Came in to get the kids edged up for picture day... Typical male spot.. music banging dudes waiting for cuts, but it wasn't that packed. It was also, mommy friendly, non of the dudes were over friendly but yet they did acknowledge me, that's was cool! When I came in two barbers were available and the kid got right in the chsir. Since he only needed an edge up, simple enough.. I walked out and walked in to notice that the front although clean wasn't steaight. The kid got,Frank, as his barber.. I let him know that the front wasn't straight.. he didn't let his ego get the best of him and he fixed it.. Sharp clean edges is what I'm looking for.. I told Frank, I am just lookin for sharp clean edges... In the end its the kids judgement and he liked it. Plus, we were in and out! OH YESSSSS! THANKS FRANK I will go back and review a full cut! Ok...so I'll review the shop in general and then I'll review my barber Armando. The Shop: The atmosphere is nice enough. I like the location, especially since it is across the street from Wells Fargo. Parking is never an issue as I can usually grab a spot right in front of the shop. I have two boys and I have taken them to several barbers in the Paramount/Downey area, only to be disappointed. Some of the barbers do use foul language but I guess that's typical. I would hope that the profanity would be toned down in the presence of children...but hey...it is what it is. The barbers are friendly and not uptight and selective about who they speak to...so I give the shop 4 stars. My Barber: Armando is straight up legit. I don't usually write reviews but I felt the need to personally shout him out. First and foremost...his professionalism is on point. He is attentive to the needs of his customers and is super focused on his craft while he is working. My son started getting bald spots in his hair after his first week of swimming lessons and Armando fixed him right up! I was worried that I would have to shave all his hair off but Armando found a way to hide the bald spot with a cool design and fade. He is super accommodating whenever I make appointments, and he is really great with kids. Armando gets 5 stars and 2 thumbs up...plus you can just tell he's a really cool dude. Very low-key and quiet...but mad barbering skills. read more

Service is a bit tricky there is a "list" and you wait and wait , I would like to see appointments to be accepted instead of listening to youngsters convo for an hour and a half. So I just moved to the area and in need of a fade looking like a Wookie (aaargh!). Walked inside this Barber Shop and was immediately greeted by this husky dude assigning me to a Barber and asking me to take a seat. That was very organized, but as soon as he left, the Barbers didn't really care who was waiting. They would just take long breaks and come back in whenever. The most horrid part of my experience here was that after waiting a good 45-60 minutes for my turn on the Barber's chair, I was asked to wait awhile longer by one of the Barber's as their friend cut right in front of me and sat down. That was awful. Assuming there would be another Barber available, the other Barber's just went on break after they where done with their client eventhough the place was jammed pack with heads full of hair waiting impatiently for their cut. Never again. Definately not coming back. Quality was good. I can't complain there. My fade was really clean and the line up was as straight as Steve Harvey's, when he had hair that is. Thanks, but no thanks Royal Cuts. Word of Advise: Place the Customer first before going on 1/2 hour breaks, especially when they've been waiting for you for 45-60 minutes. read more

The question is probably how does one write a review without ever having gone to a place. That's easy when it comes to Royal Cuts Barber Shop. I am the mother of sons and a grandson and they have all become customers at this barber shop. They love the place and they span two distinct generations. My grandson is in high school and my sons are middle aged adults. Their hair looks great all the time although they have distinctly different styles. They love the conversation that seems to go on in this shop. We are originally from the Southern part of the United States where barber shops were the "man caves" for men of all ages. In many ways my sons tell me that Royal Cuts remind them of that experience. Their only complaint has been the waiting time for service. However,they tell me that there are certain days and times that are less likely to set you up for long waits. Avoid coming around lunch times for sure. Check it out and write a review from your personal experience. However, based on what I am seeing and hearing from my grandson and sons, this place is really a lot of fun and you always walk away with a good haircut. You just have to be patient. Don't go if you are in a hurry... It's too laid back for that. They also seem to have an ethnically diverse clientele. read more

I followed one of the barber to this place because he does real good hair cuts but every time I come to this place it's getting worse and worse. People they know cut in another person got push back twice because they told him they had appointments but the guy that took his name never told him that told him he was next... MY ADVICE COME IN AT 9AM BECAUSE YOU COULD EASILY WAIT FOR 3HRS or FIND ANOTHER PLACE LIKE I DID WHERE THEY APPRECIATE THE CUSTOMERS. read more

Wack barber shop, long waits, owner too busy looking cool instead of keeping hair cuts moving. Why would the owner get his hair cut by one of the barber's while it's busy or during business hours & take a spot of a customer that could of been in his place?
