receive ur cruise medallion lanyard or cruise card keep with you everywhere you go. Especially when disembarking at ports. Restrooms inside, lots of seating while you wait or platinum & elite lounge for Princess cruisers. Elevator or escalators will lead to ship corridor and boarding. I love that you can park your car right in front of the ship. Dropping off at curbside can take a bit but it's better than port of long Beach! Curbside workers are super helpful in direction traffic. Staff at the terminal for check in are wonderful. It is a very quick and easy process from check in, x-ray luggage to getting onboard. This was my 3 rd time in 3 months and every single time, embarkation was fast. This time it only took 15 minutesto get onboard. Watching the port workers load up on the ship is a special treat. We arrived and had absolutely NO line at all. Unlike a few years ago, when it took over an hour to board the ship. This time was streamlined and we dropped off bags in under a minute and went thru security with no line and then had less than a minute wait til we got to the counter where they gave us our medallions. All the staff were courteous and helpful. I hadn't printed off luggage tags, so the staff had to make embarkation tags for each bag. The mood of the staff was jovial and started our trip off right. Employees at the entrance appeared overwhelmed by the excited travelers entering the building. The further you got inside the building, the friendlier the employee became. There is a open parking lot available for $20 a day which makes for a quick getaway once you have disembarked at the end of your trip. My parking cost for the 7 night cruise was $140, and completely worth every penny. Once we made it in to the tent area, we were astonished by the amount of debris (trash) on the floor. Apparently the area had not been swept in quite a while. There was a required routine scheduled customs check of all staff and crew before guests were allowed to embark. This only happens every few months. Things then proceeded rather smoothly. It was a festive filled party as we sailed out of America's busiest cargo port; 20 straight years running now. And the world's 32nd busiest cruise terminal. Our first time leaving from our home port. Sapphire Princess; destination? 8 ports, 32 days, October 30 - December 1 in the South Pacific. Hilo, Honolulu, American Samoa, Western Samoa, Fiji, Dravuni, Tahiti, and Moorea. Then back to Los Angeles. Kind of a bucket list knockout in one blow! Disembarking went a lot smoother. The first hour for drop off and pickup is free. We used this cruise terminal to board our Royal Caribbean cruise. The parking is in a big lot but it's kind of a big mess with no directions and lines are not painted the best. The road is also supper bumpy so just be away if you are hauling a ton of luggage. Parking as $22 a day so for our 3 night cruise it as $66. Still cheaper than an uber in our case so we didn't mind the charge. The workers here are your typical terminal workers. They are there to get everyone through and if you are not following rules they will get annoyed and give you attitude. For the most part it was pretty easy to go through all the check points and passport check. Nothing bad to really say as long as you are following the rules it's easy sailings. read more

REVISION: Over a year later and the owners of this place still haven't made good on their promise to pay for damages. I spoke with Peter on the phone and have emailed him and while he seems to be a nice guy over the phone, he has had ample opportunity to make us whole. These are the kind of people that run this place... Take your money elsewhere, the convenience isn't worth it. My wife and I have another cruise in a few months that leaves from this port, you'd better believe that we are making other arrangements. If this review helps just 1 person avoid getting taken by the scammers, then it's done its job. This place is not secure. What a great way to come home from vacation. This supposedly secure lot had our car broken into and nearly stolen. At least 3 others on the same cruise had their cars stolen. And if there's a gate to get in and you have to pay to get out, how exactly? are these stolen cars leaving the property? Is it an inside job? Don't give this company a single dime before they figure out how to make their lot more secure. We were told by the LAPD and the port authority security that the company that runs this lot PCI (Parking Concept, Inc) refuses to hire actual security patrol. So they take our money at 20 bux per day times how many cars and won't pay to have it secured??? Don't give them your money!!! read more

This is my 2nd time going on a cruise out of this port (1st time was in 2017). Was going to park on site; however, at 19.00/day and unsure if parking would be available we decided to take a LYFT to and fr instead. Was pretty straight forward upon entering (just follow the signs) for the drop off area but a tad confusing once dropped off on where to go (we just followed everyone else). The lots were easily accessible from the freeway and there is plenty of parking. I just parked near the Royal Caribbean berths. The car was fine when I returned. This review is just for the parking. I did not enter the terminals when I returned because I had COVID and was escorted from the ship to a separate area in the parking lot during disembarkation. There were two ships in Port, but the traffic wasn't bad, and we were dropped off right at the security entrance. As many people know, the west coast doesn't offer a whole ton of options with cruise ship ports as they are scattered in major ocean cities such as San Diego, San Francisco, Seattle, Astoria OR, and this one in Los Angeles. This is more along the lines of the San Pedro/Long Beach area but nonetheless it is the main cruise terminal which is also known as the "Los Angeles World Cruise Center". The center itself is a hub for all the major cruise lines including Royal Caribbean, Carnival, Celebrity, Norwegian, Disney, and Princess. I've already been on several cruises in my time but this was my first time ever cruising out of California. Since I researched a ton of information (through Facebook groups and Yelp reviews), I already had a general idea of what to expect. My cruise which was Royal Caribbean's "Navigator of the Seas" was set to embark on Friday April 22, 2022 @ 4:00pm. Me being the early bird that I am, I ended up arriving here around 11:10am. The best way to get here (from LAX) is to take the 405 South (San Diego Freeway) to the 110 South, right on 47 East and exit on Harbor Blvd. The physical address is 100 Swinford Street Wilmington, CA so if you put that in your GPS, you should be good to go. If you plan on leaving your personal vehicle here, you are given a ticket. Make sure to HOLD ON to your ticket especially if you will be here for several days as this is a daily long-term lot. Parking rates (as of 2022) are free for the first hour and $2/hour thereafter with a maximum daily rate of $20/day). Since I would be leaving my vehicle here from 4/22/2022 to 4/27/2022, that would be a grand total of $100. Otherwise, there are shuttles that drop you off from nearby hotels. Or you could go the simple route and take an Uber or taxi here. After unloading all my luggage out of my car, an employee that works for cruise center approached me if I will be cruising. I specified to him my ship and he took my heavy carry-on bags, labeled them, and placed them on a cart. After tipping him, I proceeded to the inside of the terminal. During these times with all these safety protocols, everything here was absolutely painless. I provided the staff of Royal Caribbean my passport, proof of vaccination status, a negative COVID-19 test (48 hours or less is required by a proctored health professional), drivers license, and my SeaPass cards through my phone. If you bring all of these documents PRIOR to your arrival, this will expedite the entire process. When my cruise ship returned to the terminal during the morning of Wednesday April 27, 2022 @ 6:00am, the process was very simple as well. After enjoying a final breakfast buffet at 6:30am, checking out of the suite at 7:00am, I was off the ship by 7:15am. And finally I got back to my car at 7:30am! I must say this was a very painless process, at least from my experience as there were no hiccups. Best of all, you can assure that your vehicle will be safe as this is a private gated parking lot. All in all, I would have to give the "Los Angeles World Cruise Center" an above average four-star rating. I read many reviews of confusion of where to go, where to wait, what to provide to the staff, and so forth. That is why I highly recommend showing up as early as possible to avoid all the hassles involved; much like if you're flying out of the country. Now that I am familiar with this particular cruise terminal, I plan on making many future visits here. read more

Well this has to be the worst cruise port I've ever been to The main building was just a tent The rest was old and ugly TSA were rushing us and unclear as to instructions Upon our return trip we walked off the ship Navigator of the Seas so we had rolling suitcases but to get out of the port you have yo use an escalator which was difficult with luggage It looks like the port probably started as a freight port converted to passenger travel :-( read more

Do not use this port if you can avoid it. On a princess cruise we were dropped off. There were technical problems with customs. They were not able to handle a large group. Our Mexican Riviera cruise was sailing from San Pedro. If you Google it, you'll find it's located in Los Angeles. Not Long Beach. We decided to drive to Los Angeles from San Francisco as it's a six hour drive not counting comfort stops. There's a big outdoor parking lot adjacent to the ship terminal. Lately we've been traveling with carry on luggage. This was no different. We were sailing on Celebrity out of berth B93. Celebrity has evening chic which replaced formal nights awhile back. So no need for evening gowns and tuxedos. Hence another reason for a carry on. We entered the parking lot pulling a parking ticket from the kiosk. Hold on to it as you'll need it to pay & exit. $20 a day so we paid $140 for seven days. Pulling our luggage we entered the ship terminal. Many ushers guiding you to where you need to go. Although our check in time was 11am we checked in earlier with no issue. We provided our passports which were scanned with a handheld device. Our photos taken. Then we found a seat in the enormous waiting area. Hurry up & wait. Boarding was by Celebrity loyalty tier program. It was somewhat noisy to hear as it was a verbal call out. With all the ambient noise it caused a stir among us. We were the third group to board. Upon disembarking the ship seven days later we did our own carry off. We disembarked around 6:50am. Rolled our luggage down the ramp into the ship terminal. Took the escalator down (folks with larger luggage had to wait for the elevator). We followed the signs to US Customs. It was easy peasy as US Customs did a facial recognition. Look into the camera. Bingo. Done. No passports required. We headed back to the parking lot. We were going to pay at the machine but there's a paper sign instructing us to pay at the exit. So we drove to the exit. Slipped the parking ticket from seven days prior into the machine. Followed the prompts. Slipped our credit card to pay. Waited for our receipt to be dispensed. The arm raised up. We exited. Left at 7:20am. read more

Arrived to embark on our Princess cruise. We got to terminal about 2 hours beforehand. There are not a lot of places to sit outside the terminal before they open it up so if you can't stand for long periods of time you are better off waiting until they let passengers board the ship. The check-in process was pretty seamless--a kind employee named Roseanne helped me navigate the lines. We proceeded to the terminal and went through security . We then proceeded to the window where they checked our passports, boarding passes and gave us our cruise medallions ( electronic id and payment device you wear while on board). It was definitely a pleasant boarding experience. Disembarking seemed like it was farther to walk to get off the ship. If you're not physically fit it might be a little grueling. There were two Gangways on the Discovery on Decks 6 and 7 . We decided to carry off our own luggage (I wouldn't recommend this unless you are able-bodied.) Once the ship was cleared they opened the gangway and we had to walk down about four long ramps before getting to the elevator/-they also have an escalator. Then we had to walk about a half mile through the terminal , past the baggage area, through the windy customs que to get out of the terminal. The TSA agents were using face recognition so they did not ask for our physical passports but I think it depends on the ship. Then it was walking distance about the length of a football field to get to the parking Lott. I logged about 3000 steps during the disembarkation process. Very friendly staff. From entrance to exit, you receive guidance to the cruise ship you're on. Directions are easy to follow and the representatives are very attentive. They know how to keep traffic moving. Transition was smooth. Our luggage was taken and delivered on time. Check in was smooth, seeing that most of the process was computerized. In my opinion, I rather travel by sea than by plane. This process was much faster and smoother than the airport!!! read more
